The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable. They have an outstanding selection of delicious cheese. I wasn't pressured into buying certain amounts and was even offered a taste before selecting cheese. We went with a Smokey blue cheese from Oregon and an amazing Gouda from the Netherlands. We impulsively added some pesto. Later that afternoon, we enjoyed both cheeses and the beet hummus with the gluten free crackers. A 1/4 pound of each cheese was more than enough for a great afternoon snack!
