Well, buckle up, here it is, real talk. Went to Dimitris for breakfast, the place was empty, but for some reason, the waitress was very impatient, very unfriendly and was attempting to rush us. My elderly friend place an order for a coffee and the waitress was very snippy and started speaking spanish to the other people that worked there, they all started to laugh, unfortunately for them, this white lady, (ME) speaks fluent spanish. That young waitress was ridiculing us, in spanish because she thought we couldn't understand her. I never let on that I understood them and I certainly didn't tell my elderly friend what transpired. Needless to say, I will never be returning and I certainly will not be recommending this Diner to anyone. read more

We eat here often because it is a very welcoming place! The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The wait staff is always very pleasant and attentive. The food comes out quickly and hot. Dimitri's is actually a very good restaurant; there is a variety of offerings on the menu and all the meals are quite tasty. Prices are reasonable and Ridgefield seniors are eligible for a discount with the Gold Card. Dimitri's is our favorite restaurant in Ridgefield. read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed Dimitri's. I must say that I hate giving a three star review because when they're on, I really like their food. They can serve up some great Greek and some tasty diner food. Unfortunately, over the past five years, they have sent me straight up rotten food twice on delivery orders. The first time was about five years ago. I ordered a salad with shrimp on it, and as soon as I opened the container, it smelled off. But I took a bite and immediately spit it out. That shrimp was rancid. There's no way the cook didn't realize it, but they knew it was a delivery order and decided to send it. No way they would have served it in house. And more recently, I ordered a salad and received salad dressing that was completely separated. It was half clumps and half oil, and no amount of stirring would reconstitute it. Someone had to pour it into the little container, and there's no way they didn't notice. They just didn't care because it was a delivery order. I know diners have to stock an insane amount of ingredients for their large menus, and it's probably difficult to avoid waste. But sending rotten food to delivery customers is not the way. I'm extremely wary at this point. read more

I typically ordered take out for this place but recently went to eat there. They have a lot of seating inside and outside. They have a large menu and friendly staff. My favorite is the turkey Club sandwich which I substituted onion rings. At first I thought wow that's not a lot of rings but they were so large and fried perfectly! I usually love Dimitri's but I went Sunday for breakfast and I was very disappointed. I ordered a cheese omelet and there were onions in it. They gave me a new omelet and it was terrible. The waiter literally walked to return my omelet and came back out with a new omelet. There is no way you could make an omelet in less than 1 minutes. There was barely and cheese in it and it was wet. I feel they have omelets made already and they just add what you want. Very disappointed. read more

Sadly, I ordered coleslaw and I was surprised when it came with minced green peppers in it. Normally, coleslaw does not contain peppers and I had to send it back due to allergies. I always love coming here - the breakfast is awesome and the staff provide great service.

We've never had even one problem with this diner. The food is fresh, tasty, and well-prepared. The wait staff has always been polite and considerate. I love the bright interior during the day, with windows being both front (Prospect Street) and back (parking area). There's also a covered outdoor eating space if you're into that. It's really more of a Mexican/Greek/American food restaurant than a diner, but the menu is definitely complete with all diner-style choices. I would always recommend Dimitri's diner to anyone. Try the homemade desserts, which last I checked were still being offered. Not sure if they still have their Tres Leches cake, but if they do--it's amazing!! read more

It's prohibited to charge a fee for using a credit card in the state of Connecticut. However they get away with it by offering a cash discount. As for the food, the portions don't add up to the cost. $15 for a couple fries and a soggy sandwich. The service is also below average. read more

I first visited and had a meal here about oh 2 years ago and I really enjoyed the food,service and atmosphere. The service was very good and the menu has a wide variety of choices. I was there again yesterday and the service was still just as good as it was my first time there. The food is delicious and I appreciated that they also saved me a St. Patrick's Day dinner that I was able to enjoy yesterday. I look forward to future visits and meals. Just your standard Greek diner. I've only been there a few times, but I recommend their sandwiches if you're into diner food. Service is good, and the option for takeout is a neat bonus. They also have a pretty large selection of cakes and pies, the Lemon Meringue is probably your best choice. Overall, just an ordinary diner. Dimitri's Diner hosted 43 students and 14 adults for lunch today as part of a school field trip. Kostas and the staff were so accommodating, kind, organized, and treated us like royalty! There was a great deal of preparation done to ensure our groups comfort and happiness. The pre planned menu included a great selection for both the kids and adults and everything was delicious. Our students were given the opportunity to practice ordering their food and drink and to be successful. I highly recommend Dimitri's for going above and beyond! read more

So #1 it's a diner. #2 Sometimes a diner is exactly what one wants. Particularly a Greek diner because I like the Greek diner food. Namely I have two dishes I like to order here: 1) The chicken souvlaki platter. Comes with a Greek salad with nice cubes of feta, a stuffed grape leaf, delicious dressing, pita, tzatziki, rice, and the chicken itself is sooooo flavorful and tender. 2) The spanokopita (spinach pie) and same salad as above. Yum. Not sure what wouldn't be to like there. Now I have to admit they aren't my favorite for breakfast, but those two meals above I totally crave. Like I want it now. Very good for simple diner fair. The varied menu and decor is very kid friendly. It was a family favorite when my kids were young.

Breakfast was sickening. The eggs over easy were tasteless. The hash browns tasted like old grease on the grill. The turkey bacon was flavorless. It was a horrid experience. I've been here a ton of times. After much thought, and a lot of reflection upon the food and service I've received here over the years, I've decided that you can do a lot better. You could do a lot worse too, but this is Ridgefield, not New Britain. With good breakfast places like the Early Bird, and a dozen premium-level restaurants in the area, Dimitri's kinda fades into obscurity. It's not even that inexpensive as far as diners go. Bethel, Danbury, and Newtown have multiple spots that are cheaper, and offer better food. I'll give 'em credit for one thing - I don't know if they do it anymore, but historically on the anniversary of their opening, they have half-price food, a thank you gift to their regular customers. Show up and order the most expensive thing on the menu, I guess! I loved their pastitchio, a "Greek Lasagna" if you will featuring pasta, flavored ground meat, and a creamy souffle topping. But they don't serve it anymore, at least not regularly. In terms of value, it's on par with Denny's. But I'd rather go to Denny's, because at least I'd be paying less. read more

I had the Ribs with Mashed Potatoes Special. The ribs fell off the bone BUT the meat was so dried out that it scratched the whole way going down as I swallowed. They were drenched in bottled bar-b-que sauce so that you wouldn't notice how dried out the meat was until you cut it up. The mashed potatoes served with them looked like they were instant. (But I have to say that they didn't taste bad with some chicken gravy on the side.) Also had a glass of Merlot and could barely tolerate the smell of the glass that it was served in. The smell was like the glass was washed in some very scummy / dirty water. It tainted the wine experience and made me cringe when I drank it. This place is child-friendly but judging by the bedlam that was in the place, it makes for an unpleasant setting. The entrance door shot ice cold air into the restaurant every time someone entered. The service was pretty good. But the food and glass washing procedures / standards are in desperate need of fixing. I will not be back for sure. Spent $21 for my meal and wine and it was a waste of my hard-earned money. read more
