Not the best chicken Been to my fair share of chicken tender places. This is a chain that I have yet to try, so on the way back from Boston I made a detour to give this place a try. The inside has a lot of character. When I came in there was no one making the front. We ordered online and the order was ready when I pulled into this location. It took someone about 5 minutes to even show, and they immediately started ringing up people in the order line rather than address those waiting to pick up. Another 2 minutes later. Someone else shows up, fetches the bag behind the counter with minimal interaction. The chicken was still warm, but was overcooked. The reaper ranch was light on the ranch and was hot but lacking any real flavor other than the burn. The daves sauce was overly sweet, and the French fries topped with Mac and cheese were good but really lacking in toppings. It was like a tablespoon of Mac n cheese to a handful of fries and two chicken nuggets on top. At the price we paid, the quality does not justify the price point. It's expensive small chicken tenders with lacking sauce and indifferent staff. When your menu is limited, you need to execute properly and this location is not executing. I have been to this location many times. To be fair, the first time didn't go so well. However, I have continued to go back because it keeps getting better and better. Not just the food either. The service staff at the counter have gotten so much better with the speed they do things that it makes the ambiance more upbeat and positive. When watching people get upset for having to wait a while the first few times I've gone it just felt mad in there. The Franklin staff has turned the wait time around dramatically. First time at a Dave Hot Chicken. The place was packed but the ordered kept coming out one after another. I was told a 20 minute wait but it was more like 10. I ordered 2 extra hot tenders. They were SO GOOD... The slice of bread and pickles were a nice surprise. Tenders come individually boxed. Not a huge fan of that as you can pit two in one container but oh well. Visited this location for the first time today, and drove 25 min away for it. Ordered two Sandwhich meals and slushy's for dine- in. It took a while for the food to come which was ok in my opinion, just meant the food was being freshly prepared. Inside- could've been wiped down and swept up, the floors and tables were dirty. Food- finally when the food came, the chicken on the sandwiches were cold, we asked to add on cheese and it wasn't melted. I got cheese fries they were good and hot. Which made me wonder if the sandwiches were sitting out waiting for the fries to be cooked. The orange cream slushy was good, the strawberry lemonade not so much. My first time coming here. I got what seemed to be the best deal 2 sliders with fries. I got medium I like hot but wasn't sure of the levels of heat yet so I went middle of the road. I liked the sandwiches and the sauce it wasn't as hot as I thought medium would offer I wish I picked hotter. The fries were not hot meaning temperature they were warm may have been made earlier. I went back two days later and ordered the bites and I got those hot one step up from medium and they were much better in heat but I think I know my level next time very hot lol. Kinda loud and chaotic and somewhat confusing the first few times but in a good busy way if that is possible? What really matters is food and service. The food is hot (haha) delicious, and good portions for your money. Although I haven't tried everything on the menu, I'm sure I would like all of it! The service is friendly and helpful. One drawback is which is bad for patrons but good for the restaurant is lines of people and lack of tables which is good for them. Because it means that they are doing well as a restaurant. It is pretty busy all day long. Bad for patrons because the small space and small numbers of tables means you might be eating in your car or somewhere else. I would say Dave's Hot Chicken is a take away spot. At least this one seems to be. Ordering online is breeze and recommended. The app works well and easy to navigate. What I like is being able to choose the heat/spice level. I have had to eat ip to a 6 without a problem. I like hot/spicy stuff so it was not a problem for me. I think the waiver form is more of a gimmick? I definitely recommend Dave's Hot Chicken if you like fried chicken tenders, nuggets and French Fries served piping hot! I would not recommend Dave's for a quiet romantic sit down dinner. Take away ordered online is your best option. Came here on opening day around 5:30pm and the line was LONG but it moved quickly! my server Janayzia was so sweet and took my order quickly but took time to confirm my items and give me a scratcher for a free slushee! I ordered the 10pc dave's bites with fries and a chocolate Oreo top-loaded shake and waited about 10 minutes for my order. the shake was great, fries had a unique seasoning (i loved it), and the chicken bites were delicious. I gave it a try; got the slider/tender combo (one or the other is plenty filling not sure why it's called a slider because it's much larger), I liked the slider. I got medium heat, to me there was no flavor in the chicken aside from a smokiness maybe from smoked paprika or chili powder but no distinct flavor to the batter (yes it looked spicy and was nice and crispy but no flavor). My wife and I have loved Dave's Hot Chicken and been to many of the other locations, last weekend we both got awful food poisoning (about 24 hours of throwing up) a couple hours after eating dinner at the Franklin location. It's a new store so maybe some cross contamination from new employees but won't be eating here again anytime soon. read more

This is a tough review but I'm going to be fully honest here and not just one of the many fanboys (and don't get me wrong, i fully understand why they have so many fans). To get the obvious out of the way - (1) the food is good (not great, not bad, but very good, especially in the context of hot chicken in New England, it just doesn't exist up here). (2) the employees, for the most part, are very friendly. Not efficient, but friendly. (3) the parking lot will always hold this place back. I'm sure everyone will say the same here, but its absolutely awful. So why the 1 star? Here are my experiences so far: My first (attempt) to get lunch here, i walked in and the place was packed. I'm thinking this is a good thing, people must love them. I place my order (number 2 - slider/fries, nothing special). I pay and get my number and walk over to the other side to wait for my order. After (literally) 35 minutes, they had only called out 4 orders from people who ordered in the restaurant (online orders were going slightly faster). Doing the math in my head because i know my number and how many more people there are before me, i realize i won't be getting my slider for at least 2 more hours. That's insane. I was forced to get a refund with no food so i could get back to work. I had heard great things about their food, so i try again today. I got there early, parked in the lot 15 minutes before they open. Walk in the door at 10:59am, I'm the third person to place an order, ordered and paid by 11:01. My order number is 1003 (third person) and the 2 guys in front of me also just ordered one of their combos so nothing crazy. At 10:17 i hear them call the first number, which was someone who ordered well after me. 3-4 more orders are called, all are people who were after the first 3 of us. I know for a fact some of these just contained sliders (which is what i ordered). I walk up to the front and ask if they forgot about me and I'm told "we don't make orders in the same order as they are placed". Hmmm. I would understand if they did that for faster or slower items, but to give people literally what i ordered before me is pretty bad customer service. All in, i waited 32 minutes for the slider/fry meal when i was the third person in the building that morning. Couple other notes: 1) guy who was giving out food on Friday morning (1/3) - don't be passive aggressive to you customers. I watched a Uber eats (or similar) guy getting frustrated because he kept getting told his order was coming and it wasn't. He was right to be upset, i watched you lie to him multiple times. But the employee just keeps saying "I'll let you know boss" "not yet boss" "I'm not the one making the orders boss" - you're just being a turd, no need to upset people more, apologize, maybe give him a free soda. 2) they are keeping the unnecessary tipping culture going strong. - don't get me wrong, i think the employees (who are good) deserve top pay, but these aren't servers and they all make full wages. If they need more $$, the boss should give them a raise. If you place an order in the restaurant, the lowest tip option is 20% and i think it went up to 25 or 27. If you place an order through their app, there is an automatic 20% tip added if you don't notice and cancel it off during checkout. 3) i asked for an extra dipping sauce (Dave's sauce) and i was charged $.50 for it (no big deal), but then as i watch people come up to get their meals, the guy is asking everyone if they want more free sauces including what i just paid for. - why did i have to pay when everyone else gets them for free? 4) serious training in the kitchen needed. I watched a woman try to open a package of buns for over a minute while talking to the woman next to her (who was doing nothing during this time). - maybe fast food would take less than 30 minutes if you train up your people and make sure they are on task. 5) it seems like you prioritize online orders over people who come in and order. If so, not cool, but either way you should add the in-person orders numbers to the big order board so customer can actually see a wait time expected before losing their lunch break and not getting any food anyway. read more

I didn't enjoy my experience at all at Dave's hot chicken. When I ordered my CHICKEN nuggets I got cauliflower nuggets instead. When I told them, they gave me a replacement order, which again was cauliflower mixed in with my chicken nuggets. I am never going there again and their workers are mean too.
