    Popeyes Ain't [Wahn] Chicken Sandwich
    Gino W.

Spicy chicken sandwiches have been the rage over the past few years. Working in the Loop, I opted for trying out Hot Chi Chicken in Revival Food Hall. It was not a bad idea. I ordered the Popeyes Ain't Blim Chicken Sandwich. I got it spicy. It was messy and over-the-top delicious. I'd order it again. The fries were crispy but slightly lukewarm by the time I had walked a block back to work. The prices are what you can expect from downtown restaurants and cafes. I liked the sandwich, and the menu has a few other offerings. This won't be an ongoing thing, but I could enjoy one of their other sandwiches every so often.

Damn. So I've never been to this shop's original Chatham location but this new spot at the new Old Post Office food hall is great. You'll need more than 3 napkins. Staff was very friendly. Said the debate was which was better: the hot honey or the better than Popeyes. I went for the first. Not disappointed. Crunchy. Great pickles. It's choose your own heat so I went for Hott! Awesome, although I could go even higher (I'm that guy) so will go for their max level next time.

This is probably the most inconsistent place in the from here on food hall. I've gotten the burgers and tenders here a few times hoping it would get better now that they have their footing but the quality hasn't improved much. Quality- the burgers come in 5 hotness Levels. Some days it would be way too spicy and other days it's not spicy enough. I typically get a medium level and sometimes I am breathing fire when I bite into it. There also isn't much chicken. It is mostly breading that makes it look big. The chicken is always over cooked too. It's always too dry when I bite into it. Quantity- I can get a higher quality cheaper burger elsewhere. 13 bucks for a burger is a bit steep and so is 10 bucks for 2 tenders. Atmosphere- OPO has a very nice lobby area. It is quite spacious. Service- very slow. Takes a bit to get my order sometimes.

Customer service was good and friendly. The food was okay, I had the "Cheat-day Fries" and a Peach ice tea. The fries were good but could use more chicken, especially considering the price. I ordered them Mild, and I will definitely get the HOT next time. Tea was also good.

I'm quite familiar with the food here as I've frequented the south side location several times. What was new here was the "cheat day fries" & tbh I sort of enjoyed this more than the sandwich. My sandwich from this location was dry but I believe it's solely due to the fact that they weren't as heavy handed with the sauce as the other location. I was perturbed at the almost $12 but after feeling how heavy the dish was I was ok. It's easily 2 lbs of food if not more. For some he 1st half of the fired I got a piece of chicken in each bite. It worth mentioning that all the food is a healthy serving. Once the weather permits I'd love to see in the east facing patio as well.

Revival food hall is very cool with lots of options. Went here and got the Popeyes Ain't Shit and Buttermilk Mac - they are not kidding about the chicken sandwich! That thing was amazing!! 11/10. I give the Mac and cheese a 7/10.... Good, but not great. Service was super quick.

My company just moved into the Old Post Office and I was excited to try Hot Chi for my first lunch in the new space. First of all, the OPO is beautiful -- such a great space. Hot Chi's menu is somewhat limited, but it's strictly a lunch situation and what they do have, they do it right. Several levels of heat are available, topping out with "call your momma." I love spice, but not having eaten before I didn't want to risk the hottest option on the first try so I went one level below that. The sandwich didn't disappoint. Excellent level of heat. The chicken itself was juicy and the sauce/toppings were top-notch. The only downside is that the fries were just average -- nothing special. The sandwich is definitely worth visiting for, though! Excited to have this as a lunch option when I'm onsite for work!

If you have not tried Chilangos, I'm here to tell you that you're absolutely missing out! I also ordered the steak taco and the shrimp taco. Both of those were 10/10 (per usual) but i HAD to show you guys how beautiful this bowl was! On top of looking amazing, it tastes amazing as well. You have your choice of protein and that's it and tbh, I love that! It automatically comes with cheese, rice, sour cream, pico de gallo, pinto beans and romaine lettuce. When I tell you that you don't need any sauce or added spice to this! It's so delicious! The portion is insane. I can get through maybe a 1/4 of it and I have to save the rest. One thing I love about this bowl is that the rice is seasoned. It may even be yellow rice and that makes it even better! Every bite is the perfect bite because you get a little bit of everything! Thank you so much Chilango! You have never ever disappointed me and the way you provide consistency needs to be studied! I appreciate you guy so much! It was a beautiful meal and ofc, I'll be back for more!

The pickup process was super easy and the people working there were really friendly which made the experience even better............ I ordered the steak torta and I have honestly never had one made like this before. It had roasted veggies chipotle butter and came on toasted telera bread. It was really good and easily the best savory item I ordered. The tortilla soup did not really do much for me. I took a couple sips and kind of forgot about it. Now I am wondering if it was meant for dipping the torta because on its own it was pretty blah. Now let us talk about the Nutella and banana empanada because that deserves its own paragraph. That thing was loaded with bananas and Nutella and fried perfectly with the outside crispy and the inside warm and melty. I truly wish I had ordered five of them. No exaggeration. Next time the munchies hit this is absolutely my go to spot for something sweet.

But what made this specific location unique was that it had items from other countries. I think this menu rotates throughout the year but when I went, I got the samurai burger from Malaysia, the winter fries from France, and the Mcpops! I also got a McChicken because you can't go to McDonald's without getting one of those. The samurai burger was good but it honestly tasted like a gyudon bowl in a burger. The winter fries were so addicting an really tasty. The McPops were honestly underwhelming. It's definitely worth trying if you're there but it's not anything special.
