    Dry flavorless "Mac & cheese"
    Brittanie M.

I really wanted to like this place! Nice atmosphere, cool concept, down with the menu, etc. I specifically bumped this place up on my must try list after seeing some pics of creamy and very good looking mac & cheese. To my disappointment I actually received the most dry and boring flavorless mac & cheese I've ever had. That says a lot because I'll be honest I eat a lot of mac! This dish left me wondering if I accidentally just ordered plain noodles off the kids menu, but then I remembered I was at a bar. That being said I'm also not expecting restaurant level service at a bar, but as we did have table service, it was a little odd to see our server so seldomly. Not really a chance to share any feedback on the food or remedy the situation as we were not checked in on. Never mind getting another drink. Equally odd was seeing so many managers (?) walking around in fancy suits but obviously could not be bothered to actually talk to any patrons. I guess since Lillard apparently owns this place I'll mention him, but sadly I don't have much honorable to add.

I visited from out of town and hope to return some day. The service was great and they were able to squeeze us in with a reservation so that was much appreciated. I read the venue is associated with Dame Lillard but I wouldn't have known by the looks of the venue itself. The place has a nice ambiance though. The food was decent though I didn't order the most exciting items- pretzels and pizza. But those were just okay. Dessert was pretty good though.

The newest elevated sports lounge in Downtown Portland is a must try! Are you a sports fan? Are you looking for an excuse to get dressed up and have a fun, chill night out? Looking for the "This & Yap" photo for your socials? Look no further, this is the spot! From arrival to departure Honorable Mention hit all the marks across the board. We arrived on a busy Friday night with the local Trail Blazers having tip-off at 7pm. The staff put us on the waitlist and offered us the opportunity to sit in the waiting area and have a drink in the meantime. Automatically, it wasn't your typical wait because with a drink in hand and good company the time flew by. The ambiance of both waiting and dining areas was lowkey, cozy, and upscale. With dimmed lighting it sets the tone for girls night out, date night or just quietly enjoying the vibes. The service was amazing, servers frequently passed by our table with just the right amount of spacing between check ins. The food? Everything was amazing! I visited during a time I couldn't eat meat due to religious reasons and it all surpassed my expectations. The Beet Deviled Eggs, perfect! The pizza shareable and very affordable. We were not disappointed! As a sports fan who enjoys the opportunity to get dressed up and watch a game from somewhere that's not home every once in a while, we loved it! We loved it so much we'll return and want to experience staying at the Benson to have a truly relaxing evening. Definitely give Honorable Mention a try! There is also a hidden gem within the restaurant (not pictured, you'll have to experience it for yourself!) now open!

Inside the Benson hotel and down the stairs. The ambiance was refined and cool. We loved checking out all the details in the decor. On grand opening day at 5:30 there were plenty of seats but by 6:30 it was packed. They are well staffed and their attention to tables was impressive. I could imagine sitting at the bar would be fun. We got an old fashioned and a glass of wine. My date was really into the almost invisible ice cube in his cocktail but also the taste was perfect. The mini lobster rolls tasted fresh and a good portion for mini. They're worth checking out.

Such a fun and true to its self Portland stop! Damien Lillard's bar has the vibes, it's a little speakeasy like with an actual secret bar within itself dark and cozy. Of course plenty of tvs to watch the game. Accommodating to large groups and small. Service is super friendly and know what they are doing. We didn't eat here yet but the drinks were amazing and (surprisingly) reasonably priced!

Super excited to check out Dame Lillard's new luxury sports bar inside the Benson Hotel in downtown Portland. The Benson lobby is already drenched in vintage elegance, and is stunningly beautiful. HM bar is downstairs and echos a swanky vibe as well but with a spin on sports decor. The two themes seem hard to mesh, luxury and sports, and at times it felt out of place to have the televisions all around playing sports shows, while browsing the menu full of offerings like lobster rolls, steak tartare and ahi tuna stacks. The menu also has traditional sports bar staples like wings, mozzi sticks, sliders and nachos, but each item is rizzed up a notch and everything seems to have a touch of sophistication. We only came for drinks this time, and to soak up the ambiance. We tried The Ali Drop, the Runner's High, The HM Mule, and a couple draft beers. The draft beers did not impress my beer-snob spouse, and even my easier-to-please Father in law didn't like the draft beers either, they tried two kinds of IPAs. The Runner's High is a rum/lime/coconut concoction but just tasted like watery pineapple juice to me. Our friend found her HM Mule to be basic and lacked uniqueness. I did like the Ali Drop, which is like a lemon drop martini. Our server was wonderful, intelligent and incredibly prompt. I'd like to comeback one more time in the future to try the food. I'm very intrigued by the menu and the 8-piece fried chicken platter looks yummy but is about $75 and probably needs to be shared by a few people. Final notes: I guess I thought a bar linked to Dame would be more of an experience for us, and really wow us in some way but we left feeling a bit underwhelmed overall. It did look like the spot to see and be seen was right up at the bar, in the glow of the illuminated booze shelfs.

Phenomenal ATMOSPHERE AND FOOD! Wow. A 10/10 for sure. My girlfriend had the idea of a date night here on Friday night after we saw a movie at Pioneer Place - it did NOT disappoint. We got 3 apps and 2 drinks, and it was all incredible. The Sweet Corn Ribs appetizer was our favorite, btw! The staff was super friendly too - that should for sure be on notice here, everyone! Our waitress even recommended the Speakeasy in the Benson Hotel as well. I won't give anything away on how to access the Speakeasy, but you guys just gotta go to the Honorable Mention first, and then ask someone there how to get there. So worth it! For sure will be heading back here to get 2-3 more app's to try out! S/O Damian Lillard and his entire Team for making this happen in downtown Portland.

Pretzel bites - Fondue was very cheesy and flavorful.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

But as soon as I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is beautiful, with a stylish central bar that immediately catches your eye. Although they do serve food, I wasn't very hungry, so I decided to just enjoy a couple of drinks. There are a few dining tables inside if you're planning to have a meal as well. The bartender was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with me after I asked for a few recommendations. The drinks were excellent, well-balanced, flavorful, and actually tasted like proper cocktails instead of just juice. They definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol either! I'm really glad I chose this place to celebrate. It ended up being the perfect spot for the occasion.

The room alone almost made it worth my time. The English pea risotto was very good, and the house fries were good. The French-oaked flight I requested was a sad effort. The bartender never asked what distillers I had as options other than indicating that Makers 46 must be what I'm after when I said French oaked and creamy was my vibe, to which I raised an eyebrow and indicated I was ok if he started with that in my flight as a base for comparison. Otherwise he never asked whether I'd like to spend good money on something special (I would have said yes) and later claimed these were the only French-oaked bottles they even had in stock despite a claimed inventory of over 2,000 whiskeys. What arrived: Penelope Architect--nothing at all on the nose, something like wood paneling on the palate. Angel's Envy Triple Oak--tasted just like the Angel's Envy Rum Cask I can get at the supermarket. Maker's 46--the best of those three, yet still quintessentially basic as a wheated French-staved bargain buy, which, by the way, I never indicated I was there for. When I diplomatically indicated my that my flight was totally blasé and asked for one last pour in hopes of redeeming the experience, he brought me a redundant Maker's Heart Series in which the heart was made of mildly chocolate-inspired disappointment. Staff clearly put effort into educating and serving, and the environment is special enough that I hope to return with friends for that alone, even though I was rushed out due to a scheduled reservation needing my unscheduled seat. Ultimately the pours left me with an extremely unimpressive result and a future 0-for-2 that I'd be willing to risk in hopes of their redemption. Exceptionally impressive venue, if totally unimpressive flight curation.
