This is a sandwich shop that is popular for breakfast and lunch. They also have some refrigerated items, such as salads and cold salads like potato salad, chicken salad, mixed beans, tortellini salad and the like. I went recently and got their curry chicken salad and it was one of the most delicious things I had ever tasted. It was the first time I'd seen it there. These bastards! I came in to get a heart-healthy egg sandwich, and saw them slicing that amazing looking meat in the attached picture. What can I say, I have very little willpower, when it comes to steak subs. I swear, most of what you see in that photo ended up in my sandwich, along with fresh onion and peppers, cheese and a delicate, slightly-crispy roll. Put simply, it was amazing. Easily the best steak sub I've had in several years. Fantastic way to start my day, and (unlike most steak subs I try these days) it didn't leave me feeling greasy or gross. Even though it was a good size, I found myself wishing I had two more. Hell, I wish I had two more right now. This is the second time I've been here, and the second time I've been extremely impressed. The staff is incredibly friendly, and it's obvious that they put care into what they do. What I found, however, was a fairly ordinary deli sandwich joint. The sandwiches might be very good, and I'll go back and try one. But today, the handful of customers were in line for the hot food counter which offered up chicken Parm, sesame roasted chicken, vegetables, rice... You get the idea. So I joined in. I had a little bit of everything. And everything was OK. Nothing stood out. And unfortunately, nothing was any warmer than tepid. Lukewarm. When food is sitting out like this, it should be hot. Found this little gem one Saturday afternoon while scoping out a local running store. I had the BLT and A sandwich (bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado) and hubby had the Balboa which was roast beef (Philly cheesesteak style) in garlic bread. WOW, they were both delicious! Each sandwich was packed with layers of flavor. We also shared a tomato and cucumber salad and a chocolate chip cookie that was, literally, larger than hubby's head. We arrived about 2:30. Although they close at 3 PM on Saturdays, they were kind enough to let us eat there. We never felt pressure to hurry up or scarf down our food. In fact, we had some lovely conversation with the gentleman that prepared our sandwiches. Apparently he's the chef two days a week at a local restaurant in Sandy Hook called the The Foundry. If his sandwiches are any indication of his other cooking talents than I can't wait to check out The Foundry! read more

Portion sizes are average to above average for a deli depending on what you order. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. For a single person for lunch with a sandwich, drink, and small container of pasta the price is usually around $15.00.
