Great place for expert tailoring and dry cleaning in Boston. Since moving to the area a few months back, I have been coming here primarily for tailoring and some dry cleaning. All of the tailoring I have requested has been done exactly to the correct specifications with very high quality. Honovan is extremely friendly and very efficient with performing measurements. Honovan continues to amaze me after 4 years. She is the best!!!! I've been going to her for years and never had a piece lost or damaged. Reliable dry cleaning service and AMAZING alterations and tailoring. I have brought this woman (and her staff of sweet grandmother types) every kind of dress dilemma: take this hand me down in 3 sizes; shorten this old dress by a foot; let out every seam on the super cute 00 dress I found on clearance; hem all my pants. These are all actual requests I've made and Honovan just smiles, pins me quickly here and there, and tells me to come back next week. EVERY SINGLE ALTERATION IS BEAUTIFULLY DONE. I am so overdue to write this review and I can't emphasize enough how wonderful she is. She's very friendly and gets me in and out quickly. She only takes cash so make sure you hit an ATM before going to pick up your clothes. Disappointed... I went there during lunch time with an alteration. I had to wait a long time to get into the changing room. Service at this point was fine. I returned 1 week later and she could not find my dress. After waiting 15 minutes for her to search she took down my info & said she said she would call me next day. I finally call around 2:00 next day and after fumbling around she says she has found the dress. Absolutely no apology of any kind over inconveniencing me at all. What a pain!! This place is fabulous! I have been here for tailoring, shoe repair, and dry cleaning and they do an excellent job on all three for a very reasonable price. I take things here for tailoring all the time and am always very pleased with the outcome. The only thing I don't like is that it's cash only, but there are several conveniently located ATMs nearby (including in the hotel it's attached to) so it's no big deal. read more

Took them about a week to tailor my men's dress shirt, the price was right ($~17) but the job was pretty shoddy. Sloppy stitching and it looked like sort of a rush job. And, like other reviewers, I had to wait 15 mins because they only had one person on staff. I won't take my clothes here again. read more

I picked this place for a David's Bridal bridesmaid dress alteration based on location (close to my work and Back Bay Station) and reviews. I'm glad I did. I called to schedule an appointment and told it was not necessary but was given a general time to come which was helpful. I stopped in the next morning, was immediately helped, pinned up and out the door within 10 minutes. I was nervous because I was not quoted a price for the alterations, but I was told to call back the next day to ask. I did, and the total for the dress being taken in a little and hemmed a few inches was $53, very reasonable in my opinion. It was ready in 1 week and I tried it on before I paid just to make sure it looked right. It was perfect. I will definitely be back for future alteration needs. read more

I decided to give this place a second chance and I'm even more disappointed than last time. Laundry took 2 full days again (for 1 load this time). Towels came back more bleached, and certain items of mine which had stains came back with the stains. I had to hand wash them, after which the stains came out (some after just washing with water!). I don't know how they wash things, but if they don't come back clean, then what's the point? I'm really not happy with this place. read more

I have tried most of the Back Bay dry cleaners and Honovan is hands down the best. After two years of going to them 2-3 times a month, I have not had one single problem - a refreshing break from the usual issues that arise with dry cleaners. This place really is as good as it gets. I've had a dress altered (fit perfectly) and dry cleaning done here. Yes, they don't take plastic, but that's how you get lower prices. The woman who runs the store is very nice. I often lose or forget my original receipt and she is able to look it up in her system. Highly recommend this place. read more

First of all the lady at Honovan was very nice so I feel bad giving them a bad review. However, I don't want what happened to me to happen to other people. I went in with a long dress for a commencement ball. I needed it shortened by about 2-3 inches. I gave them over a week to do it so they were not in a huge time crunch. I picked up the dress during my lunch break the following week so I was in a hurry and didn't really look too closely at it before paying and leaving. BIG MISTAKE. Before I even arrived at my event the hem came about 80% undone. I was so angry, especially since that meant having to hold my dress up the entire night or else continue to step on it. The seamstress did a really poor job on it. I have very limited sewing experience and I could've done the same thing that she did. I thought this place was a great find based on other reviews and the fact that it is reasonably priced but unfortunately there is no way I can leave a decent review after the horrible outcome from the work they did on the dress.
