We have been enjoying goodies from Flamin' Curry for some time now, so I figured it was about time I gave them their due props. Tonight, we had delicious paneer tikka masala, rice, and naan. The gentle sweetness and note of chili spice in the tikka sauce are palate-pleasing treats. Combined with perfectly cooked rice and naan bread, it made a perfect take-out meal. We had to special order the paneer with the tikka masala instead of chicken, but I love the texture of their cheese; it was a perfect taste union. We have had several other offerings of theirs in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed each. In short, we are definitely fans. I was in the mood for chicken tikka masala and when I searched Yelp this place came up. I thought I'd give it a try. There was no tikka masala so I asked if they had any and the woman at the counter said the butter chicken was the same. They most definitely are not the same but I was embarrassed and just figured I would order that. The butter chicken was sweet to the point of being inedible. Also, only four small pieces of chicken. Contrary to what the management said in a response to another review that they ladle 2 spoons of chicken, it was barely one and mostly sauce. The naan was premade & wrapped so it was soggy and had no taste of garlicky goodness that you would expect of garlic naan. The veggie samosa was ok. It was also premade and packaged. To be fair I've only gotten food from here once maybe it was off day, maybe the chef was out sick. I'm currently traveling so will likely not get a chance to try them again, but wanted to document my experience getting takeout since when I travel, I tend to get the same three things at any Indian restaurant that's new to me. The garlic naan neither smelled nor tasted of garlic. I could see small pieces of garlic scattered on top of the bread, but not enough to make any impact on flavor. The veggie quarters seemed overprocessed and were so salty I could only eat a few. The mint chutney and tamarind sauces both had nice flavors but seemed fairly watery. Finally, the chicken tikka masala was bland and tasted as if flour was added to it to thicken it. At at least the rest served with it was perfectly cooked and tasty. Portion sizes were good, and then and by the time I'd sampled everything I was full enough. Right now, I doubt I'll return to leftovers and I do hate wasting food. Most of the reviews here are much better and if I'm in the area again, I will try to go in person and certainly will amend my review if things are better. read more

I love the Flamin Curry on Broadway and was so excited to see one in Bixby Knolls, only 5 minutes away from my house! Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the service. I came during my lunch break with my fiancée and there was only one other customer in there, not ordering anything, just looking at the food. There was one server woman not actively doing anything but standing behind the counter. About 3 men are in the kitchen. Not busy at all, should be quick enough service for my 30 minute lunch break right? The server woman greeted us, made eye contact with me and asked me how she could help me and I requested a two item combo with the Chicken Tikka Masala, something else that was forgettable, garlic naan, a vegan mango lassi and 2 samosas. The server woman acknowledges our order and is about to start serving our plates. Suddenly two woman appear from the bathroom and the server woman completely disregarded me and tells me she is going to help them first since they were here before us. I was appalled, these women weren't even in line so why did she do that she had JUST asked us for our order? The best part was that these customers had absolutely no idea what they wanted and took 20 minutes to order. The server woman was SO SLOW, clearly not meant to work in fast food. It took her another 15 minutes to pack their stuff up. Now it's finally our turn to order I guess. She turns her attention back to us, we knew exactly what we wanted and ordered. It took her another minutes to get our 2 orders ready. I don't understand why it took her almost 20 minutes to get our plates ready when all the food we ordered was already ready and in front of us on the counter. It's not like she was making the naan??? The cooks do that simultaneously. She lets us know they're ready. She doesn't even bring the food over to us so we have to walk up to the counter. We ordered quite a bit of items and I asked her for a tray to carry them. "We don't have any." Okay, strange because the broadway location does have trays. Also the way she packed them was not okay, extremely messy. Curry from the dishes was just dripping out of the container and on the counters. She grabbed the containers and then my partner and I grabbed the other drinks and sides, thinking she was going to help us carry the messy items to the table. Nope I turned around and she was back behind the counter not doing anything. There was another server woman back from lunch helping another customer. Then two of the cooks from the kitchen walk to our table with our fresh naan and the messy containers. The samosas were dry and their mint and tamarind sauces were watery and flavorless compared to the broadway location. The vegan mango lassi was bitter and not good at all. The only good thing about this experience was the garlic naan and chicken tikka masala. Service was horrible. This was the first bad experience I've ever had with Flamin Curry. We went in so excited to eat Indian food in Bixby since there's no other place like that here. I left so disappointed and uncomfortable and late to work since that server woman took well over half an hour to help us. She honestly ruined my day the way she treated me and my fiancée with complete disregard. I think I'll stick to struggling with crappy parking at their Broadway location. This is a good choice for fast casual Indian food in the Long Beach area. Some of the food was a bit monochromatic, but it was all tasty. The staff was relatively friendly, and the casual dining room was clean. I would definitely come again. The chicken tikka was delicious. The palak paneer was a little bland. LO loved the goat biryani. The channa masala was also delicious. The pappadum were a little soft, but the naan was universally popular. Reasonably priced, generous portions. Reason why I chose "maybe" I'd recommend this place to anyone who is looking into trying indian food take out is because this is a new restaurant and this was only my first experience there. My family ordered three 2 item combos for dinner to go. 2 of them were both palaak paneer & butter chicken, basmati rice and garlic naan ($0.50 more) and the other combo was butter chicken & pepper chicken along with 2 vegetable samosas. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. We live 5 minutes (or even less) drive away and by the time we got home the food was not even warm. Chutney sauce had a couple pieces of hair or something (see photo attached) Garlic naan was not fresh at all. I guess we had high expectations for this restaurant because we've been having Little Taste of India withdrawals; small business was a walking distant from Long Beach Memorial; definitely was a favorite & popular lunch spot to their employees. Feel good food. Isn't it amazing how food can do that? It's a challenging afternoon (lets say for several weeks now) and you feel like swimming into the ocean so far out until isolation really sets in. You're idling there, and then the aroma of Flamin' Curry wafts into your dream. You order the Goat Curry, Tikka Masala, and Chana Masala. You dip a piece of perfectly cooked naan into the Goat Curry and taste it. Suddenly, you're doing the backstroke. The sun doesn't sting at all. You wrap a piece of chicken and Tikka Masala sauce into naan, scoop up a little chana, and take a bite. You're almost on the sandy beach now. Bite after bite. The basmati rice mixed into all this goodness is filling you with even more joy. You're smiling and in the land of the living. We have the privilege (on dine-out days) in Long Beach to think, What do I feel like eating today? And we walk around the globe in our mind. For $11 you can get 1 item, rice, and naan. The 3-item combo is $14 and perfectly sharable for 2 hungry adults (who also eat the kids leftovers). Deep breath in, deep breath out, and I'm in Northern India again. Sanji gave my friend and I the best customer service. Very friendly and even gave us reccomendations. It was my friend's first time having Indian food and they devoured the whole combo in less than half an hour. We got the combo plate with double the Chicken Tikka Masala, along with the Garlic Naan. Portion sizes were good, and I really lived that the garlic Naan bread was served fresh! And the Mango Lassi was really delicious, perfect creamy consistency. Agree on the comment for the naan. It was preccooked, hours to days ago. My no1 solace whenever I order from an Indian place is I will at least get some nice hot naan-not here. Also could barely feel the garlic(paid the extra 1$to "upgrade" togarlic naan). Got pepper chicken, butter chicken, curry chicken, lentils, tandoori chicken and goat curry. Everything except goat was bland as ****, you could trick me what I was eating was Trader Joe frozen meals. Chicken tandoori was especially bad, dry as Sahara, 1-2 days old. Little amount of protein in everything. As a saving grace, mango lassi was really good. Can't see a reason to order from here again. read more

The portions were quite generous. Had Goat Curry and Black Pepper Chicken. Nothing was flaming hot just spiced well. The goat was tender and spicy and the chicken creamy and tasty. Rice was cooked just right. The garlic nan could use more garlic (everything can use more garlic by my taste). Nice and clean and good friendly service. What a great new local Indian food staple! I had the butter chicken w/ rice, spinach dish, garlic naan and their Mango lassi drink. Everything had flavor, the butter chicken was extremely tender and the spinach dish was flavorful with a nice little kick of spice, the garlic naan could use a little more garlic but I enjoyed it. Their mango lassi was just the right amount of sweet and not to thick like others I've had. I will definitely be returning soon, I'm craving butter chicken again!
