We enjoyed the two curries we had (Palak Paneer and Khaj Curry) so much that we even ordered some Garlic Naan afterwards to try and finish it up (it was nice of the staff to add on to our order even when it was close to closing time). Honest waste of time. Went in to order take out. One of the staff asked me to put my order through their kiosk. Did that and waited and waited and waited. For longer than 30 minutes. We checked in with the staff several times and even requested water. They kept assuring us they would. They would disappear in the kitchen come back, no food, no water, no status on the order. Finally i was pretty worked up asked another staff member to check. This person came back and said that somehow the order had reached the front desk in the computer but not their kitchen. No apologies offered just stated the fact that they would cancel the order they never received. I promised them I would never be going back to the place. This is an incredible restaurant. We got here at 9:15 PM. However, they seated us despite the closing time being 9:30 PM. We are from India so we like authentic Indian food and enjoy the vibes as well as experience along with the music that's been played, and it is surprising to see such hygienic food, and super tasty Indian food being prepared by other Indian in Los Angeles. We really enjoy that experience and we highly recommend this restaurant. We do not know why it has three stars. Had Honest catering for a birthday party. Horrible experience, will never hire again. We had 6 entrees, they ran out of 2 of them before everyone ate and blamed us for eating too much food instead of admitting they brought insufficient quantity. There was only one other party in the restaurant when we came in for lunch on a Saturday, but it still took a long time to bring our food and i had to remind our server that I had ordered a mango lassi. The lassis are prefilled in takeout cups and placed in the refrigerator case at the front so there is no reason it should have taken so long other than that she forgot to bring it. We also ordered manchow soup, which was great. The Honest sp. Grilled sandwich was delightful. It is a layered sandwich with just the right amount of flavor and Amul cheese. The paneer pakoras were also good as was the plain dosa, served with an assortment of chutneys and sambhar. It's interesting how polarizing the reviews are for this place. Not a lot of ratings in-between the extremes and it seems that my review will be one of those rare ones. Our experience was fairly positive. There was a bit of a crowd near the doors as we approached the restaurant. The hostess had us wait a few minutes after we asked to dine in for lunch. Honest has been our go to place for Indian food any where we go. Specially when we are in LA we visit this place for sure as we use to love the food. We regularly order Bhakri Pizza and buy Bhakri Pizza base as well from Honest and this time we were just given a really small pizza on Roti with very minimum amount of veggies. A friend took us here for dinner and ordered for us. They have authentic vegetarian Indian food. Our friend ordered samosas, vegetable cheese sandwich, Indian pizza, Manchurian balls and Bhaji Pav. I think my favorite dish was the Bhaji Pav because I just loved the warm butter bread dipped into the vegetable curry. My boyfriend also got a mango lassi to drink that was thick, yet refreshing. I have tried most of the Indian restaurants in LA area and this by far is the worst I have ever been to! Like I can't explain how bad the food was. They butcher Indian food like anything even after pricing is crazy high. We ordered paneer 65 , speical pav bhaji, cheese pulav . Paneer 65 was more like fried paneer on a bed of chill oil, sour cubes of paneer , overflowing oil. Nothing close to authentic of indo chinese. Pav bhaji is a joke here , bhaji was screaming diarrhea. It was so watery and unauthetic , the only special was the worn out cashews on top which I dont know how it is an add on. Chese pulav had a smell, it tasted stale , was served cold and had no taste Whatsoever. I wish they would stop fooling people . I dont know why places like this even exist. It was a warm day, they served us drinks (colas, lassi, jhas, etc.) at room temperature and warm tap water. The food was disgusting. Half our party didn't get their food till the end when the other half was already done eating. Nobody enjoyed their meal & left most of it there. On top of the waiters didn't even check in on us.. Very bad experience! Went to the restaurant today and ordered food to go. Ordered Idli Sambhar and two orders of Potato Vada. Requested extra sambhar as well. The hostess confirmed the extra sambhar I ordered. The order did not come for forty minutes. After I inquired, the waiter brought the food. However, the extra sambhar I ordered was not included. I was told I need to pay for the extra sambhar! I was disappointed with the service. Since the quantity of the sambhar was not enough, I paid the extra charge and bright the food home. This was the worst food we ever had. The Potato Vada were not fresh, they were refried. The chutneys came with the order were not enough for one order let alone the two orders. For Idli Sambhar, In place of the coconut chutney, we received sweet yoghurt! The Sambhar was tasteless not resembling an authentic South Indian sambhar at all. We threw away the Sambhar.
