Don't hesitate to eat here. Great Thai restaurant hidden in a roadside complex where all the businesses look the same. There's even a hidden 7-eleven in there. On my way to my hotel, looking for a dinner spot, the name caught my eye. I decided to double back and was the best decision I had made all day. Single dining room restaurant with friendly polite young staff. One double-sided menu makes it easy for ordering. This evening, I ordered Thai Iced Tea, Massaman short rib curry, and the coconut rabbit dumplings. The coconut rabbit dumplings were over the top good! Uniquely prepared fried dumplings filled with ground seasoned meat and skewered on a tiny wooden pick with cucumber, papaya or mango, pepper relish was amazing. This is reason enough to dine here! The Thai iced tea was perfect. The Massaman curry was done right and with short rib meat was absolutely delicious. I think I would try it with pork next time. But if there is a next time, I probably would try their green curry. It was a tough choice. But I didn't regret my decision. This was my first visit, but not my last. read more

When we used to live in the Los Alamitos area, The Coconut Rabbit was one of our absolute go-to spots and we ordered from here all the time. There are certain dishes we get every single time because they're just that good. The spicy garlic edamame is always a must. We also love the chicken yellow curry, the wonton soup, and the shrimp pad Thai, which always has the perfect balance of flavor. Another favorite is the blue crab fried rice, which is incredible. We also enjoy the shrimp fried rice, but we usually end up ordering the blue crab fried rice because it's so good. The beef pad see ewe is another dish we come back to again and again. And of course we always order the Thai iced tea, which is absolutely delicious and the perfect pairing with the meal. Before they expanded their sit-down restaurant, we ordered delivery from them all the time, and what really stood out was that their own team delivers the food. It's not a third-party service. They are always so kind, make sure you have everything you need, and the food is always packaged carefully and arrives in great condition. Now that they've expanded and have their sit-down restaurant, we actually drive from North Orange County just to come eat here, which says a lot about how much we love this place. I had this place bookmarked for the longest time. Finally tried it yesterday. Nothing really hit the spot. Somehow, everything was a tad too sweet. The pad see ewe was pretty sweet in my opinion. Especially, there wasn't much noodles. The noodles were like little pieces. So difficult to eat. I think it would have tasted a lot better if the noodles were noodles instead of crumbs. Tofu was ok and the greens were ok. The coconut rabbit dumplings were ok. A little bit too tangy and sweet. Not my type of dumplings. The Thai lime tea was ok. This place is decent! The noodle and curry dishes we got (pictured) were soooo flavorful. I will say, the curry is on the more watery side, as opposed to being creamy. Nothing wrong with that, just be aware in case of preference. The drinks (pictured) were good too! Stopped by on a week night and it wasn't too crowded, so we were served immediately. I came here once many years ago, and all I remembered was that the portions were on the smaller side. Fast forward to this weekend,I was in the area and found this to be the only restaurant around that wasn't packed. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai, and while the color looked a bit pale compared to other places, it turned out to be the lightest yet most flavorful Pad Thai I've ever had. Not greasy at all, and the chicken tasted like the good-quality kind I usually only get when I cook at home. The Crying Tiger, however, was a huge letdown--bland in flavor and the steak was so dry it was a workout to chew. We got there a few minutes after they opened. We were greeted upon entering and immediately seated. My friend ordered the Green Curry with chicken and substituted the Crispy Roti Prata for thr rice. I got the Tom Kha Noodle Soup with chicken and an order of the Jungle Noodles with chicken to go. Our food came quickly. The Tom Kha was so good -- warm and comforting which is perfect for a chilly evening. It was creamy from the coconut milk and had a slight kick. Would have liked more spice, but I enjoyed it the way it was. It was also packed with chicken, mushrooms, and noodles which is a plus. I tried a piece of my friend's Roti Prata and it was amazing -- crispy, buttery, and flaky. It was the best Roti Prata I have had in a while. Would definitely get a side order of that in the future if not substituting it for rice. Overall, giving Coconut Rabbit a 5/5. Service was great. The staff are kind and attentive. The space is a good balance of traditional and modern, with high ceilings and bright lights. The food is delicious and good value for the price. Honestly, I came by because I thought that the coconut rabbit dumplings had rabbit meat in them not realizing that it's just the restaurant name haha. My brain was not working at the time; but the food was decent. My grandpa enjoyed the chicken larb a lot. The larb was warm, which I don't prefer because I'm used to it being served cold. The dumplings were alright in my opinion; I didn't like the sweet & sour sauce they use. I did, however, enjoy the pad see ew a lot as it was well balanced. The ambiance is everything , super relaxed, yet modern. Now, the food. Oh my goodness, so fresh! The flavors were spot on, and the portion size? Perfect. I was so full after my Pad Thai (plus a little bit of soda. should've just gone with water and lime!). I think I waited about 15 mins max to get my food post order. A bit on the pricier side, but totally worth it. My solo lunch ended up being $20 and change; which is a little steep for a regular lunch, but hey, it was SO worth it. For dessert you can get fried bananas, mango sticky rice, and sweet roti. Our order was ready for pick up after 20 minutes. We had: Yellow Curry - Slightly spicy combination of caramelized onions, shallots, peas, carrots, potatoes, turmeric, and coconut milk. Flavorful! Fried Rice - Chicken, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, and more. Solid side option. Pad See Ew - Savory! Ratio of noodles to protein to vegetables were spot on. Might be a pro to some people, just something to note. Shrimp papaya salad - absolutely DELICIOUS! My first time trying papaya salad and it was refreshing and light! Savory, tart, and a bit sweet. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly cooked -- my family devoured everything, and I was secretly hoping for leftovers, but the food was too good to leave behind! On the drive home, my kids said they wished we had Coconut Rabbit in Las Vegas. Honestly, this was the best meal of our short California trip and one we'll definitely remember. Fiancé And I decided to try this Thai restaurant on one of our regular Friday date nights. The food and flavors were elevated but very authentic, fresh ingredients and great service. Our server was fast, polite and friendly. We both got panang curry: salmon for me and my fiancé got the short rib. For the appetizer we got chicken spring rolls. Everything was really good. The sauce for the rolls were yummy. Oh I also forgot, I got a Thai ice coffee. Sooo good. Food was plated very elegantly. The only thing is that I felt it was a bit too pricey. However, given the demographic and location, I get it. I am just unsure if the pricing makes sense since you can drive 15-20 mins to garden grove area for cheaper also authentic Thai food. Me and my kids have been this place for years. Their food was always great. However, today we were so disappointed and maybe it is going to be the last day with Coconut Rabbit for us Me and my daughter went there during the lunch time today and ordered their lunch specials. Since we always tried for dinner, we didn't even know that they have a lunch specials. When we got in, the lady sat us to the corner table and my daughter was so excited since this place is one of her favorite places. However, sooner or later we both noticed that the server was very unkind and she was acting like a robot without any emotion. My daughter usually doesn't comment anything, but today she said "they are very unkind". The server has never checked on us (did the refill for my ice tea once) I saw she smiled to some white customers though. Maybe racial preferences or maybe we ordered lunch specials which is relatively cheaper??? If the owner sees this review, please look at the CCTV and train your servers again. Don't get me wrong.
