We stopped here for breakfast. The menu was extensive and they had lots of options for breakfast and lunch. Parking in the area was a little difficult but we did find a spot sort of nearby. It's a smaller restaurant so seating was limited but we were able to find a place inside for all 7 of us. I ordered the California scramble. I loved the description of the item with all the veggies but the asparagus was very tough and stringy. Either they are using too much of the asparagus stalk and need to trim it better or they got a bad batch of asparagus because more than half of the asparagus was totally inedible. The asparagus was the entire reason I picked that particular item so it was a bit disappointing, but the rest of the meal was great. I ate around the asparagus. The service was decent. It's really efficient as you're not waiting at your table for someone to take your order. They accommodate groups as well as I saw the staff rearranging tables for guests. The staff seemed very friendly. Everyone was buzzing around, moving fast, tending to customers and keeping an eye and ear open for customer requests -- extra napkins, guidance to where the water was, etc. I ordered the steak and eggs and my man ordered the 3 sausage omelette with a side of fruit (+$3.95 upcharge to order this instead of the toast). Both were very delicious! I am grateful they offered me a steak knife to cut my steak instead of expecting me to do it with the standard butter knife. There are two restrooms for customers. I only had experience in the small one. The music was loud but it was clean. Comforting to see a clean bathroom when washing your hands before a meal. We walked to Honey's from somewhere else nearby but I saw there is some street parking out front. There is seating both inside and outside. My only qualm was wishing for the A/C to be on as I hate swatting flies while I am eating the food I just waited in line for and for which I paid. I liked the open air vibe and the decor but the flies buzzing around my food while eating cheapened the experience. There was a heat wave in San Diego when we visited. We were in San Diego celebrating my 40th birthday so of course I needed to kick off our first morning with brunch. I'm a foodie and found Honey's on IG and the food and mimosas looked delicious. It was a little smaller than I expected so props to their marketing. It's on the Hwy 101 strip. They have a cute little area inside and then a patio area outside. You walk up to order and then find a seat and they bring you out your order. I had their pitaya mimosa and it was very tasty. I ordered the salmon Benedict with crunchy bacon, my husband ordered the chorizo Benedict and we got the banana & coconut stuffed French toast. All our food was delicious but the stuffed french toast was just amazing!!! Highly recommend it as something the table all enjoys. I thought it might be too sweet but I literally couldn't stop eating it. There's Nutella, grilled bananas inside it and it just reminded me of banana foster which I love as well. Parking- 3/10 street parking if you can find one Pitaya bowl- 4/10 had something really hard that was pebble like and inedible and almost chipped a tooth. Also came out half melted/warm as if it was sitting out but server didn't bring it to us. Salmon scramble- 10/10 would definitely order again. Generous amount of cream cheese in it so if you don't like cream cheese this is not the dish for you. El Paso eggs Benedict- 9.5/10 the pork chorizo was a little salty but for someone who isn't a chorizo fan this was really good. Would definitely order this again. Service- this is where the minus stars comes in. After ordering our food the server was non existent. We had to ask the busboy for extra plates/utensils. We didn't know we had to get up ask get our own waters, napkins and utensils as we were seated in the back of the restaurant where we didn't get to see that everything was self served. If I knew this I wouldn't have left the tip I did. Tipping- you are asked to tip as soon as you order and pay. My advice is to not tip until you're done with your meal. We didn't know this and tipped as soon as we ordered so we got virtually no service other then the food being brought to us and never seen our server again. I love their policy if grab a menu, find a seat, decide what you want, then head up to the counter to order. It makes so much more sense than the typical style or sit and wait for the server to come to you and it's super efficient! I ordered the big breakfast which comes with two eggs cooked any style, sausage or bacon, potatoes or cottage cheese or fruit, and toast. I got two eggs over hard (they were kinda crispy!) and potatoes which were amazing and the chicken sausage. The sausage was okay. Kinda dry, but overall the breakfast was good. I'd come here again. It's unbeknownst to me if this place is actually new or just "new to me" but I saw it featured on a bloggers Instagram and felt it was worthy of a try. A couple friends and I went this past Sunday and were overall pleased. One thing I didn't know beforehand or love was that it was order at the counter and they bring the food to you. This is becoming more of a trend given the current economic status and the lack of staffing so while it wasn't my favorite, it wouldn't deter me from going back. After waiting a longer than desirable time to order, we were pleased with how efficient and knowledgeable the cashier was; we had a lengthy order and she got everything correct and read it back which was great. The bloody Mary's looked fantastic but unfortunately by the time we got to order they had run out of vodka so we opted for mimosas which also looked really refreshing and came with great garnishes. We were a little confused as to whether we could order more drinks after finishing the ones we initially got so I opted for a bottle of champagne so we could do our own refills- the price was kind of steep for a bottle of Cook's ($22) and the juices were an additional $1.50 each. Fortunately the food was moderately priced and delicious. I got the lobster Benedict, a friend got the steak Benedict and my other friend got the mahi mahi sandwich. Came by at 1pm on a holiday weekend Saturday and was pleasantly surprised there was no line to order, and there was plenty of seating open and available outside on the patio! My partner and I opted for the breakfast menu and ordered an ABC quesadilla and their homemade corned beef hash. I came here for breakfast this morning for the first time in many years, and upon first glance this place was just as popular as ever. The line was out the door to order (you order before you sit down), but it didn't take too long despite that. Their menu has many options to choose from, I had a hard time picking because everything sounded so good! I ended up going with the Italian omelette with sun dried tomatoes, spinach, and mozzarella cheese. It was pretty good, although could use some more seasonings, and maybe a little extra salsa. Otherwise I can't complain. Portions were pretty standard, and I didn't leave hungry so that was nice! Parking can be tricky here since it's all street parking and it gets busy, so I suggest parking on one of the side streets and walking if you can't find anything. It's just what you would expect from a lil' beach town brekky spot Honey's was renovated in the last couple of years and now has a more upscale, trendy vibe. Since the renovation, they decreased the amount of pastries they serve which is a bummer because they had THE BEST carrot walnut bran muffin (surprising right?!) which led me to my 4 star review because I loved that muff. Also, the multigrain pancake just wasn't spectacular. It was pretty dry and and too heavy on the cinnamon - it needed a lot of help from a pancakes best pal, maple syrup. Nonetheless, the food is generally still great. Eggs are cooked perfectly soft, the produce and baked goods are super fresh, the wait staff is helpful and attentive, yet chill (as one would expect in CA), and the coffee is plentiful and served with an array of fixings (stevia as well as oat & almond milk on tap). My birthday falls on July 4th which I know is already a busy day (I used to work at a restaurant, I worked Valentines day) and I know the struggle! However the service lacked and this place just isn't what it used to be anymore. It's completely lost its charm and friendly atmosphere. The food was great - no argument there. When I called 2 weeks ago to make the reservation, I was never told about needing to put down a credit card for a reservation. At all. The host didn't seem to know what he was doing so it was miscommunication on his end, but then it ended up faulting me + my party. And again, used to work at a restaurant so if I were told this, I would've done it without any hesitation. Was never told I would have to call and confirm (which my sister did yesterday anyway!!) but when I called the morning of to change the number of people attending, the manager otp was very passive in letting me know I never called to confirm and I never gave them a credit card. I told her nobody told me about a CC and my sister called to confirm and she replied with "yep but you never called back about it" ... ? I don't understand and the host never ever relayed any of this to me. She also said she would try her best to arrange a table if she could last minute and that there would be a 22% gratuity added to the party and no need to order at the counter since there would be a server. She ended up telling us to order at the counter after we sat there for 15 minutes with no service, no menus, silverware or water. Very confusing. Upon arrival as well (got there 15 minutes early) she was not super friendly (which again I understand it's a busy day, but still!). I'm usually very patient and understanding and never ever want to be a Karen in restaurant settings since I know how it can be, but for my birthday it was really disappointing. Pains me to write this review because I had a wonderful experience last year but unfortunately won't make my birthday brunch reservations here again. Good food though!! read more

This place is so rad! Near the beach and super delicious. I went here for their Valentine's Day special. I got their strawberry cotton candy mimosa and it was so sweet and yummy. The vibe is so cute, we sat outside and it was nice and refreshing. The service was easy! We ordered at the front desk, was given a number and food was delivered quickly. I redownloaded the Yelp app just to write this review because of how bad the service was. I came here on the weekend with four other friends. Everything ordered was wrong: 1) they didn't bring the yogurt for my friend's fruit and granola 2) they forgot the bacon that I ordered as a side for my waffle (which also came out WAY later than the other dishes) 3) no butter was brought for the pancake. Things that were weird: 1) they left the BROWN banana peel on my banana french toast 2) the orange juice tasted like they chopped the oranges on the same cutting board as garlic and onions. Whenever we told someone we were missing something, they made us pay more (even though they got it WRONG to begin with at the register). They don't have many servers compared to the amount of people at a typical brunch restaurant. The only good thing I have to say is the food was alright, but the bad service was enough to make me never want to come back. And to put the cherry on top, for the customer service at a place called "Honeys," they really wanted to take advantage of their sweetness by starting their tip options at 20%. I actually ended up eating the fruits before my salad (a win win in my opinion). I opted for their homemade poppy seed dressing and I definitely don't regret it! It was so creamy and sweet! The ahi tuna was seared just perfectly. The portions are rather huge. I actually ate all my salad before I finished the tuna. This entire salad was so delicious. I was here during the week with my daughters and we ordered the California scramble, the Italian omelette and the veggie omelette.all of them were pretty good but not as good as I remembered. Portion sizes have gotten smaller and what used to be a generous portion of potatoes along with your omelette, now was just a very small portion. There wasn't really much in the way of veggies either, I had the veggie omelette and honestly seemed like I didn't even get all the veggies listed on the menu and it was pretty bland at that.
