** Bait & Switch Pricing - Greedy out of touch owner **…read more Stopped in with my two teenage daughters for a quick snack after school. One ordered a juice, one ordered a smoothie. After taking the order, the staff said they couldn't make the juice. Fine; we agreed to one smoothie split into two cups. Instead, they overfilled two cups. At the register, the owner tried to charge me for two smoothies (nearly $12 each). I explained we only ordered one smoothie to be divided. He looked at the cups and said they were full, so I had to pay for two. That's not how ordering works. If he had half a clue, he would've investigated further instead of immediately trying to squeeze the customer. He didn't. He then took one smoothie away from my daughter, said he'd divide the other, went into the back, came out with an empty cup, handed it to me, and told me to divide it myself. After the bait-and-switch and then adding insult to injury, I finally broke down and called him an M.F.; though frankly, that's too generous he is really just a low-life POS. He responded by calling me a cheapskate and telling me to get out (in front of my kids). For the record, both daughters also bought other items in this already overpriced store. This wasn't about money. It was about refusing to be taken advantage of. Maybe this kind of conduct flies somewhere wherever he is from, but it's not how business is done in the U.S. or in Westport. And last I checked, the basic rule still applies: the customer is always right, especially when the facts are this clear. Plenty of better options nearby (GG & Joes has better smoothies!). We won't be back.

To begin, I was at the hot bar, waiting for an extended period of time, which another customer even noted, and when the woman came from behind the counter, she proceeded to touch her nose as well as the interior of the food dish, which was concerning. I actually declined taking the food. The bathroom - I'll just leave that to your imagination, but it was pretty gross Overall, the store seems dirtier, and the managers are less friendly than the gentleman who used to be there. The high school kid at the checkout was rude and had an attitude, and the kid packing the groceries threw my items in like it was a bag of Legos. This was really upsetting. So while there are some essentials when a quick pick up is needed, given the price of the prepared foods in the overall state of things in the market, going with three out of five stars, which is pretty generous at this time

Just had to listen to three employees discuss how being gay is a sin and people need to read the Bible and understand being gay goes against God. They were saying this right in front of me in the seltzer aisle. I wasn't eavesdropping on a secret conversation. As a gay person all I can say is WTF? This isn't the first time something like this has happened either. A few weeks ago as I was paying for groceries the cashier in the aisle next to mine was interrogating the bagger in my aisle about his brother's sexuality. Not a conversation you have with customers around. I literally just moved back up north after living in the south for a decade. Never had this happen in a Publix. I'll gladly drive the extra ten minutes to Ridgefield going forward. The employees at Stop & Shop seem to be more professional.

I originally pooh-poohed the place going solely by the Googly pics but OMG so glad Steve chose this place! Many plants and beautiful irises outside. BUT...I stepped INSIDE the store and the first thing I noticed was the bakery section. Okay, so only one item was gluten free (local bakery offerings) but they were lavender meringues and they were only $1 each! A super unique treat for me! Steve found the freezer with the meat. YOU MUST BUY THE MEAT! Buy ALL the BACONS! We fried up the Irish bacon today (had to find out how to cook it just right) and it was soooo good. Very different and much much much better than any store bought bacon. We also purchased Canadian bacon to try later this week. The tomatos were the first of the season. I cut one up for a tomato, spinach and brie omelette and the tomato flavor stood out. Very very good flavor! I would love (and hope to) return for produce this summer...and for eggs. Some of the items were a bit pricey for us (bacon was a steal for the quality, though) like the bourbon maple syrup and the duck pastrami however these are top notch products I have not seen anywhere else and honestly, the syrup is on my shopping list now if I do ever get back to Holbrook Farm. We also bought local coffee but haven't ground the beans yet. BTW the proprietress was very kind and patient and lovely. Please visit!

There are a lot of additional vendors this year that make the Wilton Farmers Market a one stop shop. Our favorite vendors are Veronica's Garden for no-pesticide fruits and veggies, Saint x Specialty Food for delicious bread, pesto, and fresh mozzarella, Ideal Fish for fresh fish and yummy spices, and The Hickories for currants, strawberries, tomatoes, etc. We also like Ambler Farm for a larger variety of different fruits and veggies. For prepared food, Jeff's BBQ is amazing! We've even had Jeff cater an event for us in the past. I love their Memphis ribs and mac and cheese, but everything they offer is delicious! While Prospector Theater isn't always there, when they are, I always get a few bags of their delicious and unique popcorn. You can also get a lobster roll and raw shellfish from Community Shellfish. Once, I saw the Cousins Maine food truck serving various lobster rolls and similar products. I never leave without some Bubble & Brew passionfruit peach bubble tea. It's different than bubble tea shops like Whale Tea, but it's unique and delicious. There are a lot of other vendors I haven't mentioned that sell meat, eggs, bread, dumplings, cookies, coffee, honey, handmade jewelry, lifestyle products, knick knacks, eco-friendly products, art, cutlery, flowers, clothing, cutting boards, and so much more. In comparison to the Westport Farmers Market, I prefer the location of the Wilton one, because of how scenic and beautiful it is. The lines also tend to be longer in Westport, so Wilton is more enjoyable for me. The only thing I wish Wilton had was Seacoast Mushrooms. The Wilton Farmers Market is definitely worthy of a visit on Wednesdays from 12-5pm.

I practically lived at the…read moreIthaca Wegmans during my undergrad years in upstate NY, so seeing one pop up right here in Norwalk is a total game-changer. The first thing you notice is the vibe--it feels more like an open-air market than a standard grocery store. It's huge, incredibly well-lit, and just feels "clean." Honestly, it's a breath of fresh air compared to some of the other spots around here that are starting to look a bit worn down. You can tell they actually maintain and scrub the place daily. The selection is honestly overwhelming in the best way possible. Their prepared food section is elite--I'm talking a full sushi bar, custom pizzas, a hot bar, and a deli that actually makes a decent sandwich. Plus, there's a whole second floor with tables and chairs if you want to hang out and eat there. A few things that make this my new go-to: * The Price: I was shocked at how competitive they are. They're giving Costco a run for their money on a lot of items, and they're definitely cheaper than the other local chains. * The Location: It's right across from Costco, Target, and Home Depot. I can get my entire weekend "to-do" list done without driving to different places. * The Parking: Huge private lot with two floors, so I've never had a stressful time finding a spot. * The Staff: Everyone is genuinely friendly. It makes sense, though--Wegmans is famous for actually paying their people well and taking care of them, and you can really feel that reflected in the service. The produce and meat are as fresh as it gets, but the overall experience is what sells it. Sorry, Stew Leonard's, but you've officially got some serious competition. 5 stars, easily.
