Row34 and Blue Ribbon Sushi are also worth checking out and conveniently located on the hotel property for easy access to and from the hotel. Made some friends down there while grabbing a drink Great food and drinks! Luxury and grandeur are highlights here! The Hotel Commonwealth is a beautiful place with grand architecture and awesome inspiring views. These views come from inside and outside the building. It's located in Boston, lots of pride here for the baseball team, it's the "official home," of the Boston Red Sox . As you walk and down the Ave of Commonwealth, the traffic is terrible. Make sure and watch and experience the area as a pedestrian. When you check into the hotel the parking is all valet. Remember this is a luxurious place and the parking is pricey about $75 a night . You can check in around four p.m. too! The experience is absolutely flawless. They have all that you need to have a great evening . We are on vacation and they have in room dining . This hotel is in a great area and overall was a decent experience. The hotel staff were friendly and the room service was good. However, for the price I expected more. The lobby is nice but the rooms need some work. I noticed a lot of furniture was chipped as were doors etc throughout the space. Also, housekeeping left hair in the shower which really bothered me. Finally, our floor overall kept being a bit muggy and musty when we would leave and come back. Also, the lobby is not cohesive with the rooms--completely different style/decor. 3.5/5 read more

I had a meh experience overall, but not sure whether it was the hotel or my job. I was sent to Boston for a conference on a prepaid trip. Fully. I had receipts. I got to the hotel and they told me my reservation wasn't paid and they didn't have my confirmation. At 11pm after I'd waited 45 minutes to check in after arriving late due to a delayed flight and waiting behind a tour bus. Sigh. The manager eventually picked up what I was putting down: I was NOT paying $1200 for a prepaid reservation and he took my deposit and checked me in but what high shenaniganry was this?!??? It took me 40 minutes to check in- entirely unnecessary. I was so angry and exhausted when I finally got to my room. Not a good first impression. Reservations & Check in 2/10 The room was... good. The shower wasn't truly clean but the room itself was fairly clean. The bed was comfortable but not top 10 of hotel beds I've stayed in. Overall cleanliness and comfort. 7/10. I had issues with my keycard the next day and had to go down to the front desk twice after walking back from the conference. In heels. Because nobody picked up the phone when I called. And called. Then I waited almost 45 minutes for a microwave. Customer service 1/10 The amenities were fine. The gym was well-equipped, had water and towels, and accessible. 9/10 The location is the draw. The hotel is right next to Fenway with rooms that overlook the field. Not my jam as I needed sleep, but I understand the convenience. I was there for a conference at the Quaestrom school of business and that's a 5 minute walk. Additionally you don't need an Uber here at all, everything is walking distance. There is a Starbucks, Dunkin' and 7-11 within 2 blocks and there are tons of restaurants. I had Indian one night and walked a few blocks to a French Mediterranean spot another night. I really enjoyed my recent stay at HC. Was in Boston for business and not knowing the area, I'm very lucky to have stumbled upon this option. This is a round UP from a 4.5 because they were renovating the lobby, which made the check in experience less than relaxing, but they definitely made up for it with a classy complimentary bottle of wine and chocolate that they left in my room the next day! Overall, very modern, clean atmosphere with a really nice touches throughout. I don't know much about Boston, but I realized that this is some central real estate across from Fenway Park and in a pretty busy part of town. My room was spacious, clean, and well appointed. Comfy bed and AMAZING shower! I truly don't have any complaints. Attached restaurants are really nice... Blue Ribbon sushi and another which was closed while renovating. This hotel is located right next to the Kenmore station. So it's very easy to hop on to the commuter rail to get to a train station. We took the train to Salem for a day and it was so easy! The hotel concierge even printed out step by step directions to help us find our way easily! We had rented a car at the airport which we used to take a few excursions. We went to an Honeypot Hill Apple Orchard in Stowe, MA. We also drove through Cape Cod to Provincetown. The hotel is across the street from Boston University. The hotel has free coffee in the morning, breakfast foods for sale and always smells clean and fresh. The valets and porters were very accommodating and helpful! 10/10 would stay here again. I would definitely recommend staying here! If you are a Red Sox fan, Fenway Park is right across the street (highway?). There's two nice restaurants next door, a fancy sushi restaurant and a nice French restaurant. There's a 7-11, a McDonald's, and a Starbucks on the same block. Prime location for MGM/House of Blues concerts with a 2 minute walk. The hotel itself is nice but could be better with simple things like a pen and paper in rooms, extra blankets, and a real door on the bathroom. The employees were nice and the valet is nice but maybe mandatory? The backside of the building is dirty and i saw rats running at midnight. The shower pressure is poor but the shower itself was nice. Bathrobes were a nice touch. No ice bucket in the room?? The view of Fenway is cool. The lights from fenway/MGM strobed in my room all night until the sun-came up and then I used the blackout curtains which worked well. stayed here a few times now but may look into other option's first next time depending on a few things. read more

I found Hotel Commonwealth via Booking.com and booked it primarily due to its proximity to Northeastern University. The property is well located in the city and literally across the street from Fenway. It definitely has an upscale boutique type feel throughout, from the front desk to the lobby and room decor. Our group ended up in two different types of rooms - one party of two in a king suite and a party of 3 in a double queen room (Fenway view). Both rooms were well appointed and spacious with comfortable beds and room temps. The bathrooms were clean, modern, and were stocked with very nice Malin+Goetz soaps, shampoo, etc. The suite was especially good for hanging out and even eating take out together. The staff was very friendly and beyond accommodating. From bringing up coffee makers to delivering buckets of ice, they were on top of it with a smile. I'd have no hesitation to recommend this hotel and we will certainly stay here again when in Boston. BTW - current pricing is low in my opinion and must be due to a lack of travelers during COVID. It's truly a steal at what we paid. Speaking of COVID, all the staff wore masks and sterilized common areas frequently from what I saw. There were plenty of hand sanitizers around the hotel too. They've got parking in a garage around the back of the block...a short walk and only a slight inconvenience. You've got to tell them to open the gate for entry before pulling around. Although some nearby businesses were closed (temporarily?) due to the pandemic, this is clearly an area which is walkable to a handful of decent eating/drinking establishments and there's a 7-11 on the same block for snacks and other necessities. read more

Stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth for one night only and mainly for its very close proximity to Fenway Park. (+) Outstanding location! If you are here for a Red Sox game, then you are less than a 10-minute walk from the Ball Park and all the surrounding bars, restaurants, and fun! We paid the upgrade charge to get a view of Fenway Park from the room and I feel like it is totally worth it! There is also a Metro train station about a 3-minute walk away. Yup, you read that right. This made it too convenient to just jump on the train and move about Boston faster and easier! (+) Rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. There was a good amount of space to stretch out and the bathroom area was spacious and well stocked. Plenty of towels and washcloths available! I also appreciate that you get an empty mini-fridge in the room. (+) Service was very friendly. We arrived around noon time, so our room wasn't ready yet. They checked our bags and gave us a call when the room was ready. This allowed us to go visit Cheers and then head back to check into the room. On top of all that, they still checked us in a couple of hours early! (+) Those beds were extremely cozy and comfortable, and I got a great night's sleep here! Can't always count on that when you're traveling. (+) Great view of the classic Citgo sign every time you walk out the front of the property. (Red Sox fans will know) (+) Area felt very safe to walk around after the Red Sox game let out at 11 pm. (-) Resort fee nonsense. $35 per night is ridiculous for things that so many guests will never use (including myself on this trip). I know everybody does it these days, but that doesn't make it any less of a tasteless cash grab. (-) Limited options available for a small drink to take back to the room. 7-11 nearby does not sell any alcohol. Sometimes it's nice to have a small nightcap in the room as opposed to paying too much at a loud bar. We paid a pretty penny for this room just to be close for our game at Fenway Park and it really delivered big time! I will absolutely stay here again if my travels bring me back to Boston one day! 4 solid stars. read more

Purchased the fenway park suite for my husband as a wedding gift on Dec 11, 2023 for opening day April 9-10 2024. Way in advanced. We called April 5th and asked for early check in on that room, which they said no problem they would make the note. When my husband arrived they told him there was mix up and gave him a different suite! When I spoke to front desk he told me they OVERBOOKED the Fenway room....WELL DUH. So completely disappointed. They offered to give us (live in California) 50% off our next booking for this suite. Lmao. Front desk guy i talked to was nice but we never recommend this hotel to any of my clients, family or friends...oh yeah...I am a hairstylist that has been in many hotels for brides and i am so upset with the way you overbooked opening day. That room should not have even been available to book as WE BOOKED IT. This room shouldn't even have been an option for other people to book, especially on opening day at FENWAY! PERIOD! read more

If I could give this hotel 100 stars I would. I was fortunate enough to stay here for a long weekend, and to say the front desk staff was accommodating is an understatement. There was a mishap with my reservation (that was not the hotel's fault - it was the fault of the third party reservation service), but Mr. Jeffrey Ney (the front desk director) and Nick at the front desk treated me like a celebrity. After I checked in, Nick from the front desk called me 30 minutes later to make sure everything was OK. I felt SO special. The level of thoughtfulness was unlike anything I have ever experienced at any hotel, and I am a world traveler. The front desk knew me by first name, and gave me the friendliest greeting every time I came downstairs. If I needed recommendations, they directed me where to go - or where to order from...and even though the reservation mishap was not their fault, I was welcomed into a very, very nice room with a bottle of Prosecco, a charcuterie board and a personalized note. When there was an issue with my TV's Chromecast, engineering was at my door within minutes to fix it. When I forgot toothpaste, a dental kit was delivered. I honestly could go on... Folks, if you are able to stay at this hotel... don't hesitate. The rooms are immaculate. The decor is so cool! The location is amazing - it's just a 5-min walk away from Fenway Park. This is the second time we've stayed at Hotel Commonwealth and each time exceeds our expectations. The place is conveniently located off of the Kenmore stop on the Green Line. The staff is always so accommodating. They allowed for us to have an early check in after our red eye from California. The doormen (Mr. Steven and Mr. Eddie) were always so welcoming and made us laugh each time we entered and exited the hotel. On our last day, the bellmen, Mr. Steven even gave my nephew a departing lobster puzzle and baseball gift! This place is a gem and we will be staying with them again in the future. read more

I have stayed at many hotels and this was by far one of my favorite experiences. The rooms were clean, spacious and ours had a fun view of the street/buildings (which our toddler loved because he could see buses and trucks), but no noise issues. The bed (king) was huge and comfy. The location is great, right next to Fenway and literally right above a T stop (their public transportation) that takes you right downtown in less than 15 minutes. You do not need a car at all in this city but especially at this location. The area felt safe with our family, and was right across the street from Boston University. The staff members were the friendliest I've ever encountered, from the bellman to the valet to the front desk to the housekeepers (who were so sweet to our toddler) and to the manager. Everyone was so accommodating, helpful and made us truly feel like we were welcome. They had umbrellas for rainy days, good breakfast and dinner room service options, a nice lobby with lots of space, tables, etc. that I used to work in after checking out and a place to hold your luggage if needed. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Prior to booking I worked with Paul to figure out a solution for bringing our toddler and staying in the room block/rate of the conference that I was attending. He was really helpful and friendly and helped us get a perfect room with a little extra space for our kid to sleep. The Manager Jeff was also awesome - helping my husband set up a late birthday surprise for me with chocolates and champagne. This was really fun to find when we came into our room after a long day of travel. My only complaint is that the valet parking is expensive and there isn't really a cheaper garage within walking distance. I believe this is the case for anywhere in the city though! The location, rooms and level of service from everyone we met made our trip really easy and memorable, and we would definitely stay here again when we're in Boston and highly recommend for anyone visiting (especially with a kid, super child-friendly). read more

Ah I wish I could give more stars to this hotel. My husband and I spent Christmas in Boston with my family, and booked two nights at Hotel Commonwealth after finding a terrific deal for the Executive Suite. There are also two restaurants on the premises so I was excited. Oh arrival, valet took care of our car and we proceeded to check in, which went smoothly. We stayed on the fourth floor and the room was spacious and had a beautiful view. I looked at the room service menu, which was more extensive than most, and saw that the food is from the Eastern Standard restaurant. Our suite had a full length mirror and a spacious bathroom with a separate toilet - much appreciated! I started off with high hopes for the hotel, and looked past the fact that the room seemed rather dingy. Maybe that was the style? I wouldn't say my stay was bad, but I had higher expectations for a 4 star hotel. What bothered me most were the little things: - There was only one robe for the suite - No coffee/coffee maker/tea/ice bucket. I don't think I've been to a hotel that didn't have coffee... - Worst hairdryer ever. Now I'm not unreasonable, I don't expect hotel hairdryers to be extraordinary, but it barely turned on - The water pressure was extremely high, to an uncomfortable point - Towels were "crunchy", as if they've been used for the past 10 years or so. Didn't expect an exfoliation upon coming out of the shower! - The bed felt sunken in, and the pillows went flat as soon as I put my head down. Now for the pros: - on site gym - large room service menu from Eastern Standard - 2 restaurants - across the street from Kenmore Square T stop - convenience store a block away - Commonwealth Avenue views - loved the French doors separating the sleeping/living area - large suite 600 sq ft - Malin + Goetz bath products - Polite staff - Beautiful lobby Overall average experience because I had a great deal on the rate. The Red Sox and BU Terriers themes are fun and I appreciated that the room had complimentary books, a DryBar hairdryer and a thoughtful gift from the management who made certain we had just the right room. Disorganized and indifferent front desk staff, dirty and run-down rooms with cheap fixtures that haven't aged well over the years - plenty of scuff and dings. Many rooms have balconies but these overlook the Mass Pike which makes them unusable, as they are filthy and deafening at all hours. The hotel is built right on the highway, so many of the rooms are loud even with windows closed. Onsite restaurants serve dinner only, so it's Starbucks or Dunkin for breakfast unless you're willing to travel further. On top of it all, it is not cheap. If you're a die hard Red Sox fan charmed by the theme decor and willing to overlook these many flaws, go for it, but I cannot recommend it as a place to stay in Boston. read more

Room was beautiful. Bed and linens comfortable! Front desk lady needs to learn some customer service skills. We asked to change rooms after our first night with very little air conditioning. She told us in a very rude tone that the hotel was fully booked. I then went on line to see what rooms were available to find that there were still several rooms left to choose from. My husband called down to ask if we could cancel and she said Yes. She did not tell us we would get charged for the late cancel. The next morning we noticed the hotel tried to charge my credit card. Great overnight stay with a Groupon deal. Lovely 2 queen bed room on fifth floor facing Fenway Park. Clear view of the signage from our room. Really nice finishes in the room. Two bottles of water in mini fridge, poke chip entitled is to free coffee, pastry, fruit cup and apple juice for our family. Not typical, but barista prepared cappuccino and coffee from one of their restaurants. Really nice bathroom with a rain shower. Convenient location to Kenmore stop in Green line and we went to TD Garden for a Celtics game. Parking was an addl $58, but worth it given parking in the area. We attended a wedding here recently and were surprised and disappointed in some of the fails by the hotel's team; especially a hotel of this calibre. I believe they could have done a better job in execution. From the beginning, there was a long line at the primary bar; and guests were not made aware, or directed towards a second bar located at the end of the mile-long hallway. Some of the hot hors d'oeuvres like the crab-cakes were served ice cold and were dry, others were were at room temperature and difficult to handle on those asian soup-spoons - like the shrimp with tails intact on a spoon. Try eating one with a drink in your one hand... Then, there was nowhere to set the spoons down once you were done. The reception started almost 30 minutes later than expected and the team did not usher guests into the ballroom until the last moment. The ballroom is rather small and tight, the bathrooms are a LONG walk. And the room lighting was poorly managed. Some of the sconces were crooked, some were lit, and others were not, several had expired bulbs and were OUT on top or bottom of the tubes. The lighting just looked and felt sloppy and neglected. The salad and main course were adequate, and overall, it was a fair experience. I could not recommend this hotel for social events, it seems better suited for corporate meetings. read more

Hotel commonwealth was ok. I stayed here pre- covid and it was absolutely amazing. Needles to say covid did change everything. My room smelled so incredibly stale that I went out and bought a can of Febreze. And the incredible thing is you smelled it as soon as you walked in the room. I know the maid staff smelled it. I had to call downstairs because the tub was covered in hair (oh and it wasn't mine). So they sent a guy up to vacuum the shower. $4000 for 5 days. And the shower needs to b cleaned of a stale room. I didn't even complain about the the stalenish. I figured why bother. The staff knew when they put you there. ( no one says " hey boss this room really needs to b aired out b4 we put guests in it?". And the hair in the shower long strains . A little disgusting . So lesson learned. I cannot stay at the hotel commonwealth again. It's just that simple. ( just be aware that it has gone down hill ) and is really no longer a 4 or 5 star hotel. On a positive note, the staff incredibly nice and knowledgeable about the city and the best places to eat. Other than that try another hotel close to fenway. I'm booking either the Lenox or the Elliot next month when my husband and I go back. read more
