DO NOT GO HERE! My brother got a haircut with Alex and was furious when he got home. He specifically asked for Alex NOT to cut off the top because he's growing his hair out. He only wanted a lineup on the sides. Just the sides. Next thing you know the barber starts using his thinning shears to cut off the top. My brother has been growing out his hair for months now! I made an appointment for my 86 year old dad at Hot Cuts in wilmette. My son took my dad for the haircut appointment and they did NOT honor the appointment and were rude to him. Alex was the hair stylist who was rude and unpleasant. My poor dad waited and then got tired and left with my son. It is hard for him to walk and they treated him badly because he is old. I am writing this so that people should know they cannot get away by being rude and disrespectful to older folks. read more

I always bring my kids to see Aneta at Hot Cuts. She does awesome job with their hair and keeps it fun. Kids love to see Aneta and I let them get a touch of color at the end of each visit (spray paint); there is a trunk of toys at the salon which makes it easier with two kids. I've been going here for years and have always been happy. This is not a schedule in advance place, maybe the reviewer from San Francisco reviewed the wrong place. You can call in the morning to be given a time. Most clients are walk in. People have their favorites, but you can take whoever is available when you walk in, have a wait, or come back another time. Very clean, relaxed atmosphere. There is one very energetic guy there who will make non-stop small jokes (can be annoying to some, i'd imagine but I didn't mind it). People work there are very friendly, looks like an eastern european (polish) family ran business. Great haircuts -- very reasonably priced at 15$. I literally have been to the chain haircut stores such as supercuts or great clips and the person will do exactly the opposite of what I just told them. I'm new to the area and looking for a place to take my kiddos for haircuts, that isn't kiddie. The staff was pleasant, we got in and out in a decent time. They offered my daughter to spray color in her hair and she loved it. However, the reason I put 3 stars - they did not sweep up after each haircut. It grossed me out to watch my girls walk over about 3 persons cut hair on the floor. It grossed me out to watch the stylist walk over the hair too. While we had some good and cheap haircuts, I have found them to be incredibly unprofessional. Only take appointments day of (not an issue) but either very late, take others before or last time not honored with lots of attitude . Haircut is 4 stars but they get 2 for how you are treated. This place is tacky...I apologize for accidentally parking in your customer lot. But the lady that came out to bark at me was so rude! I really wanted this local place to work, but had similar problems to some other reviews: 1) Hair everywhere - all over the floor, even in the waiting area. Grossed me out and had to keep telling my kids to keep their stuff off the floor. Yuck! 2) Three (yes THREE!!) people were served ahead of me after we got there and had already waited for 45 min! I even called ahead! They could have told me over the phone that there would be a 1 hour wait. I wouldn't have wasted my entire morning (doesn't work well with toddlers). Finally we just left and one stylist gave a very insincere apology ("I'm sorry but we're busy!") and then whispered about me to her client about how some people just don't understand when they're busy. I've been going to Hot Cuts for years and it's a great place. Great haircuts at an economical cost. The stylists are friendly & fun, and give a haircut that would cost much more elsewhere. And unlike other low-cost salons, they don't have high stylist turn-over and isn't a practicing ground for new stylists . If fact they don't any turn over all.
