If you like large portions you won't be disappointed! The service was excellent, very friendly staff and delicious food!

Shhhh: hidden gem in Sumner! It's a basic diner, but the staff and food really make it special. They were very busy when we went, but very attentive if you asked them for something. It was also freezing! However, once the coffee and food came the chill was definitely welcomed. Bill total was just under $50 for 2 adults and a child, which for the quality and amount of food was a really good deal. Let's get to what matters: FOOD! The menu was much smaller than the photos on yelp. Keep this in mind... there weren't as many choices, but it covered all the basic areas. They don't have a website, but do have Facebook, better updates on the menu may be noted there. We started with the cinnamon roll. It was clearly homemade, warm, sweet without being overly sugary, and likely the best I've ever had! It fed all 3 of as an appetizer. Hubby got the chili hash. He ordered the 1/2 order and couldn't finish the other 1/2. The full order should be reserved for professional eating competitors! I'm an eggs Benedict junkie and the was good. The eggs were poached to medium, which I prefer because I hate any undercooked white part, but it lacked the dramatic of the ooze which I loooove too. I get the hollandaise sauce on the side because I like to control the amount. I added a touch of hot sauce which took the good to great! The little got toast, scrambled eggs, and sausage which she devoured. The only thing that needs work is the coffee; it was a bit on the weaker side. Totally worth going!!! I'll be back and it'll be soon! read more

A friend and I had breakfast here, today. I had heard good things about the place so have been looking forward to trying it out. She had some kind of Farmers Omelette, I can't remember exactly what. I had biscuits and gravy, we both had the home fried potatoes, I ordered two eggs over-easy which is an extra charge but comes with a meat choice which I didn't want but the price is the same for the eggs without the meat so I ordered sausage links. It's a good thing I did, it was the best of the meal. The biscuits and gravy were almost cold. This is a common problem at almost every restaurant I've ever ordered them at. I don't know why but it's true. The eggs were not even close to over-easy, waaay over cooked. The potatoes for me and my friend were also waaay over cooked. The overall taste of everything was kind of blah. Not nasty, just not good. OK, the coffee was pretty good and as I said, the sausage was the best of the meal. I don't eat out often but can afford to eat out whenever I want. That being said, I thought everything was overpriced. Breakfast for two was $38.21. I left an eight dollar tip because the waitress was friendly and pretty efficient considering she seemed to be pretty busy. So, 46 bucks for breakfast for two seem pretty expensive to me and when I consider the food was not good, it was a complete waste of money. I won't be going back. I hope the waitress can find a job at a place better suited to her high level of service and personality. read more

Great customer service and pleasant atmosphere, charming place in sumner with good food and nice seating available. Can't wait to come back again! read more

I looove this place! First off, it's gives you warm vibes. Cute cafe, ambiance and great service. I had them make a Reuben into a wrap and it was next, the homemade goodies are something to write home about! Today I got strawberry rhubarb cream pie and a caramel brownie with pretzel crust. My faves though......BBBB (Browned Butter Banana Bread, Hummingbird Cake and The yellow cake) if you are a true cinnamon roll lover this is your place! Try it, you won't be disappointed read more

First impression: Friendly staff and downhill from there. Sticky table. Butter knife with jam still on it wrapped up in napkin with a fork to be used by unsuspecting customers. I overhear a waitress apologize because for the second time an order never got turned in today. Finished my first cup of coffee to see that the cup is filthy. Gf finishes hers to reveal the same. Approached an adult about it who identified as the owner. She says, " they get stained". I show her that I could literally rub it off with my finger, she says, "oh yeah, he's a teenager, it's his last day". I should have asked why she hadn't trained her staff but I figured I'd hear moe excuses. Food was plentiful but unimpressive. Service was slow. The staff if genuinely and kind but clearly lack direction. read more

Delicious food and great service! I ordered the pancakes with berries, bacon and eggs and loved every bite! My friend the BAC omelette with a side of French toast and also loved her food! read more

If I could give a Zero star I would. Worst service I've ever experienced. We were told that the wait would be 25 minutes and we were 2nd or 3rd on the list. 35 minutes later there are now 6 people in front of us. I wanted to treat my wife to a nice relaxing breakfast but this place ruined that experience. Needless to say we will never go back there. read more

Fantastic door and the desserts are amazing!! The service is prompt and the food came out fast. Highly recommend this place!!

Very cute place. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Food was awesome! Portions are big. Quality is good. Store was clean and in good shape. Parking is on the street but only a short walk to a public lot. Serve breakfast all day. Famous for cinnamon rolls, small was bigger than my fist. They were great! read more

It is always great!! Hate that they ran out of the country fried steak on mother's day.... But Love it and will keeep going there!!

Great spot! Yummy, reasonable prices, and friendly service. The giant cinnamon roll does not disappoint!

After reading the great reviews on Yelp I was excited to try this place. Sadly, it did not live up to the hype. Coffee was slightly above room temperature. Corned beef hash was straight out of a can. The biscuits were dry and flavorless (tasted like premade store bought. My husband ordered the eggs Benedict, and basically got a hard boiled egg on a biscuit. Was just overall a very disappointing experience. read more

Every time I try a new place for breakfast, especially if it's a small place with local ownership, I try their chicken fried steak/chicken. So I've eaten a lot of it, and I can say without question that this place has the best chicken fried steak of all those I've tried in Pierce and King Counties. The steak is so tender that the huge steak knife with which they serve it can rightly be said is just for show. The only utensil you'll need is your fork. The batter is light, and the generous amount of country gravy is outstandingly flavorful. Go for the Big Chicken, a double steak-extravaganza that will either put you into a blissful food coma afterward or provide you with a second meal. Oh, and the accoutrements are deliciously prepared, too. Choose the pan-fried (country) potatoes with peppers over the hash browns; they're crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like they should be. Rounded out with eggs and pancakes or toast, this dish is stellar. The 5-star rating is for the friendly customer service and the chicken-fried steak only. I can't vouch for anything else on the menu because I have never ventured beyond the CFS, and I've eaten here nearly a dozen times. But testimony from dining partners tells me that most everything else, especially the hobo hash and cinnamon rolls, is also delicious, and portions are generous. The only other advice I have is to get here early on weekends or expect a wait. read more

First time patron... I will be back. Service was top-notch, food as described, home cooking and done as requested. I got there just as they were opening and observed other patrons being greeted by name... I think I found a local favorite spot. One of the most delicious, homey, and comforting diner/cafés in the Puyallup/Sumner and surrounding areas. Food is always hearty and tastes, and the staff is so wonderful. I'd choose this cafe over any chain diners any day. read more

Since another establishment on Sumner permanently closed, we found ourselves looking across the street for our Monday breakfast. After being seated, we ordered beverages and I usually can tell a location's dedication by what they serve for Orange Juice. Is it fresh squeezed? From a container? I was disappointed that my OJ tasted like water. Wife had two cups of coffee and both were watered down, not a good start Food took a bit of time. We weren't in hurry but the service was slow. It was about 30 minutes before we were served. Wife ordered a hobo scramble and she barely touched it. She said the eggs were dry. The potatoes were undercooked. It was kind of greasy. She did like the bacon and picked through it but the majority just wasnt appealing to her and was left in the plate. I ordered a two egg breakfast with hashbrowns. sausage and pancakes. The eggs tasted kind of old. The hash was above average and cooked well. But the sausage was just ok. a bit one dimensional flavor. The pancakes just weren't good. They weren't cooked hot enough and so they were kind of soft and a bit soggy. They did have a nice taste but the texture was a bit odd. The service was very good. And the decor was very cool, but the food just didnt taste good to us. Sadly, we will probably not travel to Sumner gor breakfast any longer.. read more

Hometown Charm Cafe - The best breakfast in sumner wa - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Sumner, Washington

A nice place to go for breakfast in Sumner. This has become our go-to for breakfast out. The prices are fair and you get a great deal for the price. Service is usually good, although we have had a time or two when things seemed to take awhile longer than they should. My biggest complaint has been the hash browns. No matter how many times we have tried to explain crispy, they always end up coming out lightly browned on the outside and barely cooked on the inside. One server explained that the cooktop simply could not get hot enough because there is constantly new(cold) food on it. Overall, we will be back again but probably not ordering the hash browns. read more

My family and I love to go to Hometown Charm for breakfast. Everything we've ordered has been amazing! Excellent customer service and the cinnamon rolls are to die for read more

My son has severe nut allergies. They were extremely accommodating and aware of switching pans type of protocols. I was impressed at their approach! The food is phenomenal to top it off. The pancakes actually taste like a real pancake mix, vs some fake pour batter. The hash browns aren't overly greasy. The biscuits are really nicely made. It's just all cooked very well and with love. We will always come here for our family and our friends to visit. Thank you for making this a safe place for my son to eat!!! read more

love the family feel. food was delicious and the home feel was 5star.. would recommend to all my friends and family and more. thank you for the amazing service and oh.. the portions of food are spot on. thank you so very much we will return. read more

First time coming here with my family. Food was good (had a Hawaiian omelet) however hash browns could have been cooked a little more. Waitstaff seemed a little overwhelmed with the busy volume, although our waitress was young so that may have played a factor in it. My only gripe was the hash browns quality, other than that a good breakfast spot, which is worth the drive. Definitely not a Beth's although it has the potential to achieve great things. Cinnamon rolls as many have already commented are really good not too rich or overly melty. read more

This is exactly the kind of business to support as they always support their local community. Great food by the way!!!

Ambiance was nice and staff & service was great. The food is decent but not exactly far out. It's just a pity that they have to close at 2 because it would be awesome if they are also open for teatime. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my visit. read more

Discovered this cute little gem last week. We were so impressed, that we have visited twice in 4 days. Really impressed with the coziness of the staff. Coffee is wonderful and always filled. "Sugar in the Raw" is also available and on the table. Homemade warm cinnamon rolls with icing to die for. And oh my goodness....their bacon! Thick and tasty!!! This is a perfect little hometown diner to take a trip back in time where you can visit with the regulars and staff. Forget the commercial diners, Hometown Charm is not only soothing to your tummy, but also your soul. read more

My son and I had breakfast here a few days ago. We both had the chicken fried steak. It was excellent and the portions were so big we couldn't eat all of it. The restaurant was extremely busy with a line out the door waiting to get in. Even with everyone being so busy the food was delivered very fast and the employees were attentive and friendly. Before we left I bought some of their desserts, a mini chocolate cake with raspberry filing and chocolate chip cookies, all I can say is WOW. read more

Crab eggs benedict, hobo hash, make your own omelet, chicken fried steak, and yummy biscuits! Best breakfast in Sumner WA. l will go here everytime. Sunday was busy and we were given exceptional service anyway. This was first time and definitely not the last. Hometown Charm Cafe is a hit! We had walked part of the Rails to Trails pathway and were starving! Boy, did we pick the right place! The service was top notch as well! Brunch started with a huge cinnamon roll- chock full of cinnamon and cream cheese icing - served warm and delish! I had the "senior lite breakfast" ...I admitted I wasn't 62- she was so cute and said "I'm not gonna card you"! Although I gave one of my eggs to my husband the serving was great. Could have had toast but upgraded the meal to include the cinnamon roll. My husband had the giant pancake combo- he couldn't finish all of the pancakes. Everything was fresh and tasted so good! We will definitely go back...actually can't wait to return!! read more

What an adorable little space with delicious food! We had breakfast and a club sandwich with fries. All was delicious and reasonably priced!

I really wanted to like this place. First off. We were seated rather quickly however the waiting area is beyond tiny and cramped and way too many people seem to be waiting for a table. Good sign? Not really. We were sat upstairs. There is this really weird section in the back that could have more seating but appears to have a weird table set up where they ring in the orders and get rid of menus and dirty plates. Kitchen is downstairs so not sure what they really use that area for. Seems like a waste of space. I don't know if it's written anyway not sure if they serve alcohol. I don't need a mimosa or Bloody Mary with breakfast, however my counterpart was craving something. From the highschool staf we got, "we don't do drinks like that." Take that as you will. I'm very impressed with young people working but customer service is something you gain as you go. No offer of water or condiments etc. fine I can ask but I feel it should be offered. Coffee was watered down and not pleasant. I ordered my own hobo hash with Swiss cheese. Literally slices of packaged Swiss cheese not fully melted placed on top of the hash. My counterpart ordered the cinnamon roll French toast. He said it tasted good just too sweet. I mean it wasn't terrible but I'll definitely not go back. It was just a big "eh" for me. read more
