Best deal around here. Ancona is a rip off and doesn't have as much variety. People are nicer here too.

Cute little farm. Love their homemade sourdough bread! Price is reasonable for the qualityread more

We were hoping to hit up a farmer's market on our trip to Bethel on Memorial Day weekend but could…read morenot find one in the area on Sunday, so we looked up some "farm stands" and Holbrook Farm popped up on our search. I originally pooh-poohed the place going solely by the Googly pics but OMG so glad Steve chose this place! Many plants and beautiful irises outside. BUT...I stepped INSIDE the store and the first thing I noticed was the bakery section. Okay, so only one item was gluten free (local bakery offerings) but they were lavender meringues and they were only $1 each! A super unique treat for me! Steve found the freezer with the meat. YOU MUST BUY THE MEAT! Buy ALL the BACONS! We fried up the Irish bacon today (had to find out how to cook it just right) and it was soooo good. Very different and much much much better than any store bought bacon. We also purchased Canadian bacon to try later this week. The tomatos were the first of the season. I cut one up for a tomato, spinach and brie omelette and the tomato flavor stood out. Very very good flavor! I would love (and hope to) return for produce this summer...and for eggs. Some of the items were a bit pricey for us (bacon was a steal for the quality, though) like the bourbon maple syrup and the duck pastrami however these are top notch products I have not seen anywhere else and honestly, the syrup is on my shopping list now if I do ever get back to Holbrook Farm. We also bought local coffee but haven't ground the beans yet. BTW the proprietress was very kind and patient and lovely. Please visit!

My lab wanted to go apple picking and we ended up choosing this orchard. I believe there were…read moreothers close to this one, but we went with Ochs because of the low admission fee ($5 per person) and petting zoo. It was an hour and a half drive from upper Manhattan. We went here on a random Wednesday afternoon so we basically had the orchard to ourselves. The first parking lot you see is for their store, you have to keep driving up for the u-pick orchard. There you check in to pay your admission fee, get your wristband, and get your apple picking bag(s). They give you a map where the ripe apples are highlighted for you. My favorite apples were the honeycrisp and snap dragons. They grow vegetables too but honestly we didn't explore the orchard that much (it was huge) so the only other thing I picked besides apples was a tomato, which I felt like was pretty difficult to find a good one. I handed out the apples to other friends and colleagues and they all liked them! There's something different about picking the apple straight off the tree than the apples you would normally just buy at a grocery store. It's a lot crispier when you pick them yourself! The store has apple cider doughnuts! Now being that I am a Californian where we don't have this apple picking culture, I was wondering what all the hype around apple cider doughnuts was about. NOW I GET IT they're so good! Unfortunately since we went on a weekday the doughnuts weren't fresh (they make them fresh on the weekends) so some of them were stale, but most were still good. It's honestly more of a cake than a doughnut, but so good! The doughnuts are self serve towards the back. The store also had a cat on the prowl haha We ended up not even having time to visit the petting zoo, but overall I think my colleagues had a good time here and I would recommend this orchard for anyone trying to have a no frills apple picking experience. I believe there was like a building restroom closer to the store and port o potties closer to the u-pick orchard.

We came on a winter day few days after Christmas and they had free samples of apple cider. I got some tea and honey to bring back home to FL. I also bought some apples and they were so soft inside and juicy. Unlike any other apple I've had. I wish I had a way to bring the Amish butter home since a family member has it in their home I often have it with bread in the morning. The staff were friendly, and everything was well-organized. Heads up It's a bit busy during peak times, but that's to be expected at a popular place. But when we came on a Saturday they were practically empty and lady made a joke not to come on the weekends so I assume normally it's a busy day or they dedicate it to stocking up since when we came I saw about 3 of the staff unboxing stuff. Overall, a really enjoyable experience with a charming atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back next season!

Finally had a chance to go apple picking with a group of friends at this lovely, sprawling orchard…read moreduring Fall Festival Country Music theme weekend. There was a lot going on throughout, including awesome live music, hot apple cider, farm store filled with gourmet products, multiple food vendors, pumpkin cheesecake tastings, and of course the vast orchard where all the apple trees were, which were all located uphill. There were over 10 different types of apples, such as Mutsu, Evergreen, Macoun, Snapdragon, and Honeycrisp. I mostly collected the more unique kinds. I also managed to locate the Pear trees, way behind the hay riding area. I picked Asian and Bosc pears. We went on a hay ride, which was $5 and it was rustic, bumpy, giving a sweeping view of the beautiful orchard grounds. Back in the main area, we had lunch. By this time, lines were pretty long, so we divided and conquered, as well as found a place to sit. I shared Pork Ribs and Fries, which were both very tasty. The Ribs were delightfully tender and well seasoned. Fries were perfectly crispy. One draw back was that most everything at the store and most lunch items were quite expensive. Overall, there were great vibes, and I really enjoyed the views at the farm, apple / pear picking, as well as the hay ride.

One of the best times I've had in a really long time!…read more As a born and raised Floridian, I'd never been apple picking, but a fall trip demanded it so we found ourselves here on the last weekend of the season. We started down at the bottom of the hill with "Apple Cannons" ! Pneumatic launchers that lobbed our apples into an old truck, pumpkins, hay bales, and fun targets. So awesome! Then we headed up to the main event and wow! It was a total vibe! - A live band playing exactly the perfect country music you'd expect at an apple orchard on a cool fall day. - Vendors selling soft & hard cider, juice, various hot foods, and my personal favorite, hot fresh apple cider donuts! - Costumed characters walking around passing out trick or treat candy to the kids. - An Apple orchard! Row after row after row of apple trees, most were picked pretty clean, but we found lots of juicy and delicious fruit waiting for us on the trees. You can wander around and eat whatever you want or buy a bag and take some home... We did both! Inside there's a general store and souvenir shop as well, and everyone we let or talked to was helpful and friendly, but we had all our fun out in the open.
