Fantastic atmosphere (with some fancy speakers that fill the room with music from corner to corner.) Calamari was the best I've had anywhere in Montana. Only complaint is on price. The absolute cheapest glass of wine here is $9 -- even during happy hour. I lived in Missoula for many years. The two good sushi places there both have dollar sushi nights once a week -- but not so among the 3 good places in Bozeman. The happy hour is only good for 1 of the daily rolls they sell, and the 1 Japanese beer on draught. So if you'd prefer an IPA or anything else local, you're paying full price at happy hour. I'd go back for dinner -- but at $9 for the cheapest wine glass, it will be a very rare treat. read more

The basil slushy palate cleanser. So bright. The six fish taster menu? At $60 you are paying for all these fish to be flown in fresh AND for Jaison's deft cutting and seasoning. I had the pork ramen with bone broth, and it was by far some of the best ramen I've had in Montana ! The restaurant that was here before covid was by far the best sushi in Bozeman (sorry Dave's) but now after going to this new Hooked the food was over priced for what you received I used to be okay with paying a more expensive price for better sushi but this isn't better sushi. Went in to try and fix my sushi craving, but left just wishing I had gone to Dave's like normal. Sushi was well done but not quality fish and the special was subpar. Excellent place to buy seafood. Their freshness and quality is unbeatable. Their fish is so fresh, that they will prepare it sashimi style for you (with fresh ground wasabi root). The fish here is good! Like really really good. I've had sushi at some of the best places in the bigger cities like LA, Orange County and Seattle...this place was easily as good or better. Kinda pricy but high quality fish isn't cheap. You get what you pay for. read more

The sushi is awesome to me. They do their best to offer seating, but it just not a lot of it. The people here are cool and fun to be around. If you're looking to have a good time you will at this place. I had a blast here. They only have a menu on the wall, be careful, as they will offer you all types of food you didn't order, if you take it your bill will be high when you leave. It leaves a bit to be desired if you're drinking and having a good time and you see that your bill is way higher than you expected, maybe it's just me. They do not serve alcohol but you can bring your own. They also sell knives, other packaged meats and fish. It's downtown Bozeman parking is tough. If you're lucky you will get a park on Main Street, if you're not get ready to drive around to find a place for your car. read more

Montana Fish Company is the Gem you hope to find in any mountain town. You are treated like royalty, from your chef and serving staff. You will never be rushed to decide, enjoy, or finish your meal. Expect excellent reccomendations and specials served with warm hospitality. The special I tried most recently was incredible (and also recommended to us by our server) : Pork belly with a sweet potato, onion and garlic purée, served with a miso marinated soft boiled egg and arugula. Absolutely to die for. The best part is, they have something for everyone. I'm an adventurous eater, and I bring my meat-and-potato friends here and they are always impressed by the noodle and meat dishes. I personally always try something new, and look forward to the fresh rolled sushi and a local craft beer. Montana Fish Company has an intimate environment with the local touch I'm always looking for. Delicious! We were visiting from Arizona and had a sushi craving, so we stopped here and were not disappointed. It's always scary to try a new sushi spot, but this was worth the risk We split wontons, calamari, and a seaweed cucumber salad to start. They were all great, but the wontons were amazing. The best thing about the Montana Fish Co. is the selection and quality of their products. This place never ceases to amaze me. I can walk into their shop and be inspired on the spot to become a gourmet chef. First off ... Everything is fresh. This place has an extensive selection of fish; wild salmon, trout, lobsters, fresh crabs, oysters, scallops and shrimp. Plus, they have a great selections of meat and wild game. Secondly ... The staff knows their stuff. They will fillet fish for you and tell you how to cook it. The great part of this is that since I'm terrible in the kitchen, they do the fancy stuff for me. Not what it once was, but still really good. I still remember walking in the back door of this place a few years ago and having one of the best omakase meals of my life. Weird house music going, all the lights up front turned off, and just about a dozen stools at the bar. While it was super expensive, I'd do it again without thought. Initially I loved this restaurant. My girlfriend and I decided to go here for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves; we shared ramen, sushi, even had a couple beers. Atmosphere was lively, food tasted great, and everything was great. We came back a couple months later with similar hopes and expectations, only to be extremely disappointed. The next morning my girlfriend is sick with food poisoning, and later a bacterial infection. Everybody makes mistakes though... right? Well we decided to give it another shot. After about 6 months we headed back with another relative this time, and avoided any chance of bad fish. The ramen tasted great as it always does! However, the customer service I experienced was what finally called it for me. Our waiter didn't seem to care the slightest about us. We simply went in hoping to use a couple birthday gift cards and had to correct the price twice. On top of that our waiter wouldn't give us the light of day, acting as if we we were in the wrong the entire time. So much potential in this place, it's sad. read more

This place would be 5 stars if the portions were bigger and the prices were more affordable. The fish is probably the freshest you are going to find in town, and the ramen was incredible. So far the only place I've found in town that compares with the quality of their ramen has been Bisl. But seriously, $5 for ONE slice of sashimi? We are talking big city prices here. I know that this is a landlocked area and it costs a lot to ship fish and foreign ingredients here, but it is just too much. We ordered ramen, one order of sashimi and pickles and we ended up spending almost $80. Only people from out of state can afford these prices. Sadly, a lot of the people living here now are from out of state and have brought their money with them. If the quality continues to be this good, this restaurant will most likely survive a while in this cutthroat town, simply because of the transplants and vacationers. In other words, don't eat here unless you've got a lot of money to spend. read more

This evening, a saturday, we went to the Montana Fish Company in Bozeman, MT to have dinner. They have a small intimate Sushi bar (8 seats). Chef Paul Naugie worked his magic and produced dish after dish that was so fresh it simply melted in our mouths. We have eaten Sushi in many venues but never have we had a meal like this.
