Justin did a great job walking us through the process; from design to scheduling, financing and inspections, and everything in between. He's been available to answer all questions and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! Hooked on Solar was a great company to work with! read more

Great experience with Justin Orban and Martin Singh. We were referred to Sunpower by a friend who got panels installed earlier this year, and they could not say enough good things about the company, and we're passing off the same message on this review. Justin was super easy to work with to get all the paperwork done and ensure we were making the right choices for our needs both now and a few years into the future. Our install was a bit delayed due to COVID, but Justin and Martin were on top of it, and kept us updated every step of the way. The day-of install was completed professionally and I appreciated the crew only coming into our house / attic once or twice when really needed (due to COVID considerations). The final walk through and system activation crew member was also super nice and easy to work with, and put up our bird protectors in 100 degree, which was super appreciated. Thanks Sunpower! After years of thinking about Solar We finally had SunPower by Hooked on Solar install a system. After talking to several neighbors, I was told to look into a SunPower system. After discussing options with Justin Orban I was convinced. He explained the entire process and answered all of my questions with detailed explanations. The installation crew were very professional and completed the installation in a day. I highly recommend SunPower by Hooked on Solar if you are looking for a great installation with the newest panels and design. read more

Claudette was great. Kept the solar schpeel easy to follow. Showed me the savings and it all made sense. Super low financing was the final appeal. Installers were great. They used their experience to make some on the job changes to the placement of the panels so they work well and look good. Highly recommend Claudette Greene. read more

Please please please avoid them. My $42k system was installed 1 year ago and as of today i have not yet seen the effect on my PGE bill. I have repeatedly tried reaching out but they did not even have the courtesy to reply back to my email as well. In the first place they connected the system to the incorrect meter. Secondly when we found out and informed them they did not even bother to go and check what and why this happened. As of the last few months even in the sunpower app I do not see how much power is being generated. They do not seem to care about their customers. read more

Update: Since my earlier review, the company V.P. reached out and gave our project direct attention. He visited to personally reassure us that our experience mattered to them, and then followed up to make sure that from that point on, our project would proceed as quickly as possible. It was handled the best way it could be at that point, our problems have been resolved, and our system is finished. read more

I have tried several times to get them to call me to review my solar report to see if it's working correctly and producing as it should. No one from SunPower is following up with me which is par for the course as well as Hooked on solar who sold me the solution over 5 years ago. read more

My project is still going on, writing this to record the progress. I started my solar research in May. There are a lot of great companies and hooken on solar is not super outstanding in review. We picked hooken on because they offer reasonable price on a premium brand and as it is an authorized dealer of sunpower, we think we would have some backup if anything happens to the dealer. The sales rep was good at explaining and responsive to our questions and requests. After the first proposal was made, we asked to make a change to some panel location. It was promptly done. After the site survey, we paid the down and waited for work permit application. We waited until early July and no update was received. I pinged the sales rep a couple of days and no response. I called the office and the lady at phone said they would get back to us. No update for another week. Finally, a person called to schedule the installation. I think it probably had nothing to do with my request for . I was assigned a project manager. The project was scheduled to start from 10am-noon and I was told they might come earlier . The team arrived at 12:15pm. They thought their manager had called to inform me of the late arrival. But it didn't happen. That's fine. The team was polite and nice. After they punched a few holes on my roof, I realized that the location was not the one I specified. And actually they was following the old proposal. They had to patch the hole and installed at new location. The installer said he would send a photo of the patch but he forgot. They told me they had to cut down the power for 6 hours to upgrade the electric panel. I was not told of the lengthy shut-down before. It was a weekday and we needed the wifi to WFH, so it was not possible. We prefer to do it over weekend and they said someone would call to schedule. No one has ever called. But the installer showed up at about 10:15 am in the morning on Sat. It took about 6 hours for the work. The lengthy shutdown was painful as our mobile reception was bad. The team took an about 1.5 hour off at around lunch time. I understand everyone needs to eat, but it would be much better if they can schedule the whole work before or after lunch time, they would significantly reduce the hassle. I had to take off before they finished the work. After I got home, I found that all the GFCI power outlets in the kitchen stopped working. That was painful as we could not run any small appliance in the kitchen. I texted/email the project manager. No reply over weekend. I got a response on Monday 6am. The project manager said he was not may assigned manager and forwarded my email to the "new" one. It is Mon 11:20 am and I am still waiting for response from the "new" project manager. Hope they can have this resolved asap. read more

We are very excited to have made the decision to go to solar. Our experience with Claudette Green with Hooked on Solar was fantastic. The installation crew went above and beyond to make sure our system was aesthetically pleasing and operational in a timely manner. Thank you!!! read more

I'm going on 4 months to get my system fixed. Two different techs say I have bad micro inverters. Sun power says Hooked on Solar has the parts since June 1st. Alexis in customer service hasn't returned any of my calls. I can't recommend Hooked on Solar based on my experience. Jordyn, please read the 3rd sentence again. Hooked on Solar has had the micro inverters since June 1. I got this information from Sun Power. read more

We have had nothing but issues with this company. For 2 years now we have been fighting with them to get the solar to actually work. They didn't install it correctly to begin with, then the wiring was an issue. Their monitoring app hardly ever works. Now our system is down and we can't get anyone to pick up a phone when we call their "customer service" line. We waited for almost 2 hours last night and it's was over an hour this morning. We finally talked to someone only to see that they have removed our solar system from our account. So we have been getting no credit for our solar. Run away as fast as you can from this solar company. read more

My sales rep Justin Orban was fantastic to work with. He scheduled a Zoom meeting with me and went over everything. He did a lot of explaining of how the panels work and the Sunpower 25 year warranty for everything including the workmanship for mounting the racks to the roof. Only thing that was a 10 year warranty was the monitoring system. The permitting process took awhile but as soon as the permit was approved, the system was installed within 2 weeks, final inspection 1 week later and PG&E completed the interconnect within 21 days. System is very efficient and generating a lot of power. The monitoring app allows for individual panel monitoring as well since the system uses micro inverters. read more

Ashlee, our Sunpower rep was great. Extremely responsive and took care of all of our needs. I would highly recommend her and Sunpower!

I had an 8kW system installed a few months ago by Hooked on Solar. The system has produced well since it was turned on, and I am very happy that I have a 25 year warranty and a quality system for my home. Special thanks to my sales rep Michael Blase, who was responsive throughout and helped talk me through decisions on the system. I could be totally open and transparent with him, and he helped address any concerns. Jesus of the install crew, and Alfredo on the electrical side also were top notch and listened to my concerns and acted on them. The install crew in particular were extremely courteous and professional. They found broken tiles during install and went out of their way to replace them with good tiles as they moved tiles to install the solar flashing panels. I've not been up there to inspect, but from what they explained to me, my roof is left in better condition than it was before. There were a few hiccups along the way, however I've found that Hooked on Solar have quickly responded to concerns, and ultimately these hiccups (monitoring system only) were resolved and did not affect my solar production. My advice, no matter which company you choose, is to study the design well in advance of the company arriving to do the install, so you are not caught trying to understand it all while they are doing the install. This is a major project. Overall I'd choose Hooked On Solar again as they stand behind their work, and you do end up with a superior system, performance, and warranty. You get what you pay for. read more

After writing my negative Yelp review, the company responded quickly in resolving my situation. They fixed the solar loan problem within a day, the manager called me to make sure I was satisfied, and the solar salesperson Brian Pease helped to expedite my installation. I have mixed feelings about them because their improved service only came after my review. I had reached out many times to them before and did not get the same level of service as my public review. Full disclosure, they also asked me to revise my review. In the end I was satisfied with the end result. Juan's installation crew was excellent. They were transparent about what needed to be done, worked efficiently, kept the site clean, consulted me about aesthetics before making decisions, put the conduit in an inconspicuous place, and painted the conduit to match the house. Michael, the tech guy, who did the inspection was also excellent. He explained everything he was doing, gave me good advice on making sure my system was up and running to my satisfaction before signing off on anything. They got me up and running with PG&E relatively quickly. My situation with the duplex was slightly unique, which is why they ran into issues. I still think they could have been more transparent and expeditious in working with me. Also, I wish I didn't have to write a negative Yelp review to get quality service, but in the end they delivered. read more

Michael Blase from Hooked on Solar has been great support to us guiding us from planning, design, all the way to follow-up post installation. When I looked into solar for my home, Hooked on Solar came up as one of the best local installers in a crowded field of companies looking to get my business. After requesting info from them through SunPower, I was contacted by Michael Blase. Michael spent a considerable amount of time with me getting a thorough understanding of my current and future electrical needs. He provided several proposed alternatives and answered all of my questions. I looked at 3 other potential installers and chose Hooke on Solar for their reputation, the SunPower product offering and Because of the experience I had with Michael. Hooked on Solar has delivered the system expertly and has handled all of the permitting and rebate applications. Overall, I cannot imagine the project going any better than it has. read more

Amazing experience from start to finish! Getting a quote was easy and Ashlee walked me through everything I needed to know! Once our design was ready, setting up install was a breeze and the installers were amazing! The monitoring system gives a ton of great info and our solar is kicking butt! Hey everyone! If you are considering going Solar, consider SunPower by Hooked on Solar. They do have the best panel out there and they were great from the beginning of negotiations to activation! Lisa House was my rep. She is friendly, personable and professional. She stayed on top of it all the way through, getting me answers and checking back with me to insure I was satisfied with the process. I was told not to expect an install until after the first of 2020 as the rainy season could delay the process as well as PG&Es outages. I was pleasantly surprised that the process proceeded like clockwork! The different stages progressed quickly and as promised with each contact that made appointments and installation. Once my system was installed, I was activated and notified I was on line within seven days! I say, do your research. You will find they have the best product out there and for me, the best price. As with ALL companies things can change, but I say you will find a stellar product Hooked on Solar offers. I do not believe That will change! I purchased my system but they also have other options. Mention my name when contacting them and we can both receive incentives, if you do choose to go with them. I couldn't have asked for a smoother or better experience! Thank you Hooked on Solar Team!! read more

I bought a 10kW system from these guys and I am very sorry I chose them. Salesman was great. Installation was sloppy and the wiring was 'dangerous' according to the Oakland City inspector who came out on a different project. When I got them to send an electrician out to correct the problem, he wired it wrong and now half the system does not work. I did not find out for 2 weeks. Now I am finding out just how bad the support is. They told me I would have to wait 24 hours after a 'reset' before they could schedule a site visit. It is clear the electrician broke the system but that is just their policy, and they would not make an exception. Now, after the 24- hour period, they are telling me it will take another 3-5 business days until they will schedule the repair. Longest days of the year right now and I will be at half production for a month! I doubt any of the electricians are licensed at Hooked on Solar. They do not seem to know the building codes. read more

Update: My concerns were addressed. I don't like writing negative reviews to get things addressed, because I believe that we are all professionals and should jointly be able to resolve issues. There are about three "companies/teams" you work with - SunPower (product), the Solar Billing Review Team (Sales), and Hooked on Solar (install). Product SunPower - excellent. Sleek modern design, looks very nice on roof. Solar Billing Review Team - Jon. Knew the SunPower product and was able to answer all of our questions. He was the first and last point of contact, was a constant source of helpfulness and superb customer service throughout the entire process. Hooked On Solar - this team needs restructuring/guidance. They schedule things but don't explain the process or what is happening. Customer exposure is mainly with this company because you have the customer service reps on the phone, the electricians, the installers, and the tech who reviews the app with the customer meets with the County/City for final inspection. My husband and I paid a lot of money (at least a new car) for our panels. I expect the customer service experience to be ironed out and superior when you are dealing with that type of money, and until I wrote my review the customer service by the Hooked On Solar office was lacking. ------------------------------------- I essentially became the project manager for getting the work installed, which is ridiculous because that is what you are paying Hooked on Solar to do. The initial Hooked on Solar representative Pam that called me for scheduling never knew what she was talking about and would mix me up with other customers. Unfortunately the work got rescheduled twice, however the reschedule dates both times were a month later, from an initial October install date, which then got pushed to mid November, and finally mid December. The scheduling should be prioritized differently, for example when we had a new roof installed, it was a first in line scenario, and we were notified that if there was a delay with a previous client (i.e. weather, inspections, etc) that it would then delay our start date respectively. When I would try to clarify with Pam what was occurring for the dates that work was scheduled this would mix her up. It was very frustrating when the electricians that came out to do the electric panel upgrade were not accompanied by the solar install team. It was more frustrating when I called the customer service line to inquire about the panel install, and they said "oh yes that needs to be scheduled." My mind was blown, because if I had not called - when would it had been scheduled? The electricians on staff were all professional, however some of the installers were not, and smoked on site. This was annoying because I had to leave my garage open for the electricians to do their install, and then my garage smelled like cigarette smoke. Damage occurred when the electric panel was upgraded - stucco around the panel, as well as drywall in the house. I was assured by both the electricians and the Hooked on Solar Customer Service Center that a repair person would come and address this when the solar panels were installed on the roof, and then that got moved to the next day when the tech would come out to meet with the County, which then never occurred. I'm 9 months pregnant so I don't have the flexibility with time anymore. While I understand that damage can happen, the lack of responsiveness in regards to when this was going to be fixed was ridiculous. The drywall damage caused the humidity in our house to significantly increase so we had to rent a dehumidifier (something we weren't planning on doing). I was initially patient with the expected fix date (one week from damage date - it was to coincide with the install of the panels), however when the repair person didn't show up, and when I called the customer service line and they reported back that it wasn't a confirmed date, but rather a request - I asked why that wasn't relayed to me?! One other thing that no one bother to tell me until the day of was the County inspector would need to come into my home to check my smoke detectors and carbon monoxide, or that the inspector could fail us because the stucco had not been repaired it frustrated me, because this was a risk that the company took with my time. I have only had the forced flexibility to work with Hooked on Solar because my maternity leave started (although I do have multiple doctors appointments that I have had to reschedule/work around), if I was still working full time, the amount of time I would have had to take off would have been unacceptable. Overall, the main office is failing and puts their on site staff in an awkward position, because no one is running the show and this is extremely frustrating as the customer. Also, no one is willing to go beyond their job scope, and tries to pass you off to the next person without providing you any contact information. read more

It was a pleasure working with Ashlee Hahn. She is knowledgeable and so fun, she made the process smooth! Thank you Ashlee!

I took some time researching and speaking with multiple providers. While other salespeople were very pushy, Justin Orban from Sunpower was different. He was patient with me, highly professional, and knew and had confidence in his product, which was why I ended up going with him. Once I was signed up I was nervous about the commitment, and also whether the project would complete before December 31st, in order to get the higher rebate. However everything from that point went extremely well. The design team were very communicative and professional, and the installation team were just superb. They worked their butts off, in the rain, to get my job done, even returning on a Sunday to complete residual work. Some small touches, like painting the pipes to match the house so that you couldn't see them, were not expected and highly appreciated. At every step, I had email project updates keeping me informed of progress and next steps. In total from signing up, to having the panels turned on, the project went very quickly and was completed with plenty of time to spare. The app is great, giving me a easy-to-read picture of how much energy is used and produced by my panels. Note the app takes a couple of days to load the data (not sure why) but once it's loaded it's great. I would highly recommend Justin and the team at SunPower. read more

Justin made the entire process very simple and easy. He was always available for questions as I was going through the install and activation process. The Installers were absolutely fantastic. Sorry SunPower...or Hooked on Solar, but I have not had good results with your system. My system was installed 3 years ago. The system has not performed to the guaranteed rate for more than 2 years, with the exception of three months during a more than 2 year period. They tell you their product is superior in comparison to other companies, but I found that is not true. Other companies offer the same programs and same output guarantees; however, the cost is substantially less, weather your on a lease or purchase the system. My fault for only looking at a couple companies before choosing SunPower/ Hooked on Solar. They company has issues with the micro-inverters, which they are aware of and they will not do anything until it's brought to their attention, then they it will take a minimum of 60 days to get a replacement part. They will admit they are having "growing pains". In the meantime, your true-up costs with the energy provider is accumulating and you will pay more. Customer service is completely dysfunctional. You will need to chase resolve through other channels if you can. SunPower / Hooked on Solar is how they present themselves, but when you have an issue, SunPower states it's a Hooked on Solar issue and when you contact them, they say it's a SunPower issue. It's a great game of "pass the buck". Hold on to your seats, they are good at the game. Bottom line: My average cost for electricity since getting the system is $6 dollars higher than prior to getting the system because of the faulty issues with their product. They say they monitor and guarantee production of their system...not even close to the truth. I would not recommend this company to anyone, In fact I would discourage them from using SunPower /Hooked on solar. Don't trust them! read more

Hooked on Solar - Solar Installation Near Me - Rocklin, California

Hooked on Solar installed my system 2+ years ago. On Aug. 5 my system went offline and stopped producing. After 3 home visits by Hooked on Solar and one visit by SunPower over the next 30 days they still couldn't determine the problem. Finally got Roger, VP at Hooked on Solar involved and he promised to get things done and call me daily with progress. Roger helped determine that the wiring in my attic needed to be replaced. He sent a technician the next day to replace the wiring and test the system. Everything was working and back online. Thank you Roger! read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company, the people they employee and the products they offer. They came recommended to me from a friend, but I did my own research, getting bids with two other solar companies, and easily concluded that Hooked on Solar was the best for my money. Their guarantees, their technology, their customer service and their attention to detail gave me great peace of mind. Joel, my consultant, was helpful all the way through the process. He explained step-by-step what I needed to expect. He was very informative on refunds offered, on the guarantees of his company and the technology of the products they install. He is quick to answer or return my calls and always has an answer for me. Knowing Joel gives me confidence in my investment for my home and it's long-term benefit. The instillation team was experienced, quick and neat. They were early for the appointment and finished early as well. Their work was very professional. All the follow-up appointments to get the system up and running ran well also. I am able to install a battery pack on my system a year after initial installation of the solar panels. This is very helpful in the event of a Public Safety Power Shutoff in my area. Here again, Joel and Beth have helped me maximize rebates offered. Brad and Jeff were the techs that came to the house to start the design of adding the battery pack and made understanding the process very easy. They were personable, professional and efficient. I truly enjoy working with this company. read more

My husband and I just contracted with SunPower to install 24 solar panels and 2 Tesla power walls. We selected them based on recommendations and experiences posted by neighbors on our Nextdoor app. Michael Blase, our sales rep, met with us, listened to our concerns and questions, and came up with a plan that would significantly lower our PG&E bill while providing back-up power during outages. In fact, he introduced us to a program that we had no idea of that helped us qualify for incentives for the Tesla power walls. Michael and the production crews and contacts were professional, competent and responsive. I highly recommend them -- I don't have time to babysit contractors and for this type of work and investment, I expect alot. I feel like we got just that. read more

This company is absolutely aggressive I worked with Lisa. And she would harass and call, email, and text me non stop. She would then email me saying "wow your really busy". Yes I am very busy with kids. She then quoted my husband and I 67,000.00 for solar. This company is a joke, and their sales employees really need to stop being so aggressive towards the customers. I will definitely let the neighbors in my community know not to work with company at all. Due to privacy concerns I will not show all the texts messages this sales lady texted me but trust me it was over 30 messages, and several emails of harassment. Don't waste your time please! Not worth it! read more

Hooked on Solar has really been a fantastic experience from start to finish. I got quotes from 3 different companies, but when it came down to it, I wanted the best panel on the planet, so I went with Hooked on Solar since they install SunPower products. Right away Tom was able to schedule an appointment to see me within a couple of days. Which started with a gift card to a local restaurant just for visiting the sales center. They were able to use a referral from my co-worker that was still in the middle of the process, so we both got a discount, and there was a year end rebate that I qualified for. Plus there still is a federal tax credit for 2020 that I'll qualify for. While Hooked on Solar was a little more expensive then the other two brands I still went with them because of Sunpower. I don't regret my decision even a little, first of all I hit the perfect storm and my system was installed crazy fast. Second, my system has been running and producing for almost 2 months, I had 14 panels from another company, the 18 new panels I got from Hooked on Solar so far are performing great. I could not be more pleased read more

I initially thought they were an honest company that I was dealing with. They came to my house and talked to me about solar and how beneficial it was and I will say the panels are great. So the garage is where they wanted to install the panels but I was on the fence about it because I know I was going to have to reroof it in a couple years but they said don't worry if you reproof the garage in the next five years we will remove the solar panels and reinstall them at no charge. Well that was a lie they deny they said anything of the sort but come to find out i am not the only one in my community that they lied to hoping that there will be a class action lawsuit soon. So buyer beware they are a very dishonest company. FYI they want me to pay them 4500.00 for the removal and reinstall. So very disappointed companies get away with this stuff. read more

The entire process with Hooked on Solar was a pleasure. From the very start, our Sales Rep explained the entire process and guided us every step of the way. After last year's fires and PSPS outages, I decided to step up my search and get the Solar Panels I'd been thinking about and a battery backup. I did a whole bunch of internet research and met with reps from 3 companies including Brian Pease from Hooked on Solar, a Sunpower reseller/installer. The hardest part was getting like-for-like quotes as they all offer something a bit different. Brian was the 2nd person who visited and at that point, I figured that they were probably the best option for me. We agreed on terms and got the process started. It worked exactly as Brian had laid out. Sadly I started just a hair too late to get a 2019 installation and the larger rebate but my panels went in Late January and the Tesla Power wall a couple of weeks later. Sadly there was an issue with the control board on the Powerwall, but the H-o-S team kept plugging away until they got a new one from Tesla and I was fully online. The final bonus has just come. The H-o-S team did all the paperwork to get me a rebate for using the Powerwall. That went onto a waitlist while the pot of state money was empty. It's just been refilled with the new fiscal year and the H-o-S team pushed the updates through smoothly and quickly and I'm expecting a large check back. read more
