This is my first 5 Star review! And Guess what I mean it, as soon as I walked in there was nothing but smiles, such a beautiful spot and so much history about our Firefighters and the hard work they put into our City. It was busy but all the staff made sure they greeted me and gave me a menu as soon as I joined my party of 4. I started off with a Peach Wine slushy then Fried pickles (they are the best in Rochester) and (Jumbo)Cajun Dry and Habanero Wings then on top of that I fell in love with the exotic flavors of there Steak Pizza on a late evening on 7.23.21, my secondary first love! Emily our server was a awesome, even though she was busy, she did not skip a beat. Great menu selections and good prices for the quality of food you're getting. Staff is very knowledgeable about gluten free options available on their menu and is willing to accommodate dietary restrictions. Despite only having several waitresses during the day, our waitress was constantly at our table checking in on us and the food and drink service was very quick. Would definitely return! read more

The food was amazing. I had the crab cakes they were really a nice size. Not your little bite-size crab cakes here. The rice was goodand the corn-on-the-cob was also a nice surprise for a side. I also had a black cherry hard cider that was delicious. I was so full, I had to take dessert to go. Service was good. Waitress was checking on us to make sure we were good with food and drink. Ambiance was so cool with it being a historic restored fire station from 1918. It has all kinds of firehouse antiques around the restaurant. Been to Hose 22 a couple times for their fish fry. Very busy, loud and crammed in, especially if you get stuck at a table. It was hard to carry on a conversation with your table mate. It was not an enjoyable experience but I gave it a second try hoping it would be better and it really wasn't, which was disappointing. We all ordered did fry's. Three beer battered and one baked. Hose 22 is a great place to go for lots of menu variety and a nice atmosphere. It's busy on weekend nights, like any other restaurant/bar in the area. Service was a little slow the first time I went, but our server was new. My most recent visit there was the best experience yet. We had a party of 13 including 5 children, and while that can almost guarantee iffy service at many restaurants, Hose 22 had a very capable server waiting on us. She was on the ball with drink refills, extra napkins, and patience with indecisive kids. I like that you can build your own wine flight (choose three whites or three reds), though I do like to see more New York State wines on a menu in this area (I think there was one Dr. Frank wine). Appetizer versions of things like the fried pickles are generously portioned, so if you're ordering apps, come hungry or share them. Topped with bread crumbs, the mac and cheese was one of the best I have had at a restaurant. Pasta dishes come with a salad, or you can sub a soup or premium side for $2 or $3. The portobello caps are pretty good too, but the mac and cheese takes the cake. read more

My burger was ordered medium well & was medium rare, cheese was missing. My friend's short ribs looked like hamburger & had cheese she didn't order. The cheesecake had a piece of paper in it. Great place to host an event or meet friends. I've been multiple times in recent months for both dine in and take out. I also hosted an event in the red room upstairs in November. They made it easy to book; we had a great server, the food was hot and everyone raved about how good it was. Chicken wings (my fave are the garlic parm), calamari, fried pickles, salad, margherita & white pizzas, and caesar salad all outstanding. I ordered off the menu at their suggestion because it we figured maybe 20-30 tops would show up. I also recommend the anything reuben with sweet potato wedges, artichoke crostini, and my friend loves the salmon caesar which I have not tried yet. The high tops in the bar area are nice place to hang out and eat. Ambiance- different, I like it. Lighting & noise- Not too dark and while it can be loud, I never have a problem hearing conversation at our table. Kid friendly- Yes, in dining area. Probably better choice with teens than toddlers. Single safe? Yes, I've sat at bar while ordering take out, people are nice. Is food all 5 star? The service by our waiter was phenomenal. My husband ordered the reuben which was good. I decided to order their shrimp and scallop with coconut rice and a side of brussel sprouts. When the dish came half of the dish was brussel sprouts, 3 medium/large shrimp and 3 over cooked medium/small sized scallops and a ice-cream scoop of coconut rice. It was poorly plated. There was nothing special about the dish. When we got the check we were shocked that the dish cost $33. We don't mind paying for something that is good quality but that special was just not worth the price. I recommend sticking to ordering from their regular menu items. read more

Our group of 7 came here for their great happy hour deals - $2 off wine and beer, and we came to love the relaxed but awesome atmosphere of this repurposed firehall. They stuck with the firehall theme and had lots of fireman artifacts to decorate the walls. The front area is great to hang out in for some drinks and snacks (the pizza is good!) and the back area is reserved for seated dining. My mother and I had a wonderful experience here the other day! The wait staff was so friendly and professional. We also loved the clean and unique atmosphere. We sat down and ordered some drinks, I got the blueberry lemonade vodka one, and YES I enjoyed it. Next, we ordered some food, my mother got the Reuben and loved it. Had a great experience using the Hose 22 Stutson House for a large baby shower last weekend. We did the breakfast buffet. The service was great. The food came out right on time and hot and delicious. They set up everything with cloth linens and centerpieces if you would like. We chose to bring in our own decorations and were given time before the shower started to set up. The staff was efficient. There when you needed them and quietly keeping things rolling the rest of the time. We had several 'excited' children at the event so it was nice to have a large private room. We chose a 'package' breakfast brunch but were able to add any extras we wanted. They were even able to prepare vegan meals for 4 of our guests. I highly recommend them for a very nice event with very little work on your end!! read more

Interesting decor and lots of stuff to look at! Old firehouse turned into a restaurant, decorated with jackets, fire hoses, ladders, etc. they had a video playing of the renovation which was cool. Service was friendly, server was nice and did check on us frequently. They filled my water as soon as I put down the empty cup! They lost some money right away for me, when their bar didn't have liquor. I do not drink beer or wine, so I'm always disappointed when places do not have cocktail options. I ordered the 12 oz steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The steak was cooked well, but lacked flavor for a $28 steak. The mashed potatoes were to die for! Had to leave urgently and wanted to check out, my waitress was not available so I proceeded to ask another waiter by the name of Segley (I believe) to have our waitress come to our table but before I could speak he shouted "nope not me, I'll get your waitress" very loudly and rudely. This man had no idea what I was going to say before interrupting me. I do not want to be the one to say this but truthfully we were the only African American people there at the time (not to say they were racists but it makes me wonder honestly). I have eaten at Hose 22 several times in the past, and while the experience was never exactly noteworthy, my past experiences were generally acceptable. My most recent experience was regrettably poor enough to ensure I will not return in the future. The service was the highlight of my visit; however, it was not nearly enough to outweigh the several negative aspects of my experience. - The restaurant did not feel very clean. The floors and tables were sticky and I swatted a number of flies during my visit. - The temperature inside the restaurant was well in excess of 90 degrees. Customers and employees alike were visibly uncomfortable due to the heat and humidity in the restaurant. - One member of my party ordered a cocktail which was undrinkable. The server agreed the cocktail was off and quickly remedied this issue, so no real harm here. - The appetizers were decent, but not great. - The entrees were simply unacceptable. Two members of my party ordered the fiesta chicken sandwich, and they both gave less than stellar reviews, to word it kindly. Another member of my party had the jambalaya, only to have his head in the toilet shortly thereafter. I had the ribs, which were absolutely drowned in an exceedingly sweet barbecue sauce, masking any redeeming qualities. The restaurant's condition and the quality, or lack thereof, of the food and drinks do not justify the rather high menu prices. This was unfortunately one of the least pleasant dining experiences I have had in many years. I hope for the sake of other guests that Hose 22 can solve these issues and deliver a more positive experience; however, I do not see myself returning in the near future. read more

We were in town visiting my sister, and she suggested we go here. It's one of their family's favorites. It's in an old firehouse, so all of the decor is fire fighter themed. My nephews love it. They have hoses, helmets, jackets, tools, etc. all over the restaurant. They also have a screen showing the remodeling progress in photos- very cool. The story of the remodel is in the menu as well. There's a really nice outdoor patio out front as well. The food was excellent! I had a turkey melt sandwich with a side of fried pickles. The sides are huge, too! So much food. I like to try a restaurant more than once before I write a review. Hose 22 is a good example of why. On my first visit, our dinner was delicious and the service was excellent. On my second visit for lunch, although we had a nice seat right by the front window, the service was less than great, there were crumbs of deep fried crap on our table when we sat down, and the food was just ok. It always irks me when the server tries to show off by not writing down your order. Inevitably they will forget something. Our lunch on my second visit was no exception. We were halfway through our lunch before she remembered that we each ordered a beer. The place is decorated really nicely and I appreciate that they've transformed this old firehouse into a restaurant. You could check it out if you're in the area. But I wouldn't make a special trip. This place is great. My dad and I had salads and both were huge. I had the buffalo chicken salad and was great. Chicken was spicy hot and big pieces. Lettuce over filled the big bowl that it came in. The restaurant has been converted from an old time fire house that was built in the late 1900s. Old time fire equipment is present through out building. The crowds that visit fire hose 22 really seem 2 enjoy them selves. They have a full bar with lots on tap. Menu prices r reasonable and your date will not b sorry. Attended a rehearsal dinner here last night. It was a buffet featuring a salad, prime rib, chicken, mashed red potatoes, macaroni and cheese and mixed vegetables. It doesn't sound like much, but it was fantastic. The vegetables including the summer squash and carrots were cooked to perfection. They were not soggy. The prime rib was plentiful and has a great taste. Maybe could be a bit more tender. I don't even have words for the macaroni and cheese. I don't have seconds of anything, but I did manage to have a bit more of that. It was creamy and delicious. I will definitely come back and try their menu out! read more

We had a nice afternoon date at Hose 22. I liked the decorated interior and option to sit inside or outside. The Wait staff were all exceptionally nice and the service was very quick. The drink menu is very long. We both ordered wine slush-Ritas which were tasty and not too watery and came right out. For our meal, we ordered the 12 inch pizzas with side salads. We both enjoyed our salads. The veggies were fresh and I thought the house vinaigrette was flavorful with out being too overpowering. My pizza was a thin crust crispy tomato pesto pizza with chicken. I thought it was great. The portion is very generous and the crust was not too crunchy, burned, or cold. There was a white vinaigrette drizzle on the pizza and crispy sage leaves. The pizza has a sweet taste from the drizzle. This was a little strong for me at first but I got used to it. My boyfriend got the arson pizza with sriarcha sauce and lots of meats. He seemed happy. I tried some of his too and it was very flavorful. He was a little disappointed that he couldn't just get pepperoni, but it was good to get him outside the box.
