Donuts dough was really great and had a delightful chewy texture. The glazes were a little too sweet for my taste but the chocolate glaze was on point. One of the best mom and pop donut shops I've been to in San Diego, and I've been to donut bar, sidecar, rose, copper top, TK's, Winchells, you name it, I've been to most of the donut shops in the city. I love my donuts. And I love this shop. Favorite go to is their cronut (croissant donut), the icing is light and not too sweet, and they have oh so many flaky crispy layers in their cronut that's super crispy on the outside and soft, light, and airy on the inside. Most of the time I have a good experience and most of the employees including the owner are awesome and are great to do business with and have great customer service and I love their products just as much. But there is this one female employee that works there that has somewhat of a bad attitude and it makes my experience there terrible, for example if you want to customize an order or add something to your order when getting ready to pay she seems like it's a huge deal and does not want to do it but she does it like she has to because that her job, every other employee is great and I do not remember the name of this employee with the attitude yet but this makes me want to do business with another company like the coffee corner on Carlton hills, they have great coffee and cheaper prices. Found this place in the middle of the night after moving back to California. Was greeted promptly as we entered. Store was clean and the shelves were full of donuts at about 2am. Cashier was friendly and patient as we selected our donuts. Everything was fresh and delicious. We will definitely be coming back. Nice little 24 hour donut place if you're looking for a sweet treat. The first time I went here I was in absolute awe with how many things they have. Donuts (of course), Thrifty ice cream, sandwiches, croissants, and even lotto tickets!! I had never seen a sandwich at a donut place so I was a little skeptical on how good it can be. But seriously they're better than most sandwich places! I've had the roast beef a few times and the turkey once. Unbelievably good. They serve them warm which is a big plus. They even have avocado you can add. This place is low key good donut/sandwhich spot. Ive been here couple times already with my kids and they love it. Also their sandwhich is surprisingly good. The guys at my work are treated with Donuts every Monday. Unfortunately these aren't the best donuts in Santee/Lakeside area, they miss the cusp by a long shot. Its location is convenient but what makes grabbing a dozen worth while is the lady who works there on Monday mornings. It can be really busy in the morning hours but she's able to shorten any wait times with her hard work and dedication. Her attentiveness, sweet demeanor and warm smile keep me coming back. I came in at around 2 or 3 in the morning and these guys were probably tired, but somehow from the way they acted gave off the impression they had just opened shop. They were patient, and overly nice, lol, like nicer than necessary to get you in good favor. The donuts are classic, tasty, and light, airy, but still filling,-and not exceedingly sweet. Donut fiend is en route to the drive-in, ginormous Honey DONUTS sign catches the eye. Doesn't take much for me to spot a donut shop to begin with. The boyfriend and I picked up a few donuts before heading to the drive in: cinnamon roll, cinnamon sugar donut, crumb cake, and a maple cruller (you know the pretty twisted ones that's moist in the middle). All were very delicious and didn't taste old or dry at all despite being at an odd hour to get donuts.
