On my way to my hotel, looking for a dinner spot, the name caught my eye. I decided to double back and was the best decision I had made all day. Single dining room restaurant with friendly polite young staff. One double-sided menu makes it easy for ordering. This evening, I ordered Thai Iced Tea, Massaman short rib curry, and the coconut rabbit dumplings. The coconut rabbit dumplings were over the top good! Uniquely prepared fried dumplings filled with ground seasoned meat and skewered on a tiny wooden pick with cucumber, papaya or mango, pepper relish was amazing. This is reason enough to dine here! The Thai iced tea was perfect. The Massaman curry was done right and with short rib meat was absolutely delicious. I think I would try it with pork next time. But if there is a next time, I probably would try their green curry. It was a tough choice. But I didn't regret my decision. This was my first visit, but not my last. read more

Good Thai Food, Service Could Be More Attentive Visited: August 4, 2026 Location: Coconut Rabbit Thai Bistro, 4280 Katella Ave., Los Alamitos, CA 90720 We recently had dinner at Coconut Rabbit Thai Bistro and overall had a decent experience. The Pad Thai with chicken ($17) was one of the better dishes we tried--good flavor and nicely prepared. The cream cheese wontons ($11) were also very good and probably one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the coconut dumplings ($14), spicy edamame ($7), pineapple fried rice ($19), garlic pepper beef ($19), and pumpkin curry with shrimp ($22). Everything else was okay, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. We also had two Thai iced teas ($12 total). The biggest drawback was the service. It wasn't bad, but it was definitely not very attentive. We would have appreciated the server checking on the table more often, especially during the meal. Our total was $121 before tax, plus $11.19 tax, bringing the bill to $132.19 before tip. Overall, I'd give Coconut Rabbit 3.5 stars. The Pad Thai and cream cheese wontons were the standouts, while the rest of the food was average. With more attentive service and a little more consistency across the dishes, this could easily be a four-star experience. read more

There are certain dishes we get every single time because they're just that good. The spicy garlic edamame is always a must. We also love the chicken yellow curry, the wonton soup, and the shrimp pad Thai, which always has the perfect balance of flavor. Another favorite is the blue crab fried rice, which is incredible. We also enjoy the shrimp fried rice, but we usually end up ordering the blue crab fried rice because it's so good. The beef pad see ewe is another dish we come back to again and again. Before they expanded their sit-down restaurant, we ordered delivery from them all the time, and what really stood out was that their own team delivers the food. It's not a third-party service. I had this place bookmarked for the longest time. Finally tried it yesterday. Nothing really hit the spot. Somehow, everything was a tad too sweet. The pad see ewe was pretty sweet in my opinion. Especially, there wasn't much noodles. The noodles were like little pieces. So difficult to eat. I think it would have tasted a lot better if the noodles were noodles instead of crumbs. Tofu was ok and the greens were ok. The coconut rabbit dumplings were ok. A little bit too tangy and sweet. Not my type of dumplings. The Thai lime tea was ok. Fast forward to this weekend,I was in the area and found this to be the only restaurant around that wasn't packed. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai, and while the color looked a bit pale compared to other places, it turned out to be the lightest yet most flavorful Pad Thai I've ever had. We got there a few minutes after they opened. We were greeted upon entering and immediately seated. My friend ordered the Green Curry with chicken and substituted the Crispy Roti Prata for thr rice. I got the Tom Kha Noodle Soup with chicken and an order of the Jungle Noodles with chicken to go. Our food came quickly. The Tom Kha was so good -- warm and comforting which is perfect for a chilly evening. It was creamy from the coconut milk and had a slight kick. Would have liked more spice, but I enjoyed it the way it was. It was also packed with chicken, mushrooms, and noodles which is a plus. I tried a piece of my friend's Roti Prata and it was amazing -- crispy, buttery, and flaky. It was the best Roti Prata I have had in a while. Would definitely get a side order of that in the future if not substituting it for rice. Overall, giving Coconut Rabbit a 5/5. Service was great. The staff are kind and attentive. The space is a good balance of traditional and modern, with high ceilings and bright lights. The food is delicious and good value for the price. Honestly, I came by because I thought that the coconut rabbit dumplings had rabbit meat in them not realizing that it's just the restaurant name haha. My brain was not working at the time; but the food was decent. My grandpa enjoyed the chicken larb a lot. The larb was warm, which I don't prefer because I'm used to it being served cold. The dumplings were alright in my opinion; I didn't like the sweet & sour sauce they use. I did, however, enjoy the pad see ew a lot as it was well balanced. A bit on the pricier side, but totally worth it. My solo lunch ended up being $20 and change; which is a little steep for a regular lunch, but hey, it was SO worth it. We had: Yellow Curry - Slightly spicy combination of caramelized onions, shallots, peas, carrots, potatoes, turmeric, and coconut milk. Flavorful! Fried Rice - Chicken, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, and more. Solid side option. Pad See Ew - Savory! Ratio of noodles to protein to vegetables were spot on. Yellow curry - my friend had this and I didn't try, so can't say as much. Cute presentation, but she also said it wasn't spicy at all despite ordering a higher spicy level. Might be a pro to some people, just something to note. Shrimp papaya salad - absolutely DELICIOUS! My first time trying papaya salad and it was refreshing and light! Savory, tart, and a bit sweet. Fiancé And I decided to try this Thai restaurant on one of our regular Friday date nights. The food and flavors were elevated but very authentic, fresh ingredients and great service. Our server was fast, polite and friendly. We both got panang curry: salmon for me and my fiancé got the short rib. For the appetizer we got chicken spring rolls. Everything was really good. The sauce for the rolls were yummy. Oh I also forgot, I got a Thai ice coffee. Sooo good. Food was plated very elegantly. The only thing is that I felt it was a bit too pricey. However, given the demographic and location, I get it. I am just unsure if the pricing makes sense since you can drive 15-20 mins to garden grove area for cheaper also authentic Thai food. We were visiting from Las Vegas and came across Coconut Rabbit while looking for a good lunch spot. Even though it was a holiday weekend, the restaurant wasn't busy, and we were greeted warmly and seated right away. Service was quick -- drinks came out immediately, and even the water tasted fresh. My kids ordered Thai Teas, my wife had an iced Jasmine Tea, and everything was refreshing and delicious. For food, we ordered two Chicken Satays with rice, Yellow Curry with chicken, and Beef Pad See Ew. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly cooked -- my family devoured everything, and I was secretly hoping for leftovers, but the food was too good to leave behind! On the drive home, my kids said they wished we had Coconut Rabbit in Las Vegas. Honestly, this was the best meal of our short California trip and one we'll definitely remember. My husband picked up dinner on his way home from work, and I opted for the pad Thai with pork. The portion was sizeable and I loved how much pork was offered in the dish. The pork was also very tender and flavorful! The noodles were well cooked and the flavor of the overall dish was mixed really well. This pad Thai also isn't orange, which is one thing I look for to check authenticity of the dish. My only complaint is that the egg seemed slightly burnt/charred throughout the dish, which made the dish have a very slight "burnt" flavor.
