My daughters and I had been craving for Indian food. It just so happens we had an opportunity to go so we search Yelp and found Flamin Curry 2 in the Long Beach area we were at. The Yelpers didn't disappoint with the high ratings and reviews of this place. We were excited to see that Flamin Curry 2 had a fast food option in which you can choose 1, 2, or 3 combo as well as Ala carte. We were able to choose what we wanted to eat and sample each other's choices. I was doubly elated when I asked if any food contains any nuts as one of my daughters is highly allergic to some nuts. I was told that in other restaurants, usually the sit down full service Indian restaurants, there may be nuts, but not in this "fast food" Indian restaurant. Our server said all the food in their restaurant has no nuts at all. All 3 of us chose a 2-choice meal which had basmati rice and naan bread included. All of the food we chose were tasty, flavors were authentic, and had satisfied our cravings. I especially enjoyed the naan bread and thought it was the best one I've ever tasted. It tasted so fresh. I loved the texture and butter flavor in my mouth. I chose chicken curry and tandoori, one of my daughters chose butter chicken and black pepper chicken, and my other daughter also chose butter chicken and palak paneer. My daughters also ordered mango lassi (which we were told were made by hand at the store even the yogurt used for the drink) and I had coconut water. The service was wonderful. The servers were very friendly and helpful especially as they found out it was our first time there. They were very open and patient answering our questions. They also seemed to have hand-made and delivered the best naan bread I've had to our table. The ambience of the place is very casual. It was a small place, but had enough tables that people can sit and enjoy the freshly-cooked meal. There was also a TV in which a FIFA World Cup Soccer was playing, so I was able to enjoy the food fresh and even watch the soccer game. What a winner!!!! Flamin Curry is the only one of its kind on this side of time, and while I'm all for that, my experience here was a little lackluster. I ordered the 2 item combo ($14) - saag paneer and chicken masala. The saag paneer was incredibly watery and came with one lonely piece of paneer. I did think the chicken tikka faired better. It had good flavor and you get a good amount of chicken, though I did think the chicken tasted a little dry. The best thing I tasted were the veggie samosas. You get 2 pieces for $6. Ours were cooked to order and tasted nice and fresh. Dipped in the mint chutney and this made for a great bite. I've gone here twice already and ordered to go, because it's near my job. So when I'm craving Indian food this is the spot I go to. It's a small spot. I haven't had a chance to eat inside yet. All the drinks and desert are in the cooler to get including mango lassi. I ordered palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, rice, naan, mango lassi and gulab the first time. I love the palak paneer and naan. the chicken tikka masala was a bit too sweet for me. the mango lassi was great. The gulab was in the fridge so it got hard. The second time I went I got naan and lentils and the mango lassi again. The lentil and naan are so good. I have to preface this by stating that I love Indian cuisine. It has been a while since we had any, and we decided on Flamin' Curry to satisfy our (actually my) Indian food craving tonight. Usually, I opt for chicken tikka masala, but tonight went went with the butter chicken, which has a slightly sweet flavor note. We got their butter chicken wet burrito (yes, a sort of fusion). I had it medium hot, which gave a nice balance with its slight sweetness. Their burrito is HUGE, with tons of chicken. We shared one burrito, and we're both stuffed. We should have requested extra sauce, as the chicken, though tasty, was slightly dry. Overall, it was a yummy and very satisfying meal (I'm still first a fan of tikka masala). We always have leftovers for lunch the next day. I order two 2-item combos that comes with rice and naan. I gotta get the butter chicken (not spicy) and spinach paneer (spicy). My husband likes the cauliflower (spicy). The veggie samosas are amazing. The restaurant always looks tidy and clean. Everyone taking orders is quick to help and friendly. I've noticed they're happy to give samples and patient if you need help ordering. The only drawback is getting out of the parking lot. Atlantic is a busy street, and I've seen an accident or two at the intersection while grabbing food here. I cross my fingers every time I get on Wardlow to go east. But totally worth it. Came back again after I saw they had BURRITOS on the window sign! I love me a good fusion. And it did not disappoint. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala burrito and it was pretty packed with fillings. Keep in mind they stir fry the fillings (so I was told) and so it doesn't seem have to sauce on the inside by default. When she asked if I wanted it wet or dry I said dry and it was a bit too dry to enjoy comfortably. So, I recommend ordering it wet for sure but not sure if they add sauce on top. The burrito was super flavorful--I feel like I can handle spice pretty well but even a mid-range number spice was almost too much for me. So, beware! As usual the service was really nice and the food came out quick and piping hot/fresh. If you're planning to eat the burrito on the go, keep in mind it comes in a tray and can be a little greasy to unwrap so might not want to do a "eat while driving" situation with it. Curry Potatoes & Cauliflower Basmati Rice & Naan. I apologize can't remember the name of this dish. A vegan meal with curried veggies tender potato's and cauliflower simmered in a rich well seasoned curry. It's very tasty. 9/10 Naan It tasted bitter with a raw half cooked garlic flavor m, it didn't taste like naan to me it was more reminiscent of a chewy flour tortilla. 2/10 Garlic Roti Tender flavorful chewy and crispy at the same time it was so good. 9/10 Mixed Veggie Kulcha Roti style dough filled with a blend of roasted veggies tender seasoned well with mozzarella cheese grilled or baked crispy on the outside and tender on the inside this was so delicious. 9/10 I ordered a few sauces and ate them all with the curried potatoes roti and veggie kulche . Spicy Pickle Tangy and salty it was ok a different flavor I think I can like a bit more if I try it with heartier food. 7/10 Tamarind Sauce Tangy and slightly sweet it was soo good I drizzled it on my curried potatoes and dipped my roti and kulche. 9/10 Mango Chutney Chunky salty savory and sweet perfect with my meal it's an acquired taste and I like it. 9/10 Green sauce. I can't remember the name. Slightly herbaceous well seasoned and it's good I drizzled this one on my food and dipped my naan and kulche in this. 9/10 Raita This one didn't have cucumbers but it was creamy and delicious with my food. Vegan Indian food is some of the best food I have eaten more specifically authentic Indian food it's flavorful and well seasoned the varieties are endless. I'm not vegan my daughter is vegan but through her I have learned to embrace it and I love it. It's filling and doesn't make me feel sluggish. For the carnivore in me I'm coming back to try the goat, fish curry and soo much more. I was a fan of the original Flamin' Curry on 4th street and I was looking forward to trying this new location in Bixby Knolls. Unfortunately, I can't say that I'm a fan of this location yet; however, I think I can have a better experience with a few adjustments. Flamin' Curry serves takeaway Indian food. Food is prepped ahead of time and kept warm on a hot plate and you take what you want to go. The pre-made food is typically mild-level spiciness. They mentioned that if you want your food spicy, then you could order any dish a-la-carte. I tend to like food with a little spice, so it was bland for me. If I come back, then I'd definitely order a-la-carte. My other mistake is that I ordered at the end of the day, so food was probably not at peak freshness. Had an order of veggie samosa and it was okay - the potatoes were relatively stale and the chutneys were broken from sitting out. The garlic naan was also very soft and lukewarm, which isn't as satisfying as a hot, fresh, crispy flatbread. Like most places that are "takeout" focused, you might have food closer to peak freshness closer to lunch. Nevertheless, I think their chicken tikka is good - even at the end of the day. I think that this side of Long Beach needs a good Indian takeout option. Maybe just come closer to lunch. And if you want your food with a little bit of a kick, order a-la-carte. read more

The first time I discovered Flamin' Curry #2 at this location; I had to practice restraint, if not I would be here on the daily! Everything is prepared from scratch down to the spices that are grounded fresh. I recently started visiting this establishment with two of my favorite neighbors Gloria, & Ben. The owner, Naveen is usually here from 12:00 PM to close. If you're curious about the menu; Naveen will walk you through it. He makes it a point to oversee the seating area & suggests how to combine the entrees. He converses with you about the preparations with passionate enthusiasm. You can sense right away that this man loves his business & at the same time enjoys to see his customers leave full and happy. In addition to the amazing food the atmosphere is positive, his employees are clean, welcoming, & joyful. I had an amazing time tonight chatting over the process of his entrees and life in general. Naveen is a gentleman that has lived many lives, & has owned a handful of businesses. We were in awe, captured by savory courses & conversation. You will catch me here more often. This is the type of place where you point at ready-made entrees and they put it in take out plates, like Panda Express, although you can also be seated and served at dine-in tables. What I ordered: * 2 item combo ($14.00)- I chose Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Curry, which came with rice and naan. Both of the chicken dishes were flavorful and the chicken was juicy and swimming in sauce, which I happily dipped my naan in. Since we took it to go, the naan was wrapped in foil and a little soggy, so I just popped it in the air fryer for a few minutes, and voila, it was good as new. * Chicken samosas- a little bland/dry for my taste. Would be interested in trying them fresh instead of sitting under the heating areas * Mango lassi ($6.00)- This was goooood! Not too sweet, just enough yogurt tang to make it addictive If you have time to sit down and dine-in there, I think the quality of the naan would be much better. We discovered Flamin Curry back in December and have been going at least twice a month ever since. It's always a hit and satisfying. Everything we tried has been delicious, but the chicken tikka Is a must have. The portions are generous and you can easily split into two meals. Parking sucks there. This location on Atlantic and Wardlow has a small private lot which already makes this location so much better. We came here during their soft opening stages. Staff were all friendly and helpful. When I inquired about vegan options, they were excited to list all of their offerings. Three of their buffet items were already vegan on this particular visit. But they also let me know that any of the à la carte veggie items can be made vegan. This is consistent with what I encountered at their OG location. The amount of food I received for my 3-item combo is a deal for $14! I had the Channa Masala, cauliflower which also had potato, and potato which also came with eggplant. It comes with rice and usually naan. But since the staff observed that I ordered all vegan items, they offered roti in lieu of naan. We had vegetable korma, aloo gohbi, chicken tikka masala, and a samosa. All were good, but we agreed that the aloo gohbi was our favorite. It was a lot of food.
