Note from engineering about a/c units.

I have stayed at many IHG properties to earn Diamond status. This is by far the worst and most exp property I have stayed at to date. My husband and I are full-time caregivers to a bed ridden parent along with our full time careers. So we decided to spurge and stay at a lux boutique style hotel. I think we paid around $300 a night after trading in some points. Regular price for our king executive suite was around $4-450 per night. When checking in it was pointed out that I had used points for the stay. But in a manner like I had my room comped. Or something. Made me feel less than. Blake could have been nicer. We walked into our room. It was very spacious and nicely appointed. But it was hot and muggy. The a/c was off. So. I turned it on. After 2-3 hours, the room was still pretty warm. So I texted the front desk to ask for two fans. One for each large room. They said no problem and that they would let engineering know. Housekeeping brought up a small desk fan. That would just have to do. We received a note from the engineer that the units are old, they need replaced, nothing they could do. Even if we moved to another room. Probably would not be better. So we stayed. See attached photo of note. The pillows go completely flat when you lay on them. Even stacked up. The mattress is worn out. Gets thin when you lay on it and you can feel the springs. There is also black mold in the bathroom. Not sure why that hasn't just been bleached and cleaned. problem solved. The bathroom linens were frayed and thin. The elevators also went out while we were there for the last two days. There was a service elevator where you had to walk through the staff areas of a restaurant to get to it. Very weird. The signs telling us about this issue were worn so it must happen regularly. I don't understand how a hotel brand such aa this let's it hotel become so run down. I have stayed at $80-90 a night hotels that were better. I did reply to a text message from Hannah asking to rate my stay to that point. I said 3. She asked me to explain my review. I provided all this feedback minus the black mold. Forgot to include it. Zero response. 99% of the time we stay at Holiday Inn Express and Suites. Great hotel. Nice linens. Pillows. Best mattress. How can a company like IHG operate a lower scale brand so much better than a much higher brand hotel like Kimpton. So sad. I will not stay at this brand hotel again.

The Kimpton Hotel Monaco is well situated in downtown Denver close to the main arteries on 16 and 17th Streets. I booked three rooms for the family last minute bookings. The hotel was full. So we had to wait 45 minutes to check in after 4pm which was not cool. Hannah tried to be as helpful as she could be. But the place was a real casino and it was not royal. Valet parking is at $63 per day, so fairly pricey. The Wi-Fi is not working - super slow on the download as they had network problems for the entire two days of our stay. Since we book with Amex we had the $100 per room credit which is a great perk that we used for our dinner at their Italian restaurant. They changed us in a larger room as soon as they could and we do appreciate the attention. So overall a good experience with some minuses.

Stopped here on the way to the ski resorts and had a great time. Just 2 blocks from the 16th st pedestrian mall with lots of restaurant options. Joaquin at the front desk gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful. They offer complimentary wine tasting 4-6 PM and whiskey/Amaro from 8-10 in their cozy lobby with a fire place. Only downside was the main elevator was being serviced so had to use the service elevator, but luckily it wasn't too busy. You can pay for valet parking or self park at nearby garages.

Stayed here for a conference and truly the staff made the experience. Extremely kind and accommodating. If not for that, I think I would've had more to say but, they can only do so much. Loved the wine happy hour daily, coffee/tea bar in the morning, and the late night cap. Definitely a hipster like hotel, nice lobby, but what I noticed was a weird smell. I noticed the same in my actual room- reminded me a bit of a dirty diaper. I sprayed Lysol and even asked for air freshener which they kindly provided but, it never really went away. The elevators were down, so you had to go through the hotel restaurant, pass the hostess desk to the service elevator to get to your room. Kind of a bummer considering this is NOT a cheap hotel. I had higher expectations for a Kimpton hotel accommodations wise but, the staff is top tier. A nice renovation would make this hotel.

I'm surprised this has 4 stars tbh. Came here for a board meeting so I thought it was going to be nice. That, and the price $570 for 2 nights. When you walk in through the automatic doors you can see bowls set out for dogs bc the hotel is pet friendly. But it smells like feces in that area and throughout the lobby. I brought it up during check in and the front desk teen blamed it on roadwork outside. But it did not smell at all when we pulled up for valet. (Valet was funny too--was like "well get out of your car what are you waiting for" type vibes. $20-80 for overnight. Paid $20 for 15 minutes tops. This is because we ended up seeing the room and going back down to request a refund to stay somewhere else. Ripped carpet, chipping paint, worn down furniture. There is a downtown Denver Hyatt that was cheaper $460 and much better quality.

Great hotel, service, staff, and restaurant. Came for the night and was immediately greeted by the valet. They helped with all my bags, took the car, and helped me into the hotel. Front desk was ready for my arrival and got me into my room quickly. The massive windows and super HIGH ceilings made the room feel grand! Loved it! At the end of the night I hung my room service order on the door for the next morning. The food did arrive a little unexpected. It was in bags and not on a cart like most hotels do. Either way, the food was still good and as ordered. It also arrived on time. Gym was kinda lame. Bunch of cardio machines. Heaviest dumbbell was 35lbs.

I thought I was doing us all a favor by going for a Kimpton hotel during my girl getaway in Denver but I was wrong. A busted water pipe and damage to the floors above us several days ago - and we were not informed via email or anything about it. We walked into the damage and a ill informed letter (see photo) with not any concessions or transparency that we should probably find another place to stay. Instead we were all in a version of Get Out where all the staff acted like nothing was wrong and they would stay there if they could- but they didn't and don't want to. I am quite sure I was exposed to mold and bacteria of which did not help that I also got sick with a respiratory infection after staying here and coming home within three days. This was a bad show all around and the happy hour could not help. I don't know what conditions the others are used to that were staying in this hotel, but hunny that is not how I roll. And I will make sure never to roll the dice at a Kimpton Monaco again!

I've stayed in Kimpton hotels before and they've always exceeded my expectations. Thought I'd be in for a nice stay at the Kimpton Monaco but I was wrong. As other reviews have claimed, the lobby does indeed smell like sewage. 3 out of the 4 elevators are still not working. The hallway leading to my room had peeling wallpaper with no baseboards. And solo women beware, the door in your hotel room has no physical latching lock. So yes, people with a key can come in with no secondary lock in place... and they did! Bright and early, housecleaning barged on in. Also worth noting, the bathroom was not clean. Mold could be found in the shower's tile grout and it was evident the toilet was not cleaned. Really regret spending my weekend away at this decaying hotel.

The fan I had to use so that I could keep a little cool..

We checked in on October 9 a Thursday, $65 to park per night. We walked around the local shops. Had a great time. Go into finally sit down cause we're tired in the hotel that we paid over $1000 for. Hoping to just relax before we have to check in at three when the whole lobby is taken over by tour guide guides selling tour rides. They are able to just get up and turn off the fireplace when everybody else is enjoying it. Finally checking into our room and no joke. It's the smallest room on the second floor. It's like they put you in a closet no bigger than a 10 x 20 space, not including the bathroom. The room was at 71°. It was actually warmer outside in the hallway. It started raining the third night still couldn't fix the thermostat to the point. I had to use a blow dryer to try to keep warm we called they sent over the handyman who couldn't even maneuver his ladder because the room was so tiny and here I was telling him that we were sorry.. They charge you a $300 fee for incidentals. Of course they'll give that back to you if you don't buy anything just for breakfast it was $89 for a fruit that was not fresh for French toast that didn't look like they used an egg dip and breakfast you could've bought from Denny's... they don't have a big choice of a dinner menu. Drinks that are watered down unless you're actually getting it from a wine bottle... the handyman finally said we're just gonna have to shut the whole system off. You won't be able to get heat or air and if you want air you'll have to bump it down to 61° or we'll have to move you at 9:30 PM. The lady saw the note in the computer when we were checking out and never even bothered to say how was your visit? Usually, they will say that when they're not guilty of doing something wrong... I'm sure she just wanted to avoid the whole conversation but thank you for social media and putting reviews. I was able to do that here. It's pretty sad that you spend so much money to take a vacation and when you leave was it really a vacation? If you decide to stay here, please don't go through a third-party when reserving your room because you will get the room that we did and it's sad that if you're going to have a website where people can try to get the best deal for their buck you would be able which I know they can take separate units off the website so you should never try to put somebody in a 10 x 15 closet and expect them to have a pleasant experience.., and then after spending $65 a night to park in the garage inconvenience because you have to go to the hotel next door to get through the garage, they have this humongous bus and trailer parked there for two nights. Nobody else can park there. What did they get charged? Just in case they want to do the right thing a room number was 2/32 floor from 10/9 to 10/12/2025

If you're looking for a cool hotel a short walk from Union Station, The Maven is a great option. We were easily able to walk from the station with our luggage and our room was ready early! The location really can't be beat. You're right in the heart of LoDo. Coors Field is a few blocks from the hotel and Union Station (which connects directly to Denver Airport) is only about a 5 minute walk away. Tons of restaurants, bars, and things to do are all within walking distance, which makes it extremely convenient. When booking, I asked for a high floor, quiet room so I could work. Upon check-in, they honored that request and also upgraded my room from a Journeyman to an Innovator Suite which I greatly appreciated. That upgrade definitely elevated the stay! The Innovator Suite was fantastic. It had two queen beds, two TVs, a full sofa, wet bar, dining table, flexible workspace, and city views overlooking Denver's LoDo District. The bathroom had a large soaking tub, which I had to take advantage off. There's no balcony and while the wet bar includes a small fridge, it's not really functional for anything beyond drinks as there's no space for leftovers or larger items. You also get a token per night to redeem for a free drink at the bar during happy hour, plus free drip coffee in the mornings. Other perks include free churros during social hour, a courtesy car service within a 2 mile radius, and discounts at various shops. There's also a fitness center, although I didn't use it. There were some things missing though: no pool, no spa, housekeeping is by request only, and no breakfast included. Service throughout was excellent. There's 24 hour front desk service and everyone I interacted with was cheerful, helpful, and kind. Overall, a strong stay with great service, a fantastic room upgrade, and an excellent location, even if a few expected amenities were missing for the price. If I had to come back to Denver and the company was covering the bill, I would stay again. The location really can't be beat. If I were coming for a leisure trip with a similar budget, I'd probably look for a hotel with a pool and spa instead. This hotel is best suited for people who want to experience LoDo nightlife, catch a game, or just be right in the middle of everything downtown. The room I was upgraded to was probably much more expensive than what I actually paid, which definitely improved the experience. I'm not sure I would feel the same way if I had stayed in the original room I booked. 4.5 stars rounded down.

They had other types of food, obviously, but steak was in plentiful abundance over anything. The housekeeping staff was amazing and on top of their game. The room quality was very good and spacious; larger than most hotels' suites. The in-room bar and mini-fridge were not free despite being labeled an "honor bar." I'm not cheap; I have no issue paying. My issue is the deceptive marketing of the so-called honor bar. The room's furniture was not cheap, but it did appear tacky with the illusion of being of quality. On the positive side, the staff were polite and attentive, and the room was cleaned while I was out. The view was also very impressive. All in all, I am looking forward to my next trip to Denver and bringing the Mrs. We will most definitely stay at the Hotel Teatro when we do. Until next time, Cheers!

Staying at the Hotel Teatro was a mistake we won't make twice…read more We were created by the friendly staff and checked in and offered a prosecco or soda. That was great and I highly recommend the prickly pear soda. They are walkable to a lot of restaurants and the opera house, and also offer car service within 2 miles. Very handy. But that's where the good ends for me. Our room was tucked up behind the elevators among a bunch of weird little stairs, like the most unimpressive Escher painting. It was very dark with only 2 lamps and 2 bedside lights. We could have opened the wall of windows, but because the doors and windows were not properly sealed, the only way to keep the freezing cold air rushing in was to keep the blackout curtains closed. The heat worked well, but cycled frequently and was very loud. The intake is next to the bed, so it disrupted our sleep. The fitness center was sad. There was one treadmill, one bike, one elliptical, and one weight bench, which is fine, but only 5-12 lb and 25-50lb weights (nothing between). Also, it was 82 degrees and there is no cold water available. It does not appear to have been swept or vacuumed in weeks. I used one of 2 beat up mats and from the ground could really see the filth. At check in, we were given a wooden nickel ($10 credit) for each night and told we could use it in the hotel restaurant, The Nickel. They only offer breakfast in Saturday and Sunday, so we went our 2nd day. I got the shakshuka, and when it arrived there were 2 poached eggs on top, not cooked in the sauce. NBD until I took a bite and all the sauce was room temp, as though it has just come out of a jar. There were areas slightly above room temperature, like it had been under a heat lamp. Wildly disappointing. My BF thought his avocado toast was pretty basic for the price. We tried to spend our last wooden nickel that night, getting a drink there, and were told it was only good in the other lounge area, which is odd since we both heard them tell us the nickel was for the Nickel. We ended up paying $42 for 2 small apps (a single croquette and 3 tiny gourges) and a glass of wine. I wouldn't have gotten anything but we wanted to burn the credit and BF wanted a snack with his wine. So we paid full price. Overall, very expensive for what it was. This is a 3-star hotel on it's best day, and someone needs to investigate the kitchen. We also feel deceived about the daily credit.
