A decent diner on Prospect Street in Ridgefield, near the library. I have been going here once in a while pretty much since they first opened 15+ years ago. The breakfast is pretty good. I visit my friend in Ridgefield at least 2-3 times a month and we always end up going to Dimitris Diner and a couple of other spots in the area while we are there. Coming from New York, I have seen my share of diners and dives, and this is by far one of the nicest and most health concious diners I've been to. They even have green salt if you want to monitor your salt intake. The food is definitely a LOT healthier than your typical food in the area and I'm glad ! People need to get with the times and start eating a little healthier! This restaurant is very new-age in that aspect, I was also checking out ads in the restaurant for their online ordering. Their online system is very advanced, I've never seen a restaurant website like this. You can order a burger online, add avocado for instance, even specify medium-well, what a cool website! In recent months, I noticed the restaurant installed flat screen tv's showing the news and pictures of the dishes, that's a nice touch too. I was looking over some of the reviews and I have to say, do you really expect a diner to serve BBQ style ribs? I don't see a smoke cooker in the restaurant, what's wrong with you? Yes, the food is not the most delicious food I've ever tasted but considering the vast variety, I would say that the chefs achieve it well above average! One of my favorite places!! I've been going to Dimitris Diner for 22 years, ever since I was a baby. Everyone that works there is so nice and friendly. Service is great. Food quality is great. Their grilled cheeses are the best. I have yet to have a grilled cheese as good as theirs. Also, great homefries. Their baklava is also very good. I was nickel and dimed into spending $25 for a mediocre grilled chicken sandwich... an extra $3 for avocado, extra $1.50 for bacon, extra $1.50 for honey mustard- really??? I can buy a whole bottle of dressing for $1.50. Since when do you have to pay for condiments AND since when does salad dressing cost as much as bacon? Then an extra $2.25 for fries, which should have came with the meal. If I wanted to spend $25 on lunch I would have gone down the street to Village Tavern and gotten a quality meal for the same price! read more

It's a good place as long as you're going there for diner food, it is a diner after all. Given it's located in Ridgefield the prices were alright I guess - but considering I don't usually eat in Ridgefield I found it to be pricey for what you got. The place is really clean and well kept, the service was a bit slow - but very friendly. There are two separate entrances to two separate dinning rooms - one for families and one regular. I used to go here all the time. Went late night with a friend from NYC several years ago and we both were served the wrong items, but since it was late we just took what we were given. Both of us got sick later that night. Recently went back, again late night, only option open. Just not good. Food did not taste fresh at all. read more

Average meal. When I go into a Greek themed diner I never expect more than what I have always received.

I use Dimitris quite often they deliver I go there the food is great the service is very good and they do anything to please me. I love their beef gyro and order it often. When my father was alive they delivered Thanksgiving Dinner to my home. The plate was piled so high with delicious food that my father took some home with him. First time visit...Went their on a sat am for breakfast...first warning sign was an empty restaurant...the coffee was weak, the corned beef I ordered crispy tasted like it came from a can and was not even cooked..my wife said it looked like pedigree....my wife's bacon tased funky..but on a positive note, the over easy eggs were good as was the service and the place was clean. maybe they are better known for dinner? read more

I really don't like to write negative reviews, but my experience today calls for one. Stopped in for lunch today and ordered a chicken panini. Now I've had chicken paninis all over Fairfield and New Haven counties in CT, but the one I was served today at Dimitri's was downright awful. For $8.95, I got a nicely toasted panini bread with a few really small miniscule pieces of dark and light chicken with some tomato chunks and a bland, nameless cheese sauce. Seriously? Taco Bell serves more chicken in their chicken quesadillas. If this is what they serve their customers, I hope the diner ambiance makes up for the lack of food that winds up on the plate. Very small. All cheaply made salad with iceberg lettuce, one grape tomato cut in half, one small cumber piece cut in half. It looked like my seven year old made me a salad. Called manager and told him we have been coming for years and food has been going downhill hill. Told me thanks for the input. No attempt at service recovery. $26 for a small poorly made salad and a small wrap with lettuce and feta?? No thanks. Go to early bird or even the super market and buy the prepared foods. Good reliable diner food. The regular menu is multiple pages long and includes all the standard diner fare and then some. There are also many Greek options available which were tempting, but ultimately the standard American diner food won us over and satisfied the need for late night food. We arrived at 10:30 pm, starving after a long train ride. Many of our party members were in the mood for breakfast. With an extensive breakfast menu, including dozens of omelets, eggs benedict, and everything else you can imagine, we were in business. I ordered huevos rancheros and other family members ordered pancakes, bacon, and eggs. My son ordered fried clams. A few members of our group ordered sandwiches. Service was prompt and satisfactory. Most of my visits over the years have been during more reasonable meal hours and the place is usually full of customers, though this night there was only one other family in the place. You won't find gourmet cuisine here, but you will find reliable comfort food, including breakfast, at any time of day morning to midnight. read more

I've lived in ridgefield all my life and have been going here for years. I will say that the short Brazilian guy is a total mood killer. Can ruin your whole meal. Must be fired even though he's been working here his whole career probably. very sad. Also, food is way overpriced for its quality. The BLT is $10 compared to tony's deli a minute away for less than half the price and much much better. I only go to dimitris at night when everything else is closed for late night munchies and the guys here are total d**ks!! read more

Great spot for families. Colored pencils and paper to keep kids distracted certainly help. Staff is super friendly- very accommodating. Quick turnaround after you order, good with refills etc. Extensive menu, mostly American and Greek food. Standard stuff for the most part. Healthy options available (grilled chicken, whole wheat pasta for kids). Burgers are solid. Breakfast is big and good. Not an uncommon complaint for most diners, but there isn't a ton of flavor in the food. Still good/fine (I ate it all), but not quite worthy of a 5. There is a tv on the wall where they have a slideshow of pics of kids who've eaten there- I think my kids stared at it for 15 minutes while we finished, just waiting to see some more of their friends (or themselves). Best way to put it, simply gross! This place has gone so downhill it's crazy. Used to go here when kids were small and now, 10 years later what was I thinking? Maybe motherhood with young children kidnapped my culinary brain and palette but this is not reliable or good food. If you are a good cook, BEWARE and stay home and cook! Otherwise venture to early bird, a quarter mile away-hopefully they are open. Dimitri's definitely has a lot of room for improvement, but it's still pretty convenient. I frequently get the chicken souvlaki - i love the tzatziki, salad and pilaf, but the chicken is ALWAYS overcooked. at this point, it just makes me laugh. their menu is huge, so there's a lot to choose from. typical diner fair plus some greek options. read more

I felt really sick after having breakfast here with my family-bacon tasted "old" (since when does bacon ever taste bad??!) and the hash browns were beyond gross! My boyfriend and I love Dimitri's! Whenever his parents visit they usually ask us to pick something up. We've had their grilled chicken triple decker, gyro, french toast and sausage, spinach pie, and chicken tenders. All are great. read more
