My wife and I have stayed at the Lucerna over a dozen times. It's our go to place when we overnight in Tijuana. However, their website is problematic. My wife wanted to stay there this evening, but their website, which offered a rate of $117 would NOT let me book it, although there was availability. The young man at the front desk would not honor the $117 price, instead saying the 'best' rate would be $165.00! I explained that the website would not let me book the room online at the $117 rate. He agreed that the website said $117 but he couldn't honor that rate unless I booked online...even though I COULDN"T! Anyway, my wife ended up not staying there. We will NEVER stay there again. I recommend you consider the many other excellent hotels to stay there NOT the Lucerna! read more

I would rate this hotel zero if posible. This was my 1st time staying at a hotel in mexico & it was the worst experience. They take a lot of advantage of families with more than 3 people. Front desk representatives are so rude and disrespectful. I booked my reservation online and they guaranteed my reservation but when I got to the hotel to check in they had already cancelled my reservation & sold my room to another person apparently I didn't checked in exactly at 3pm. They called me earlier that day around 10am to verify if I was going to be staying there for the night... & I confirmed my reservation one more time and everything was taken care of but when I got to the hotel they had already canceled my reservation. I was so mad because they didn't have a valid explanation for this... I've never experienced something like this. I talked to the manager for about 2 hours and he was such a liar he kept contradicting himself coming at me with bullshit. Then I asked him to make an exception and give me another room & he refused to do so. Long story short They cancelled my reservation because there was an event going on that day at the hotel and they thought it was ok to resell my room to another person without letting me know. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY. This place is full of unprofessional people I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AT ALL. read more

We stayed in room 727, it was the best looking hotel we'd seen in TJ. I felt it was too expensive at 180 something dollars for the night but when I called around to other hotels, the others were even more. The service was ok, the hotel looked clean and safe. Our room looked over the courtyard/pool area. The shower in our room kept leaking lots of water all the way out of the bathroom towards the door so we had to put down lots of towels. We called to maybe get it fixed or possibly change rooms, but they said they'll bring more towels and fix it tomorrow; we got LOTS of towels. I read other reviews and saw some people had bed bugs, I looked and didn't see any, but I only looked at the time because my feet kept feeling little bites and were itching really bad, I didn't find a bug so I can't really blame them, but that was very strange. You can use pesos, dollars or credit card to pay, the transfer in the difference of monies should automatically be done by your credit card system, but make sure you call your bank/credit card to let them know if you are using the card from another county, so that your card is not blocked as a fraud protection measure. We caught an Uber there from the US border, which wasn't too far; so we didn't have to use the hotel's parking lot. It was pretty small for a hotel, but it seemed safe. They have a couple restaurants on site, 24 hour room service, free WiFi, check-in was at 3pm and check-out was at 12pm. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. This location is just a few minutes beyond the San Ysidro Border. It was centrally located to the airport and only about 30 minutes to Rosarito. We checked in with the friendly agents at the front desk and was escorted to our unit by the bellman. The room was a king size unit with modern convieniences. The layout was very relaxing and the shower was phenomenal. We wasted no time and headed to the bar where we started with drinks and were able to order food from the other restaurant. I ordered the steak and enchiliada and oh my was it delicious. We finished up with a second drink and headed back to the room where we ordered dessert. I had the carrot cake which was made quite differently than we usually get it here, it was very good. They have security on site as well which added to my ease of parking my vehicle on site. Overall great experience I would revisit this location again. read more

Terrible terrible terrible terrible experience. I booked a reservation through the hotel, received 2 confirmations, the first shortly after I booked and the second the day prior to my arrival. Both confirmations stated Ktower hotel stay. When I checked in, the kid at the front desk said I was booked at their sister property right next door at Lucerna. I asked to speak to the MGR, which of course it's Mexico and they're not working that day miraculously. I walked to Lucerna and spoke to the MGR, there Veronica which was completely worthless! She said because I was given a very low price on my reservation, I would have to stay at Lucerna because the price I was given was a Lucerna price. After bickering with her and her other incompetent sidekick Erick, I finally was able to get what I paid for. Veronica should "NEVER EVER" be in mgmt. Shes incompetent and lies as well as Erick. Unfortunately, this is very common in MX. read more

Absolutely love this place. The staff is very welcoming and nice. Stayed at the lucerna select room and got the romantic package along with it, which came with a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries as well as rose petals in the room. The room was very nicely decorated. Also with the lucerna select package we got Courtesy drinks alcoholic and non alcoholic and snacks in the Executive lounge which was very nice as well. Defenetely recomend for a nice weekend getaway. read more

The hotel is beautiful. It has a pool and the bellboy had VIP service. The check in girl did not even smile, she was basically bland. After our check out You have to watch for the coffee police, Ms. Valeria. She politely let us know that you can only have courtesy coffee if you are waiting for a room. However, the receptionist in the front said we could. Either way threw out the coffee, OXXo has WAY better coffee. Why did I give it three stars? When you give five stars you give it for the actual setting and customer service. This place was beautiful but the customer service was three stars. I would rather stay at the Ticuan for $75.00 US dollars and you feel welcomed and loved versus $135.00. read more

If I could give minus stars I would. Starting with the reception , they were cold , I didn't know the difference between the two types of rooms (they look almost identical in pictures) so I made a reservation on the lower price one which is only about $5-$10 less. I was informed that my room was on another building different from the main building , as I arrived there , the room looked old , but it was late and didn't want to make a big deal. As my sister and I were getting ready to go to bed , we checked the back sliding door and it was open , the lock was broken , I immediately called reception (which took like 10 min to connect) and the lady that answered was super rude and told me that they would send a maintenance guy right away , I didn't feel comfortable because we had a baby with us and it was almost midnight , so I suggested that I wanted a different room and she trued to persuade me not to move to a different room by any means. So I told her that I would pay the difference because I did not feel safe there anymore and she said that I had to pay $30 extra because I hadn't called right when we got there and that I had probably used the ned and the restroom already. So I agreed on paying the extra fee and went back to the reception where I asked to talk to the supervisor. It took about 10 min for him to arrive, remember I had a baby with us , so when he finally came he just briefly apologized . I told him that I didn't think it was fair that I had to pay for something that they should but he never offer a refund or anything. Our second room's light didn't work and the hallway smelled like weed , but we had little options at that time and they knew it. Needless to say , I will look for a place that has better customer service. I ended up paying $200 US for a terrible night . I could've gotten a nice room for that $$$ It's because of tourist like us that this kind of places are staying in business, we deserve to be treated right. read more

During my boyfriends surprise birthday trip to San Diego, I decided to take the surprise even farther with an overnight in Tijuana. It's been 12 years since I was last in Tijuana, and my has it changed for the better! Made a reservation on-line 2 weeks before the trip. I drove in with a rental car, the hotel is easy to find from the border, Google App had pretty decent directions, but if you are new to driving in Mexico, I highly recommend having someone to navigate. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very nice man who assisted us with our luggage. I had booked the "VIP" floor (floor 5, it is basically a concierge level). We were checked in early since the room was ready. We were escorted up to our room by two assistance, both spoke Spanish and English. They spoke to my partner in Spanish (he is fluent) and spoke with me in English (as I don't speak Spanish) They were highly aware of the languages we spoke and I really loved that. They set our A/C, told us how to use the shower, gave us information regarding the Breakfast, Snack Hour and Drink Hour as well as the WiFi. Our room overlooked the pool/ courtyard. Once we settled in we hit up the pool. That water was FREEZING, which is why I gave a 4 star and not a 5. It was probably around 55 degrees. I was able to get in and swim around, but my boyfriend wasn't. We did lay around the pool area in the sun for awhile and ordered poolside drinks. The VIP snack hour in the evening was fantastic. Delightful bites of broccoli salad, shrimp, chicken and veggies, guacamole, strawberries and chocolate and mango and chili's. They also had local wine, L.A Cetto, We were SO impressed by this wine, we put in effort looking for a bottle to bring back with us. We often found ourselves chatting with the staff and getting solid recommendations for places to visit, cities to check out in the future and honest opinions of where to stay away from. Every single person was amazing. As far as the area, we were comfortable enough to walk around in the evening, around 5 blocks to a nice restaurant and back again. The staff here are amazing. Friendly and provide true customer service. I'd stay here again in a heart beat! (As a white, English-Only speaking women, I felt very comfortable here. Yes, my partner speaks Spanish, but I easily communicated with everyone here on my own, I was never concerned about my safety). read more

If you're in Tijuana for the night this is the place to stay. It's all about customer service here. Stay on the 5th floor. You have your own private lounge with with drinks and snacks and breakfast. Food in restaurants wow wow wow. Lounge areas downstairs super cool. Always felt safe with lots of staff to keep an eye and provide whatever you need. read more

Hotel Lucerna - Patio area. Photo doesn't do it justice. - Hotels Near Me - Tijuana, BCN

We stayed at the hotel lucerna on June 5 2021, our experience was horrible starting with the front desk receptionist, she seems to be in a bad mod , just looking at her face you can tell that she was not having a good day. We made the reservation Over the website. our reservation were for 4 people. when we arrived at the hotel they charged us an extra $56 dls because the reservation was for two adults and two children even if it wasn't specified on the website. After we paid them the amount of $296 dls for one Night room, we decided to take our staff to the room, When we arrived to the room it was our worst experience, a broken table and a duty carpet, it feels that I was in a cheap motel. I told them about the broken table and asked to talk to the manager. she apologized for the inconvenient and offered us a different room Which it was ok but for the price wasn't wort it, specially in tijuana were you have many other options. The reason why we decided to stay here was because they didn't gave us the money back even if we ask for. Definitely we are not coming back and like I said, in the future we will be looking for something way better for the same price or less. read more

I went in with my husband and kids for a little get away and there was a liquid they fell on my purse and the liquid was the aroma for the smoking scent to go away so it was really strong!!! They didn't wasn't to move us rooms my purse got messed up and they didn't want to pay for it! And then they said I had two more adults lol which was a total lie!!! Because they just didn't want to Pay what my purse was worth! Anyways I don't recommend this hotel at all!!! read more

Great Hotel . From our arrival to departure everything was top notch. Food was great including room service and restaurant. Bar drinks top notch. This is a classy hotel from rooms to food ,drinks and overall service. We loved it and saw another side of TJ we hadn't seen. Hotel attentiveness , cleanliness and overall customer service from bell boy to bar employees, room service delivery employee, brunch restaurant server and Victor the Sunday brunch taco server at the pool ... excellent service! Lucerna hotel Completely changed our opinion of Tijuana and took us back to what a real Mexico hotel should offer you: Great food, great service, honest humble employees and to feel safe. read more

I called in for a roll-away bed a week before my stay, and was issued an e-mail saying the reservation for the extra bed was made. I then asked the front desk when I checked in for the bed, which they said was up there. There was no roll away bed. I left the hotel and came back after the wedding I attended, and again asked for the roll away bed, and the hotel desk informed me they had just run out. My dad ended up crossing the border to the U.S. that night and didn't stay at the hotel. The front desk man was rude, and said we had already gotten a good deal because of the group rate and offered me nothing more. I asked for a discount, because now I had to pay for the hotel all myself instead of splitting it. I did not get one. read more

Was doing a Food tour of Tijuana, and the Rosarito Beach area, and decided to use this place as our base of operations. We found it off Trip advisor, which was spot on. This place has all the charm, is super clean and modern, which seemed a little out of character when one thinks about Tijuana, but this place represents all that is new and good about a reformed TJ that offers a much more posh and insulated experience, should you seek it. Service was great, everything about the hotels was awesome except the TV's were like the 18" variety and old, which seemed out of place in such a nice room. Would definitely stay there again. read more

The hotel was near everything, was clean, and had good customer service. The room was basic but decent and clean. A bit pricier than what i would expect to pay in TJ but it's New Years weekend and it is in Plaza Rio which is in the center of town, so the price was understandable. The room was quiet with no noisy neighbors and the area was safe. Parking my car there overnight was free, which was a plus as usually you pay for secure safe overnight parking in TJ. read more

The stay was ok but I thought it would be better. For one when we arrived they didnt help us much to take our things down and two they didnt park our car. I was a guest at Lucerna Hotel in BC at Zona Rio on 11/16/2022. I went to ask if they had available rooms for the night last minute, the reception said Yes, Gave all my information and got my room keys and did not bother to check the room and left. Came back to my room about 8pm to find that the air conditioning was not working, the tile floor leading to the restroom was not cleaned ((hair and dirt on the floor) The shower had Mold and hair! No towels. I had to call 2 times to get towel's. I was told that there were no other rooms available to move to. I spoke to a Manger the next morning about 8am by the name of Claudia Rodríguez, Who came to verify the room, who reassured me this would be taken care of the same day 11/17/22. I did not receive a call nor any email. I followed up on 11/18/22 at 8:15am she was not available. I called at 3:30pm and still not available. I asked to speak to her manager then she was available and got me nowhere. I spoke to her boss the Manuel Padilla he offered a discount on my future visit. He was rude and very disrespectful. I loved this hotel. The pool, the in house restaurants bars and pool tables. It's a great hotel. Unfortunately for me it wasn't a good time . Came with a family of 10 plus and booked 4 rooms over the phone. Specifically asked that we were all on the same floor . That didn't happen. One of the families on the trip with us ended up in a whole other building. Ok whatever. So next one of our families doesn't get their room till 6:00pm. Check in is at 3:00pm. So next thing that happens I fell, I fell in their property due to their slippery wet floors. It hurt so bad. They don't have any mats to prevent people from slipping when clearly people are coming in and out of the pool drenched. No signs no nothing. Ok I fell my bags flew everywhere . Thankfully my family wasn't so far away and saw the whole thing and came to assist me. My sister was pissed. All of a sudden all the hotel staff scattered ! They offered a wheel chair but I could walk. Fernando, the best hotel staff was the one that took one for the team, I think he is a bell boy. He was a one man army. He got someone to start drying up the floor and got some ice for my elbow. No management or actual hotel staff in charge in the front desk came to ask if I was ok . So I left to my room limping. Upset because my night was ruined . We had plans of going out to the hotel bar with my husband and enjoy our family vacation. Didn't happen. After my mother went and told them what happened when everyone clearly saw what happened they offered to take me to a Dr. they called a taxi for me and I went to get checked. They prescribe some medication the hotel paid for it and had it ready for me the next morning. The General Hotel Manager (forgot her name) made all the arrangements and was genuinely concerned. Finished at the Dr and the hotel had a taxi bring me back . That's how my Saturday night went on my once a year mini family vacation. Bummer. Next morning we had breakfast, which was good and tried to make the best of it . It was unfortunate the trip had to turn sour because of their negligence to not have at least some mats at their hotel entrance to prevent falls. Please do something about that. Anyways despite all the inconveniences I would like to give this hotel another chance. My uncles are regulars here and have never had any bad experiences and speak very highly of this Hotel. Hopefully next time once I decide when to come back it can change my mind. Special shout out to Fernando the bell boy. He is amazing at doing his job and genuinely is there to make your stay a pleasant one. Gracias Fernando por todo! read more

On our stay we reserved the 1st tower which was where the bar and the check in is located. We stayed in the 6th floor, which is the best one. We got to wake up to the beautiful view of the pools and the city of Tijuana. I Like the fact that its located in Zona Rio which is a good area and right out the san ysidro boarder. Perfect for people with kid. The only think I dislike was the parking. We stayed there from 06/29/2017- 07/04/2017 and 3 nights of the stay we had to wait for a parking for 1 hour because they have constant events. I feel like if we paid for the hotel we shouldn't have to wait for parking and people who rent the hotel for an event should have a designated area for them. We were really tired and we had to wait to park our vehicle. I however like the fact that there is a dominos pizza and a starbucks across the hotel. read more

Booked for three nights but left after the first one. As soon as the bellman open the door I got sick to my stomach with a foul smell. The room smelled like mold and onions. They stuck us in the very back of hotel and it was dark and depressing. Left without showering because I was afraid of catching something in the shower. The food was excellent but they could never get our order right. I really like my coffee in the morning but for some reason they never showed up with it. They have a nice selection of food but not all the items are available on it. They were not very COVID 19 strict at all.
