I hope you take the time to read my letter to management about my recent experience with this hotel, and if you are ever in Boston, stay here!!! Please read below:
Dear Adam,
I am writing this letter to you today to let you know about my recent experience at your hotel on April 9th, 2014. I specifically want to let you know about two of your employees who showed me the smallest bit of kindness, but to me, at that moment, granted me the ability to share a moment and a memory in my life that I will never forget. To truly understand what Tim Crowley and Yohanes Ferede did for me, I need to give you a little bit of back story.
I live in Washington State, and my daughter lives up in New Hampshire, attending school at Plymouth State University. Needless to say, I only get to see her once a year, if we are lucky. My daughter and I are very close, and the time that we get to spend together is cherished deeply since we don't get to see each other often.
About a month ago, her boyfriend sent me an email about her birthday on the 10th. Her boyfriend offered to pay for half of my plane ticket if I could come out and be here for her birthday, he said it would mean the world to her if I could be there for her. When I read that email, my heart was overwhelmed with emotion. What a kid, what a kid!
So a plan was hatched! I was able to get the time off from work and I thought how awesome would it be if I could surprise her at a Red Sox game!! I took a redeye flight in from Portland, Oregon to Boston Tuesday night and got into Logan at 7:30 AM. I couldn't check a bag or a suitcase since I would be in Boston by myself until the game started at 4:00. Rolling a suitcase around town and three different transfers on the T would be difficult! So, I decided I would bring a large backpack that would be easy enough to transport around. Normally, bringing in a backpack wouldn't have been a problem in Fenway, but I also had to unexpectedly bring along my work laptop due to a deadline I had to meet on Tuesday night. I couldn't bring both my laptop and my purse & backpack to the ballpark.
I was told that The UPS store or Fedex stores will sometimes check in a bag for you for a small fee, so once I got to Fenway, I started making my way to find either one of these two stores. I didn't know if this was true or not, hoping it was.....Not being familiar with area, I just started walking and figured someone along the way would know where the stores were. I made my way down Comm Ave, I saw your doormen at the Hotel. I stopped and asked them if they knew were either one of these two stores were, and neither of them did, but they went inside and asked your employee, Tim Crowley. I proceeded to tell him my story of the plan to surprise my daughter for her birthday at the game, and he said that I could check in my backpack and laptop case for me while I was at the game.
I couldn't believe it. I was so grateful, I wasn't even a guest at your hotel, and he offered to help me. I didn't know what I was going to do if I couldn't find either store, or if they said no. I couldn't bring both bags in and I couldn't leave a backpack lying around!!! He told me that once the game was over to get my bags from Yohanes. I told them that I was going to write you and let you know about how GREAT they are, and they were more concerned about posting a positive review on tripadvisor.com, rather than taking any credit for what they did for me. Wow.
I have to say that you are very lucky to have two great employees - and these two not only represented your hotel, but also represent the GREAT people of Boston and the State of Massachusetts.
Because of your two employees, I was able to give my daughter the absolute surprise of her life! The look on her face when she saw me come up to her seat at Fenway was priceless. Nothing could replace this special moment in both of our lives.
So thank you again, and please thank Tim and Yohanes for giving me this priceless gift.
