I visited and ordered this place on a whim to take out. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and vegetable lo mein. Off the bat I was disappointed when I asked for some hot oil sauce on the side, I was quickly told 50 cents. First I ever ever heard they charged for that. I was surprised how quick the food was ready. It to not even ten minutes maybe. When I got home I was saddened to see how little food was in the containers. There was so much empty space in my chicken container. The lo mein container was smaller than most, if not, all Chinese places I've eaten from. Also I had asked to make my chicken spicy. It ended up being sweet instead. To sum it up, this place came off as being cheap, more money for less food. Quality and taste definitely lacked. Horrible experience and business etiquette. First time visit, order to go because my little one wanted Chinese after blood drawn and just wanted to go home. Saw this was in the area and order 2 chicken and fried rice. "Mark" picked up my order said it will be 5 minutes and in 8 min I was there. Every thing was nice and Mark was very kind. This is where it gets awkward, Mark tells me the cost, I give him my card and then points to where the Tip Amount slot is. Im sorry but tipping under pressure never works for me. Horrible way to do business. With that being said, I didn't leave a tip and paid for the $16.78 for the 2 small bowls. Mark then had a very visible mug and takes off to the back, he takes a while to bring the food out. Awful feeling and it shouldn't be like this. I shouldn't feel you are doing something with the food in the back because I didn't leave you a tip for taking my order. Please don't pressure tip, nor get the food ready after you see if I tip you or not. Good business practice, be kind to people at all times. To say the least, Mark left such a bad feeling, I threw away the food and went to good ol Chick Fil A. Where is always their pleasure :) read more

They charge for hot oil, they should at least give 1 hot oil per plate..... I rather drive 10 more mins to jade bamboo and get the same quality food and not get questioned why I need so much hot oil. read more

I guess it was just the morning shift that was bad because when I came to make a to-go order the service was great. The food...I ordered wonton soup, shrimp fried rice, egg rolls and peppered chicken. Everything tasted great except the wonton soup. It was a little bland but that can be fixed with soy sauce added. I would rather have my food bland than too salty. You can add salt if needed but you can't take it out. read more

Do not come here. I called and placed a to go order, got there, and they charged my card more than what I owed. When I went back in to let them know, they told me they already knew. They told me they refunded the transaction and wanted to charge me the correct amount. I told them if the money was not immediately in my account, I did not want to pay for a second time. I told them they could have their food back, but asked for my card. They said they would not give me my card until I gave them the food. I said no, and then I was asked if they could write my card number down in case I didn't bring their food back!! I again said no, but said the lady could come outside and get the food from me. She then decided to let me keep the food and said my card would still be refunded. 3 days later, my card wasn't refunded, instead it billed me the same incorrect amount for a second time!! I called as soon as I noticed and the younger girl that caused all of this, answered. She let me explain for like a minute, said "but you ended up with the food right?" (NOT THE POINT) and put me on hold for 5 minutes while she took another call. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional restaurant in my life. read more

Excellent Hunan Chicken! I'm not usually one to like much of any sauce and if I have sauce I prefer light sauce, but not this time! I even soaked my steamed rice in it. The food was nothing special. The flavors were not vibrant or distinctive. No vegetables on the plate and everything was overcooked. We ordered the orange chicken. Good flavor but kind of OneNote. Chicken was not very crisp and not very much on the plate for $14 almost. We also ordered pad Thai and it was once again not anything special. None of the vegetables with Crisp and it was a bland flavor. I did not think the cost was very appropriate for the quality of food and the amount of food. read more

We had Chicken fried rice, Kung Pao beef, the egg rolls, crab rangoons and the sweet and sour chicken all of which were fantastic. I love chinese food, but it is hard to find a good chinese restaurant. I got the fried rice egg rolls and white rice. The eggrolls are spectacular i mean wow its hard to find those. the fried rice is good and the white rice was okay, white rice togo usually dosent taste good to me but its okay. First, let me say that every single staff member here is so sweet. I haven't called too many Chinese restaurants where you could actually hear a smile on the other end of the phone, so that was awesome & the reason for the 2 stars. On the other hand, I had high hopes that the food would be as "excellent" as I've been told. I agree with a couple other reviewers that the portions were more lunch-sized, which I wasn't expecting for the $30+ price. We ordered the sweet & sour chicken meal + Mongolian beef meal. The Mongolian beef had about five thin strips of beef and lots of onions, and both meals were bland and gummy. If they adjust the food to be as awesome as the people, we're in!! Tried Hot Wok after hearing all of the rave reviews. Instead of dine in, I noticed they started delivery. Their online ordering makes the process easy breezy! Said allow minimum of 55 minutes for delivery, but to my surprise they were at my door in 20 minutes. Their food is a little more pricey than your average Chinese take out, but the food quality seems better- so to me, worth it. The sweet and sour chicken & orange chicken were both delicious. Egg rolls were much less greasy than your normal take out egg rolls. My only issue is their egg drop soup-- it was literally like jelly consistency. Ick. read more

Tried thus restaurant with wife and son Saturday evening. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. I had the beef with garlic sauce, my son the bourbon chicken and my wife the chicken and broccoli My beef was fork tender. All were prepared fresh and the portions were large. My family and I are headed out of town on Christmas. Thankfully, Hot Wok was open because nothing else nearby is! It was the first time trying them out. Everything was delicious. The place, from the exterior, looks like it's a takeout place only, but it's not. It has plenty of seating inside. The inside is actually very nice and extremely clean. I am not sure where to start other than to say this was our best experience at any local Cypress restaurant. The soup was fresh and hot served quickly after we sat down. The crab ragoon and egg rolls were cooked fresh with the cheese oozing out. We had General Tso's, orange chicken, chicken with garlic. All the dishes were fresh and piping hot served in less than ten minutes after originally sitting down. The service was excellent. I am almost embarrassed to write such a good review. Tried ordering online. They delivered too early. On the way home stopped in to see about dinner. The were very apologetic and assured me the food would be freshly prepared and delivered on time. The food came exactly when it was supposed to be, the lady was very nice. And they threw in an extra order of egg rolls for our trouble. The food is what we have always expected from Hot Wok. Very average food for a high price. I had my technician pick up some food for me. I asked for them to make the orange chicken spicy. Maybe I like more pepper than the average person but I definitely would not consider this spicy. I asked for fried rice instead of white rice. He never told me over the phone that there would be an upcharge. When I got my receipt from my technician I was charged an extra dollar. That has never happened! You usually get a choice.. I didn't have any soy sauce or hot mustard. my technician said they did not offer any and he didn't think to get me any because he did not see any. That's usually standard as far as I've known. I was told that they charge extra for hot oil after I ordered. the food is just okay. And my family and I eat Chinese food all the time. This was much more expensive than what we're used to paying. The portion size was fine. I was pleasantly surprised to find their work 3 egg rolls instead of the normal 2 but other than that I doubt if I'll be back. read more
