I've been going to Hot Cuts for more than 10 years--and not only because I get a great haircut at an incredibly reasonable price (Aneta usually does my hair, but Sandy and Alex are excellent too). I want my hair to look good, but I also want to enjoy the salon experience, and I get both at Hot Cuts. Super-fancy salons aren't my thing--so if you prefer that atmosphere (and price tag), don't come here. But if you enjoy a welcoming environment with friendly, talented stylists, you should definitely try this place. There are some "value" salons that have a generic, utilitarian vibe. Hot Cuts doesn't. There's comfy leather furniture in the waiting area, lots of natural light, toys for kids to play with-- it feels inviting, and that's also due to the friendly stylists. My husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law also go to Hot Cuts (my in-laws drive from Glenview) and they feel the same way. This place ROCKS!!! I can get a GREAT HAIRCUT for $20. The stylists are friendly and the atmosphere is very laid back. It is not one of those high priced, big attitude salons. They offer great cuts and color and insanely cheap prices!!! I use Kim and I will not let anoyone else touch my hair. There is no receptionist, no snotty assistants running around. This is the BEST PLACE in the North Shore to get you hair cut and after reading some of the other reviews, I think they better stick with a $50 haircut for their kids!!! I have sent one of my best friends here and he swears by kim as well!!! The entire staff treats you like one of the gang while you are here. I highly recommend Hot Cuts! I've had my hair cut by just about everyone on the staff, and have ALWAYS walked away happy! I'm currently into having my hair done by RUDY. He's great, and a really fun guy! Cuts always only cost $16. And it is as good or better then the $75 cuts I get at the high end places. Also, they always know my name AND remember the details of my life from visit to visit. I've also had my hair colored here, and it's also very good, tho not as great a savings. They still charge considerably less than other places. They were also willing to go out and purchase the brand of coloring stuff I have always used, which is often not available at other places. So I thought that was very nice of them, especially since it was going to cost them over $100 - and I wasn't going to have to pay anything extra. read more

The very best haircut. The very best people. I still remember the first time I walked through the doors of Hot Cuts. I had a falling out with my barber of twenty years and I desperately needed a new place for my monthly cut. The entire Hot Cuts staff, including all of the stylists, and the spectacular owner and operator, Aneta, were so friendly and eager to help. They made me feel like I was a good friend and not just some customer with money. I grew to love each and every one of them over the years. Sadly, I had to move out of Illinois for work and I had to say goodbye. I cannot find a salon down here in North Carolina half as good as Hot Cuts, but that's just how life goes, I guess. I've been going to "Hot Cuts" for about ten years and have always had a great experience there. Aneda has been my "go to" stylist and hair cutter,( she's way to adorable to be called a Barber) for all these years tho I did have Kim cut my hair once in Aneda's absence, and my hair always come out looking great. The atmosphere is friendly and simple, very laid back and always some fun conversations going on. It's also very kid friendly so don't hesitate to bring your youngster's here ( the lollipop basket is always full) I am giving "Hot Cuts' the max STARS allowed and highly recommend this very comfy Salon. Oh and if she tries to sell you on the purple mohawk, realize it's all in jest cuz the sarcasm abounds there !! read more

I have started going there relatively recently, but every time I go, I leave very happy, and satisfied. The first time I went, my haircut was done by Aneta, and since then I only ask for her. She cuts my hair just the way I like it, not too short and not too long. She always takes her time to trim by beard/eyebrows, without me even mentioning anything. They are always smiling and upbeat, and they treat you like family. You also can not beat the price, especially it being in our beloved Northshore area. Hot Cuts Plus was where I got my haircut. Aneta had cut my hair at another chain store establishement and when she left, I followed. Now, years later, my entire family goes there and all of us are happy with our cuts from Aneta and Kim. Most impressive is that my young kids actually like going to get their hair cut because of how Kim and Aneta treat them. Hot Cuts Plus is convenient, good hours, efficient, not too hard on the wallet, and am never disappointed with the results. I needed a hair change, so I decided to try a place in my neighborhood, and I'm so glad! Ana adjusted my bob so that it's more graphic and angled my bangs so they are more flattering to my face. They also stay in place more on their own now! Ana paid close attention to what my hair naturally wanted to do, and therefore I ended up with a better cut. I really don't get some of the negative reviews here. I've been coming to Hot Cuts for years and have never had a problem. In fact, it's always a pretty good time, between chatting with the girls and listening to Rudy, who truly is a one-man-show. I guess if you want a sterile environment with no personality then this place isn't for you. Been a very long time customer. Aneta always makes me feel looking like a Rock Star when I leave and and Kim AKA #1, is like Edward Scissorhands. They also have Rudy, ... I can't recall ever walking in their without Rudy performing like he's in front of the Mike at the Improv which I encourage him to give up his day job. Great people. Great value.
