Even then, she only said, "What can I get you?" We ordered soda, water & a wings/ fries combo & side salad. She brought it all out at once and scurried off silently. We had no place settings/utensils. At the same time we got up to ask for some, another patron was doing the same. We also had to ask for napkins. A look of disdain, and she silently brought them a few minutes later. It was at least 92 or so outside. We never were brought additional water, nor asked. Our soda went empty also. We realized, after the first 20 min that, there were only 1 waitress & 1 man that was hosting and assisting her. BUT, there were only 3 other tables of 1 or 2 patrons each. Communicating to us, that they were very overwhelmed, would have gone a long way. Pretending to care that we were ignored, would have gone a long way. Many years ago, Mimi's Cafe had a Southern style salad of chicken tenders on top of lettuce with tomatoes, corn, green beans, and 2 very large boats of dressing (one wing sauce, one ranch). Sometimes I try to recreate that salad at home, but I've never found a restaurant that makes it quite as good as Mimi's Cafe. The equivalent salad at Hot Wings Cafe isn't great, but it isn't awful, either. They give you 2 choices for your chicken - grilled or chopped chicken tenders tossed in wing sauce. The waitress was nice enough to bring me 2 cups of ranch on the side, and this was a satisfactory lunch. There seemed to be one waitress for the entire lunch crowd, and she was on top of it. I never had to flag her down, and she managed to stop by every so often. The food arrives really quickly, as others have mentioned. The menu also has a lot of interesting things on it - philly cheese sandwiches, reuben sandwiches, etc. I would love to get the 8 wings with french fries, but my high cholesterol doesn't allow it. This is one of the messiest things to eat and I saw a young overly touchy probably HS age couple get hot sauce on their hands and on each other. Tell mama how that hand stain get in your pants! So, I got the large order of hot and vinegary wings for lunch. I was thirsty,too and with all the phosphoric acid in the coke I was going to drink, I needed to tone down the acid. This is a pretty good deal for $38, but sadly the wings are not all that great from here. They're dry, slightly over cooked, and were a bit stale, especially the ones with less sauce. They weren't the worst wings I've ever had but no where near incredible. And as long as you like pitchers of hefe with your wings, then what is there not to like. You get a mix of wings and thighs, you can get any sauce you want (we of course got blue cheese, ranch, and a side of hot sauce), and you can get extra veggies, and by veggies, I mean both carrots and celery.
