What a great farm!! I found out about Hindinger Farms from Instagram. A food truck called Bubba's Brunch was going to be selling brunch of the food truck at the farm. You can read my review of Bubba's Brunch food truck in my review section because the food was delicious. Hindinger Farm sells fresh vegetables, fruits, jams, and other items for children, and it has a beautiful backdrop. One side of the farm overlooks the other side of the farm and the other side of the farmi overlooks this beautiful backdrop of nature on the farm. Hindubger Farms puts on live shows, and you can go shopping. There is also a playground for the kids to play. The playground is fenced in with a picnic area so parents can enjoy their food without worrying about their children's safety. You can always check their website for events, shopping, and find out which food truck will be at the farm that day. The customer service was great, and I will definitely be back. read more

This farmstand has the best produce in Connecticut, in my opinion. In fall of 2024, my husband and I made it a habit to visit a different farmstand every weekend to support our local farmers. Of all the sites we visited, this was the stand out. The fruits and vegetables are incredible... literally picture-perfect and bursting with flavor. In addition, the stand has lots of homemade products like mango salsa, horseradish mustard, and the like. These specialty items are delicious! Oh, and don't forget to pick up some of their homemade preserves. My husband and I practically overdosed on peach preserves! There is a beautiful outdoor area where kids can play, which also makes the stand a nice destination for families. Last but not least, the staff that works here is so friendly. Hi you MUST go get strawberries from the this farm. The strawberries this year are so VERY sweet. Go and trust me you will keep going back for more. What an amazing find! This farm has been my saving grace this fall. The produce looks and tastes amazing unlike what's available currently in the supermarket. I especially love the Brussels, onions, potatoes and apples. I enjoy buying in season along with supporting a local business. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Be sure to take your time to look around - there are also some local sauces, preserves and bee products around the perimeter. If you have children, build up your points so you can check out the playground! read more

Amazing gem! The strawberries are fresh and sweet and the salsa is great. They also have other farm fresh produce (varying by season). They have events throughout the year, which is a perfect time to visit their goats, and mini cart course for kids. Pricing is reasonable and the selection is good. I plan on getting a pie during my next visit. read more

Third year in a row for our CSA from here. It gets better every year, I swear. Family owned and run, they are just a delight every week when we come shopping. The produce is exemplary, their flowers are phenomenal (and last a solid week!), and the dairy assortment is a nice treat for a local farm! read more

The awesome beauty of Autumn is alive and well on a drive to Hindinger Farm. It's about 6 minutes from Hamden Plaza. The produce is mostly grown on site. There is an assortment of home made items for sale as well as craft items. The reason I travel up the hill, besides the beautiful view, the produce. I'm currently trying to include more gruits and vegetables in my diet and the best way is to eat in season, local grown, produce. The flavor of fresh picked fruits and vegetables far surpasses the grocery store produce I'm used to. I'm renewing and rekindling my love of fruits and vegetables. Love going here when stuff is in season! Nice fresh veggies, reminds me of the farmer markets in Budapest when I was living there. One of our fav things: the boxes of pickling cucumbers. Several times they were out and one of the owners came and quickly made a box for us. We also love to go and visit the goats and the chickens. The place feels like it has history, and belongs here. I have a secret - there are, in fact, some things that I miss about living in New Haven. Hindinger's is very, very high on that list. The fruits and vegetables that are produced on this farm are DELICIOUS. Apples, peaches, strawberries, corn, you name it. I always want more. Hindinger's is TRULY a family institution. The folks that run the farm really get to know their customers. Heck, I don't even live in the state anymore and I'm remembered. When my mom goes in, Anne always checks in with her to see how I'm doing. And, I know that it's not just me [although, they're so good at making people feel special that it sometimes feels like it is]! Hindinger's is like the Cheers of farms, seriously. I grew up with Hindinger's Farm being a staple in my life, especially throughout apple season. There are few things in my life, past or present, that make me happier than a Macoun that was picked fresh from one of Hindinger's trees. One of my most vivid childhood Halloween trick-or-treating memories happened at Liz Hindinger's front door. Instead of handing me a piece of candy that she was giving out, she went and got me a Macoun apple from her fridge. Point is, the Hindinger family really makes you feel special - both on and off the farm. The people are wonderful, the farm is gorgeous, and the produce is delicious. What more could you ask for? I loved this place. I've been taking my kids for years for our pumpkins.love their selection since I don't just like the regular boring pumpkins. I was very disappointed when I attempted to take my kids here on Colombus day. They were closed; guess I should've checked first. My kids and I were standing in the parking lot trying to figure out where we should go and this car pulls up with what I'm guessing one of the owners. She was very rude to us so we will not be back. read more

A great little farm with a wonderful farm store. A big variety of fruits and vegetables as well as pies, ice cream, milk, eggs. Even stuff for the kitchen. I love this farm, great place to get veggies. They have fresh local honey. I get my pumpkins and mums there every October. In the colder months I enjoy the hot apple cider. Kids love it. I have been back home in Hamden for the past five months and my trips to the farm have been one of the best parts of my sojourn. My meals revolved around whatever I bought at the farm, corn on the summer, devine Brussel sprouts. I can't remember when I have eaten so many peaches, apples and pears. But it's not just about good food, it's also a great experience. The farm is on a plateau with 360 degree views. Sometimes I went not for the produce but because I just needed to chill. If all that's not enough, you can feed the goats. I do not know why anyone with a car (it would be a tough walk up the hill) would not buy all their produce here. I love this farm. We've been coming here for a few years now and it just gets better every year. I believe strongly in farming and buying locally whenever possible, and Hindinger has a great selection of fruits and veggies during various times of the year. Unlike some other farms in the area, they have a great selection of both tree fruit and all sorts of veggies. Remember what tomatoes used to taste like? No? Check this place out in September and you'll find out. Great place for the kids because there is plenty of area on the side of the building with toys and playhouses. For years, since long before I had children, Hindinger has been my favorite place in Hamden. Even though it is easy to get to, you feel like you are way out of town. It's beautiful up there and you can see downtown New Haven off in the distance. All of the members of the family--which has owned the farm for over 100 years--are just lovely. Friendly, happy to answer questions, etc. We are gorging on their delicious apples at the moment and just got our pumpkin. My son loves feeding the goats, checking out the bees making honey, and reading Tractor Mac books. He almost always runs into a friend or makes a new one. In addition to their produce and other local produce, they always have lemons, limes, and bananas, local milk, ice cream and pies, salsa and jams made from their produce, and all sorts of home gifts from dishtowels to goat's milk soap. It's just a wonderful, welcoming place. read more

Living for decades in New Haven, eating tons of vegetables and fruits, and comparative shopping all this time, we've never found a match for Hindinger's produce in freshness, quality, and variety that changes with the seasons as it should.
