We made a quick stop at La Familia after spending the afternoon at Jane D'Amico Playground, and it was hands down the best decision we made. Everything about our visit was phenomenal: Food: I ordered the mussels in white wine sauce. My son got the chicken parm, and he hasn't stopped raving about it. It was, by far, the most comforting and delicious meal we've had in a long time. Hospitality: The staff here is unmatched. A special shout-out to the hostess, Noelle, who was absolute gold! She went above and beyond by bringing my son paper so he could draw while we waited. Speaking of waiting... the food came out super fast! Bonus: They do NOT play around with their bread portions. I walked in around 7:40 and there were signs all over the windows saying NO HOT SUBS. I'm assuming the grill had already been cleaned for the night, which is a little disappointing when there's still plenty of time before closing. If you're open, I kind of expect the menu to be open too. So I ordered a giant club instead -- over $20 with everything on it. The girl making it seemed like she would rather be literally anywhere else, and the attitude definitely matched the sandwich. Then came the bread situation. Apparently there wasn't enough regular bread available for a giant sub, so mine was basically pieced together like a bread jigsaw puzzle. The finishing touch was the bacon. I watched the employee move the nice pieces of bacon aside with his hand, then scoop up the crumbled bits from the bottom of the pan and dump those on my sandwich instead. Nothing says "$20+ giant sub" quite like getting the bacon equivalent of the crumbs at the bottom of a potato chip bag. I'm actually sitting in the parking lot writing this because I don't think I've ever gotten such a poorly made sandwich from this location. I've always liked coming here, which is why tonight was so disappointing. I'll definitely think twice before coming back on a Monday night. Apparently weekends are when the good bread, bacon, grill -- and enthusiasm -- are available.

The sesame bread was like a pillow, the meat was so tender, and the peppers and onions were expertly caramelized. To top it off the cheese was melted inside of the ingredients and almost felt like a super gooey sauce. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. I also had their sea salt chips. Incredibly crispy and not too salty. And a chocolate chip cookie because I may as well try everything. It was probably one of the best cookies I've ever had. Crispy on the outside while being soft and gooey in the middle. Everything was a perfect 10/10. A little too heavy for a regular lunch but as a once in a while treat Duo can't be beaten. The buffalo chicken mac and cheese is great when the blue cheese crumbles are remembered, the chicken birria tacos can be flavorful but often missing the chipotle sauce or broth (or both!), and the southern fried chicken is frequently missing the gravy. The baja fish tacos can be soggy with inconsistent portions, and the honey mustard wrap is often more salad than chicken. Checking your order before leaving can help prevent some of these oversights. And again, when the kitchen gets these things right, you're in for a delicious meal. Some other items we love that haven't become takeout blunders yet include the burgers, the nashville hot chicken sandwich, the greek salad, and garlic parm fries. The southwest steak and avocado bowl, however, is overpriced for the small amount of steak, and the vegetable sides need much more seasoning. Stopped in for takeout to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were too tired to go out somewhere. That was a mistake. We ordered five dishes, and the chicken moo shi and the chicken lo mein were the only items in the good range. Worst dish was the spicy crispy pork chop, which must have been refried a few times. Consistency was like jerky, tough, chewy to the point of having to pull the piece while in your teeth. Spicy, but after a piece we did not eat more. The general gao's chicken had too much batter on it making the pieces like chewy tootsie rolls. Last was beef and broccoli, which was okay, beef was a bit chewy and the veg was okay. Wife thinks new management or new chef, as these dishes we have curated as their best, after suffering through some not good dishes. Restaurant business is hard, proteins are expensive, now vegetables are expensive and inconsistent in pricing due to tariffs, transport costs. May have to forgo this place in the future and look to drive towards Quincy where competition makes for better restaurants.

What a fantastic complex Kraft has built. So many reasons to visit Foxboro by car or train.
