Visited Coconut Rabbit on a Friday evening with my family and mom. We originally chose this place because of the great reviews, and I have to say--it definitely lived up to the hype! Service was fast and efficient. Ambiance was great, clean and friendly. This is easily one of the best Thai restaurants I've tried. The flavors are bold, savory, and packed with umami. From the first bite, you get this delicious combination of tamarind and savory flavors that really stands out. What we ordered: * Pad Thai: By far my favorite. Easily one of the best Pad Thai dishes I've had--so flavorful and well-balanced. * Blue Crab Fried Rice: Great flavor and really enjoyable. * Pad See Ew: Good, especially if you're craving thick, chewy noodles, although it was a little on the salty side. * Tom Yum Chicken Wings: My least favorite. They were still tasty, but honestly tasted more like fried chicken with herbs and a side of sweet & sour sauce. I didn't really get any tom yum flavor, so the dish didn't quite live up to its name. Overall, everything was delicious aside from the wings not being what I expected. Definitely recommend giving Coconut Rabbit a try, and I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu! read more

Good Thai Food, Service Could Be More Attentive Visited: August 4, 2026 Location: Coconut Rabbit Thai Bistro, 4280 Katella Ave., Los Alamitos, CA 90720 We recently had dinner at Coconut Rabbit Thai Bistro and overall had a decent experience. The Pad Thai with chicken ($17) was one of the better dishes we tried--good flavor and nicely prepared. The cream cheese wontons ($11) were also very good and probably one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the coconut dumplings ($14), spicy edamame ($7), pineapple fried rice ($19), garlic pepper beef ($19), and pumpkin curry with shrimp ($22). Everything else was okay, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. We also had two Thai iced teas ($12 total). The biggest drawback was the service. It wasn't bad, but it was definitely not very attentive. We would have appreciated the server checking on the table more often, especially during the meal. Our total was $121 before tax, plus $11.19 tax, bringing the bill to $132.19 before tip. Overall, I'd give Coconut Rabbit 3.5 stars. The Pad Thai and cream cheese wontons were the standouts, while the rest of the food was average. With more attentive service and a little more consistency across the dishes, this could easily be a four-star experience. read more

Don't hesitate to eat here. Great Thai restaurant hidden in a roadside complex where all the businesses look the same. There's even a hidden 7-eleven in there. On my way to my hotel, looking for a dinner spot, the name caught my eye. I decided to double back and was the best decision I had made all day. Single dining room restaurant with friendly polite young staff. One double-sided menu makes it easy for ordering. This evening, I ordered Thai Iced Tea, Massaman short rib curry, and the coconut rabbit dumplings. The coconut rabbit dumplings were over the top good! Uniquely prepared fried dumplings filled with ground seasoned meat and skewered on a tiny wooden pick with cucumber, papaya or mango, pepper relish was amazing. This is reason enough to dine here! The Thai iced tea was perfect. The Massaman curry was done right and with short rib meat was absolutely delicious. I think I would try it with pork next time. But if there is a next time, I probably would try their green curry. It was a tough choice. But I didn't regret my decision. This was my first visit, but not my last. read more

It's been a while, but it's just as good as the first time I visited this place. Even when they're not busy in the restaurant, you can tell they are with their over the phone orders. The ambience is calm with low lit lights . It's a cozy environment even without the cushions. They haven't lost their hidden gem perception. note: not a fan of curry , but they have and serve delicious curry. read more

I had this place bookmarked for the longest time. Finally tried it yesterday. Nothing really hit the spot. Somehow, everything was a tad too sweet. The pad see ewe was pretty sweet in my opinion. Especially, there wasn't much noodles. The noodles were like little pieces. So difficult to eat. I think it would have tasted a lot better if the noodles were noodles instead of crumbs. Tofu was ok and the greens were ok. The coconut rabbit dumplings were ok. A little bit too tangy and sweet. Not my type of dumplings. The Thai lime tea was ok. A little too sweet as well, but it was good. Service was ok. I don't think I will return unless someone I know wanna try it. read more

I came here once many years ago, and all I remembered was that the portions were on the smaller side. Fast forward to this weekend,I was in the area and found this to be the only restaurant around that wasn't packed. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai, and while the color looked a bit pale compared to other places, it turned out to be the lightest yet most flavorful Pad Thai I've ever had. Not greasy at all, and the chicken tasted like the good-quality kind I usually only get when I cook at home. The Crying Tiger, however, was a huge letdown--bland in flavor and the steak was so dry it was a workout to chew. The interior has a more upscale vibe compared to most Thai restaurants. what I appreciated, especially the generous space between tables. read more

I've only eaten inside once, but the service was very good for our party of 8. My other visits have been take-out orders. Food is always fresh and yummy. I would highly recommend this restaurant!! read more

This place is decent! The noodle and curry dishes we got (pictured) were soooo flavorful. I will say, the curry is on the more watery side, as opposed to being creamy. Nothing wrong with that, just be aware in case of preference. The drinks (pictured) were good too! Stopped by on a week night and it wasn't too crowded, so we were served immediately. The staff is helpful, and the interior is clean and decorated. Located within a plaza surrounded by other businesses and ample parking. read more

When we used to live in the Los Alamitos area, The Coconut Rabbit was one of our absolute go-to spots and we ordered from here all the time. There are certain dishes we get every single time because they're just that good. The spicy garlic edamame is always a must. We also love the chicken yellow curry, the wonton soup, and the shrimp pad Thai, which always has the perfect balance of flavor. Another favorite is the blue crab fried rice, which is incredible. We also enjoy the shrimp fried rice, but we usually end up ordering the blue crab fried rice because it's so good. The beef pad see ewe is another dish we come back to again and again. And of course we always order the Thai iced tea, which is absolutely delicious and the perfect pairing with the meal. Before they expanded their sit-down restaurant, we ordered delivery from them all the time, and what really stood out was that their own team delivers the food. It's not a third-party service. They are always so kind, make sure you have everything you need, and the food is always packaged carefully and arrives in great condition. Now that they've expanded and have their sit-down restaurant, we actually drive from North Orange County just to come eat here, which says a lot about how much we love this place. You can truly feel the care and love that goes into the food, and you can taste it too. The service is always warm and welcoming, and it's easy to see why they've become such a local favorite. This place is absolutely all-star and we'll continue coming back again and again read more

Coconut Rabbit - Pad Thai Shrimp - Thai Near Me - Los Alamitos, California

This Thai spot is low-key one of the best in town. You walk in, and there's never a wait--almost suspiciously so. It's clean, efficient, and has all the staples: papaya salad, tom kha noodle soup, drunken noodles, crispy chicken wings. The kind of menu that reads like a greatest hits album. And the food? Genuinely impressive. The flavors are bold, balanced, and taste like they came straight from a Bangkok street stall. Whoever's behind the scenes clearly knows their way around Thai cuisine, because everything comes out consistently delicious. Service is fast, prices are fair, and there's even a parking lot--which feels like hitting the jackpot around here. But the real reason I keep coming back? The coconut ice cream with mango. It's rich, refreshing, and absolutely deserves a chef's kiss. I'd make a detour just for that. If you're looking for reliable, flavorful Thai food in a laid-back spot, this place is a winner. read more

This is the cutest little restaurant, the people working here are always so friendly, and the food is always delicious! We always order way too much food here and never regret it. Highly recommend! read more

Thai food that's so good, it will keep you coming for more! We have been here a few times and love everything we order. Located in a shopping center in the city of Los Alamitos, near the Doh-Nut Hut, the Coconut Rabbit is a Thai Restaurant that looks good from the outside and tastes good on the inside. Coconut Rabbit has many specialities such as the Short Rib Panang Curry and Jungle Noodles. I also enjoyed the flavors and textures of the Pumpkin Chicken Red Curry which had a sweet mild heat. The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean and modern. So if you are looking for a place to eat Thai food in Los Alamitos, then hop on over to Coconut Rabbit and enjoy! read more

Got introduced to this place by my coworker! As soon as I walk in, the place is very nice! Bathroom is clean and liked the forest theme of the place. Even I ordered the Pad Thai. I was expecting something regular but this offered something different. The Pad Thai tasted light and healthy, very unique and different flavors from the usual type of Pad Thai I have tried in the past. I also tried some of my coworkers food and also very delicious. 9/10! read more

Excellent Thai food. I love their beef Pad See Ew noodles and Pad Thai. They don't dump tons of sugar like some other Thai restaurants do so I appreciate that. Their pumpkin curry is delicious! I have not tried anything that I don't like. And I love their condiments tray. Awesome menu. The customer service is super friendly each and every time. The ambiance is clean. It's a smaller restaurant so sometimes there is a wait but it's worth it. read more

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 We haven't tried out too many Thai restaurants, but this is hands down the best one we've been to!! We ordered a yellow curry dish that I wanted to drink up like soup - it was that tasty. We also got the most flavorful pad see ew dish we'd ever had. To be honest, many pad see ew dishes I've ordered in the past have been lackluster and dry. This was the opposite, and my husband and I fought for the last bite! We had a shorter lunch break that day, but food came out quickly and piping hot. read more

Coconut Rabbit is a Thai restaurant located in a strip mall attached to Katella Deli, Bakery, and Restaurant. A friend and I came here on a weeknight for dinner. We got there a few minutes after they opened. We were greeted upon entering and immediately seated. My friend ordered the Green Curry with chicken and substituted the Crispy Roti Prata for thr rice. I got the Tom Kha Noodle Soup with chicken and an order of the Jungle Noodles with chicken to go. Our food came quickly. The Tom Kha was so good -- warm and comforting which is perfect for a chilly evening. It was creamy from the coconut milk and had a slight kick. Would have liked more spice, but I enjoyed it the way it was. It was also packed with chicken, mushrooms, and noodles which is a plus. I tried a piece of my friend's Roti Prata and it was amazing -- crispy, buttery, and flaky. It was the best Roti Prata I have had in a while. Would definitely get a side order of that in the future if not substituting it for rice. Overall, giving Coconut Rabbit a 5/5. Service was great. The staff are kind and attentive. The space is a good balance of traditional and modern, with high ceilings and bright lights. The food is delicious and good value for the price. Would highly recommend to others looking for Thai food or a new place to try. Definitely will come back to try other dishes. read more

Honestly, I came by because I thought that the coconut rabbit dumplings had rabbit meat in them not realizing that it's just the restaurant name haha. My brain was not working at the time; but the food was decent. My grandpa enjoyed the chicken larb a lot. The larb was warm, which I don't prefer because I'm used to it being served cold. The dumplings were alright in my opinion; I didn't like the sweet & sour sauce they use. I did, however, enjoy the pad see ew a lot as it was well balanced. The portions were smaller than I expected but it was a perfect amount for us 3 who were moderately hungry. read more

Aloha! Hands down, this place is AMAZING. I know, I know, Pad Thai is a bit basic, but when it's this delicious? I'm ALL in. I love a good chicken Pad Thai, and this spot did NOT disappoint. Now, parking is a little tight. It's in a busy plaza, so definitely expect a little hunt for a spot. But once you're inside, the vibe is on point! It's spacious with super cute seating, and the decor? Minimalist but totally chic and clean. I came in solo, but the tables are mostly set up for groups. The ambiance is everything , super relaxed, yet modern. Now, the food. Oh my goodness, so fresh! The flavors were spot on, and the portion size? Perfect. I was so full after my Pad Thai (plus a little bit of soda. should've just gone with water and lime!). I think I waited about 15 mins max to get my food post order. A bit on the pricier side, but totally worth it. My solo lunch ended up being $20 and change; which is a little steep for a regular lunch, but hey, it was SO worth it. Plus, no leftovers, so I guess that means I'm just really satisfied, right? Definitely coming back, but maybe I'll skip the soda next time -- it's all about that good, fresh Pad Thai! read more

I was at a holiday gathering in the area, and my friends decided to get Thai takeout for dinner. We chose Coconut Rabbit because it was a short drive away and the wait time was reasonable. Online ordering is available here: https://www.coconutrabbitca.smiledining.com This restaurant is located in a two story strip mall along Katella. You will find them on the ground level between Mish Esthetics and The UPS Store. Parking wasn't too challenging, considering the amount of businesses here. There's an adequate amount of seating inside if you're planning to dine-in instead. Their menu has a good variety of appetizers, noodle dishes, apps, salads, soups, curries, beverages, and rice dishes. Gluten free and vegetarian options available. For dessert you can get fried bananas, mango sticky rice, and sweet roti. Our order was ready for pick up after 20 minutes. We had: Yellow Curry - Slightly spicy combination of caramelized onions, shallots, peas, carrots, potatoes, turmeric, and coconut milk. Flavorful! Fried Rice - Chicken, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, and more. Solid side option. Pad See Ew - Savory! Ratio of noodles to protein to vegetables were spot on. Pad Thai - I'm not a fan in general so I skipped this one. But everyone else enjoyed it. Roti - Round flatbread, cut into eight pizza shaped pieces. Crispy, greasy goodness! Tasty but certainly oily. Portion sizes are good, we ate a lot and still had some left over! I recommend. read more

I wish I could do a 3.5 stars! Shrimp tom yum - was a bit sweet and not very spicy (despite ordering a medium spice). Pretty good flavor but needed a bit more! Yellow curry - my friend had this and I didn't try, so can't say as much. Cute presentation, but she also said it wasn't spicy at all despite ordering a higher spicy level. Might be a pro to some people, just something to note. Shrimp papaya salad - absolutely DELICIOUS! My first time trying papaya salad and it was refreshing and light! Savory, tart, and a bit sweet. Would definitely get again. Staff seated us quickly and was very attentive! This spot is definitely lowkey and worth a shot, but I wouldn't say this is the best Thai spot in the LB/Los Al area (and there are MANY). read more

Cute spot with attentive waitresses. Food was good. We had the Coconut Rabbit Dumplings, Wontons, Pad See Ew and Pineapple Fried Rice.

Fiancé And I decided to try this Thai restaurant on one of our regular Friday date nights. The food and flavors were elevated but very authentic, fresh ingredients and great service. Our server was fast, polite and friendly. We both got panang curry: salmon for me and my fiancé got the short rib. For the appetizer we got chicken spring rolls. Everything was really good. The sauce for the rolls were yummy. Oh I also forgot, I got a Thai ice coffee. Sooo good. Food was plated very elegantly. The only thing is that I felt it was a bit too pricey. However, given the demographic and location, I get it. I am just unsure if the pricing makes sense since you can drive 15-20 mins to garden grove area for cheaper also authentic Thai food. That being said, I think I might come here again if I were to take friends or family from out of town visiting. read more

We were visiting from Las Vegas and came across Coconut Rabbit while looking for a good lunch spot. Even though it was a holiday weekend, the restaurant wasn't busy, and we were greeted warmly and seated right away. Service was quick -- drinks came out immediately, and even the water tasted fresh. My kids ordered Thai Teas, my wife had an iced Jasmine Tea, and everything was refreshing and delicious. For food, we ordered two Chicken Satays with rice, Yellow Curry with chicken, and Beef Pad See Ew. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly cooked -- my family devoured everything, and I was secretly hoping for leftovers, but the food was too good to leave behind! On the drive home, my kids said they wished we had Coconut Rabbit in Las Vegas. Honestly, this was the best meal of our short California trip and one we'll definitely remember. Thank you to the team for the warm hospitality and for serving food that brought back childhood memories. We'll absolutely be back on our next visit to California! read more
