Called as we want to change HVAC companies. Was on hold listening to a recording for 11 and a half minutes. Someone with an Indian accent answered and took information to email me maintenance information because he obviously did not know to tell me by phone. Never received the information. Called another company as would not want this situation in an emergency. read more

3/1/21 we contacted Horizon services in the past and the work performed was fine. This most recent interaction was horrendous! We were in need of a sewer lateral inspection because we are selling our house. We explained in depth on the phone what was needed. Truthfully it's really just another BS township money grab like everything else. I digress. We were delighted to book the appointment for the following morning. Later that same afternoon we were contacted and we were questioned if it was a sewer blockage or proactive inspection. (We had already explained precisely what it was) - we re-explained it was a sewer lateral inspection. Then they told us they won't do it because it's proactive. Translation= no money to be made. They cancelled our appointment hours later after booking it sending us scrambling. THANKS HORIZON! To us, this company is unethical and unreliable!! If you need this kind of inspection you can forget this company! They play games. Selling a home is stressful enough without these shenanigans! read more

Ok, I wasn't offered mediocre responses, I was only offered "yes or no." Like everything on earth, it all depends on the quality of the technician you get. They have their good and their bad. We've been with them long enough to find the difference. As for price... their equipment is very expensive (even at the lowest level). The question is, will it last and how well was it installed? I won't know for the next 10 years, but they did give me a parts and labor warranty for 10 years. I'll have to wait until winter to see how well the new heater works, but the air conditioner is working very well. The only reason for the initial "no" responses was because they claim "same day" assistance, but that's only if they can (I guess). My final synopsis is this: find technicians you can trust, and you'll be fine. read more

Horizon services came out to repair a leaking shut off valve. They only needed to change one shut off valve. They instead changed 3 and charged us full price for the job as individual jobs. The technician was talking with my wife since I was working at the fire department and couldn't be there. He never gave her alternative options. We only wanted the leak fixed which could have been capped instead of using shut off valves. Any experienced plumber would know this. I feel my wife was taken advantage of and they added incurred cost for no reason. They also sent a bogus water analysis. When I called to discuss what happened they ended up partially refunding but still charging us about $120 for each extra valve which is about at $10 part. I spoke with plumbing manager John Detrano and explained the whole situation which was like talking to the manager in Office Space. He wasn't very helpful other than admitting they invoiced incorrectly. He sounded like he was trying to get me off the phone and would have someone from the complaint department call me. I am still waiting for that phone call. The overall plumbing service experience was terrible which is unfortunate because we are a member and use them for HVAC. The HVAC division is phenomenal. read more

I have paid for a yearly "Priority Partner Plan" with Horizon Services for the past few years. In the beginning, the plan was a little over $200 yearly. Recently, one of their technicians told me that the plan now costs $59 per year but my AmEx card was charged $118. I have purchased from them new spigots for both bathrooms (approximately $1,900) new toilets for both bathrooms (approximately $2,600) a new hot water heather (approximately $10,000) and this month I gave them approximately $18,500 to install a new heater and air conditioner for my home. Horizon technicians have been in my home many times. My experience is that some of them are awesome and some of them should be seeking a new line of work. On the afternoon of June 18, 2024, during one of the hottest days of the season (95-100 degrees outside) my air conditioner stopped working. We are senior citizens and the temperature in the house was rising fast. Although Horizon advertises "same day service" I was told that they could not send someone to help me until the next day "between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m." When I told them how hot it was in my home, the Horizon rep said, "well, there is no way someone can come out today." I had to call another company that I had never used before, and that company came out to help. So, it seems that Horizon's "same day service" ad is a lie and that being a Priority Partner means nothing even though the heat that day was at a dangerous level. After having the new heather/air conditioner installed, I called Horizon and asked if someone could give me the names of the filters for the new humidifier and heather so I could order replacement filters to have on hand. I was told that someone would return my call. Although it really was no surprise to me, NO ONE CALLED ME BACK!!! I have been a Horizon "Priority" customer for years. I have purchased many expensive items from Horizon. So, among other things, I do not like being lied to and ignored. read more

I hate to write this review because I was previously a big fan of Horizon Services. See my 2014 review. Today (1/10/21) was the fourth time since that 2014 review that I called Horizon for a plumbing emergency (I keep notes in my contacts about plumbers, handymen, etc., so I remember for next time). Today was also my last call to Horizon. In each of my four last calls they never have anyone available - for days. Granted, today's call was early on a Sunday morning. If they could have come out at any time today I would have been happy. No. No plumber available. Not for days. This has been the same story with Horizon during the prior three calls, and not all were on weekends. Over a period of years this has been my consistent experience. What's the point of advertising 24-hour emergency availability if there is no availability? And not just a lack of immediate availability, but no availability any time in the reasonably near future. I'm sorry Horizon. The fourth time is the deal breaker. I'd like to tell you I will never use your services anymore, but you already know that because you are simply never available. What's sad is I think your in-home service and plumbing professionals, based on an experience years ago, were outstanding. As Woody Allen once said, 80 percent of success is showing up. Horizon Services, in emergency cases, doesn't even attempt to show up. read more

RE: HVAC - I have a heating and A/C system installed by Horizon. I have paid for the annual membership every year so that I can maintain both units. It took me until January to have someone do maintenance on my system - after they overbooked and canceled me twice in December. Today (March 31) I received an email reminder to book my HVAC which I appreciated. I went online right away and found that the first available appointment is September 15th!!!! That means it's 5 1/2 months to wait for an appointment. So I called. Was transferred twice and the third person couldn't get my phone number right, put me on hold and then disconnected after 1-2 minutes. I called again and the person answering the phone advised that there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor and he told me he didn't have one. [I trained customer service reps for over 20 years and know that is certainly not true.] His procedure is to open a ticket so that the Customer Management team can contact me in 12 business hours. Clearly Horizon has overpromised without being able to fulfill their memberships. This makes me sad because until about 2 years ago they were terrific. I'll be curious is someone calls. Maybe I should scheduled my heating maintenance now so I can get onto the schedule for October. read more

Ordered a brand new heater from Horizon, and they diverted the stack to the front of my house, and used pvc pipe! Pvc only good up to 140 degrees! Brand new chimney was installed in 2005. Horrible service. The technician screwed my vent changer closed and when I requested a supervisor call me several times, it never happened. DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY. Its been years since I made the mistake, but I came across the name again recently and it got me all fired up again. This outfit does not exist to fix a problem with your current heating/plumbing/cooling infrastructure, they exist solely to tell you that you need to spend thousands - or tens of thousands - scrapping your old system and letting them install a new one. They are scammers, plain and simple - DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY read more

A customer with Horizon HVAC for over 12 years. Set up an appointment for semi-annual maintenance for the AC 45 days ago. Received confirmation last night that the Tech was going to be at my house between 8 AM and 12 Noon. At 8:48 AM this morning received a call from Horizon saying that they cancelled my appointment with no reason at all. I have (in the span of 5 hours since 8:48 AM attempted to speak to a manager to find out WHY? Finally, after close to 4+ hours received a call back from the "SUPERVISOR" indicating that because of the current heat wave, they had to cancel. OK, that would have been nice to know. Then I said, what happens if my AC breaks down due to a lack of service that (by the way was already prepaid, because they could not come out for another 30 days! I said, if it does break down, are they not going to charge me? No response. I asked to speak to the manager. Said "Matt" will call me back, but made no promises if that was ever going to happen. read more

The heat pump we just purchased from Horizon failed the simple, visual township inspection. When I called Horizon about this, the dispatcher was incredibly rude. From the very beginning of the phone call, he would not stop interrupting me, insisting I didn't know what I was talking about. We then had to call Horizon numerous times to get a response regarding the installation problems. Literally , no one would return our calls. They initially sent a tech out who did not know how to repair the problems. Eventually, they sent techs out who observed that the installation problems were so extensive, they had to literally remove and replace most of the equipment they'd installed. A main reason we'd purchased our Horizon heat pump was the salesman's assurance that it would be installed correctly. He told us 90% of heatpumps are installed incorrectly by other companies, but we could be certain that Horizon would install our unit correctly. He also told us the techs were highly trained, and customer service was excellent. In our experience, none of that was true. read more

I leave it to you whether you wish to work with this company. They recently bought Level Home Services in Maryland with whom I had been very pleased. I had a maintenance contract with Level Home which provided twice a year maintenance with filter replacements. They were great. During my first service call with Horizon, I was told that the filters were not included (which they eventually admitted they were) and that my UV lights needed to be replaced as were two contact switches. The tech said each set of bulbs (we have two sets) would be $1280 each and each contact would be $637. Total was over $3800. When I questioned the price, the tech said he could do both sets of bulbs for $1280. I knew at that point something was wrong. I declined both and he left. I went online and bought direct name brand replacements for all the bulbs and filters (which I never got) for a little over $400. 4 screws and 15 minutes for each furnace, and I was done. You decide. read more

Overpriced is an understatment Oil Boiler went out in winter (of course) emergency call out on weekend / had a leak, of course "it could not be repaired" (later found out from diff HVAC that indeed it could have been easily repaired) Anyway I got talked into a new unit, reluctantly paid 18,000$ ($2,000 for chimney liner sub contracted out by Horizon the rest on boiler & instalation) later research found out the boiler itself was only 4-5K for the whole system, meaning they got me for 12,000$ for labor for 3 guys in about 6hrs! Ok my fault not doing research in the short amount of time I had to make a decision BUT WOW that's obnoxious. At 100$ an hour it should have been 800$ x 3 x8hr day=2400$ so somewhere around 3-4k would have been resonable but 12k unbelievable. This isnt even the worst part as bad as that was. The sales guy asked if I wanted a loan , of course i dont have 18k laying around, so i signed for a "low monthly payment loan" I should have looked at the fine print closer on the stupid I-Pad because what the sales guy had me sign was actually a credit card with a pretty big interest rate , and it was immediately maxed out so my credit plunged 75 points because now that cards credit to debt ratio was maxed. Of course I'm partially to blame for not doing research on the parts (hard to do on a weekend with no hot water or heat in the middle of a feezing winter) and not reading the fine print for the "loan" but these guys use predatory tactics for sure. would not ever use them again! read more

Horizon and I had an Appointment schedule, they cancelled 20 min. before they were to arrive for a service of my oil burner. I expressed my disappointment and that I took the day off of work and they indicated a manager would call me in 12 hours. Today is 16 days since that day. I have made 5 different phone calls to them. One of the calls they had me on hold 42 minutes until I hung up. I think there customer service does not reflect what they say. If I ever by another oil burner, it will not be from them. There service and communication is very poor and frustrating. read more

They are the WORST!!! They will sell you a 20K HVAC System and you have to have them service your system or your warranty will be void. Then when you try to get them to come out and service they are awful . First I scheduled three months in advance ,the day they were to come they called and said they cannot come. This is my second schedule they were to be here between 8 and 12 at 11:45 they called to say they were running behind. Our day was scheduled ,for the SECOND time around the agreed to service. Horizon Services in PA is a premier dealer? Premier as far as volume? Or premier as in quality? I just had a Slp99 installed with the EL16 condenser and the Honeywell Prestige thermostat, and this is far from a quality install. I have yet to hear from a supervisor regarding the install. I will not sweep these issues under the rug and I will not hesitate to reach out to the local new station's consumer complaints division and have this blasted all over the news. 1. Large dent on the furnace 2 Scratches all over the condenser, the furnace and air filter box 3. 3 of the 4 sides of the supply plenum were sealed 4. Air leaking between the furnace and coil joints also the bottom return box 5. Takes off not secured and seated properly 6. End of supply and return trunks have large openings in the corners 7. Duct not screwed or sealed to the take off's 8. Sloppy mastic and silicone sealing with residue all over the middle of the furnace and coil box. 9. Damper not operable due to new trunk being installed too low which is causing the damper lever to hit the gas line 10. Drilled holes in the siding for the flush mount exhaust/intake incorrectly in which I immediately replaced the siding my self and the installer then messed up the new siding again. 11. Left the siding dirty with handprints and smudges all over then proceed to caulk with clear silicone around the siding penetrations which were also loaded with there black filth. 12. Drilled holes incorrectly in the brand new supply trunk that they installed and didn't seal them. 13. Coil is not fully accessible due to exhaust/intake piping being run on the same side as the access panel. 14. Already having communication/power issues with the thermostat 2 days after install. read more

Not sure which way to go as far as a review. I feel as if they were just in it for the sale. The response time for a problem was excellent...then the technician spotted an issue which could mean its time for a new system. We trust them as they were referred by a relative and schedule for the Sales representative to come out....but then came the hard sell. It was actually quite good from an information standpoint BUT...as soon as we signed on the dotted line...got the furnace installed...Boom...Crickets. No responses to emails, texts, calls, no follow up from Sales Person or anything closely related to customer service..etc. That said, a sale is easy....the follow up is what makes the money. Maybe a little concentration on that side of things would help Horizon. Hoping 2022 brings that change for them. read more

Fraudulent marketing and non existent service. I purchased an HVAC system from Horizon 7 years ago, along with a service plan. I called today (October 1) to schedule a tune up for my furnace and the first available appointment is December 31. I told the very nice woman on the phone, who was clearly embarrassed by having to tell me this, that this was unacceptable. She attempted to contact a manager but of course no one was available. As it stands now, someone from "customer relations" will contact me in the next day or two. This is in the face of weekly marketing emails asking me to schedule my maintenance appointment. I should not have to make several phone calls to schedule a maintenance appointment in a timely manner. I would certainly never purchase from Horizon again read more

Won't give any estimated pricing at all over the phone. As an educated consumer I always make it a point to call a few places for pricing before making a final decision but Horizon said absolutely no estimates until I scheduled an appointment and had the technician come out. I'm sorry but I'm not paying for someone to come give me a quote and you know they're not coming to your home&diagnosing the problem for free. I explained that to the phone to the operator yet she refused any kind of estimate again knowing they would lose a client. Obviously customer satisfaction is not high on their list of concerns. The woman didn't care at all about getting my business. Not a great way to get&build a customer base. read more

Price quote was gold plated - I needed to replace a broken pipe on my old basement laundry sink. Horizon determined they could not replace the pipe without replacing the entire sink and wanted to charge me $2,600 for the job. I used them A couple of years ago and remember their plumbing services were much more reasonably priced. Replacing the laundry sink was quoted to me at about $600 (including the sink, parts and labor) from an independent plumber. It's unfortunate to see that Horizon has become so over-priced. Obviously, they didn't get this job from me and I will never call them again. It still cost me $89 for them to send someone out and give me this outrageous price estimate. Save yourself the $89 and don't call them for their over-priced estimate. read more

Tech out on a Friday to diagnose my upstairs AC not working. Tech says the filter is dirty and caused the coils to freeze, then melt and the AC to shut off from the emergency switch. Next day, water continues leaking. Tech comes back, says it "must be the drip pan having a crack". We ask if it could be the drain pipe, he says multiple times "no way, can't be". Orders the drip pan which mind you is $1700. I have to put a $500 deposit down. Then hits the hottest temperatures we have had here all summer. Family sleeping downstairs for a week because no one has the part and i get not updates. Finally the part comes in a week later. Same tech out to fix it. Realizes it wasnt the drip pan at all, it was the drain pipe which was clogged and was fixed in 20 min. We had no AC upstairs for a week during the hottest days in a decade because this Tech couldn't properly diagnose. Now we are at the point where I'm waiting for the $500 refund on a part i never needed which has yet to come in. I called this week and they said they are working on it. What clicking a button? The Audubon Office of Horizon is a nightmare. Initially, was going to do no interest financing but did not realize it was online banking only. He told me I could make two payments...$3,500 this month and the balance next month. Today, March 16th, Lily Galloway in Horizon's Finance Department told me I had to pay in full before the loan would be cancelled. I told her "Mark" told me I could make two payments. Horizon like any large company has some great employees and others that clearly care little about their work and leave me no choice but to go against my typical nature and actually write a complaint. Below you'll see a couple reviews from me below that led up to this review. When they replaced my water line they got dirt in it which ruined my toilet tank parts and a filter in my kitchen faucet. I waited a week for them to bring a filter for my faucet so I got on yelp and complained when nobody would come out so they brought a new faucet but I'm guessing they hired a toddler to tighten it down because the whole thing moves all around and it wasn't even sealed so water gets in my cabinet under the sink which is now uneven. And to top it off I bought a fenced in yard so my dog could run without a leash and they never put my fence back and left my yard looking like a bomb went off. You'd think for a price tag over 10k that they could install a faucet better than a DIY'r like me but so far the one I put in that they ruined at least didn't leak and move everywhere. Or I dunno maybe at least try to level the dirt from the pipes they dug up so they could reconnect my fence. Why do I have to complain on yelp to get good help?!? read more

Make sure to do your research if you are using this company. ALWAYS get a second opinion. I had a maintenance agreement with them. My AC stopped working and when they came out to check it they said the part would be $3400 to repair and i was better off getting a new one. They sent out a salesman immediately and he quoted me the same price on a 3 ton 16 seer, 17 seer and 18-19 seer. Before he left he dropped the price $750 to try and get my business. It's never a good sign when they immediately offer to drop the price. I knew something wasn't right so i got a 2nd opinion. The other company came out and said it would be $1600 to fix the broken unit and quoted me 3k less than Horizon a new unit!! When i asked Horizon if they could do better on the 17 seer. They dropped the price almost 3k! They were completely ready to rip me off on the original quote. Shame on you. read more

We were customers of ServiceMark for years, when their residential business was transferred to Horizon we decided to stick with them to see how it went. For 2 years of tune ups we had no problems, but last week our AC stopped blowing cold air. Naturally, we called Horizon to come check it out. A day and a half later a tech came out, and told us our blower motor was bad. He told us that our blower motor had been "discontinued." Our Lennox unit is only 12 years old! We couldn't believe that they would no longer be making parts to service a 12 year old unit. The tech suggested we get a whole new unit, and sent a salesperson who came out just a few hours later to quote us $7k plus to replace our whole furnace, or nearly $30k to replace both units (one of which was still working perfectly)!!! LOL. Of course, the next day we got a second opinion from a local HVAC company who came out just hours after we called (unlike the day and a half it took for Horizon to get to us). They confirmed our blower motor was broken, but a quick phone call to the supply house confirmed our suspicion that the Horizon tech was not being honest about blower motor not being able to be replaced -- a compatible motor is still being manufactured, and was available for ordering. The local HVAC company also said that our systems have at least a few years left in them, and that Horizon's quotes for replacements were out of this world. After reading other reviews it seems that our experience is not unusual - we will not being using Horizon ever again, and will advise everyone we know to do the same! read more

We have a Lennox HVAC system installed by Horizon almost 6 years ago. We get general maintenance for the summers and winters to our system. I changed the humidifier pad once every winter. After I changed the pad I turned on the system to check and make sure there were no issues or leaks. Everything was fine. I turned the heat down since I left the house to babysit my grandson. When I came back home I noticed a yellow sign on my thermostat that said system is down. I checked on the system and saw some water underneath the heating unit. It was Friday night at 7pm when I called. The lady who answered the phone said the earliest we can get to you would be on Sunday. I asked for a sooner time because of the cold weather outside and we are seniors. She told me to hold and put in an emergency request. She came back on the line and asked if we could come over between 8pm to 12pm that Friday night. I said most definitely. John Segnere, the tech, arrived around 8:30 and fixed the drain pump issue. Heat was back on. John was very professional, lots of knowledge, great tech and Horizon is a great company to deal with. I highly recommend them. read more
