I have been going here for about a year now. I live in Evanston and was going to another salon but my stylists kept leaving. I wanted a local salon that I could walk to, with a stylist I could have that wouldn't leave. I searched and found Chase! Let me tell you that he is the best. Not only has he given me the best cuts and styles I have ever had, but also is the nicest person. I have had people (yes, plural) compliment my hair. One woman stopped me in Target and asked me who cuts my hair because she loved the back so much - and it was two days unwashed! He is on-time, reasonably priced and the salon is very nice. I brought my 93 yo mom to him and she said she couldn't stop looking in the mirror because she loved her hair so much. I absolutely love this place! It took me forever to find a great salon that I trust. So long story short, I thought it would be fun to give myself a hair cut because I needed a "change." This "change" turned into a chin length mullet that needed some help. So. I used Yelp to find nicely rated salons near me. This place came up - it looked a little pricey but I figured my head needed some serious help. I went here and they gave me such a gorgeous haircut that I will now keep going back. Kara was the one who took care of me and treated me with such care I almost cried. Kara was able to find a cut that I truly loved and I have forever since been happy with my style. I haven't seen a stylist in years and have been (barely) taking care of my hair on my own trimming my ends here and there with the occasional pop-in visit to a $5 cut place so you can imagine that I was a little nervous venturing out to find someone to take care of my hair, especially since I didn't quite know what I wanted to do with it. Booking an appointment was easy enough. I browsed the site a bit and was able to set it up without any issue. I even left a little note saying I was kind of nervous since I haven't had anyone take care of my hair in a while, but I had an inkling of an idea--long and low-maintenance. The studio is tucked away in Evanston, but easy to find. No issues with parking. The space is clean with cute decor. There's no receptionist and the stylists do their thing, but they were attentive and checked me and other patrons in promptly. They've got a little coffee machine if you need, too. My appointment was with Chase and he was wonderful! He really listened to my concerns about my hair and helped by giving me all the information I needed to make decisions on what I wanted. He was also just a fun person to talk to. By the end of it, I my hair was feeling clean and light and all sorts of fresh. I will definitely be returning to Fawn in the future for my hairstyling needs. read more

My stylist was Quinn, who took my vague demands and executed them perfectly. I have thick, coarse, curly, frizzy hair. What I wanted was a layered cut that would thin out my hair, bring out the curl, and was easy to maintain. I didn't want to use more than two products in my hair and I didn't want to have to do more than wash, condition, finger-comb, and air-dry. Quinn clearly knows what she's doing. I'm very pleased with my style and how easy it is to maintain. She's also thorough, asks for and listens to your input, and is a pleasant conversationalist. I really liked the products she used in my hair, because they made it look awesome while also making it feel soft, but I very much appreciate how there was no product sales pitch during my time at Fawn. Fawn's located on a small street that's hard to maneuver in even if there is a parking space available, so it's probably best to park on Dempster by the Mexican Shop which is on the corner. It would be nice if the website is updated with a list of all the services available and their prices. I read the reviews beforehand so I knew how much my haircut would cost, but I think it's important information to have on the site as well. The scheduling system has a list of services, but not the prices. read more

I have been going to Michelle to have my hair dyed for years. I have nearly all grey hair and it is tough to color. I have my hair dyed every three weeks like clockwork. Michelle does a great job of getting every single grey covered. My hairline is not a mess when I leave, she scrubs the dye off before and after shampooing. She is extremely conscientious, kind and attentive. She also gives me a great blow out after my color as I don't always have a cut scheduled. Erin and the staff at Fawn are the best. The salon itself is a warm, welcoming space that immediately makes you feel relaxed. They did an outstanding job remodeling the space. As for services, those are top notch. Erin is an outstanding colorist. I have been going to her for several years and I always leave feeling and looking much younger! Gabriel, Quinn, Maggie, Michelle and Kara are all excellent stylists. I have seen all of them for haircuts and have never been disappointed. Just be sure to book your services in a timely manner. This is a salon with a loyal and dedicated clientele, and they book up quickly! Booking however, is very easy to do online. I have a head full of thick babyfine, downy, flyaway curls. The top layer is curliest and the wrong haircut can leave me rocking a dandelion puff on the side of my head. I came a few minutes early and detailed my hair quirks and Quinn said she had it and that I didn't need to worry. True to her word, I walked out looking fabulous. My new haircut works whether I go natural or blow it out. Maggie as usual worked her magic and gave me back the beautiful, caramel blonde with champagne highlights I used to grow naturally as a toddler. Fawn is my new favorite! I followed Maggie and Gabriel from Red 7 Salon to Fawn. What an upgrade! The salon itself has an urban, upscale vibe while still being comfortable. It is obvious from the moment you walk in that the entire staff cares about your experience and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Naturally I am a dirty blonde. I have really struggled to find a good colorist to make my highlights bright without looking too "fake". Maggie is simply amazing! She is by far the most talented colorist I have ever seen. She always takes time to consult with you and explain what color combination will work the best for you. In the past I have had issues with toner making my hair look mousey, but Maggie makes sure my hair comes out looking bright and shiny every time. Besides being an expert colorist, Maggie is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. It is an absolute pleasure sitting in her chair. There are times I wish I could stay just to hang out! Gabriel is an outstanding stylist. I have long, layered hair with side swept bangs. The bangs have proven to be impossible for some stylists in the past. They either cut them too short or style them crazy. Not Gabriel, he is perfect every time. Gabriel takes his time cutting my hair and is so precise. My bangs always look amazing when I walk out of the salon. Gabriel's abilities are wonderful and his personality matches. I have never had anyone give me such an easy to maintain and lovely looking hairstyle ever. He really does give you a style that will be flattering but also manageable to maintain.
