It was love at first bite. My wife and I stumbled on this hidden gem a couple weeks back. A fish coconut curry, lamb chops, and palak paneer later, we were charmed. They have a self-serve station for chai and coffee, which was a nice addition to the meal. The plate comes with the entree, rice, salad, and a mung bean side dish. They also provide naan and a small dessert. Their garlic naan is amazing and I've truly missed it since I last had their buffet. While it's not refillable, the rice is, if you're feeling that the portions aren't enough. While the parking lot for The India Restaurant was small, we managed to find a spot fairly easily. As soon as we walked in, we noticed the lovely and stately decor. The interior is bright and refined, with friendly service. Papadam and both mint and tamarind chutneys were brought to the table shortly after being seated. Prices are quite fair and we ordered samosas, butter chicken, bengan bharta (eggplant), lentil soup, and garlic naan. Entrees are served with rice, which can be refilled. While all of the food was solid and tasty, I also did not find anything extraordinary. Food was good when it came out after approximately 45 minutes- 1 hour of waiting. The restaurant was busy when we walked in around 8pm but most people were finishing up and getting their checks. We ordered and didn't get our food until closer to 9pm. We did get the mango lassi and samosas maybe around 8:20 but the main dishes took way too long. Another table got there maybe 15 minutes after us and got their food before us!! Maybe around 8:40, they were almost done by the time we got our food. We had a party of nine for our group Christmas dinner. The ambiance and food were wonderful, and everyone was happy--until the very end. The bill was handwritten rather than processed through the cashier system, which was unusual but acceptable. However, they added an 18% tip, which we would have been fine with, except it was calculated on the total amount including sales tax. We politely pointed this out, but they refused to correct it. Not wanting to argue, we paid and left. Unfortunately, their attitude toward customers was disappointing. The sauce for the butter chicken was hearty and comforting and just *chefs kiss*. They let you customize the spice levels and I got the spiciest level, which wasn't as spicy as I expected it to be, but it was still really enjoyable. The garlic naan was the perfect complement to the butter chicken and it just went so darn well dipped in its sauce. As requested by our son, we had lunch here to celebrate his 17th birthday. He loves Indian cuisine, and this is the perfect setting to celebrate his special day. We have been here before eight years ago, and I believe they have extensively remodeled their interior. It looks even more upscale than before. The chandeliers! The food tasted exquisite, and the butter chicken was rich and creamy. The saag paneer was also smooth and delicious. I even tried their okra, and it was well seasoned and refreshing. Their service was exception and extremely attentive. We never had a chance to completely empty our water glass because it was constantly refilled. Vegetarian samosas are large with a rustic crisp crust, not at all greasy and elegantly spiced potatoes spotted with peas throughout - perfect with tamarind dipping sauce. The lamb curry was good, not great - heavy on garlic, appropriately spiced, but under seasoned with lamb on the tough side in a thinner sauce. Garlic naan was beautifully toasted but light on flavor - good backdrop for a dish but unimpressive stand-alone. I will follow the house recommendation to have the Marsala next time. First of all, this is one of my family's favorite restaurants. We go here all the time and constantly take visitors here. Service is great and food is incredible. It looks like recently they have offered DoorDash. Thought I would try it for the first time, since getting out of the house to the restaurant was going to be difficult. I Ordered one Jeera Aloo, one Veggie Manchurian, and 1 garlic Naan. Specified that this was to be made completely mild with no spiciness at all. No extra chilis to be added to anything. After I placed the order on DoorDash, I called the restaurant to confirm the special order and they agreed. A few minutes later, a gentleman called me to tell me that he would give the Manchurian balls and sauce separately so they don't get soggy. Assured me of the no spice. I felt really great after that call. Got the food and the Manchurian was SO SO Spicy. More than I have ever had. Could not even eat 1. Called the restaurant, and at first was told this was the mildest it can be made. Told him I go there all the time for this specific dish, and it is always made mild without extra chilli seeds. Spoke with gentleman named Kussal, who took down my information from the delivery and asked me to come in anytime and he will make the Manchurian again and make sure it is mild.
