My girlfriend and I arrived on a late Saturday night. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were given the opportunity to sit at the bar. The bartender Nil was so attentive. We ordered mango margaritas and the Mango Passion Fruit Lassi. Both were phenomenally crafted. To eat, we ordered the cheese & jalapeño kulcha, saffron rice (side), Cali Chilli Pot Pie, and the Tandoori Sea Bass. My soul left my body as soon as I bit into the sea bass. I'm someone who rarely savors my food, but I genuinely felt sad that I was on my last bite. All other dishes we ordered were perfect. The sea bass; however, stole the show. Tender lamb shank with a great curry and wedge potatoes. Didn't have a chance to try it with rice. 4.6/5 Saffron rice - As just mentioned, this rice is excellent. A bit underseasoned by itself but with a protein it's excellent. 4.5/5 Kebab - I forgot which I got, but it was a solid dish. I liked the cook and grilled fruits it came with. You definitely have to make reservations as we walked in at an earlier time and told us we had to wait for our reservations time even though restaurant was semi empty. They do charge when you make reservations but make sure you tell them at the end of your meal as they forgot to refund our money. Besides that incident the service was overall great. Food for me was okay, I have had better indian food. The pani poppers was not worth it. They do give you 3 different flavors of water and it wasn't great. Ordered potato kulcha it was okay need to be crispy and had no flavors at all. The paneer archai was okay. The green chutney that it came with made it taste definitely better! The dum vegetable briyani was good as it does time with paneer inside which was nice suprise. The Rita however lacked flavored. None of the food was spicy or just didnt have that indian flavoring. My first experience at Cali Chilli was for a Yelp Elite Event a couple weeks ago, and since then I kept thinking about that phenomenal butter chicken pot pie. I came back and brought a good friend for his bday dinner. Walked in on Sunday night without a reso and they were busy but they kindly sat us at the bar (full menu available at the bar). We ordered the potato kulcha- spiced potatoes tucked inside of Indian bread, tandoori chicken - super tender/flavorful and juicy, the butter chix pot pie I couldn't get out of my head, dum biryani with chicken- this rice dish had quite a kick but was really good especially eaten with the piping hot bread topping the dish, and garlic and chive naan. Everything was freshly prepared and so delicious. Nil who had been my server for the YEE was our server again and he is so friendly, attentive, and engaging. My friend absolutely loved the food and was happy to discover CC also has a larger location in Downtown LA. Two for two great meals at Cali Chilli. Indian fusion restaurant with high ceilings and pretty good food. Went for a weekday lunch. Street parking was plenty. Waiter sat us immediately. There was a lunch special of the day where you get a salad, appetizer of the day (veg option was paneer achari), main of the day (veg option kadai paneer), rice and garlic naan. Opted for the veg options since it's lent - along with the pani puri poppers. The pani puri poppers were really good - the mango & passionfruit sauce was amazing, as was the mint one. It took quite a bit of time from then to get our main meals, but were really good once they came. The flavors were legit and there was a lot of paneer. The garlic naan was also good - not as greasy as your typical garlic naan. Would come back to try the meat options (my friend who came had the chicken and thought it was really good), but keep in mind the service was really really slow (took 1.5 hrs for lunch). The falooda was interesting and was basically a dessert as described on the menu. I love Cali Chilli and left a glowing review for their location in Downtown Los Angeles a couple of months back. I decided to dine at my local Long Beach location and booked a reservation. Unfortunately, I was turned away as I was told the kitchen was closed. This was disappointing. I highly recommend that this is addressed on the backend of the website's reservation tool, aligning the available times to dine with the kitchen's availability. I avoided the spot because I don't really like places that don't have their own parking lot, but luckily parking was actually easy to find mid week afternoon. From the outside you would never expect what the interior looks like, modern, high ceilings, with a dark mysterious atmosphere, I enjoyed it. If you like sports, there's so many giant tvs to watch from. We made a reservation so we were seated immediately. Not sure if its an always thing, but there was only 1 server taking care of everyone, in which she was nice but she did forget one of our dishes, which was the mainnn thing I wanted to try, the butter chicken pot pie! Which also takes some time to bake up! She was nice about it though, and we weren't in a rush so we waited. Let me tell yall, the butter chicken (Cali Chili) pot pie was definitely worth the wait, it was the best thing we had and I would go back just for that. The next dish I would pair that with is the Dum Biryani, this was massive and I enjoyed the spices in it, very flavorful. These 2 alone and you're set. That's all you need. The other things we tried that were pretty good as well were the beef short ribs (it was tender and the sauce was good, but small portion), Tellicherry shrimp (this was interesting, shrimp and grits, the grits were super watery when we first got it, best to let it sit a bit and it gets thicker, the shrimp was good),classic burrata saag paneer (the flavor combo on this wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad), garlic and chive naan (good, not amazing), and the pani puri (my least favorite, it was a fun concept but messy to eat and I was surprised it was cold). This is a beautiful restaurant I have been here once before and decided to come back with my sister for late lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was mostly empty except for two guys at a table and a woman at the bar. We both wanted to try the Cali chili pot pie. We ordered this with garlic naan, no need for rice. The pastry crust on top was perfectly toasted and complemented the butter chicken on the inside. This was a creative way to present the dish. There is a large bar which is nice and stocked if you want to hang out with friends. We sat next to the front window so it was nice and semi private however I think this made for slow service. It took a while to get our order in as well as our food. The pani puri poppers were fresh and delish - 3 different flavors. The rice needed to be ordered separately as none of the dishes came with it as well as the garlic naan. The burrata paneer was so good with a hint of heat. The eggplant lasagna was the best with so much flavor. Even if you aren't an eggplant fan try this dish and you might be converted. The chicken wings were also solid but a small portion. The chicken tikka was a bit on the dry side and the sauce that came with it was not very good. The mango lassis were so good but we had to wait until the end of the meal to get it. For the Christmas birthday gal they brought a small kulfi which she liked. The food is good and we definitely want to try other things on the menu next time. We decided to try because of all the great reviews here on yelp and elsewhere. I was a bit, no, more than a bit disappointed. When we walked in, we stood there for several minutes with staff walking by us many times and ignoring us. Finally we asked the bartender if we were to seat ourselves or what. The bartender COMPLETELY ignored us for probably 10 minutes or more. I mean, he could have at least acknowledged us and told us he'd be right with us. There were only 3 other people at the bar. Granted, there were a few large parties at the tables and he was probably pretty busy with drink orders, but a professional would have welcomed us and told us he'd be with us in a few minutes. I mean, it really doesn't take much. We finally order our drinks which were on the specials menu. He asked if we were ready to order food and we did. We were looking forward to enjoying our drinks before dinner, but the food arrived before our drinks!! The staff here really could use some lessons in customer service. I wouldn't say they were rude, but they were just not courteous. I went to the bathroom once and encountered two staff at different times along the way in and back. They did not move for me. It's a slim hallway with barely enough room for two people to pass. You'd think they'd acquiesce to the customer. The food was decent but way overpriced. $25 for 4 tiny pieces of chicken? And you can't even throw some rice or naan in? Yeah, it's a one and done for me. Also, if you think you're getting authentic Indian food, think again. Nothing about my dish was Indian. It is street parking as with everything around here. It isn't impossible but you may have a short walk to the restaurant. You are welcomed immediately and shown your seat. This place is a bit busy but drinks and food are spaced appropriately. Be sure to look over their delicious speciality drink menu. It did not disappoint. Food is a la carte. You may want to get an appetizer if you have a big appetite. You cant go wrong with the bread. Otherwise, you may need to save room for desert. The meal was the centerpiece of the whole experience. On the last day of LBFSW, I had my heart set on going to Cali Chilli and had one of the best dining experiences in a while. Their LBFSW/Dine LA menu offered a 4-course meal starting with a citrus salad and moringa and lentil soup, choice of 8 different protein & vegetarian dishes, saffron rice, garlic naan and vanilla flan with poached pears. For the 2nd and 3rd course, my husband and I tried the Tandoori Chicken Wings, Hariyali Paneer Tikka, Beetroot Edamame Cutlet, Cali Sticky Ribs, and Panang Chicken Curry. Everything was absolutely delicious, flavorful, with awesome spices, yet not too salty. The Sticky Ribs might be one of the Best I've ever had omg! I also had to try the Cali Chilli Pot Pie with lamb and that was so incredible. Dipping the buttery flaky crust into the spicy sauce with big chunks of lamb was heavenly. They actually ran out of the 4th course, vanilla flan, so they served us an amazing vanilla ice cream with cardamom and a fruit cream that sent me. The cocktails are so creative with Indian twists using cinnamon, chai tea, turmeric, mango and tamarind chutney. I tried the Smoked Almond Whiskey and it gave a nutty Old Fashioned feel with a cool smokey presentation. Our server and bartender, Andy, was awesome, attentive and helpful with recs! Looking for great tasting Indian food in the city of Long Beach? Then look no further and make your way to Cali Chilli located off Viking Way which is accessible from Bellflower Blvd off the 91 freeway or off of Carson from the 605 freeway. Cali Chilli Kitchen & Bar is one of two locations in Southern California and this particular location has free parking and in a well lit area that seems safe and parking that is just a few feet away from the front entrance. We have been here during the day as "Pancake" which is great for breakfast or brunch, but if you would like to try their lunch or dinner menu, then Cali Chilli is the same spot which features a Michelin Chef from India. I ordered the chicken Momo for an appetizer, the chicken truffle tandoori as my entree, butter naan, and the chai tea latte as my beverage. The chicken Momo came as 5 pieces and it came with a soya sauce and a mayo combination sauce which both complimented the flavor of the chicken well. I love momos so I am partial to this appetizer which I could have eaten by myself, but was generous enough to share with my husband. The chicken truffle had a delicious cream sauce reminiscent of the gravy I had when I was here for the "Pancake" breakfast last year for Valentine's, it was creamy and was the real star of this dish. The butter naan was good especially to sop up the vindaloo entree that my husband ordered. The chai tea latte served as both a drink and a dessert for me, had just enough sweetness yet not overly sweet, perfect compliment and palate cleanser to my dish. I contemplated ordering a dessert such as the chai tiramisu, but opted out due to time and I was full. It was getting late, about 8pm on a Monday (2/23/2026) and being that it was a school night for my son, we decided to end our meal which we happily finished and provided a 20% tip. Make sure to call ahead or make a reservation just in case because it has about 10 table seatings along with bar seating available, however it did appear to be a small space for more intimate dining and not so much for large groups. Overall I think the food was just okay, a lot of it was for show and lacking in flavor. I think it's catered to the American palate, rather than authentic Indian food. I liked the cheese bread was stuffed and the cauliflower fritters were our favorite. It was a little bit too fried in my opinion, or maybe the batter was too dense. The chicken momos were tasty and reminded of the Trader Joe's soup dumplings, not sure if I would order again. I felt like the vegetable biriyani would have used more sauce, a lot of the rice was still white. Yogurt sauce was okay. The pastry top wasn't necessary, really just for show. I was happy to see that they had a parking lot and it wasn't in downtown LB. We had the garlic cheese kulcha and it was fabulous. Cali Chili has been on my must try list and it did not disappoint. The food took a bit of time to prepare but it was well worth the wait. It shows that they pay attention to details. Our side of rice was served in a hot bowl that remained hot the entire meal, wonderful planning and execution. Pani puri came with plenty of dressing; each one was unique in flavor that complimented each other well. The chicken momos were similar to great Chinese dumplings. Very juicy in the inside and served with sauces that we wanted to put on everything. The Szechuan sauce is not just sriracha and mayo, just delightful. Who knew you could tandoori sea bass? They've done it to perfection. Flakey and still juicy! My favorite dish of the meal. The burrata in the saag paneer wasn't my favorite but I like the bold interpretation of the classic. Probably my new go to spot for Indian food. Their slogan is "un-authentic" Indian food. They take traditional flavors & spices and basically remix classic Indian entrees. Trust me when I say, this is a must visit restaurant for all foodies. Service was top notch from Mara and the ambiance gives modern bar/lounge vibes but yet you feel right at home. My boss and I came right when they opened for lunch yesterday at 12pm and went family style. We ordered 2 shareable dishes and 2 large plates to get a variety of the menu. Everything was outstanding. The green sauce is always the best to me, I can drink that shit. What took away a star was kind of the service, or rather what happened before and after. We were able to get a reservation, but the restaurant closed 30 or an hour after the reservation so we were rushed immediately to order. As in, hey guys we're going to close the kitchen soon, please make your order within 5 minutes type of deal. WHY HAVE OPEN RESSIES BY THEN?? So that's fine, we were able to order a bunch of stuff from the recommendation from the waiter. All in all he was nice. He did inform us that the added gratuity did NOT go to him or the waitstaff but directly to the restaurant so I believe we added tip on top of that...but someone in our party called the restaurant and they said that was simply not true. Also, not sure if we got the $10 reservation taken off either. It was just bizzare and honestly because of that I'll probably not come back again especially with a large party and with a reservation. I had Cali Chilli bookmarked for a while, so was glad I finally got to try it when I was in the area. I managed to find street parking nearby, but there is not a ton of parking so be forewarned. The inside is gorgeous and not what you would expect from the exterior appearance. Unfortunately, the day I visited they were having internet issues so could only accept cash. I had to go withdraw cash from an ATM across the street since their dishes are not cheap. Service was fine, and the menu was diverse (I particularly appreciated all of the zero proof drink options). We ended up ordering the butter chicken pot pie and the lunch special with eggplant and lentils. The lunch special is still a bit pricey at $30, but it comes with salad, garlic naan, and saffron rice (and the rice had real saffron in it). Both the eggplant and lentil dishes were flavorful and outstanding. The garlic naan was just a little bit burnt, but otherwise tasty, and I noticed that the naan was thicker than other places. I would have liked an even flakier puff pastry top for the pot pie, but the butter chicken was piping hot and bathed in a very rich sauce. We also had a nice cup of hot chai and the chai tiramisu for dessert. The chai tiramisu was very well presented though the chai flavor didn't come out enough for me. Overall, the quality and flavors of Cali Chilli definitely shine, but this is reflected also in its significantly higher prices. read more

Their food is very tasty. I made two visits. I love the service and the food. My only issue was the second time I came they sat me in the wrong seat and asked me to move. I think o could have gotten over it had they offered something...that is kind of awkward to ask us to move to take care of a large party after we were settled. Secondly they pushed us out to accommodate a reservation and that felt weird too. I'll still be back but eventually given it is a little bit of a trip for me it would have to be a five star to go there more regularly. read more

Truly enjoyed dining at Cali Chili! Their menu offers a selection of bold, fusion dishes centered around Indian flavors. To start, we tried the Pani Puri Poppers, which were not only tasty, but also fun. It comes with a shot of sauce that you pour in the Pani Puri before popping it into your mouth. For our main courses, we chose the Butter Chicken Pot Pie and Cali Chilli Rendang (plus a side of rice). The Butter Chicken Pot Pie was a standout; the flaky, buttery crust dipped in the rich butter chicken filling was delicious. I would definitely order it again! These three dishes were more than enough for the two of us, and we left feeling completely satisfied. Looking forward to my next visit! read more
