As part of our Flushing Food Crawl this past Sunday, New York Food Court was our first destination,…read morewhere we hit three different stalls. The tables and seats are arranged cafeteria-style, with all the vendors surrounding the dining area. It wasn't too busy around 12 PM, so I walked around the different stalls to get a feel for what this food court had to offer. Thankfully, I didn't have to think too hard about what to try because one of my friends is basically a Flushing food expert, despite not even living in NYC. While there were at least 15 vendors, we only grabbed a few bites from three of them since these were my friend's favorites: - Fat Cat Flatbread 胖猫锅盔 - Liang Pi Wang 凉皮王 - Xie Bao Crabhouse 蟹宝 The food came out pretty quickly after ordering, and these three stalls awakened our stomachs in preparation for more delicious food to come. Overall, I liked that New York Food Court had plenty of seating and felt much more lowkey compared to the crowded and overwhelming New World Food court nearby. It's a convenient place to sample food from multiple vendors without having to fight for a table.

The best thing to do is point if something fancies your eye. We tried the "taco like" dumplings. They were freshly made. The lady steamed them and they were very good. It was plenty for a morning meal! Parking is difficult around this area. It's very congested. The 7 subway train or ride share is your best bet.

This place is every claustrophobic person's worst nightmare. Walking around to see what each stall had to offer was difficult with swarms of people constantly moving around. Fortunately, we were able to find a table for four to eat our food. We tried food from three vendors, which gave us a nice variety: - Liu Liu Sheng Jian 六六生煎王 - Nai Brother 奈哥 - Tarim Uyghur Food There are at least 20 vendors at this food court, with more options than we could possibly try in one visit. With so many people, I quickly became overwhelmed by how busy it was. Still, I'd definitely come back to try some of the other vendors, but probably on a less busy day!

Made my stomach feel not so clean after but it was good! The soup dumplings were okay, I don't think it's the best or worst I've had. The food court has no reception and can get very packed, especially since this place gets talked about a lot. The food court also has cool vending machines with blind boxes that are sometimes hard to find which is nice. If you live here it's pretty convenient place to stop by.

Compared to many of the other food courts in the area, Tangram's version might feel less exciting,…read moremore limited and possibly disappointing for what is considered the most premiere mall of Flushing. It's important to note that food options at Tangram are abundant, but the food court is an entirely different animal. As of right now, September 2026, the current food options are: Bao's Wok Birria Landia Cafe Maiko Cruncheeese Da Wei Mei Shi Ganblaze BBQ House Hua Shoo Shoo I'Milky Joju Mamie's Yogurt Na Tart NonLa Express Sing Choi Kee Soft Swerve Birria Landia (#1) is a slight outlier in that it's one of the only non-Asian options and this is their first brick and mortar location outside of their popular food truck in JH. Soft Swerve (#2) will most definitely give Cafe Maiko some competition with the soft serve as a must-have dessert option. Joju (#3) has been a household name in Queens for years, but their presence, along with NonLa Express is a testament to how Viet-starved most New Yorkers are. JoJu will likely be the most highly rated out of every business here and for good reason: their sandwiches are packed, the customer service is great, and the prices are reasonable. Chinese is usually the most abundant for obvious reasons with options from Hong Kong to Xinjiang. Sing Choi Kee showcases the HK cafe side, Ganblaze for daytime Chinese skewers, Da Wei Mei Shi is all for the dim sum, where as Hwa Shoo Shoo is the famous Xinjiang noodle chain. Places have come and go, but the current state of Tangram indicates the future looks bright. All other food courts have skewed Chinese, but Tangram is clearly the option for something a little different. Here's hoping for more consistency and tastier options down the road. ___________ (#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz/birria-landia-flushing-flushing (#2) https://www.yelp.com/biz/soft-swerve-tangram-flushing (#3) https://www.yelp.com/biz/joju-tangram-flushing

(#1) As a specialty shengjian bao (生煎包) spot, it brings one of Shanghai's most coveted street foods to Chinese food novices and enthusiasts all throughout NYC. The name Liu Liu (六六) is a nod to "66" which serves as a clever word play on two potential cultural references: the popular Chinese idiom "六六大顺" (may everything go smoothly) and the traditional Shanghainese/Jiangnan birthday celebration (六六寿). It's most likely the play on words for seamless business and good fortune, paired with a cool logo featuring the Chinese hand gesture for "6" which resembles the western "hang loose" sign. On weekends, there is almost always a wait during peak hours. Anyone looking to avoid crowds should consider weekday off hours, though even then, a line can form. The stall located in the corner neighboring Xian Cuisines (#3), which likely benefits from the massive crowds gathering here daily. The hype is real. Their self-coined "pan buns" are fabulous, filled with rich, juicy pork and a nicely crispy bottom. They are cooked in front of customers in large, specialty cast iron skillets and are offered at 6 pieces for $10 and 8 pieces for $12. There are noodle soup combos that also include curry beef vermicelli soup (咖喱牛肉粉丝汤) and the traditional single tier (?) soup (单档汤) and the classic double-tier soup (双档汤). Cash is king at New World Mall, so be sure to be flexible with waiting time and finding a seat. While many folks opt for to-go orders, I would strongly advise against takeout because it won't do these freshly made baos justice. Order a heap of them, sit down with some friends, and enjoy one of the best and most authentic foods in NY. ___________ (#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz/new-world-mall-food-court-flushing (#2) Auspiciousness at its finest. (#1) Yet some of the most interesting businesses are beginning to take shape here and certainly some of the more delicious options in the Flushing foodisphere. If one isn't reading the signs on the outside, Landmark Quest's lineup is similar to a lot of other stall driven spaces in the hood: dig a little further and find a lot of gems. Since businesses come and go (#2), the spaces are continually being filled with new concepts all the time. Virtually every stall is Chinese owned and operated. The big attraction for most is Joe's Steamed Rice Roll (https://www.yelp.com/biz/joes-steam-rice-roll-flushing), which is easily one of Flushing's most popular food stalls at the moment. Next door is another location of Qinjin Taste (https://www.yelp.com/biz/qinjin-taste-%E7%A7%A6%E6%99%8B%E5%91%B3%E9%81%93-flushing-2), followed by Taiwanese dessert haven Crystal Ice (https://www.yelp.com/biz/crystal-ice-flushing) along with good ol Toofy Duck (喵喵鸭) and newcomer Hunan SuoFen (湖南嗦粉). Across the way is also the popular Taiwanese dessert stall, Happy Wheelie (https://www.yelp.com/biz/happy-wheelie-%E9%96%8B%E5%BF%83%E7%B4%85%E8%B1%86%E9%A4%85-flushing), which recently rebranded as simply "Taiwan Wheel Cake." Not all the stalls have seating and with the exception of Joe's, most are take out friendly. Cash is king as always and a little Mandarin will go a long way. Otherwise, a little pointing should do the trick. Then there are a slew of other businesses ranging from a dance school and beauty to currency exchange and computer repair. As previously noted, all signs are out in the front for each individual business. I am hopeful this place will eventually have a steadier flow of traffic; it all starts with this review.
