Dropped by on a Monday night to place a to-go order. Hostesses couldn't answer any questions about the menu. When I was ready to order, they told me they didn't know how to do that - they clearly had not been trained on the POS. They asked me if I could place the order online instead; I said I would just order at the bar. The bartender was stressed. When I told her I had been directed to the bar to do so, I had clearly placed the final piece of straw on her back. She was so frustrated with the hostesses (something about menus) and she was not receiving support. She yelled at someone else to take my order, and they did. Ambience was awkward silence for about 20 minutes until the bartender came up and asked what I ordered. Turns out my order had been sitting upfront for 10 minutes. I'm not reviewing the food, just my experience. This place did not pass the vibe check. read more

This has been one of our go-to spots for Happy hour or just a quick bite to eat and a really cold beer. Yesterday we were back in WA. meeting and visiting with the kids in the bar for lunch. Worse food and service EVER! We were at a table in the bar that might as well been on an island somewhere. We had to stop wait staff to order drinks and food. Then 30-35 minutes later stopped wait staff to find out where are food was. Come to find out it was sitting under the heat lamp and it was barely warm when they brought it to us. Just took my daughter here for lunch before some appointments, even among all the Covid chaos it was a very relaxing experience. Menus were electronic (no touch). We ordered nachos as our appetizer with our mains being Mac&cheese and pork-tips. Everything came out in a timely manner and tasted great! We searched the entire Lacy/Olympia area for home made mozzarella sticks and only Hop Jacks stepped up to the plate. They were clearly home made, though the bread crumb exterior was very flat. A nice texture but no flavor and it took away from the mozzarella experience. Happy hour price of 8.95, which is the edge of reasonable. Poor ratio or breeding to 'rella. Came back to have dinner with friends on 8/18 . We were seated up stairs this time. Haven't been up there before and it is a nice change to get away of the chitter chatter downstairs. We had the pleasure of having Sofia this time. All I have to say is she was the most helpful amazing young lady. I don't know how you do it but hop jacks you hit out of the park every time.. We have not been back in for a few months and again we had an amazing time . I know I have said this before about Sofia but she is the reason we keep coming back! Her personality and the way she treats us is what you expect when you go out to eat.. Generally speaking they do a good job, we have been ordering takeout fairly often recently and our favorite is the fish n chips, my wife orders Caesar salad and a couple strips of fish always awesome, I Always tip well because I know it's a struggle to survive in that business. Last night I switch to chicken strips and they were Lousy, I know they can do better. I had lunch here for the first time a few weeks ago and overall it seems like a pretty legit place. I was here for a business lunch and it was quite a happening lunch joint. I was able to be seated quickly and while I waited for those that were joining me, it got pretty busy! The atmosphere has vibrant colors, a nice big bar on the left side of the restaurant and a small dining area to the right with booths and tables. The menu has a lot of delicious looking, probably not so good for you, treats. With starters like potato chip nachos, shrimp tempura, and southwest chicken taquitos, it's easy to see this place has a little bit of everything. While they have more than enough delightful choices to make you forget ever caring about your waistline, I was also impressed to see they have nutritional information to help you make informed decisions. Hey, if it's informed carbocide, at least it's responsibly committed! On top of having nutritional info they also have a great allergy list menu. I was able to order gf without a problem. They have a really impressive gf menu full of delicious options including gf buns for burgers and sandwiches. I went with the BLT and was not disappointed. Unacceptable door dash delivery service! Ordered food last night. Delivery time was 30 minutes. 1.5 hrs later, nothing! Then my food was delivered, to the wrong house!! Meanwhile I called the manager of HopsnDrops who just send me to door dash. While on the phone with door dash HGE driver came back, retrieved my cold food from my neighbors porch and was gonna bring it over! Uhmm no! And she didn't wear a mask! I love this place... It's my neighborhood go-to spot but I will say that I believe the quality has gone down recently. I don't know if it is because of the recent plague that we've suffered through or if it's just that it's hard to get good help these days but it's just not as good as it was before. I think some of the service was off and the prices are higher which of course is everywhere but still, it's just not the same place that it was. And I really love this place I hope it can come back and get back to its great former self. read more

Came here for breakfast on Sunday morning. It's nice because they give you a refill on juice and milk, unlike most breakfast places. My wife and I shared a the porkaplusa skillet with a biscuit and we added a side of gravy. There were a lot of the smashed potatoes under the skillet but not as much eggs as you'd like. It still tasted good, though. The sausage gravy had a really good flavor, it was just masked by a pepper taste. It tasted like the cap to the pepper jar popped off when they were seasoning it. The service was just ok. We had to ask for refills, silverware, and napkins. They made us pay electrically with a the QR code on the receipt, which I did not like. Despite all of this, our waitress was nice and did check in a few times. This place's breakfast is just very average. read more

Not a fan of the new name. Service at the bar is still excellent but menu items have changed. Changed so much that the flat iron steak is no longer an option. My son's favorite option! Lost a few customers here with that decision. The three stars is based upon the staff. They deserve five but management, choice of sports options on the TV sets, and other criteria brings them down to three. Give raises to the bar staff. They are excellent. There is no competition here. Hop Jack's is my all time favorite restaurant! The atmosphere of the place is awesome. It's open, has bar and restaurant sides, an upstairs, and plenty of flat screens. The employees here are absolutely fantastic, I have never had a less than awesome experience here. Even when it is packed the service is quick and friendly. There always seems to be a manager checking in on tables and supervising on the floor, which is a nice change of pace compared to a lot of other places. The food speaks for itself, always fresh and hot. Though I think everything here is delicious, I'm partial to Kyle's Damn Good Sandwich (an understatement), and the fries are perfect. I can't say enough about Hop Jack's! I definitely recommend you stop in and try it yourself. read more

Located in Lacey near the intersection of College Street and Yelm Hwy, Hop Jacks is a great place to meet up with friends for lunch or dinner. They have a great appetizer menu, cold craft beer, and excellent burgers. The boneless chicken wings are a great starter, and their fries and homemade potato chips are also great sides. For burgers, I like their Western Burger topped with crispy fried onions and western sauce. For pub food, the Fish & Chips are excellent. read more

This was my 1st time at a Hops and Drops and I must say it lives up to the hype. I am Mrs. Washington America and the Mrs. Washington America contestants put on a fundraiser so of course I came to attend a fundraiser that was being held to support the Victoria Siegel Foundation that helps to fight the opioid epidemic that is plaguing our nation. The food was incredible, the staff was friendly and very attentive and the fun drinks were awesome. It is no surprise that the staff there is so wonderful my husband and I chatted with the manager Matt Eveland and he was so friendly and welcoming. So we went for a happy hour. Had some drinks, beer and a couple appetizers. Wife got the fruit drops. Cute drinks that show up in a ice cone. Lil martini shakers so you get 2 drinks with an order. Beer was ice cold too. Ordered the potato chip nacho with bleu cheese. Great tasting chips, homemade. Wish there was more bleu cheese. Came with a garlic ranch dip. Good salty snack with a beer. Also ordered the pork rib tips. I preferred the pieces that didn't have the small bone. That is just me. I wanted to pop the lil bites in my mouth and not have to work around a tiny little bone. No big deal. I'm picky like that. I also liked the way you pay for the bill. The check came to you with the handy card swipe. No need to wait for the waitress to come back for a bill to sign. This is kind of a kick back chain looking type establishment, with a bar and restauarant sections. Casual and it can get crowded at peak times. I had a lunch large avacado and grilled chicken salad. It was tasty and flavorful, crisp and fresh. I enjoyed the fresh avacado and the southwest type corn and onion mixed in the salad. The accompanying green salad dressing was good, albeit a bit thick and heavy. I used only a bit of it. The chicken was a bit overcooked, but not tough. It also had pita bread that was fresh and puffy, delicious. The one big downside is the noise factor. All of the hard surfaces makes conversation difficult and one thinks of a food court at a shopping mall. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. read more
