I cut my hair elsewhere (shoutout to Vivian at Bloouts down the street who gives the BEST cuts), but find it easiest with timing to get blowouts here following my colors. Unfortunately, I've had trouble finding a good stylist for blowouts. I went to Kate for many years, but once showed up for family pictures with my daughter. She took a look at my daughter's curls and said she had no time in her busy schedule (at the very time of our appointment), which I thought was really wrong to do an hour before photos. My daughter rocked her beautiful curls for photos, but it left a bad taste in my mouth so 2 years ago I moved on to Ji for my own blowouts. During my most recent hair appt I was running a few minutes late and they expedited my glaze so that I wouldn't be too late for Ji. I went downstairs to find her and she was busy with a client so I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for her. Once she finished her client she rudely turned to me and she was out of time and would have to see me another time. After I complained they found me someone else, but the stylists really need to learn to stick to their schedules and work with the front desk if they need more time. I may continue to go here because I like Marissa, but if so it looks like I'm on the hunt once again for another stylist after color. I would love to walk down the streets to BloOuts, but difficult to time it right and walking in winter with wet hair isn't so fun.

There are few things better than trusting a professional to do what they do best while I... well, while I read a magazine and zone out. In this case, the expert colorist doctored my thirty-something sprouting grays back to my 'natural' twenty-something high/low lights. Then the stylist cut to precision: just within my safety zone--tastefully tweaked with enough style to stay on trend without conforming to fad--well inside regret (i.e. My Jennifer Aniston circa 1995 mistake). The colorists and stylists here are true masters in their field. There's clearly a lot of training and experience behind their work. Bottom line, I consistently leave a better looking me (obvious talent). But it's not just about beauty, balance is equally important--from the get go. Mind your own first impression: the receptionist greets you by name, asks about your last trip, then ensures you're legally parked. "Thanks, Stephanie. Yes, I will leave my worries at the door." Then it's ME TIME: relax, be comfortably silent or chat pleasant conversation, soak up the spa-like ambiance, faint coffee-house music, head massage, hot tea or cucumber water (and secretly flirt with lash extensions). I wanted to highly recommend the extraordinary team at Bliss Salon, and in particular the exceptional expertise and talent of senior stylist and colorist Tasneem. I have worked with many wonderful stylists and colorists on east and west coast, London, and Asia, and Tasneem has blown me away. She has a unique eye and talent for color, cut, treatments, and styling that is world class! She has totally transformed my difficult hair condition and color, and I have seen her do the same for a number of her other clients as well. She is also kind, smart, and great to work with! The entire team at Bliss Winnetka is wonderful and very caring - from the friendly and professional front desk, to the experienced styling assistants, and the spa team who provide excellent manicure and pedicure treatments, beautiful makeup application, and various spa services. Ask for Eva for an amazing and most hygienic mani and pedi, and a beautiful makeup application! read more

I have to highly recommend Tasneem for cut and color. I have been seeing her for over 10 years and I've never had better results with anyone else. The rating is based on the rudeness of the staff when I called the next day to report that I had been overcharged. There was a discrepancy between their verbal quote when I made the appointment, based on the length and thickness of my hair, which is what the stylist herself actually charged for the cut, versus what they ended up charging me. Seems like they padded the stylist's price by $10. Pam was rude on the phone when I called to report the error and asked for a refund. She continually talked over me and refused to listen. I asked her politely to take a moment and listen, and she said she didn't have time. "We can't be on the phone discussing this back and forth" she said. She rolled her eyes at how uneven it was. Then she did harm herself. I haven't forgotten how you made me feel, Estelle. I've given this the time and perspective since Feb to finally write this review. It's been 5 long months since you disrespected my wishes to grow out my hair by cutting off more than 2 inches in a 3.5-month period. That set me back 4 months of growing time and my hair was shorter than in November of the previous year. She was supposed to cut 1/2 inch. She showed me the amount, I agreed, but then she lost her focus and got scissor happy. Estelle, to say "I'm sorry you're unhappy with the length" is not an apology. You can't apologize for someone's reaction to your mistake. You can only apologize for your mistake. "I am sorry I cut off too much" is an apology. But that's too close to the truth for you to face. I tried to have an in-person conversation with her, but she dismissed me, texting "I cannot have further discussion at this time" and hid behind a platitude that "I take great pride in my work and always strive to make my clients happy". Estelle, get some emotional intelligence. You made a mistake, did not take responsibility, and caused me pain. You got to go on with life while I felt attacked. Despite your veil of "great pride" you are only as competent as your last satisfied customer. After 5 months I am still recovering, I still remember how badly you made me feel. But now I have a stylist who actually listens and respects my wishes.
