    Curry rice side

We first walked by it at 8 and the line to get in was very long. We then walked back at 9:45 and saw a much shorter line so we decided to try it. I had a small one with wood mushroom, my younger has the chashu tonkosu, and the oldest had "the one" tonkatsu combo with curry rice. The broth was amazing. You can tell it was a slow cooked broth with depth. The pork was just ok for me, I thought it was slightly overcooked. Mushroom was good tho. A Very satisfying late night meal. The service was quick, we just have to ask for water and chili sauce.

Rainy days call for a warm bowl of ramen, so I finally tried another ramen joint in Vancouver. I'd heard good things about Horin and, of course, we had to wait in line for almost an hour (weekend, around 5:30 pm). All in all, it was a so-so experience. I appreciated the options to customize the noodles, saltiness, etc., but found the tonkotsu to be quite light. We ordered The One (which comes with four chashu and an ajitama egg) for $17.90, which is actually reasonable, plus an extra $2.50 for gyoza and a side salad. I did enjoy having the aburi chashu.

Ramen is always a good choice on rainy days. Don't advise parties bigger than 4 people, even sitting 4 people could take a bit of time. The food was very tasty and good portions.

Great spot for ramen! Good texture of noodles, creamy broth and bouncy eggs. Enjoyed the seared char siu, bean sprouts and green onions in my bowl as well. The small size was still very filling and tasty.

Finally tried this place after hearing about it everywhere. I ordered the Ajitama (ramen with egg), and we all chose the combo, which is such a good deal since it lets you add one side and one salad. Highly recommend getting the combo so you can try more dishes. We ordered the horin gyoza, chicken nanban, chashu bowl, and matcha tiramisu. The must-try is definitely the chashu bowl. The flavour was so good that we actually talked about ordering it as our main next time. The matcha tiramisu was also delicious and reminded me of the dessert at Ichiran in Japan. The chicken nanban came highly recommended, but we didn't finish it because there was just too much sauce. I would probably ask for the sauce on the side next time. The worst part of our visit was how long it took to get seated. The servers didn't seem very efficient. They kept seating smaller groups who arrived after us and didn't try to adjust any tables, even though moving people around a bit could have gotten us in much earlier. Overall, I still prefer the broth at Ramen Danbo, but the aburi pork belly chashu here is better. Next time, I would probably just get the chashu bowl or try a different ramen.

My friend recommended this place and sure enough it was really good! I'm not a big fan of pork but the original ramen was made and blended so good together that I couldn't help but to devour it! The matcha tiramisu we had also were delicious, not too sweet which I luved a lot. They also have those fun japanese toilets set that have seat warmer lol. The staff are polite and say greetings in a Japanese style to everyone, u will luv the energy. *keep in mind that it gets very busy so be sure to have reservations at least cause it's popular and for a good reason.

If comfort had a passport, it would stamp Horin Tonkotsu Ramen in Vancouver's West End as a mandatory stop. I ducked in on a drizzly evening, and the cozy, steamy atmosphere felt like a warm hug from someone who really knows how to boil pork bones. The menu focuses on tonkotsu ramen, and they take their broth seriously rich, creamy, and full of that deep umami magic that makes you briefly question every instant noodle decision you've ever made. I went classic with their signature bowl and immediately understood why this place stays busy. The broth was silky and perfectly balanced, the noodles had just the right springy chew, and the slices of chashu pork practically melted like a well-timed compliment. Even the soft-boiled egg was a tiny masterpiece, with a golden yolk that could star in its own food commercial. Service was friendly and efficient, despite a steady crowd of ramen seekers. The atmosphere is casual but inviting, with the gentle clatter of chopsticks and the occasional happy slurp creating a soundtrack of pure satisfaction. Horin doesn't just serve ramen, they orchestrate a soul-soothing experience that makes you forget Vancouver rain and embrace noodle nirvana. Very good? Absolutely. Borderline life-changing? Let's just say I'd cross town in a snowstorm for another bowl.

I liked it. There was another place that had a really long line, but this place was fine. The broth was good and made better with the spices. It's a long restaurant with a lot of rows of tables for two people. You do need to wait outside before they seat you. It's a little awkward. But the matcha tiramisu was delicious.

    Carmen P.

We stopped by as there isn't the usual line outside and was curious. What's all the hype about? I had The One and was slightly disappointed as I think I hyped it up in my head. It was flavourful and filling but somehow I was expecting it to blow my socks off. Overall it wasn't bad at all. Reasonably priced with just the right amount of carbs. The restaurant is tight-ish. You can definitely hear your neighbours slurping their noodles.

I've visited Horin multiple times in the past and return whenever I crave tonkotsu broth ramen. I like how you can customize your ramen as per your tastes when you order, changing the noodle texture, soup firmness, soy sauce, broth richness, chashu style and spice level.  This time, I visited for their Happy Hour promotion (Mon-Thurs, 3-5pm or after 9pm), where you can get unlimited noodle refills. There is a charge if you don't finish the noodles, so order accordingly. I ordered the Chashu Ramen, which comes with 6 large slices of pork belly and an Asahi draft beer.  The soup had it's typically richness and deep pork broth flavour. The spicy tare sauce makes Horin unique as it has a kick to it, but is very aromatic. The thin and chewy/firm noodles complement the soup well. For the happy hour, I ordered 2 full size orders of noodles and each came within minutes of the order. I was also very full after my meal but happy stuffed with noodles.  I've visited Fukuoka, Japan and I can say that this ramen is one of the closest bowls of Tonkotsu ramen you can get outside of Japan. Will be back again.

A causal Japanese ramen spot. It was clean and the service was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. The tantan cream ramen was very flavorful. The noodles were delicious. I would have maybe changed the tofu for chashu but it was okay.

Original ramen, w/ an extra egg+chili.

This is a super reliable ramen spot - it's not going to blow you away, but it's also not going to disappoint!

    Finished bowl of Ramen

Amazing Ramen! I ordered the #4 Chashin Ramen bowl, which comes with extra Chashin pork. Broth was creamy and flavorful, the noodles serving was very generous even for being the regular size. Service was fantastic, with an enthusiastic greeting from all staff. The atmosphere was friendly, and the service was quick. The seating I good distance from other diners while maintaining a closeness to whoever you bring to sit across. Would definitely eat here again and finished another bowel of #4 Chashin ramen.

Your preference will depend upon subtleties about noodle thickness and texture and broth flavors, but there is always, always a line in front of Ramen Danbo. A lot of it is probably due to hype or fame, but I have to admit that I think it does edge out the others in several ways. I think the noodles themself are more flavorful and more delicate. And I have to say the pork was extremely tender and flavorful. The egg was perfectly prepared, and the broth was perfectly seasoned to my desired spiciness level. They also do a great job searing their gyozas. Because of its overwhelming popularity, they have perfected the ordering process so that you can fill out a form while you're in line, which greatly reduces your wait time. It's easy to get in and out of here in 30 min, and I'm sure that is their goal. Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

It also happened to be Sake Friday, so we picked up a bottle at 50% off - hard to complain about that math. The ambience was generally fine, but the staff were doing a photoshoot for their new menu right beside our table. The gyoza and rice bowl were great! The gyoza, which we ordered on the recommendation of our waiter when we told them we were looking for a vegetarian appetizer, were made with soy-based imitation meat that had a very meaty texture - simple but very tasty. The rice bowl also had the soy meat, but seasoned differently, with a more intense flavour, along with atsuage tofu and various vegetables. It was delicious and also seemed healthy. We liked the aburi cheesecake, but it was more lemony than we expected. The waiters who brought it out said the lemon was to cut the sweetness, but we actually felt like the lemon competed with the caramel flavour of the bruleed crust. The textures were amazing though. We really enjoyed our meal here and I wish I'd tried them sooner!
