Ridgefield is a great town and this is an awesome cheese shop and speciality store. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and picked up some truffle cheese and frozen Mac and cheese from the freezer section. The Mac and cheese was incredible when I got home and baked it, and the truffle cheese recommendation from the employees was great. They sell cheese, crackers, wine, and other specialty products. Everyone was nice and helpful, and I'm looking forward to going back to this store! read more

The best cheese shop in town with a very knowledgeable owner. She had some hard to find varieties and greatly appreciated her assistance in finding a very similar substitute for one of the ones she didn't carry. Reasonable prices and great attention to detail in wrapping and labeling my purchase. Through the next door is the wine shop, and as in the cheese side of 109, the owner was very knowledgeable with hard to find varietals and vineyards. read more

I can only hope this is what grilled cheese in heaven tastes like. Honestly, adding the tomato and roasted red pepper to their sandwich might change your life. This is a fanatic little shop in Ridgefield that you should visit soon, if not today. They have a large selection of cheese, olives and everything else you might need to host a nice dinner party or cook a simple meal for two. The staff is great and very friendly. Also, from what I was told, up the staircase is where they have classes. I can't say enough good things about how happy I was that I heard about this place on the radio today. Great for foodies or snacks for a night in. This shop is small but what they do have is delicious and thoughtfully hand chosen. The shop is owned by Monica, the same woman that owns Cellar XV wine across the street. She did a great job bringing in a hip west coast foodie vibe into a small shop. The staff is friendly, casual, knowledgeable and more than willing to give samples and help you select the perfect cheese for a meal or gift. Crackers and small gifts are also sold in the shop. A higher end wine cellar will be opening in the shop soon as well. read more

Thanks Bernard for the wonderful sausages, truly a treat and much easier than booking a table at the restaurant! The cheese selection is moderately diverse, well selected, and fits the bill for the quick fix in terms of a picnic or evening of nice wine and cheese. There are other household items for sale and frozen quality foodie-type goods but the cheese is likely the best reason to go there. I'd put this in the top 5 options for quality cheese in Fairfield County, not in the top 3 but in the top 5 for sure. read more

I wanted to review 109 Cheese and Wine as a novice cheese person. For some reason I've been really craving cheeses lately and I wanted to try things beyond what's available in the supermarket case. So I decided that I'd go to the cheese store and basically say "HOOK ME UP!" And boy did they! We decided to try one soft, one semi soft and one hard cheese. We discussed what I might like (oh and I was fasting so I couldn't taste things which I guess usually you can do to help). Anyway, OMG so delicious! Fantastic service and food- I ordered several soups, quiches, and pastas for a family member who couldn't cook due to some medical issues. Monica went out of her way to get in touch with the recipient directly to make sure the food was dropped off at their convenience. This place offers the two main staples of a Ridgefield kitchen :) The shop itself is charming, and they have quite a lovely selection of foods beyond cheese. I just want to point out they they do have a small sandwich menu, including some fantastic grilled cheeses. The mushroom grilled cheese, when available, is absolutely worth the wait!
