My husband and I have been really dissatisfied with Horizon. During their first visit here, the salesperson went to great lengths to explain that 90% of installations are done incorrectly and that Horizon trains their employees so that the job is done right the first time. We had our furnace replaced by them in January, and you can add us to that 90%. Our system is on two separate zones, and the heat is electric via a heat pump with a propane backup. A little complex, but nothing crazy. We thought everything was fine after the installation until we attempted to test our AC on a warmer day, and we realized the heat pump was outputting hot air instead of cold. We had Horizon back, and they told us our heat pump (which the salesman said was from 2003) was failing and would need to be replaced, so we started getting estimates for a new AC system. To make a very long story short, our initial Horizon setup was done incorrectly on a couple of fronts (both the zoning and the controls for the heat pump). This was finally diagnosed in March after a few second opinions from other HVAC companies (one of which knew how to look up a serial number and let us know that the heat pump is actually from 2017 and is perfectly fine), my husband repeatedly testing the system on his own, and three more visits from Horizon (shoutout to Jacob, the last tech who came by, who was able to tell us what was going on and was extremely helpful). My husband and I both work full time and have a young child, so to say that the amount of time spent on this (testing the system, setting up visits, and meeting with contractors over the past three months) has been stressful is an understatement. In addition to paying for the time and expertise of other companies for second opinions, our PECO and propane bills have been higher than usual because everything has been completely out of whack. I was hoping to communicate all this to Horizon in writing via email to customer service or a manager, but when I called the main office, I was told there was no email I could send any written communication to, which seems like a red flag in 2024. If you're considering Horizon, go with a smaller local company instead. What should have been a one-and-done installation ended up stretching over three months. read more

My system was sold and installed by them 6 years ago with a 15 year warranty. Now everything seems not to be covered. Every spring my system smells like dead feet, and they tell me it's common because of the way these evaporator cores and made so cheaply. So why do the sell them?? I am a 20+ year pre-pay customer. Horizon installed the heat, A/C and air filtration system. My last 3 appointments have been "bumped" multiple times on the same day as scheduled service without notification. When I call, I am told that there are new customers who did not have appointments but their service was more urgent because they did not have heat or A/C. So the regular prepaid customers get bumped. I had an appointment today. I called to confirm yesterday. I received a confirmation text this AM. When no one arrived today, I called & was again told that I had again been "bumped" from my pre-paid appointment, for new customers who had no A/C. This used to be a good company. I scheduled an appointment for a free estimate to evaluate my old cast iron basement rainwater sewer drain that has a slow leak after the last few days of heavy rains. I detailed that it could only be a 4 ft section that needs to be replaced because that's where the visible leak stems from. Roto-Rooter was here the previous evening to give me their free estimate that included 3 differently priced options. Horizon asked me to turn on the kitchen faucet to determine if the leak was in the pipe or coming through the foundation. But he claimed it didnt show anything definitive. So I turned on the hose in the backyard and directed the water flow into the backyard rainwater drain to prove it was a leaky pipe and not foundational. He agreed that the pipe was the cause. Told me as we were leaving the basement that he was going to have to charge me $104 for a "find the leak" fee but admitted that I essentially found the leak. No shit! I led you to the leak. Pointed to the leak. Water is wet. We can all see where water has wet the concrete and the little wet water path it took from the wet water pipe leak snaking around the wet water low grades in the wet water basement! Anyway, he went out to get his estimate together and came back with a $9500 price tag with 1 option to replace all the 4" pipe and the stack. That was with a senior and military discount. I am 52 btw asshole! Said they offer financing for 180 months. This was 3 times the highest price option that Roto-Rooter gave me the previous evening. Also, insisting that he wouldn't be able to work around the old philly toilet or the oil tank without demoing them and removing a lot of concrete along the wall. Said he would leave all of it in my basement after the work was completed. But told me he might be able to deduct $1000 if I demo'd the Philly toilet and concrete and oil tank myself. Why don't I give you a reach around while we're adding things that will enrich your life Sir? Lmao! I had to double check because I thought maybe I missed something or misread something somewhere when I scheduled the free estimate. Nope. Its on their website. Free estimates. Upfront pricing. He had me sign 3 forms I couldn't read on his phone because he said they didn't train him to use his ipad. Gtfoh! Also suggested cutting a hole for a permanent hatch in my 116 year old old-growth heart pine floors so I could get some of the larger items from demo out of the basement. I had Horizon install a complete AC system about 14 years ago, every year they came out to do the annual check up. Never had an issue or was told anything was wrong, always a clean bill of health, This past April 2026 had them out again for the yearly check up and now all of a sudden, they find mold through out the inside air handler and rust all over the condenser coils. I was told that my system was at catastrophic failure and probably not make it through the season and the mold was not safe to breath. I asked the service tech how could this have just come out of nowhere, the system was checked less that a year earlier? He said this should have been caught a few years ago and what he is seeing, did not just happen in the last year, tech also said the last few techs that worked on my system should have caught the issue, but obviously they never opened up the air handler to do a proper inspection that I was paying for year over year. Service tech basically admitted the last few techs did not do their job. I have been paying for these yearly tune ups for nothing, and my family has been inhaling mold for god knows how long. Horizon refused to compensate me other than take a $1000 off of a new system that they want $17,000 for. I will never use Horizon again. They used to be a great company and I would always recommend them to people because they always stood behind their service. rip off artists - stay away. They sold me a system that constantly breaks down. Then they talked me into a service plan (360 I believe). They send someone out for regular serine and they tell me that my condensate pump needs to be cleansed out and treated with some spray on gook. The cleaning was 400$ (mind you plus what I paid for the service plan). It took the tech 15 minutes. $400 for 15 minutes is $1600 per hour to clean out a pump - are you kidding ? Horizon Services replaced my sewer line on January 16th 2025. This involved them installing new piping running through our wall and resealing around the pipe. A few days later the pipe was leaking into our house. I have been calling for almost a month. We have been scheduled and canceled on multiple times. I have been promised that Corey, the plumbing manager, will call back, but he never does. Will need to hire another service to correct Horizon's problem. Then will take them to court to get reimbursed on the shotty work. They say they have a 20 year warranty, but it hasn't been 30 days. read more

I got a new HVAC system installed last year and I already had to have them come out once to repair the humidifier and now it's making another rattling sound. They were supposed to be here yesterday and canceled, again today and canceled. They've done this canceling of appointments numerous times over the last year with other service calls. If my warranty wasn't with them I would go with another company. With all the money I spent on this system I shouldn't have any problems in the first year. Monday 12:50 - husband called again because we haven't heard and was placed on hold, told "John isn't available right now but he has your info and will reach out". We explained we've been told this since Wednesday lol meanwhile this is in efforts to get a refund or partial refund for an employee coming to our house, not fixing the issue and saying the issue was WORSE after what he "did" then leaving. Horizon claims to be 24/7 but that is far from the truth. On 2/8/26 around 6-7am, my 86 year old grandmother noticed her heat wasn't on or working. We called Horizon before 8am. Wind chills are in the negative and she has multiple health conditions. We were told her issue would be marked as urgent. We have followed up 4 TIMES throughout the day and all we kept getting is that all the techs are busy. So now, my grandmother has to wait until 2/9/26 at NOON for anyone to even check the heat. There is no reason that her vital issue has not been addressed when our area in Pennsylvania is the coldest it's been in decades. She is currently relaying on space heaters and her oven! We are extremely frustrated and outraged at the lack of urgency. read more

This is the third time I have scheduled our AC check or Heat check - scheduled months in advance, made arrangements to be home on the scheduled date, only to receive a phone call at the last minute telling me that they need to reschedule (3+ months out) due to "no heat" or "no ac" calls. Less than an hour later I received a marketing text from Horizon stating "Horizon can help prep your home comfort for the upcoming holidays. I am a service contract holder with Horizon. This includes two tune-up visits per year. My issue is scheduling the services. They have no availability closer than six months out. Because of this, I have scheduled two years worth of services, however, if a conflict arises and I have to reschedule I'm now skipping a service because they can't show up for six months. It's horrendous. Either they're grossly understaffed or they don't really care about honoring their customer's service contract, or both. I would not recommend Horizon based on this to anyone at this point. read more

I have used these guys for several years only because I had a warrantied unit. That unit ran out of warranty coverage 6/24. The 2 times since I have used them, they cancel the appointment less than an hour before the service window. Made me wait in one case 3 months to come out and then canceled the service for 3 more weeks. The current appointment was again canceled after setting it 3 weeks ago, less than 30 minutes prior to the service window. Had to explain it 3x on the phone to 2 people that initially assured me they would keep it for the scheduled time. Then they said they cannot do that. Received a confirmation last nite - confirmed the appointment. Took time off from work. Then they changed the appointment window time and a few hours later eventually canceled it as well. This is how they now seem to do business. I spent $30k in 2024 alone with this outfit and this is how I get treated. Stay away from these clowns. When the business manager attempts to reply to this review or contact me, know that I have already terminated my 4 service contracts with Horizon on my rentals. My employees have been instructed to only call horizon on warranty issues and nothing else and to keep any schedule appointment date open and not count on Horizon showing up - despite any confirmations made. read more

I wouldn't be writing this Review if one thing would have happened, TALK TO ME. Don't place the answering service in the position of telling a Customer that the Supervisor has left for the day at 2.45p on a Thursday. Especially when the Horizon repairman had just fried our whole cooling system, including the thermostat!! What started with a bad fan motor in a new AC system that was only 3.5 years old in a $10,000 system, for which we had waited 4 days for the new motor to be installed. Add to that the fact that the repairman told me he would be at our home at 8.30a and didn't arrive until 11.30a - after having to use a vacation day to wait at home for them to arrive. Then telling me this will be 'quick' all I have to do is switch out the motor by mounting it and plugging in the new one. Hours went by, nothing. He comes in to test the thermostat and it is non-responsive. He tells me to get new batteries, which I did. Then asks me, "these are new?" To which I say, 'of course' - you watched me take them out of the box. Then he goes out to his truck for the next 1.5hrs, supposedly speaks with his Supervisor and comes in and tells me that he has fried the system. I reply by saying I will be calling a senior person to speak with them. Called 4 times and never spoke with anyone. Each time I waited on hold for an extended period of time. Each time, I was then told by the answering service that someone would call and never did. Then at 2.45p I am told "everyone has left for the day" and no one would be calling. This was a Thursday, I had been home all day and no one would speak with me. We remain without an AC system, no plan, no calls - - nothing!!! If I could rate them a ZERO, I would. read more

They provided me with an estimate for over $500 to unclog the toilet and replace the pump. Would highly recommend against using their service. The techs in general are all reasonable and capable. The management and customer service are among the worst I have ever experienced. They do not return calls as requested and despite being told a manager will reach out to help fix problems in my experience they have not called and they will not put you in contact with a manager when you call. They cancel appointments with minimal notice and try to schedule them months later. Have had maintenance appointments scheduled the day of or the day before multiple times. These folks replaced our HVAC system 2 years ago. No complaints. We called them this week to come out and look at a few things and get an estimate. A couple leaks and replace the garbage disposal. We can do the disposal ourselves, but figured if they were going to be here. The price quote (which I have in writing) for a new disposal and installation was $916. When I balked at that he said something about a military discount and a senior discount would bring it down to $532, but only if we did it that day. My wife did it herself today. $139 from Lowe's. To have Lowe's come over and install was $200 more. $916 to install a garbage disposal? You can bet we won't be calling them again. read more

After they put in the entire furnace, there was no room for the Aprail Aire to fit. So that was that. On January 2024 horizon services installed a brand New York heating and system in my home since then I have had issues no heat and they have been out 12 times since they installed the unit which they themselves said that they do not use anymore because in their own words said they have had too many issues with they sent out their top guys who now this is 2026 so it's been going on for two years they finally said that there were several leaks and it had been leaking Freon for those years and that's why I had no heat now their top guys while soldering never laid down any thing protective and burned my floor so now not only are they not making good on the warranty that they have promised to extend but are also not returning phone calls or emails regarding the damage that they have done to my floor I spent $11,000 on a unit that they claimed my heating bills and my air-conditioning bills would be lowerand that also is not the case everything about this company has been a nightmare, and I will be posting it all over the Internet. Very disappointed... I have had nothing but issues since having my AC/Heat pump unit installed. From the beginning, the first installation team improperly installed the line set, which had to be reran. Since installation, I have had to have multiple service visits because my unit stopped working properly. My Lennox system is maybe two years old and already needs a fan motor, of which Horizon does not stock, so my wife, kids, pets, and I have to deal with 80 degree temperatures in the house until they get one. I really wanted this to be a good experience and everyone that I have dealt with has been great, but the equipment quality is terrible. read more

It's incredible. In August i buy an annual membership, and try to schedule a maintenance service which they say this membership pays for. Well. the earliest date i get is December. So i book December. The day before the service they leave a voice mail that they can't come, they are overbooked. So i call back and rebook. The earliest is Feb 10th, 2025. Of course i stay home from work to be there for them. Would you believe it, in the middle of the window they gave me, they leave same voicemail as in December: they are overbooked. We called at 11:58am on 12/14 to make an appointment for a plumbing emergency. The customer service representative that we spoke to took our name and address, CONFIRMED that they do service our area, and offered to schedule an appointment between 2-4pm today. The representative said to look for a confirmation email, but after an hour and a half (1:30pm, 30 minutes before the appointment timeframe would begin) we received no email so we called back to check in. The customer service representative this time (who sounded the same but says she isn't the representative we talked to earlier) claims that our information was never in their system, and they don't service our area whatsoever. We asked to speak to a supervisor, because if not her we definitely talked to someone and they needed to sort this out, but she claimed they do not have a supervisor, so she transferred us to dispatch. Dispatch confirmed that they do not service our area, and she was also confused why they would lie to us about scheduling an appointment that they knew could not be filled and telling us to wait for an email that they knew would not be coming, and that she would forward this to the manager that they definitely do have. I hope she does, because we've never had such a ridiculous experience from any other company. Remember, we are dealing with a plumbing EMERGENCY. Now we have to scramble to find another plumber to come out. And for the record, our address is well within the service area that this business chose to list here on Yelp. read more

They post these free services to send a camera down your toilet..it's all bs ..nothing is free and they want to sell you an entirely new set up that is their goal. We found an ex employee who told us once you complain they will schedule to come out and fix the issue for free or discounted and then an hour before the appt they will cancel..guess what they cancelled our appt this morning just like we were told they would do stating that the camera broke and it would be at least ten days before they can get out .because a huge company like that had one working camera I suppose. They also snaked our toilet yesterday with 25 ft without the grabber on the end ..instead they used the poker ..according to the ex employee this is also done on purpose to poke holes in the clog and allow you to flush properly for about a week before the clog reattaches and you need to call them again to come out. I am currently in the midst of a warranty repair job that has been ongoing since April14, 2025. 4 different technicians have been out, 4 parts have been replaced per techs. The first replaced part had to be replaced again because the installer damaged the new part. Now the coils that was replaced a week prior is to be replaced again. I spoke with Richard Dow, the warranty and training manager and emailed him about my concerns that this problem will not be fixed before settlement on my home on June 2. I requested that a manager come out to check the work. At the start of the conversation he said he would come out while the tech was here, by the end of the conversation he had decided that he would come out if he was available. Surprise, Surprise, he was not available. The first invoice I got had a notation that the house was for sale-wonder why that was important for fixing the problem. I did not receive an invoice for all the visits. These techs clearly don't know what they're doing. The covering over the insulation in the outside unit is newly torn. The metal cover on the inside unit fell off a few hours after one visit as the screws that were removed were not replaced. We used Horizon to replace our old terracotta waste pipe--it's a very expensive project that cost over $20K, but overall I'm satisfied with the job Horizon did. Before we went with Horizon, we called another major plumbing company for a quote, and the experience over the phone was much worse than Horizon. Horizon sent out a guy in a timely fashion and we got an estimate back pretty quickly. The whole project was three to four days, during which they kept the area in a decent condition, nothing grossly messy. They accidentally broke a window handle. Although it took them a long time to find a replacement handle and fix it, they eventually did an excellent repair job. I think I probably could find another plumbing company at a slightly lower price point, but for such a giant project, I'd rather go with Horizon, who provided a decent warranty. My only reservation: A week before we had the waste pipe replaced by Horizon, we also had Horizon done a pipe video inspection, which cost slightly over $400. I wish Horizon could have waived this amount, considering we asked them to replace the waste pipe shortly after. read more

I have used this company for many years but their service has turned to shit. Today I called to schedule my prepaid PM for my central AC unit and was told they couldn't do it till November. I have never had this problem before. Why do I have a pre paid plan? People have work schedules that you don't know 6 months in advance when your days off are. This is the worst customer service I have ever felt with. I now have 2 people with respiratory issues in my home who I don't know if the AC unit will be ok for them. Also have a dog who needs to be in a cool house during the summer heat. These people will trick you into a service plan an then not make good for that particular season. So while I had them on the phone I asked if I could schedule the PM for my heater in the fall and they said no because it keeps kicking out the service request. I'm done with this company. Tech quoted the job over $4,000 using the company software/iPad. I called another company whom did the job for $530. Five hundred and thirty****. Horizon (HVAC) is a disgrace and words could not describe my disgust for a company to the likes of this. The job was HVAC AC refrigerant leak which I located myself in the filter/drier component. The tech was unable to do the job upon arrival and wanted me to schedule an appointment. Also wanted me to pay the $90 dispatch fee. Point being, they can't always fix stuff during "same day arrival" so make sure you talk to the tech before he comes ti your house. Under no circumstance should anybody ever call Horizon. Instead, call several local businesses then choose based on that interaction. I did and it saved me thousands of dollars. Good luck read more

The last two times I contacted Horizon to clear sewer trains they failed miserably. The first was at a rental in Norristown which they failed to clear but succeeded in charging me. So, I had to contact a plumber that cleared the line without any problem. The second was at my home in Exton which was worse. The technician said that they couldn't clear the line because I had dirt in the line and they would have to return with a scope and a guaranteed course of action. I wasn't about to get my yard dug up without a second opinion so I called a reputable firm that scoped the entire line and found no dirt and showed me that our problem area was a sag in the line. Horizon charged for their lack of service call again. I've used them for years but after the last two episodes am finished using them. read more
