We had an absolutely amazing time at Catbird! TLDR; Staff was accommodating, hotel was clean and absolutely go to The Rook. Bonus points: they hold your luggage for free after check-out! I had booked this hotel because it was right next to a train station and a dispensary (lmao priorities). It is a great location if you like to walk and explore for food/coffee! We had a little bit of confusion early on with our booking. We had originally paid for early check-in and late check out, however when they sent us the invoice and confirmation they were not reflected on the bill. We called/emailed and it was corrected before we even landed. They ensured us that check-in will be smooth, and it was. There is self check-in available which is easy to understand. There is also staff at the front, I believe 24hrs? (Damn near at least) We were out at 3am each night and there is always someone at the counter. Safe to say, if you have any problems at any time, someone would be there to speak to! Staff were always warm and welcoming. When you check-in, they give you a token for a free drink at their rooftop bar The Rook. There is only a selection of two drinks you can choose from, however those drinks were tasty! We also ordered food from their bar as a snack and it was delightful. The room itself was clean, smelled a little bit of cleaning products. The projector was a little bit tricky to figure out, because one remote connects to both the TV and projector. But we got the hang of it eventually. I lost my wallet during our stay, and was panicking. My partner had come down at well past midnight to ask if they can print some documents for me. Jorge (I hope I spelled it right) was very helpful. He printed out everything we needed right away. Eventually a kind person found my wallet and dropped it off at Catbird. They had kept it for me and I was able to fly back home! We had a late flight and didn't want to carry our luggage around. They offered to keep our luggage until our flight at 9pm. We got them back in the same condition we checked it in. This is NOT a paid review. I was very hesitant to book here because of the other reviews but I was genuinely surprised and happy with our stay. Youth hostel experience at luxury hotel prices, complete with being able to hear other guests having sex through the walls all night. The front desk is sparsely staffed, and the service provided by those who are there was exceptionally lacking. After a long day of traveling, it felt like staff simply couldn't be bothered. The valet stood idly by as I fumbled with my own bags, and multiple managers watched me look confused without a single greeting or offer to help. The self check-in process failed completely. I had to hunt down a manager with my luggage still in tow, only to have them stand beside me while I figured it out myself. If staff aren't there to assist guests, what exactly is the point of having them there at all? My TV didn't work for the entire duration of my stay. When I brought it up, the front desk manager offered a shoulder shrug with no solution, no compensation, nothing. That response sums up the attitude of this staff perfectly: they simply do not care about your experience. Highly recommend staying elsewhere. read more

Memorably good, and a little quirky. High-ceilinged lobby is visually "busy" with colorful sofas, chairs, large windows, a work room, knickknacks and a breakfast grill. Rooms are colorful with a terracotta ceiling accent and beautiful deep blue bathroom tiles and a black shower window. There's ample floorspace to do yoga (mat provided) or watch the projection TV on the blackout blinds. The bed is raised abnormally high to accommodate a pullout hangar closet (impractical) and pullout work desk (not as impractical, but still odd,) but the high bed has a very narrow space to access the far side of the bed, constrained by a safety railing. It's designed for extended stays with a hidden-drawer dishwasher, and hidden full-size fridge, induction cooktop, and microwave. The rooftop deck and bar is generously large and welcoming with lots of comfortable sitting areas indoors and out. Overall, I'd stay here again because of it's unique design features, but the high bed does take some getting used to. read more

Stayed there on our wedding night and did not have a/c the room was over 85 degrees there was a constant beeping from the mini fridge. The electric in half the room would only work part of the time. It was miserable. We left the second the sun rose in the morning. We could not get out of there faster. We even paid for one of the nicer suites. We have complained multiple times and have not been contacted for resolution or any type of customer service response. We would have been willing to give it another try and brush it off as just a bad room, but how this issue on our wedding night has been handled, any second chances have gone out the window. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a work trip, and found this place to be great. The decor is beautiful and artistic, service friendly and quick, check in/out easy, the gym (located across from the main entrance) small but effectual, and the morning breakfasts hot and delicious. The room layout is quite unique, making the most out of the smaller space. The hotel is located within walking distance of amazing restaurants, bars, shopping, breweries and so much more. I found this tech-forward boutique hotel as part of a package deal offered by Costco Travel. It is a narrow building squeezed into a triangular wedge at the intersection of Walnut and Marion streets. This makes for a cramped hotel lobby. Their parking is valet only. This is the strangest, most unconventional hotel I've ever stayed in. Apparently, this goes hand in hand with its location by the River North (RiNo) Art District. The technology in the hotel room is generally unintuitive, and therefore geared more toward Millennials and Generation Z. Perhaps the best example is the remote-controlled pair of window shades, that double as a projector screen. Through trial and error, I eventually figured out the logic of the buttons to get the window screen and blind to do what I want. The projector had a blue standby light which illuminated the window blind enough to make it hard for me to sleep at night. I called the front desk to ask if there was a way to turn it off. After consulting with an associate, he called me back and said the only way would be to unplug the projector. Unfortunately, I wasn't tall enough to reach the plug on the ceiling, while standing on the chair. Fortunately, I was barely tall enough to put a sticker over it, which I removed upon checkout. I think the hotel should create a YouTube channel with a playlist of tutorials for all of the avant-garde technologies in the hotel room. I do like the breakfast that is included as part of the stay. Unfortunately, when it came to the breakfast burritos and sandwiches, there were no vegan options. I didn't think to ask if a vegan version could be made by request. read more

Do not waste your time staying here. All of the effort went into fancy trinkets to make it look hipster. Service is abysmal and you need to check yourself in with an overly complicated and intrusive process that didn't work for any of the five people that checked in at the same time I did. 4.5 stars. I'm obsessed with the vibe of this hotel. So modern and classy! Did an overnight staycation at Catbird. Didn't realize it specializes in extended stays. How I'd love to live here for a week! Plenty of street parking around, though you might need to walk a block or two because it gets busy in RiNo. There's always valet parking. Not sure about self-parking options. The one thing I hated about Catbird was the self check-in kiosks that kept freezing whenever I tried to switch my credit card on file. So annoying. Other than that, the room and common spaces were exquisite. Comfortable with plenty of appliances that will make you feel at home. Haven't been to the rooftop yet, but it's on my bucket list for the near future! read more

CatBird lived up to its reputation, both visually and professionally. Main standouts: Amazing, safe location in RINO, convenience to the train, and wonderful team. The front desk staff were welcoming and sweet. The self check-in/out can feel a bit foreign if you've never used a similar system, but a team member was always around the corner at the front desk ready to assist. The valet staff was also so helpful and provided a moped tutorial to help me get acclimated with the Vespa. Their patience was Greatly appreciated! The added touches of hosting themed events through the week and the accessibility to rent beach cruisers/mopeds definitely made this hotel memorable. read more

Great place to stay in the very eclectic RiNo District. I wasn't a fan of the self-check in, especially when arriving after a full day of traveling, but my wife and I got through it. Dawn and Juliet were amazing and made us feel welcome each time we passed through the lobby area. The day valet (can't recall his name) when we arrived was super accommodating, even though we self parked. In contrast, the day valet when we checked out on 11/27 was more concerned with his phone than assisting us. The night staff (Dawn and Juliet) were far superior than the day staff, who didn't really acknowledge us. Oh well, their loss, not ours. Our room was great, though we had to call maintenance to figure out the shower (perhaps a helpful sign on diverting from faucet to shower head?) We loved the automatic blinds and projector, though the cooling fan is super loud. Our thermostat acted very flaky as we were constantly adjusting it as it wouldn't hold a steady temperature. We also took advantage of the rooftop hot tubs and had a very enjoyable evening up there. We would definitely stay at the Catbird again when we next visit Denver. read more

I have no idea why this hotel's average star rating is anything less than 5 stars. We've stayed here over 3 times & it's honestly our favorite place to stay in Denver. We decided to get an air bnb this time because we're house training a pup & wanted a backyard that was easily accessible. Our experience was so bad we immediately called Catbird to see if we could get into a room STAT & they were so quick to accommodate our needs, we asked for a room close to the floor & not only did they do that but they had a room available right away for us to check in & they brought us a dog bed to our room. From here on out we're regulars here. I don't recommend it. For check-in you use self service kiosks - and they don't work. Four separate people trying to check in and none of us could get the system to work. Then I get into my room and there are two TVs and two remote controls. Both remotes turn one TV off and the other TV on with each press of on/off button. In other words, it was impossible to turn both TVs off simultaneously. I called to ask for it to be fixed and they said they'd send someone. 30 mins later no one has come and so I call again and say I'll be out for a couple hours and they say they'll fix it. I come back - not fixed. I call again and the guy says he told me before it can't be fixed - I need to switch rooms. What!? And he acts like it's my fault. The rooms are also small and weird and some of the light switches don't work. I don't need high tech in my hotel room, even high tech that actually works. What I want is clean, simple, quiet, comfortable. And with helpful, courteous service. I won't stay here again. read more

Looking for a pet friendly hotel, so searched for pet friendly hotels. This place came up and their website talked about how they welcome all our furry friends. Texted them a week later to confirm our arrival with our 2 cats, and were told that they didn't allow cats. Apparently they only allow dogs. So not pet friendly, just dog friendly. Their reply said to call them for recommendations for other accommodations. The woman who answered became defensive, demanding to know who contacted us. Said her manager would call us back. No response. So baffling pet policies and abysmal customer service. If I could give negative stars. Avoid this brain dead business. read more

I stayed at catbird for an entire month and my stay was absolutely wonderful. From Colter on to the entire staff, everyone was extremely kind and accommodating every step of the way. The room itself was extremely clean (housekeeping was awesome) and had literally everything you could think of/need for a long term stay. The set up is also extremely practical for a long term stay, with tons of storage space an organized in a way so the room doesn't ever feel cluttered. The location in RiNo is also awesome as you are walking distance to so many different shops, restaurants and bars. Found this hotel on Air Bnb for a stay-cation and it was a great find. Very creative and unique twist on a apartment style extended stay / hotel. It was very modern with their automated check in, included amenities, lofted bed with clever room design for lots of storage, high quality furniture, and a cool feature with a projector as a TV. The rooftop bar wasn't open but the hot tubs were. I am sure in the spring or warmer weather, the rooftop would be a great additional spot to hang out. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this to others. read more

If your like trendy hotels, this place is 100% for you. The studio room has so many fun surprises: a hidden, space-saving desk, a dishwasher and fridge, an electric stove and fun kitchen gadgets, utensils and bowls/plates/mugs to use, some little weights and a yoga mat, blackout curtains, a projector for the tv, and more! They have events on the rooftop on some nights, like DJ yoga classes. The rooftop is also really nice and trendy, with a cool view of the area. The hotel is also dog friendly, so I was constantly squealing in delight at all the cute fur babies walking around! I'm not sure if they accommodate more handicapped situations because the bed is really high up above some stairs, but that would be my only big complaint (it could definitely get dangerous real quick, even in a non-handicapped situation). There were also some crumbs around the couch and my bed sheets did have a few stains, but overall the place seemed pretty clean. A cooked breakfast is included each morning with your stay, and a drink from the fridge (alcoholic or non) is also included between 4 & 8 each day, which were some other nice perks. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back and recommend this hotel to friends. Another note - you can actually live in this hotel too! First time at this hotel. The vibe was cool but this location was so dirty! From the luggage carts all the way to the room. Our room had stains on the bed. Their chairs were very dirty. Blood or food stains in the blinds for the windows. Hair left in bathroom. The hot tub areas had a lot of seating but most chairs were broken and ripped. We asked for a room change and that room was better but still dirty. The windows weren't clean and fridge was dirty. We were offered a complimentary drink for the inconvenience and we asked if we could just get the $50 valet covered and they said it was separate. The valet is not there after a certain hour so you have to park your own car any ways and still pay $50 our car wasn't even pulled up for us when we left. Has great potential but need some upgrades and a new cleaning company!!!! I wish I took more photos. read more

First time in Denver and enjoyed our stay at the CatBird! We walked all over the RiNo District and went to some great restaurants around the hotel. Also, a train right across the street that goes to and from the airport?! Amazing. The whole area is a bit pricey... coffee & drinks at the Catbird included. But the room fee was the best I could find! Super cute decor, fun rooms, friendly staff. Loved the modern self check-in and check-out. We had a flight get in at 7am and they were able to let us check in early -- for naps!! My ONLY complaint, and maybe the early check in is to blame, is that while our room was clean, organized, fresh sheets, and clean bathroom, our room was covered in someone else's hair. I'm probably the worst person this could happen to (I have a bit of a phobia lol) so I was a completely grossed out. I'm sure this isn't the norm but it bugged me so much I had to include it here! My A/C was broken, so I reported it to the front desk, and they sent an engineer to check it out the following day. I was told that if it couldn't be repaired, I'd be moved to a new room. However, after determining it was unfixable, no one followed up with me. When I returned to my room, it was uncomfortably hot, even though it was 45 degrees outside and the windows don't open. I'm reposting this review because Catbird apparently had it removed (despite being an entirely reasonable, nonoffensive review of our stay in November 2023). That is a pretty trashy move in my book. This place has a fun vibe and is in a great location, walking distance to much of RINO. The rooms are clean and modern in a quirky, young, fun sort of way. But the service is quite mediocre. Things went wrong with access to the roof and with food service. When we asked (politely) for reasonable assistance, we received eye roll after eye roll from the staff. The place is good if you think of it as a fun, young hostel with private rooms and aren't expecting much. Because if you think of it in terms of expectations of a nice urban hotel, it fails in a lot of ways. read more

Hotel was rated a 4 star hotel through Priceline and in no way is it a 4 Star hotel, room was uncomfortable, bed and pillows were uncomfortable, air conditioning was so loud I couldn't sleep at night. Bathroom lights are dark so very hard to put makeup on, room didn't seem very clean either. I am not a big person at all but I can tell you the shower area is so small I can barely shave my legs or move around in there. There is absolutely no desk area or work area if you want to use your computer or have to work in the room as the only table there is a very small table that barely fits a laptop. Making coffee in the hotel was some pour over system that was too complicated to figure it out. Overnight parking was $42/night Bar closed by 10 pm on. First time in Denver didn't disappoint (for the most part) and Catbird was a big part of that. The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff was very helpful to answer questions. The rooftop hot tubs were a nice touch on cold evenings and the projection screen was great to use while unwinding from lots of walking. However, the sleeping experience portion of the stay was abysmal. The pillows are awful. The stuffing surrounds your head and you're left with nothing. I was awake for hours each night, and although I do in fact use a firmer pillow at home, this was something completely opposite and there was no fix. We asked if there was any new ones and an employee had said she's been working on getting new ones but the person needing to order them hasn't yet. I would love to pick catbird as our regular stay location, but not if I can't sleep. Other than that everything else was good. Breakfast was great. Coffee great. You walk in and there is a giant mirror blocking your view to even see where you need to go to check in. Staff were friendly! Self check in, the newest addition to hotels. I love people so this is a bit disappointing. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of my room. I feel like if I needed a place for an extended stay (even one night) this is a nice choice. I will say I was disappointed to see a ramp to the hot tub area only to find out there are stairs to get to the actual hot tubs... I was perplexed by why they had a lift to help wheelchair users into the hot tub if they weren't even able to get to the lift to use it. Lift doesn't work anyway sooo why bother. Not a single person knew how to get a wheelchair user into the hot tub. They thought maybe the lift comes out to that second level but no one knows. (I spoke to 3 different staff members to include one that looked like management in a black blazer) There is a lot of noise from the street during the day, we will see how the night goes. Slept great! All in all it was a great stay. The hot tubs were clean, bed was comfy and shower was warm. Last thing I'll add is that breakfast left something to be desired. Today's option was a two egg croissant with cheese. It's just that, no seasoning and not much cheese. It was premade so the croissant was a bit hard. read more

Stay at Catbird!!! I love this hotel. The decor is stylish and modern. Everything is so cleverly& thoughtfully designed with function as the highest priority. Free made to order breakfast in the lobby until noon every day. The rooftop is huge and has a bar, food, scheduled entertainment, games & 2 hot tubs! My room (the catbird studio) had a fridge, stove, microwave, dish washer, yoga mat, weights, resistance band, large screen projector tv, sofa bed, elevated bed, and storage, storage, storage! The staff- so friendly and personable. There are so many extras available: place to rent outdoor equipment or indoor entertainment. And free laundry facilities on every floor! From a couple days to a long term stay- the Catbird has you covered. And i haven't even mentioned all there is to do in the neighborhood and how close the RIT is if you wanna catch the train somewhere! Stay here and be amazed! read more

Stayed here for a retreat/conference with friends last weekend. The Catbird is a fantastic place! Loved how the check-in process was collaborative and felt more welcoming seeing the screen (vs other hotels standing there as an employee typed endlessly on a screen you can't see). Rooms were very creatively designed with raised beds (closets and desks in hideaways inside the bed). Loved the yoga mat standard in rooms, it was so nice not to have to go to the gym for my morning and night back stretching routines. Breakfast options were delicious. Lobby was open and inviting with informal sectioning for small group convos. Coffee available all through the day with nondairy milk options (set out in the morning and easily available upon request through the day. Would absolutely stay here again next time I'm in Denver. Only small downside (not even a negative) was that a couple friends and I (so it wasn't just me) could NOT figure out how to turn off the TVs in our respective rooms. Me-wow! I loved my stay at the Catbird Hotel! Only a few months old, no expense or detail was spared in its construction and planning. The space is charming and unique, the hospitality incredible, and the rooms comfy, posh, and very accommodating! Spacious showers and mattresses and pillows softer than clouds. The breakfast menu was also fairly diverse, and definitely worth trying! I got the shakshuka and it was delicious :) sadly when I stayed the hot tubs were closed for renovation, but it's a good excuse for me to come back! read more

Overall I was very disappointed in my stay at Catbird. First, I had to pay about $20 extra for an ADA accessible room, which seems inherently wrong and it was not adequately accessible. There was a very tall bathtub and no grab bars in the bathtub area so I was not able to take a shower for the two days I was there. Your information on Expedia did not include the information on the additional $30 per day amenity fee, so that was a surprise. I also do not enjoy the lack of human interaction and having the only option be self check-in. That was incredibly frustrating, especially since I came in with full arms and no place to set my things down but needed to both hands to be able to complete the registration. There was no coffee available in the room. There was the supplies for pour over coffee, but no actual coffee. This was frustrating since I was on the 6th floor and the farthest away from the lobby elevator. It was not a quick trip to run down and grab coffee in the lobby. The towels in the bathroom were threadbare and had strings from the towels hanging off of them. I was also frustrated that the bar was not open and it was not noted when I got my reservation email. Had I known these things before, I would not have chosen to stay there and I will not stay there again. read more
