    2 stars for the food.

The only good thing was the service... I hate giving a bad review, but I care enough to share this with them. They definitely need to improve the taste and quality of their foods. The potstickers have a really thick skin, the filling is ok but what I got was still kinda cold, which makes it gross. Wonton soup was lack of flavor and the meat inside the wontons was stink!, I just ate the veggies. Kungpao chicken was ok, no spice, not much flavor, lots of veggies. The steamed rice was hard, tasted raw. Might need a long long break from them to forget how bad their food made me feel.

One word to describe this place "deceptive". This place was GOOD! Outside, this place looked run down. Hubby and I have passed by this place for years and I REFUSED to eat here because it looked like one of those unsanitary places. Boy was I wrong. From what hubby told me they're been around for many years. As soon as we entered the door, it is very quaint. The menu is limited with the selection but enough for a variety. We normally order the kung pow chicken and mongolian beef as a test. No Chinese restaurant can screw that up unless they're a lousy restaurant in the first place and this place passed (with the exception of no chili pepper in the kung pow chicken). They also provide a bonus when you purchase a certain amount. Our order was over $20 so we got crab puffs for free. They were cream cheese mixed with crab meat, wrapped in wonton skin, deep fried and served with sweet and sour sauce. It was DELISH. Their potsticker had thick skin but the filling was also full of meat and seasoned just right. And finally, I love how they serve individual steam rice in bowls. normally I have to do that myself at other Chinese restaurants. looking forward to their other items from the menu. Overall 4 thumbs up (hubby's and mine). Will we come back? Heck yeah! Recommend: Try just eating the steam rice with just the sauce from the mongolian beef with the onions. Yummo!!!

The restaurant is nestled in the cute downtown area of Hughson, their main street. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the staff and seated right away. We were there on a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, but the restaurant was packed with customers. The menu has an extensive selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes. I had the Bruce Li roll which had tempura shrimp topped with crab meat, salmon, tuna, spicy mayo and unagi sauce. I also 2 pieces of the Hamachi (yellowtail), miso soup, and spicy edamame. The fish was some of the freshest I've ever had - flavorful, definitely sushi grade, and I could tell that it also wasn't previously frozen due to the color and texture. The miso soup and the spicy edamame were well-seasoned and delicious. My nephew had a combination plate with orange chicken, broccoli beef, and chicken fried rice. One thing to note that was really nice is that the restaurant allows you to create your own combination plates, they're not set items with no substitutions. When our waitress brought my nephew's combo plate, the food looked freshly cooked and delicious! He ate every bite! If you're ever in Hughson, try the Hughson Asian Kitchen - the friendly staff and tasty food won't disappoint!

Heck, they all usually even have pizza and French fries if you don't want Chinese food! No hamburgers though, like Mexican places. This New King Buffet, (super common name for Chinese buffets for some reason), is located way in the back of a shopping area off East Hatch Road. Look for the Cost Less Foods store, it's back and to the right of that. Glad we had the GPS to get us here. It sort of looks a little run down and older, not one of these new fancy Chinese buffets with tons of Chinese people in line, eating strange food from tide pools, nope, more or less American Chinese here. We go in and it's actually decently large enough with all the normal selections or foods, like noodles, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour stuff and egg rolls. Lunch time so no crab out. Service is the usual Chinese efficient, just to fill drinks and clear plates is all. Everyone filled up and thought the food was decent and no complaints, so that's good. I like it doesn't take too long to do lunch here, outta here in under an hour. I hate places we end up spending 2 hours at for lunch. Buffets are good for fast lunch.

The lady that seated us was very pleasant and met us at the table with iced water and our menus. We ordered: 1. Thai teas: refreshing and delicious. 2. House Special: came with fried shrimp, fried broccoli, Laos sausage, fried chicken, beef jerky and fried egg roll. All fried to perfection and a great plate to purchase to appease most palates. 3. Large sticky rice: which is a must! 4. Laos papaya salad (mild): this comes with 6 Thai chilies and was perfect heat. It comes with a side of fresh cabbage. It was all the things we needed the salad to be. The sauce was dark in color, salty and that danky goodness! 5. Laos sausage: ordered this on accident because I didn't realize there was some sausage that came on the house special platter which was fine because we knew we were taking stuff home. 6. Crispy pork belly: marinated perfectly and fried to perfection. Dipping sauce complimented it well. So much food and I believe the bill came in under $90. A good amount of food, delicious and filling. Glad we stumbled upon this place and don't think it will be our last visit!

Had lunch here while working in Modesto because it was nearby my location. Pretty disappointing…read moreChinese but the price for the amount of food was great. We called in an order for pick up, when I got there 15 minutes later it was ready and waiting. The 2 combo plates probably weighed 4 lbs in the bag. I honestly have no idea but it was hefty. The gentleman who helped me was also very nice and prompt. Unfortunately, the food was pretty lackluster. My orange chicken was miles away from crispy and the sauce was kind of bland. Also the chicken itself had that gross old chicken flavor that usually only comes from reheated chicken. The chow mein was also pretty bland. They did give chili sauce and soy sauce with the order, and adding those 2 things in spades did help with the lack of flavor. The cheese puffs were also disappointing. There was a good amount of crab in them, which is unusual for cheese puffs, however, the wrapper was thick and not crispy at all, mostly chewy, so all the enjoyable texture you expect wasn't there. My spouse had a combo with fried rice, beef & broccoli, and fried prawns. He liked it well enough but agreed it was pretty mediocre. The fried rice was pretty good but the beef & broccoli left a lot to be desired. In spite of the so so food, it's such a great price that it may be worth it to you. If you need a lot of food for not a lot of money, and you don't have high quality standards, this place will definitely take care of you.
