I wish I could provide a five star review, however, recent visits have been disappointing and quality seems to be fading in terms of customer service and cleanliness. To begin, I was at the hot bar, waiting for an extended period of time, which another customer even noted, and when the woman came from behind the counter, she proceeded to touch her nose as well as the interior of the food dish, which was concerning. I actually declined taking the food. The bathroom - I'll just leave that to your imagination, but it was pretty gross Overall, the store seems dirtier, and the managers are less friendly than the gentleman who used to be there. The high school kid at the checkout was rude and had an attitude, and the kid packing the groceries threw my items in like it was a bag of Legos. This was really upsetting. So while there are some essentials when a quick pick up is needed, given the price of the prepared foods in the overall state of things in the market, going with three out of five stars, which is pretty generous at this time read more

Just got home and had to write this. I won't ever step foot in a Caraluzzi's again. Just had to listen to three employees discuss how being gay is a sin and people need to read the Bible and understand being gay goes against God. They were saying this right in front of me in the seltzer aisle. I wasn't eavesdropping on a secret conversation. As a gay person all I can say is WTF? This isn't the first time something like this has happened either. A few weeks ago as I was paying for groceries the cashier in the aisle next to mine was interrogating the bagger in my aisle about his brother's sexuality. Not a conversation you have with customers around. I literally just moved back up north after living in the south for a decade. Never had this happen in a Publix. I'll gladly drive the extra ten minutes to Ridgefield going forward. The employees at Stop & Shop seem to be more professional. read more

It is so nice to shop in a store that is not cavernous! Caraluzzi is just the right size, they have everything but it's not overload. Their prices are good, usually less than the bigger stores. Produce is fresh, great cheese selection, good sushi bar...lots of good prepared foods, good bakery, fish and meat counters. It's a true neighborhood market which is rare in this day and age! Checkout personnel are super and baggers very good. All in all, great service. I drive 30 minutes away to shop there at least once a week! read more

Certainly not the closest grocery store near us, but definitely the best when considering all factors. People are always extremely nice. Have never run into rude or unhelpful individual there. Their food quality of product, the butcher, their seafood department, deli department or 9/10 on my scale and we're pretty strict. Pastries and bread department could be considered 7/10. I recently described Caraluzzi's to a friend as a mix between Whole Foods, Stew Leonard's and Stop and Shop. The product range has your typical grocery store finds but also a wide selection of organic and natural brands I can usually only find at WF or online. The prices are on par with Stop and Shop - which is rare for a family grocer. The place really stands out with it's Pure poultry and meat line. Grass fed and grass finished beef, high quality pork and chicken. The prices are the lowest I've seen for this quality! You can get an 8 piece cut-up chicken for $1.99/lb and boneless chicken breast for $3.99/lb. They also have amazing weekly BOGO deals on products that never go on sale other places. The bakery and prepared foods are also better than Whole Foods. The employees are incredibly nice. Especially if you get a high school kid. I've never met nicer kids! UPDATE: There is something definitely odd going on at Carluzzi's. They have a loyalty program. Requires a card. But you can't get a card (something isn't working). So they encourage you to use your phone number. Ok that works. Until today... At checkout, I ask, are you still doing loyalty by looking up phone numbers. Cashier says Yes. I provided my number. When the final bill came, I asked about applying my current savings. The cashier informed me that bc she looked up my account via phone she couldn't give me the savings I earned, it's store policy. I asked when did the policy start bc that wasn't the case two days ago. She said the manager told her. When I said it makes no sense bc we don't have cards she again informed me that this is policy. I asked to speak with the manager and she said no. I asked to speak with anyone who could help and she just looked at me. The. Another cashier came over and said she would help, that it wasn't policy. Honestly what is going on? I think Carluzzi's is the best grocery store in the area. More selection and not as pricey as Village Market. And the prepared foods are just as good if not better. Significantly better produce that Stop and Shop, much better prepared foods, lots of unique specialties. It has a bit of an adventure feel like Stew Leonard's when you walk in. But then it is down to business and you can get your shopping done efficiently. Also, it is brighter than Stews; which I like! The butcher is so helpful; they are great with special orders. My husband and I have been doing most of our grocery shopping at Caraluzzi's since we've moved to Wilton over a year ago. Although Village Market and Stop & Shop are closer, we prefer Caraluzzi's. We never get prepared food, so I can't comment on that. I really like the freshness and quality of the meat. The fresh produce can be hit or miss depending on the day of the week, but we shop based on what looks fresh. I find the produce and meat quality in Stop & Shop to be subpar, so we only shop there for pre-packaged goods. Village Market is good, but more expensive. The main reason why I like Caraluzzi's is their circular. My weekly meal plan is based on what's on sale that week - they always have a lot of great options and that makes meal planning less overwhelming. read more

I think this is the best supermarket in Wilton because it's big, updated, clean, well-stocked, and they carry a lot of imported items. The staff there is helpful, friendly & fast. Produce, seafood & meat are fresh. The bakery has a variety of delicious cookies, cakes, pastries and pies. If you don't feel like cooking, they have same-day prepared hot & cold food. My husband and I had to travel past this store every day for several weeks and I really wanted to stop in to check it out. Our first visit on 5/16/2019 we had purchased some fruit and walked around a little bit to check things out and I had noticed the specialty cupcakes in the bakery. I wanted to bring some home to bring to my office but didn't get any on that visit. We stopped again on 5/21/2019 just so I could pick some up. The price was $2.99 each or 4 for $10 so I asked for 5. The girl behind the counter was totally disinterested in me being there and didn't greet me or approach me when I was at the counter. I had to ask her if she could help me so she came over and had a look of "I hate my job" on her face. She boxed up the 4 cupcakes and put the extra one in a container and put a price sticker for the amount of $14.95 She didn't say thank you, have a nice evening, nothing. I started to walk away and realized the price was wrong so I let her know and she actually said to me, "you have to buy 4 to get them for $10.00". My head is still buzzing over that one. So I handed her back the sticker and told her to print one out for $10 and one for $2.99. The look on her face told me she really was being inconvenienced by doing this for me but she did it anyway. I really wish I was embellishing this story, but it's the honest, cross my heart, hope to die truth. So after this I didn't want to bother with anything else and went to check out. Got the same kind of blank face stare from the blonde cashier. No greeting or anything. I'm guessing someone they liked got fired or something because I see the store gets some pretty good reviews. Now, back to the cupcakes. When I got home, my daughter wanted to have one so I told her just one and the rest was for my office. We cut one in half and I was beyond disappointed. The icing was whipped cream and it had to have been in the case for a couple of days. It was kind of rubbery and the taste was old. So buyer beware....DON'T BUY THE CUPCAKES!!!! First of all, how can you review a GROCERY store on whether its open carry or not? Stick to groceries!!! Its a hike for me but I go there mostly for fresh veggies and fruits, their selection is awesome. Cant find kohlrabi anywhere else except there, beautiful display of all kinds of exotic and domestic vegetables and herbs, clean, fresh. Nice seafood selection, caviar choices etc. Baked goods are ok, dessert and cake selection is really large and they have a huge deli section with variety of ready made dinners and desserts. They have an assortment of goods that you dont find elsewhere. What I do not like is how overpriced some items are. Kate's organic butter is 3.19 at Stop&Shop while Carluzzi charges 4.79. Very limited selection and quite honestly their buyer is very weak in several areas. Fruit is OK, it is pricey but as others pointed out, we pay for the convenience. Organic/healthy section is very limited and stocked with very poor choices (i.e. out of touch with what's in demand). The cheese selection is extremely odd and I simply gave up on that since they always have the same lousy stuff. Worst of all, while I appreciate the fact that they give teens a job at the registers, PLEASE teach them how to bag.... bread mangled, cakes sideways in a bag???? Flower dept is hit or miss, I usually ask them to combine 4-5 bunches and only one girl knows what she is doing, the others simply throw everything together.... the list goes on... Same for the seafood dept, the nice guy with the dark beard is great but the young kid has NO clue on how to cut halibut (at $24.99/lb) read more

Tons of dessert items to chose from too. The meat and seafood department were both fresh and appealing. They carry a nice selection of hard to find oils and spices. Caraluzzi's Market is a medium sized grocery store with excellent service and low prices. They have a very good selection of produce, meats and fish and prepared foods(although I am not a fan of the latter), frozen foods and specialty items. They also have great seasonal garden items and indoor plants at amazing prices. They have Alvarado St Breads, other organic breads, as well as frozen gluten free products. The only reason I don't shop there more often is that they don't offer a lot of local produce and they don't have a good selection of grass fed meats. Otherwise they are a really great store. I love that they have the little shopping carts for my two year old. Makes shopping with a little one a lot easier. read more

This is a beautiful grocery store with lots of unique choices, but the people are so rude that I'll never be going back. I said hi to the cashier, a woman in her 50s I would say, and she scowled at me and didn't say a word. I only had 2 items so it was a quick checkout. I said something about how excited I was to find the product in the store since many don't stock it, and she looked at me blankly. No response. She didn't offer me a bag, and shoved a receipt at me. She looked at me and down at the products and back at me as if to say, pick them up and go. No "thanks for shopping" or "have a good day." No acknowledgement that I was a customer. There was no one behind me, so it's not like she was in a rush to "help" the next customer. She was unhelpful and honestly quite rude. I was very disappointed with the service. Maybe she was having a bad day, and I get that, but she was inconsiderate and downright rude. Definitely a damper on my Friday. read more

My favorite grocery store! We recently moved from Ridgefield to Redding and decided to forego Stop & Shop one week to try the local market - and are we glad we did! Carluzzi's far exceeds the chain markets with its personal touches and quality foods. Perhaps what I enjoy most about this store are their store-made goodies. I love their homemade chicken sausage with provolone and spinach, fresh pasta, gourmet cream cheeses and the abundance of local finds they feature. Everything I've had from their bakery is top-notch and the service in every department has been excellent - and not hard to come by. I even find the prices cheaper on everything from lunch meats to milk. I have yet to come home with rotten produce or failed to find something I was searching for, unlike S&S. I'm definitely a Carluzzi's fan! read more

Right when you walk in the store there is someone standing right there asking if you want them to wipe down the cart which is nice but the 6 foot rule seems not to apply here. Baggers and check out people are not maintaining enough social distancing they all congregate together at the from of the store and come up to you to try to help you bag groceries and stand and talk to each other and are using check out counters right next each other. Clearly the management doesn't understand the 6 foot social distancing rule. I really hope they read this and address these issues. read more

The soup is delicious during lunch hours, their bakery is absolutely delicious as well. I find their meat to be of much better quality then surrounding markets. They are very fair and reasonably priced. Very convenient from where I live. Their selection, especially in the natural and organic sections, is limited and the prices could be better, but it is smaller grocery store compared to the super-mega-ginormous grocery stores around and it does remind me of the supermarkets from when I was a kid. They are great for doing quick fill-ins, but unfortunately, their prices and selections can usually be beaten elsewhere. read more
