Hotel Tango has my favorite cocktails in all of Indy (and some of the best soft pretzels)! They also offer some zero proof cocktails that are wonderful, so it's an inclusive and safe place. The servers couldn't be nicer and always time when to get you a refill perfectly. They have a rotating menu that always has wonderful drinks, so you'll have no problem finding a new favorite. Without question this is the most difficult review I've had to give. Our welcome in was outstanding. The review of our options for drinks was thorough. We ordered our drinks and decided on a charcuterie board. The drinks were spot on. The board was strong. Except for crackers. We asked for FIVE more crackers. No big deal. Bring them right over the first person said 20 minutes later, we asked again when they wanted to know if we wanted another drink. We still had drinks, so we told of the request and she said she'd check. Nope, never saw her again until we checked out. Then our option was 20-30-40% for a tip. I tipped at 20% and on exiting I wanted to buy a bottle of the syrup and House bourbon. 100% acknowledged and 1000% ignored. I'd pay double for better service. Keep the syrup. Hands down, Hotel Tango is the best distillery/bar in Indiana, and I would even wager in the Midwest! When you consider the quality of their spirits, the creativity of their cocktails and the camaraderie within their culture, they're simply unmatched. We're quickly becoming regulars here, and each time we're in the staff has been so friendly and welcoming. If you're not sure what to order (there are so many great options) they always take time to talk about your preferences and share the highlights of their seasonal menu. They don't normally take reservations, but I was able to email the manager for a reservation on a Saturday afternoon for a group of people. Unfortunately, there was only one bartender working for the whole bar, including our party of 20. It did take a bit to get our drinks. The food however was fantastic. We loved the nachos, pretzels, vegetables with hummus, and the flatbread. They also just have chips and cheese dip if you don't want all the nachos! Overall everyone was happy with their drinks! My absolute favorite distillery I've ever visited! I've never gotten a drink i didn't like and never had bad service at this place no matter how busy, or the time of day. Hotel Tango has done a great job at creating an inclusive, lowkey bar with some truly top-notch spirits. This place is almost always the first or last stop for my partner and I on date night, they just never get it wrong. Most recently, we went to grab a bottle of their Black is Beautiful whiskey and ended up staying for a few drinks. I ordered a Dexy MF and a drink whose proceeds went to suicide prevention I believe. Both were great. So glad we got our hands on a bottle of the Black is Beautiful Whiskey. It's is crazy smooth and was the perfect addition to our bar cart! Drinks range from $8-14, and only liquor is served here. We stopped by right at opening time (2PM) on a Monday. The traffic here was light, which is just how we prefer it! Gin! Whiskey! Drinks for everyone! Hotel Tango is definitely one of the gems of Fletcher Place. I really like the continuously evolving cocktail menu, and the staff are super knowledgeable and helpful with drink recommendations. The spirits are made in-house, and you can tell that the distillery team really pay attention to the small details. One of the things that I WISH Hotel Tango offered is small bites for food. Currently you can purchase light snacks like trail mix and chips. Additionally, there is free popcorn available on-site. I wish I had access to a small sandwich, or cup of soup to accompany my fabulous Hotel Tango cocktails. That might be enough to make me stay all day. Lucky for us, there are a lot of foodie-friendly places in walking distance of the Hotel Tango distillery. So, overall, I definitely recommend a visit to Hotel Tango. This rustic distillery and bar has really developed into a Fletcher place hot spot! When it started off, they had simple cocktails made with house distilled spirits, and even did those well using craft sodas! They have grown to have one of the most creative changing cocktail menus in town, featuring their own liquor, which has also evolved. In fall and winter the fireplace provides a cozy atmosphere. Their house distilled spirits are a local fave, but my personal loves are orangcello and Cherry liquor! Parking is limited for the actual building but plenty of street parking on Virginia Ave and adjacent neighborhood streets! I cannot believe I have lived back in Indianapolis for nearly 4 years and JUST went to Hotel Tango. I feel like I have missed so much! I loved it here from the moment I walked in. I felt like I was in a ski lodge without all that pesky being in the cold and violently skidding down mountains business. Bonus- I could bring my dog who raises the enjoyability level of every experience. I have been chasing a good Old Fashioned since having a life changing one in Savannah earlier this year, and HT is the first place to hold a candle to it. I happened upon Hotel tango when I was visiting the area before our family moved here after I followed a motorcycle rally for the Boone County humane society that ended there. I went in and was pleasantly surprised the drinks were out of this world and the food was phenomenal, something you would expect from a master chef The only negative not allowing me to give them a five star rating is that they don't allow children as we went there one night and were refused service, with as many bar/restaurant you would think that they could have some setting set up for families. It's one thing to have amazing, creative cocktails (I love 'em, but I'm not super picky). However, this place is so much more than that. The atmosphere is magical and relaxed. You can dress casual, bring your pup, or sit by the section that's open to the outside through the garage door. The cocktails: so fun and creative (named after seasonal pop culture.. now it's: "David's Pumpkins" among others), and we even tried a maple whiskey that had bacon bits soaked in it (and it was DELICIOUS). Different is the best way to describe the space but a good different. The nachos were extremely yummy and the service was excellent. The drink menu was very different for me as I am not a bourbon girl but I was able to request tequila a la carte. That was nice. It's has a brewery vibe to the place and you can take your pup. Came here for 1/2 price Monday's with a group of friends. The vibe here is chill - makes for a great place to hang out. The decor is rustic yet modern. Free popcorn too! I got Malibu Sands and Prickly Pirate off the summer menu. They were both so delicious! I loved the prickly pirate because of the passion fruit flavor. Never had a bad drink at Tango. I've walked in to Tango and just tried random drinks and still enjoyed it. My goto is the Orangcello + Whiskey + Aquafaba(sp?) a delightful splash of orange frothy tastiness. Yes I said " delightful". If you haven't been, it's a spacious, rustic, warm ( literally if the fireplace is on) environment welcoming of anyone and even their dogs. Great place to go for drinks. No beer or wine selection, but a great mixed drink list. I have also had the kombucha on draft, which was also good. The menu changes rather frequently, but yet, remains consistent. They actually have a small cartoon on the menu for each drink to help you know what to expect. They also have some snack options, including delicious cookies. There is free self-serve popcorn available in the corner of the building. This place is dog friendly, but it is never too crowded with dogs. Some nights, they can be super busy, but it is very spacious and has a lot of seating area. They have some events throughout the year and often display local art. They are really starting to expand their production of distilled liquor, which is also available for purchase. I've been here multiple times so I can shed a bit of light on day time and night time hotel tango. Hotel Tango has a huge space, which is lovely. It's never too loud and you can almost always find a place to sit. At night, it's usually quite busy which makes it all the more fun! The drinks are spectacular. I've never tried one I didn't like, although i find myself googling ingredients frequently. The drinks are a little expensive but strong and always have fun new flavors. Confession: I never visited Hotel Tango because I was intimidated by the fact that it was a distillery and not a brewery. What a fool I was because I've been missing out on some handcrafted cocktails! My friend and I sat by the bar, so we witnessed the Friday night action as the bartenders mixed, shaked, and stirred the drinks being ordered. The service was fast and--more importantly to any Hoosier--super friendly. (I'm talking about you, Dyke!) I had a beet-o-rita, which uses Hotel Tango's Romeo Rum and Orangecello. The booze was in no way overpowering, making it easy to drink. Did I mention how good this fruit-frontin' cocktail was? You'll want to order it for sure. No longer will I steer clear of Hotel Tango. So wish I could like this place, it has a wonderful ambiance, and the owners are generous to the neighborhood. I met owner Travis in 2014 shortly before they opened to the public, he invited my husband and I in for a tour , it was beautiful then, and is charming still. Early in the opening I took several small groups in to support local. Regrettably on just about ever visit, the service was pretentious and slow. The last few years I've had little interest in going back. Walking the neighborhood after the colts game on October 8th with out of town guest decided to try it again. So disappointing, they were not busy, the service was once again, slow and pretentious. The Oat fashion was very good, as well as the regular Old fashion. But the lemoncello was really unpleasant. I've had lemoncello numerous time internationally and domestically, and never experienced such a strong intense flower flavor. Because I've always enjoyed it, I also recommend my friend try it. It took a long while for our waiter to come back and check with us. I told him that we really didn't like the lemoncello, he pretty much shrugged and walked away. So if you enjoy some bad attitude and poor service with your expensive cocktails, knock yourselves out. Better local to be had. read more

And considering Hotel Tango makes so many great types of spirits -- gin, rum, vodka, moonshine, whiskey and even limoncello and orangecello -- you can be sure that the cocktails will be great. Given the fact I hale from Bourbon Country, I had to try a whiskey drink, so I got a Foxtrot Old Fashioned, which seems to be Hotel Tango's signature OF cocktail. (There are two other takes on the OF on the menu.) It was full of the earthy spice that you'd expect a OF to have. It hit the spot. My friend got a Kurt Vonnegut-inspired cocktail -- complete with a plastic cat hanging off the side and everything! I can't remember the name of the drink off hand, but it tasted delightful and was such a fun surprise. Points also go to Hotel Tango for having an awesome distillery cat! One of the owners carried him/her in his arms as he talked to customers. So why the four stars? I want to go back and try more! I've never been here before, but my date and I arrived around lunch time. There was already a crowd of people, but we found ourselves a nice little spot on one of their comfortable couches. Everything appeared clean. The decor is nice, and in the wintertime they have a fireplace they use that I'll definitely come back for (it'll FOR SURE make the date that much more romantic).. The place did get pretty crowded while I was there though (popular is food), so I noticed groups standing up without any places to sit. There are places at the bar area, but it only looked like a couple seats were vacant for every spot taken. Like I said, the cocktails were pretty strong..and when they make them that strong it'll sacrifice some of the flavor/sweetness (if that's your thing)..the drinks we had were the Rockford Peach and Marla's Hooch. Another place I've wanted to go to for a long time!! Since we brewery hop it's always "we'll go another time" because we go to Fountain Square Brewery and Brewdog Brewery, we never make it! It's worth going to, with the beautiful building, great cocktail menu and customer service!! We only stayed for one drink, but I plan on bringing my husband back next time. I found out about Hotel Tango at two previous yelp events and wanted to check them out if I was ever in Indy. Sooo glad I did. We arrived as soon as they opened and were greeted by some cool ladies and a cat that roams around the distillery (the cat is friendly and likes to be petted). There cocktail list is seasonal and has various concoctions made with their spirits. For the first round I had the Turboman. It was smooth, strong, and spicy. It included Bourbon, rum, Amer Picon, turbinado, and chai. The second round, I ordered the Nakatomi Plaza. Favorite drink ever! It had Tango Malibu (I don't know if that is rum or another spirit) blue milk, black tea, and a little something extra that turns the drink from blue to purple. Because I liked this drink so much I ordered it again, and then wished I could have of had another. But, these drinks are strong and I couldn't have done a fourth one. This wasn't the first time I have sampled Hotel Tango's products, but was my first visit to the distillery and it definitely didn't disappoint. We were told that if we sat in the area to the left, we'd have a server, whereas, if we opted for the area to the right we could just go to the bar. We opted for the right and found seats at the bar. The bar was nice and well lit, but the lights were dimmed as it got a bit later. Between my friend and I, we were able to sample two cocktails: The Revenge Business (a Kombucha-based cocktail with vodka) and the Mawage (strawberry gin and orangecello-base). Both drinks were fantastic, but the The Revenge business was definitely noteworthy. The staff was super friendly and the service quick and efficient. The environment is super comfortable with space that is both approachable and romantic. Make sure to ask your bartender their unique cocktail offerings.
