TWO THUMBS UP (even though you can only see one)
Chimpin A.

Just picked up dinner here tonight - this is still one of my favorite local spots! I'm a junkie for the butter chicken and sometimes I'll try something new. They're always warm and welcoming, the food is always well prepared, the quality consistently high. My wife is more adventurous and has been trying out some vegan dishes. Can't go wrong here, everything is great and on Friday nights they do some cool stuff in the parking lot.

This spot has delicious Indian comfort food with a variety of options including healthy vegan options. The portions are really big and hearty as well. The chef was super nice and even allowed us to try a few samples before purchase. There's a small table for sit down meal but seems like many people order take out. The food comes out hot and fresh and quickly. The cabbage masala was delicious and had a yummy savory tomato flavor. It was quite spicy for me but tolerable and doesn't take away from the yummy flavor. Parking is very easy to find in the lot. No public restroom available.

Came back again because it's that good! The butter chicken and goat curry were both amazing with the garlic nan, it's always a hit trust me and the service was just as great. Definitely one of my favorite spots!

What a hidden gem, hiding under my nose for almost a year before I realized what wonders were awaiting within! :) AniKri is a small family owned and operated Indian takeout restaurant, with wonderful Mrs. Sangeetha at the helm creating fresh authentic South Indian recipes each day! From Butter Chicken (both my kids love it), to Lamb Korma (I really enjoyed this one, bone-in, but that's where the flavor and tenderness hides), along with many vegetarian dishes as well - their cauliflower and peas masala was so tasty and flavorful! If you haven't been here yet then you really owe it to yourself to stop in. Even more so if you're new to Indian cuisine as this is the perfect family friendly environment to test the waters in. When my brought my son in the last time they were more than happy to let him try samples of everything they were offering that day to help him select what he liked the most. It may have created a monster though, as he woke up and had the remaining Butter Chicken for breakfast before school. ;) We will certainly be returning, and I hope to see you there as well. :)

Onam Sadhya

The Onam Sadhya was excellent, fresh and well balanced. The owner is always warm and welcoming. Easy recommendation.

I'm so glad I found this spot during my annual trip OC! They serve some of the best Indian food with a focused menu that rotates every day, giving you reason to come back over and over to try everything that they offer. Not sure what you want? Chef Sangeetha makes you feel welcome as soon as you enter the store, offering samples to any new face that walks in or anyone who seems unsure of what they'd like to order. It's clear that she has a lot of pride in what she puts out. All recipes are her own/are passed down from her family and the taste & quality speaks for itself. On my first visit, my partner and I dined in for lunch on a Sunday and got two lunch plates; the food was so good that we were tempted to take an a-la-carte order of curry to-go even though I had planned an extensive food list for the rest of my trip. While I managed to hold off the first time, we actually came back a few days later craving some more Butter Chicken which rotated back onto the menu later in the week on Friday LOL. When we came in on Friday around 4:00 PM we saw a tent and seats setup outside the store front. Curious, we asked Chef Sangeetha if there had just been a catering event or a party that happened. That's when we learned that they sometimes host live cooking events of Friday nights from 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM where a chef will cook a rotating dish to-order right in front of you. That night, they were hosting an event and serving Kothu Parotta with veg/egg/chicken options, something I or my partner had never seen or heard of before but our interest was piqued. We decided to leave and came back around 6:00 PM for the live event and are so glad we made that decision. The Chicken Kothu Parotta was unlike any other Indian dish we had had before. It had addictive texture, almost risotto like, along with a strong fragrance and burst of flavors from the smoky wok hei, freshness from herbs, spices, raw onions, & tomatoes, and bright raita. All the flavors danced together in harmony. I encourage everyone to stop by and support this small business, especially during their live event nights. Follow their IG to see when these are happening and what the featured dish of the evening is. If you attend, come early before the line forms. Since each dish is cooked live and made to order it can get quite busy once the aunties and uncles come around, which we started to see around 6:30 PM. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in OC!

Tried this place for the first time after seeing it on Facebook and yelp of course. It did not disappoint. Service was great. So polite and friendly. Nice, clean spot. I ordered the butter chicken and shrimp masala. Did the plate that came with rice as well. So much food I couldn't finish it but it was delicious. Yes the menu changes with the specials each day so I'll be back to try something new next time.

They mentioned they change the menu, my plate had chicken.

Amaravati Indian Restaurant - Lamb Curry

Staying in the area and came across Amaravati while browsing Google Maps (because I didn't want to…read moremove my car and lose a perfectly good parking spot). This was walking distance from the hotel. I stopped by Wednesday evening after the dinner rush. Was pleasantly greeted by a friendly gal. I mentioned I wanted to order takeout. They do have a very spacious dining room, but I wanted to get back to my hotel room before dark since I was walking. I had already pre-browsed their Yelp page for dinner ideas - so opted for an order of Butter Chicken (which comes with a side of rice), and an order of Garlic Naan. Requested the butter chicken to be mild (or "as mild as possible"). Wait wasn't too long, there was another order ahead of me. My takeout order was well packaged - everything in its own container/wrapper to ensure they stayed hot and fresh. The delicious aroma was tantalizing on my brief walk back to the hotel. Holy moly. I'm no expert on Indian food - but everything tasted amazing! The garlic naan was hands down the best garlic naan I've ever had. It was warm, fresh, crispy in all the right places, and tasted equally great on its own - as well as dipped into the rich and creamy butter chicken sauce. The side of rice is perfect for one person - and the butter chicken had generous cuts of tender, delicious chicken. Spice level still had a kick to it - but it was manageable. Prices are fair considering the area, and quality of the dishes. Friendly and attentive service! I'm honestly contemplating coming back on my last day in the area for another round of dinner - I'll probably opt for a mango lassi next time to help balance out the spice. Like seriously considering going back here tomorrow night. All the portions were perfect - not too overwhelming, and I finished every last drop - saved some sauce to enjoy my last layer of garlic naan. Honestly, if it wasn't so far away from "home" - Amaravati would be my favorite / go-to Indian food restaurant from here on out. Plenty of parking spots at the time I went - but the stalls are kinda tiny. Luckily, I'm staying nearby, so within walking distance and didn't have to worry about parking.

Yum! What a great find in this area!…read more All the items we ordered were delicious. The paneer tikka masala was flavorful and creamy, the chili chicken was spicy, perfectly seasoned, and the chicken wasn't tough or rubbery. The samosas were excellent and came with both styles of chutney. Our order also came with a small side of rice which we appreciated. My only critique would be that the garlic naan was a bit flat and bland, but the former could be because it just didn't transport well since we ordered takeout. Overall, would highly recommend this spot and it holds its own against some of the more established spots in Artesia, Long Beach, etc.!

Their second location in LA is in Hawaiian Gardens. Gorgeous interior, perfect place for a date or gathering. They have large spaces and private areas inside. The food was delicious and so are their mocktails!! Wowww I was very impressed with the double smoked apple cocktail and highly recommend trying it. All their dishes are made with so much detail. And, many of the dishes have a very visual interactive moment like their table side bhel puri, puri, or their chicken biriyani and smoked beef. From modern authentic dishes to street food they have it all. The sloppy khans were also delicious! I really enjoyed their curry dishes with the garlic naan. They have so many dishes to try! I cannot wait to come back to try their butter chicken and paneer as well! For dessert we tried their rose milk cake and the chocolate samosas. Both were satisfying and the milk cake felt really special. Huge thank you to Ali, who has such a vibrant energy about him!!!!! He really added to the wonderful experience and helps us appreciate all the details and background of the dishes as well! Cannot rave about him enough. Definitely made the experience special for us! The larger, open space was a huge plus compared to the more compact Fullerton location, and the new items like chapli kebabs and different karahi variations were refreshing. This easily could have become our favorite location. Unfortunately, since Shor rebranded as Khan Saab, the overall experience seems to have gone downhill. The staff themselves are always nice, genuine, and willing to help, but once the restaurant gets even a little busy, they seem overwhelmed and clearly understaffed. Compared to the original Fullerton location, especially when more of the familiar OG staff were there, the service does not feel as polished or consistent. Our last visit was particularly disappointing. We ordered chicken karahi, chicken tikka masala, biryani, and bhel puri. The bhel puri was extremely dry with very little sauce and tasted poorly balanced. Nearly everything else, including the biryani, karahi, and tikka masala, was overly salty. The chicken karahi was the biggest disappointment. It is usually one of my go-to dishes at Khan Saab, but this time it barely tasted like karahi and was more like a generic curry. I understand this location does not offer boneless karahi, which is completely fine, but the flavor and quality should still be consistent. This location has so much potential because of the space and the Khan Saab name, but the consistency in both food and service just isn't there right now. I'll probably avoid this location for a while and hope ownership and Chef Ali Mookhi take notice and bring the standards back up.

Very high end and fancy looking on the inside. Perfect for a date night. Excellent and fun customer…read moreservice. Also love that their restaurant has the tag "unauthentic Indian food" to it. Very intriguing and attention grabbing! Got us for sure! We did free street parking right in front and there were a couple other parties aside from us in the restaurant, but our food came out quite efficiently and we had more than enough for 2 people and we were able to take some home as leftovers to eat later. The bar area is GORGEOUS, the way they display their alcohol looks super glamorous. Perfect backdrop for photos, especially if you wanted like a Hollywood or Great Gatsby kind of thing. Actually, the booth seating was the tallest booth seating that I've ever sat at, which was neat in it's own way too. For our dinner, we got the: 1) Cali Chilli Powerhouse: -This is a zero proof drink. It's a milk blended almonds, pistachio, chia seeds, saffron and green cardamom. -Super rich smoothie like shake. Quite sweet and more of a dessert than anything, but if you like pistachio and almond, this is a very delicious drink. Very smooth and milky. Great to balance out the savory. 2) Pani Puri Poppers: -These are puffed puri bites and we got this half and half with charred chicken and potatoes. Underneath the puffed puri bites were shot glasses filled with mango and coconut, mint and cilantro, and yogurt and ginger dressing dressing. You pour the dressing into the bite and then shove it in your mouth and enjoy! -I've had something similar before at a different Indian restaurant, but I enjoyed it here much more. Dressings weren't overpoweringly sour like I've had at other places. Very refreshing dressings that went great with the protein/carb fillings. Love the crunch of the puff puri. My favorite was the mango coconut. I love the fruity sweetness with the savory. 3) Cali Chilli Pot Pie: -You get to choose your protein and we chose the lamb rogan josh as we got chicken for our other dish. -Comes out SUPER hot. Even towards the end of our meal, the dish was still steaming hot, but it's super unique and delicious. -The pie crust is mostly just the top of the dish and the rest is curry stew and protein below. Super tender lamb meat and flavorful curry. Nice kick, savory depth of flavor and spices. The pie bread part was moist, tender, top was flaky and delicious. A must. 4) Hariyali Chicken Boti Kebab: -This is part of their limited run Long Beach Food Scene Week menu. -It's a Tandoor (clay oven) combo meal made in an authentic tandoor, making the chicken smoky and slightly charred on the outside, and moist, juicy, and tender on the inside. -This dish comes with a choice of carb and salad, so we got the saffron ghee rice with the Cali Chilli Curry Sauce and the Citrus salad. -Delicious mint and yogurt taste to the chicken, both refreshingly sour and creamy, but herbal as well. There's a kick from the green chilies too, making it a great diverse dish of flavors and textures. I don't drink, so I can't really comment on the quality and taste, but the preparation for my boyfriend's drink was super cool. They used fire and poured it here and there. Truly a dinner and a show. The blue of the fire was super neat and great for videos and photos. Thank you for that! Will definitely come again.

Again I did enjoy the food, but the experience wasn't at all enjoyable. frequently checked in with other tables, rarely checked in with me. This place is often busy and for good reason, their food is good, like really really good. The staff does a good job keeping up with everyone, and the food comes out relatively quickly even on busy days, given how many people they are serving. The hardest part about this place is the parking. It's to no fault of the restaurant's - it's just a really small shopping center that happens to have a fee popular spots, so it is always packed. They have a call button at each table which grabs the wait staffs attention which is helpful. Stopped by here on a Friday afternoon and the restaurant was pretty empty. They had 3 wait staff working, but they didn't pay much attention to us despite being the only ones in there. The waiter who took out initial order did help out with initial suggestions though, but didn't go into depth about the dishes-just told us what's popular. Ordered the Mandi lamb and the waiter suggested the chicken dish as it was boneless and had a different taste than the Mandi lamb. Small thing to note here- they don't provide water and charge $2.00 for a bottle. Our meal of 2 dishes, a water, and a karak chai came out to $80.00 which is pretty much expensive in my opinion. Most of their main dishes cost $30.00 but are meant to be shared. The Mandi lamb was good! Nothing extraordinary, but the meat was very tender and juicy. It didn''t have any distinct flavor, but did have the slightest tinge of "gamey lamb" taste still. The rice was super flavorful however and not too greasy which I liked. Overall would recommend ending up here if you're looking to splurge, with a big group of people and in the area.

They were still tasty, but honestly tasted more like fried chicken with herbs and a side of sweet & sour sauce. I didn't really get any tom yum flavor, so the dish didn't quite live up to its name. Overall, everything was delicious aside from the wings not being what I expected. Definitely recommend giving Coconut Rabbit a try, and I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!

Good Thai Food, Service Could Be More Attentive…read more Visited: August 4, 2026 Location: Coconut Rabbit Thai Bistro, 4280 Katella Ave., Los Alamitos, CA 90720 We recently had dinner at Coconut Rabbit Thai Bistro and overall had a decent experience. The Pad Thai with chicken ($17) was one of the better dishes we tried--good flavor and nicely prepared. The cream cheese wontons ($11) were also very good and probably one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the coconut dumplings ($14), spicy edamame ($7), pineapple fried rice ($19), garlic pepper beef ($19), and pumpkin curry with shrimp ($22). Everything else was okay, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. We also had two Thai iced teas ($12 total). The biggest drawback was the service. It wasn't bad, but it was definitely not very attentive. We would have appreciated the server checking on the table more often, especially during the meal. Our total was $121 before tax, plus $11.19 tax, bringing the bill to $132.19 before tip. Overall, I'd give Coconut Rabbit 3.5 stars. The Pad Thai and cream cheese wontons were the standouts, while the rest of the food was average. With more attentive service and a little more consistency across the dishes, this could easily be a four-star experience.
