This farm takes some getting used to! It is a little different from the usual farm stores i am used to that were sprinkled around in Oxford, Ct or for example the Shorts farm in Newtown. They don't seem to sell their own produce but a range of health related goods and baked goods procured from all over. So it's more like a functioning general store in the countryside attached to a farm? The people are friendly and I normally get my eggs from there when the new pond farm runs out. I removed a star as their prices are a little over priced.

: had such a refreshing - sunny - tasty experience here!! everyone was soooo friendly and i had a lovely chat with the owner. i went specifically for some fresh mint- and left with a pot to grow at home! started asking about cilantro and if they had sawgrass and had the most pleasurable experience of tasting cilantro flower buds right before it goes to seed! awesome little flavor bubbles of joy!! i wish everyone could give out the awesome - non pretentious - vibes that Holbrook Farm sends. get some.

A cute cat snuggled under our car as we shopped.

This farmstand has the best produce in Connecticut, in my opinion…read more In fall of 2024, my husband and I made it a habit to visit a different farmstand every weekend to support our local farmers. Of all the sites we visited, this was the stand out. The fruits and vegetables are incredible... literally picture-perfect and bursting with flavor. In addition, the stand has lots of homemade products like mango salsa, horseradish mustard, and the like. These specialty items are delicious! Oh, and don't forget to pick up some of their homemade preserves. My husband and I practically overdosed on peach preserves! There is a beautiful outdoor area where kids can play, which also makes the stand a nice destination for families. Last but not least, the staff that works here is so friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them.

You can read my review of Bubba's Brunch food truck in my review section because the food was delicious. Hindinger Farm sells fresh vegetables, fruits, jams, and other items for children, and it has a beautiful backdrop. One side of the farm overlooks the other side of the farm and the other side of the farmi overlooks this beautiful backdrop of nature on the farm. Hindubger Farms puts on live shows, and you can go shopping. There is also a playground for the kids to play. The playground is fenced in with a picnic area so parents can enjoy their food without worrying about their children's safety. You can always check their website for events, shopping, and find out which food truck will be at the farm that day. The customer service was great, and I will definitely be back.

CTown down the block has horrible quality vegetables and produce, it was so bad that they were selling veggies and fruits with mold all over everything. Then we stumbled by this hidden gem, literally a 4 min walk away! Saw it was bustling with customers so we checked it out and was surprised how fresh and tidy everything was. Also super thrilled that MOST items are package free!! Which means we won't have to buy pre-packaged foods in bulk which tend to go to waste when we can't use all of it. And yes if you bring your own mesh bags that's a double whammy - great for the environment + less waste and plastic trash The meat section is also package free (order at the counter your preferred cuts/amount) and everything was tidy and neat. They had some meats that elsewhere doesn't carry - like pork neck, or thicker/yellow skinned chicken which we like to use for Asian dishes (not even Hmart had these). And they also had a deli meat/cheese counter. And I'm sure you can ask for specific cuts for dogs if you feed raw. Oh and lastly, prices are amazingly affordable. Of course you're not going to have a grand selection of items that you'd find at a big super, also there's no seafood section. But this is more than enough for basic grocery shopping, and everything is so fresh. More than happy to pay cash and support this small business that's doing everything right. Cashier was also very cordial and polite Not the exhausted/unhappy kind you find at typical big supermarkets.

They don't take credit cards just checks and cash. Bring your own bags for your veggies. Although they have a butcher who prepares fresh meat to order, I have never purchased their meal. They also sell a plethora of Spanish foods, spices, and canned goods that you can't find in regular grocery stores.

Jones Winery is one of my new favorites in CT! I went for the first time the other day, and…read moreinitially went to the wrong place! Keep in mind that there is a "Jones Family Farm Pumpkinseed Hill" at 120 Beardsley Rd., and then the "Jones Valley Farm/Jones Winery" at 606 Walnut Tree Rd. My GPS accidentally took me to the Pumpkinseed Farm at first, but it wasn't a big deal because the winery is just a few minutes away. Once I was in the right place, a staff member greeted me and gave me the wine/food menu. They have a lot of different areas to sit, including a patio with tables/umbrellas (where they had live music playing), a pavilion with tables underneath, an upper patio that was covered by a pergola with leaves/vines on top, and an inside bar area with seating. The inside bar area has garage doors that were open, leading out to the upper patio. Even though it was a hot day, I sat under the pergola and it was surprisingly cool underneath! After sitting down, a staff member quickly came over and took my drink/food order. I tried a glass of the Sunshine White, which was delicious! It was on the sweeter side though. Keep in mind that they only sell wine by the glass on the menu, but they do have a store where you can buy bottles to go. I also ordered the Simply Cheese Plate, which came with sharp cheddar cheese, Jones Berry Chutney, and sea salt crackers. This was excellent! They also do have a "Light Fare" menu with things like a hummus plate, cheesecake, popcorn, etc. The service was fast and the staff were friendly. They had a "Bouquet Bar" set up where you could buy fresh cut flowers, as well as a small gift shop. Overall a very cool winery in Shelton, I would definitely recommend!
