Came here with a few other family member. I had the Vegan Truffle Wonton Ramen again, and my mom decided to have the same thing as me as well. So...2 bowls of Vegan Truffle Wonton Ramen at our table. How did I forget about this dish? It was sooo good last time, and equally as good this time. My daughter ordered some takoyaki and a mini bowl of ramen. Her cousin ordered some Brussel Sprouts tempura and some salmon tacos. OK, gotta say the salmon tacos were the one disappointment on our table. No complaints about the taste but they were super small tacos. Don't order the salmon tacos if you're hungry. Or else...if you really wanna try them, make sure to order more food in addition to those salmon tacos. Don't know why I keep on forgetting about this place every time we're in this part of town and have a craving for ramen. Gonna have to try to get back here a bit more often so I can enjoy that Vegan Truffle Wonton Ramen more often! read more

Surprisingly this was the first time I ate from Zubu considering how many times I've heard about them! My friends and I ordered in so didn't get a chance to visit their restaurant. They were very considerate and marked every order with the person's name so that there is no confusion. Definitely appreciate that! They have so many options on their menu but my friend told me to try their vegan ramen because it is one of the best, so I decided to try it and she was sooo right!! Best ramen I've had in Vancouver!! It had so much flavour and texture. I chose the thin noodles with fresh garlic on the side, I think the thin noodles really soaked up the ramen flavours very well. Had lunch around 12:30 on Boxing Day. There wasn't much of a wait for 2 ppl. I was so hungry I didn't get many pictures! The place was clean and spacious. My company and I sat at one of the communal long tables. We shared their lunch special w tonkotsu thick ramen noodles, comes w salad and truffle fries and a daily dessert (we got yuzu jelly). The noodles were al dente just like how I like them. I am not sure if you can specify how well done you'd like your noodles. You can try asking. Extra noodles refills are available here for $2. My new favourite ramen chain! We walked in into the Park Royale one at 5:30 and thankfully got a table as this is a busy place! Ambiance was busy but nice. I like that they have large open tables that you share or can sit in booths with your large group. I ordered spicy chicken ramen & I asked for spicy which was level 2 and they had 2 more levels after that. Next time I will prefer level 3 spice as 2 was mild for me. The broth was creamy and delicate. The chicken katsu was the winner for me. So so delicious!! If you are a garlic girl like me do not forget to add crispy garlic. I also added chicken wontons which were very tasty and delicious. The disappointment was spicy chilli and garlic oil. It was a paste not oil. Not garlic crunch no spice. Just red paste! But overall it was a really good bowl of ramen. My kid ordered the kids meal and he got this plane/boat type of dish filled with all the appetizers. His ramen was simple but delicious. Ok, for some reason I hadn't been to this ramen place in person even though it's really close. Just a couple notes and tips to be helpful: - the menu is really huge. I think it's good? Lots of great appetizers (I highly recommend the cauliflower broccoli one - very crunchy and we'll done. Fries are good too). Curries as well look great. They even have mazesoba. I can come back to this place again and again and try diff stuff - if you have kids order the KIDS MEAL. This is a gigantic meal with ramen, Karaage, tempura, sushi, and dessert. Nice Dining Option for Ramen lovers. With special non-ramen menu items to entice the sushi lovers. I enjoyed this Park Royal location for its ambiance and courteous service. We visited shortly after it opened at 11am so it wasn't busy at that time and didn't have line ups like the Metrotown location. Ordered crispy chicken ramen and blue crab hand roll and I enjoyed both dishes. Chicken broth is on the saltier or stronger tasting spectrum but I prefer ramen broth that are rich and flavorful. Personal preference for broth. Zubu do offer ramen choices with a lighter tasting clear chicken broth. Male server forgot to put in my order of fresh garlic and the broth was strongly flavored enough that I didn't bother asking for it. I personally liked the hand roll even more than ramen. I would want to visit Zubu's other locations to try more menu items. Prices are around $18 for various ramen dishes. They were offering a promotional lunch price for some ramen flavors to celebrate opening a new location in downtown. Good ramen lunch deal at $10 this week at Park Royal and Kerrisdale location. I had a sudden craving for Ramen & just happened to be at Park Royal Mall in West Vancouver. Zubu Ramen Bar had caught my eye before on previous trips to the mall & so I thought to give it a try this time. Sure glad I did! The interior is set-up in classic Japanese type theme with beautiful wood. Genesis, our server was very informative & helpful. My Yazu Cream cocktail was on point! The Spicy Chicken Ramen was slurpy delicious & very tasty! My taste buds were singing & dancing! The Ebi Mayo, Gyoza with Ramen were all a delight. The Aburi Cheesecake dessert was not too cheesy but light & smooth enough to satisfy. The presentation of this dessert was pretty cool via a fire show. Next time I'll try the Mango Mochi Ice Cream. *Hot Tip Alert - Zubu will be coming out with a new menu next month so keep an eye out for that. After shopping at Park Royal, we decided to grab dinner at ZUBU Ramen in the village. Since we were pretty hungry, we both decided to get the $30 Munch-Crunch-Slurp 4-course menu. Here's what we chose (2 sets): Starters: - French Fries (Curry Cheese) - French Fries (Consommé Garlic) Appetizers: - Crispy Chicken - Takoyaki Entrées: - Tonkotsu Kuro - Mazesoba Desserts: - Double Fromage (Chocolate) - Double Fromage (Vanilla) Loved both the seasoning flavours for the fries, but what really got us was the special zesty-tasting ketchup they were served with! The chicken was very tasty - crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside. The takoyaki had a unique deep-fried crispy outer breaded skin that gave it an extra crunch. I loved the flavourful broth of the Kuro ramen, the perfectly-cooked noodles, and all the toppings! I probably should've gone with the fatty meat option because the lean meat was a little tough in some parts. Still delicious though! The Mazesoba was a little spicy & had an unusual flavour. It was worth a try but I probably wouldn't choose it again. By the end, we were so stuffed so we asked for 1 of our desserts to go. We had the chocolate cheesecake on the spot. It was light & flavourful, but not overly sweet. Loved it! Overall, the $30 set menu is a great deal, and all of the food tasted really good! The best ramen we've had prior to this was at another shop near Robson, but we decided to give Zubu a chance. We were also traveling with three children and the place appeared very kid friendly. We tried a bunch of different things, including the chashu rice bowl, tonkotsu and chicken ramen, salmon tacos, and kids meal. Everything was great, but the chicken ramen was by far the best! It was better than the place in Robson that we really enjoyed before! I love the fact that the chicken was served with CHICKEN chashu (basically poached and brined chicken)!! This is a new addition to the ramen scene in the north shore though my friend living in West Van said it is a godsend as he need not drive to downtown vancouver for a ramen fix now. We shared 3 appetizers as we were both super hungry. The portions were not huge anyway. Crispy chicken -- it's quite average and not something I will order again. Takoyaki with tempura dip -- it's pretty good with a crispy shell. I can do without the dip though. Japanese shishito pepper with spicy crispy garlic oil -- get this if you like pepper! It has a mild heat but it makes a nice snack. It has a nice flavor to it. I had the tonkotsu kuro ramen with an egg. The egg was nice but at $2 extra, it was a bit on the high side. The broth was rich and flavorful, the ramen had a chewy bite to it. The pork chashu was a bit too thick and porky for my taste. The portion was ok for me but it might be too little for those used to a bigger size. Still not the best ramen but it is decent and much better than so many others in the lower mainland. I like this place for the variety of dishes besides ramen. The appetizer menu is good and plenty of alcoholic drinks too. And it has vegetarian and gluten free options so you can actually dine with friends who are on that diet. Service was good and the server came over several times to check on us. Tried Zubu for the second time during their promotional offering ($10 select ramen). It was a Tuesday morning (11am) and we were the first ones to be seated as they opened. Service was friendly and quick, we got our orders in and our ramen came out in good time. I tried the Tonkotsu Kuro since I love black garlic. It comes with pork broth, thin noodle, pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, crispy garlic, black garlic oil, crispy onion, nori seaweed. You get a choice of fatty or lean meat or a combination. I'd recommend lean since there's not much meat on the fatty cuts. The ramen won't fill you up by itself so I also ordered a baby scallop hand roll, which was yummy. I also added toppings (extra chashu and spicy bean sprouts) as the last time I went to Zubu (Metrotown location), I felt the ramen bowl was missing some oomph! We had a family toboggan day on the mountain and craved for some hot ramen soup. This place came to the second ramen place nearby so we decided to give it a try. I didn't have any expectations as I thought it was just a regular ramen place, but our experience was far better than I expected. They do encourage to make reso online, but they also have a list for walk-in customers. We waited around 15 mins and walked around, received a call from the restaurant to let us know that the table was about to be ready, so we can start heading back. We were sat down right away, and also offered booster seat for our little one. Their covid protocol is very standard, they have contact tracing and indoor mask requirement. They have a happy hour menu from 2-5, and 6-9. We ordered quite a few happy hour side dish for a taste. The highlight is the Ebi Mayo and was well received by my whole family, even my daughter who's usually particular about her food. The batter was well incorporated, and the flavor was well balanced, not too sweet and crunchy. A very nice surprise was that they even took out all the shrimp tails! I've had Ebi Mayo at many other restaurants, and this is the first one they took the shrimp tails off so you can eat the whole thing without spitting out the shells. The only thing we wish wish it could be better was the Brussels sprout tempura with white truffle oil, it was definitely on the salty side. and I wish they could ease on the sea salt a little bit, but it's just our own preference. The ramen broth was nice and rich, with options to add different toppings. The noodle was cooked at the right temperature, not too hard and not to soft. The nice thing about this place is that it's not just a ramen bar, but it has a little bit of everything of the Japanese Cusine. Their online menu is well organized and categorized by different kind of food. Service was friendly and professional. ZUBU is beautifully renovated, and the restaurant feels spacious and modern. We came in hungry and with no expectations, but left extremely impressed by our experience. The staff members are really nice, and offered helpful suggestions for what to order. They were very happy to share with us that they really liked certain menu items, and confidence in their own product is always a good sign. We were given an order of Ebi Mayo which we didn't order (we instead ordered the Ebi Fry - honest mistake), and the staff was extremely quick at rectifying the error and even gave us the Ebi Mayo on the house! It's really evident that they try their best to make your visit a good one. The Ebi Mayo was also delicious - definitely recommend as a shared appetizer for two. I ordered the Tonkotsu Shiro which was a chicken and pork broth. To me this was perfect, as I was in the mood for a full-on heavy tonkotsu, and it was absolutely delicious. No fancy gimmicks, just good broth with chewy noodles and tender pork. The Ebi Fry was nice and crispy too, and makes for a nice snack if ramen isn't enough to satisfy your hunger. Overall I think this is definitely somewhere I'll come back to. Sometimes you don't want ramen with all the bells and whistles, so it's nice to have a place where you know you'll get something balanced. If there's one thing I had to give criticism for, it's that I wish the music was a little quieter - if the restaurant is more full conversations can be a bit difficult to hear. read more

To be honest, I didn't have high expectations for ZUBU since there are few good ramen restaurants outside of downtown. However, my experience at ZUBU was undoubtedly amazing! They follow all COVID protocols, and the restaurant is very sleek and clean. Their menu is also online, which reduces touch points. I ordered the Tonkotsu Aka which has a spicy pork broth. You can choose the level of spice between 0-5, and I got level 2 which was actually decently spicy. It was really good and had me sweating at the end! We also ordered the takoyaki which was nice and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Their potato salad was so cute and came on a small plate. It was actually really good and refreshing. The house salad was also nice and I really liked the vinaigrette on it. The service is great and honestly I couldn't ask for more. I stopped by here for lunch since it was one of the few restaurants at Park Royal with outdoor dining. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and seated us right away. We watched as they cleaned our seats and tables and turned on the heaters since it was a bit windy outside. My mom and I both ordered the tonkotsu kuro with thick noodles instead of thin and lean cha shu. We also got a side salad and california hand roll for an extra $5.40. The hand roll and salad came out first and it was so delicious, the crab filling inside the roll was so tasty and the salad consisted of cabbage and spring greens and had this amazing miso sesame dressing. Our ramen came out shortly after and was so delicious, the broth was just the right flavour, creamy, rich and not too salty. The thick noodles had an amazing texture and nice bite and the woodear mushrooms, seaweed and cha shu meat tasted amazing and just complimented the ramen so well, we both finished our bowls until there wasn't a single drop of broth left. The staff were so sweet to check in between our dishes and clean up around the table and at the end they even gave us some complimentary mochi ice cream, we got the mango and matcha flavour and they were both so delicious. The mochi on it was nice and chewy, the matcha was more creamy while the mango one was more sweet. This is my first dine im experience at Zubu as I've bought their takeout before and I must say that I'm really impressed with the food quality and service at this location and that I will definitely return! read more

2020 September review: Came here at 5pm for dinner with a friend- we didn't have to wait and we sat at the bar, well away from the other tables. All staff were masked. Staff were polite and we didn't have to wait long for our food! I ordered the TONKOTSU AKA ~$15.5 and I changed my noodles to the kale noodles for an extra +$1. This is their spicy pork broth ramen bowl that comes with pork chashu as well. The waitress was not wrong when she said that their spice level is pretty strong so I am glad I went with mild because it felt most like a 2.5-3 star spice level! Tons of flavor from the broth and I really enjoyed the taste of the kale noodles. I wished there could be just one extra slice of chashu or more veggies for the price I paid. I would still order again though :) Definitely a solid spot for ramen and would recommend it to others! read more

Lucky for us there was a happy hour in place with a few items we thought we'd try. All the dishes had great presentation, and tasted just as good as they looked! The good lady wife and I went for a late lunch on a Saturday at this recently opened Ramen and Street food spot in Park Royal. They are dealing well with COVID with limited seating, masked staff and contact tracing. So there's that. I had the Tonkatsu Aka and the wife had the seasonal Crispy Chicken. The Tonkatsu broth was excellent, as was the chicken broth. Disappointing that a spicy egg is extra, but maybe at $15 a bowl that's to be expected. Eggs are cheap - it wouldn't run them much in food costs to include spicy egg. OK. Now here's the thing. The good lady wanted a glass of wine with our late lunch and opted for the house white. Our server came back, told us they were out and suggested the Meyer Vineyards Chardonnay. She ended up having two six ounce glasses. When the bill came - the wine was $16 a glass! For 6 ounces! More than both our bowls of ramen!! We were flabbergasted. Part of the issue is that the menus are only QR code accessible, so you have to navigate a series of links to access each menu. And we didn't jump to the wine menu. That's our fault. To the manager's credit she refunded the difference between the $9 house and the $16 Meyer. We're not cheap. And we know it's West Van, but that's one hell of a sticker shock. Caveat emptor buyers. Beware. read more

I have ordered from this restaurant several times, never with any issues. Love their spicy tuna hand rolls, especially with the packaging that allows the seaweed to stay crisp. Unfortunately, the ramen I received yesterday is likely to put me off of this restaurant forever. The ammonia smell coming from the tonkotsu ramen was something else and completely overpowering. I was not able to eat the meal the smell was so disturbing. When I googled ramen smells like ammonia, I discovered that it is apparently a common issue in restaurants that use cheap noodles and have poor handling habits in the kitchen. read more

My boyfriend and i came here because the restaurant just opened up. We split the shrimp gyoza, it was very good. I got the chicken ramen and he got the spicy chicken ramen with the heat level 2. Let's just say it felt like satan entered him. Very spicy but good so if you can handle spice then go for it but just talk to your servers about the spice level that's right for you. Overall the food was delicious, the place was very clean, and the people were very nice. Also the aesthetic was cute as well. I would recommend this place. read more
