I've been taking my dog to Hometown Bed & Biscuits for quite some time now for both day care and boarding. The staff is friendly and IIRC there's always been openings for overnight stays. The real differentiator is the size of the yard that all the dogs can play in. My dog weighs close to 80 lb so it takes a lot of room to get her up to full speed. By the time I pick her up she's tired, and that's a good thing on a weeknight. Will continue to take her here, the other nice thing is for the day care, no RSVP is necessary, save a phone call and just drop her off. read more

The owner is a veterinarian who has her practice right next door, so if there's ever an issue, especially for older dogs, the doc is right next door! I was not sure how to leave this review. My dog stayed at the kennel for 8 days. When she got home i noticed she was shaking her head and there was swelling. She had an ear infection and she was dragging her butt across the floor quite a bit. She was raw confirmed by the vet. She may have had an allergic reaction to the wet food they gave her as they said she wasn't eating her food. They gave her can food. She has never had this before but is an unknown. I have been to the vet twice for about 200 more dollars. They may have been unlucky and she got an ear infection while in their care but no one noticed she was shaking he head to the point she had scabs on both ears and swelling. I was called by someone that said they would follow-up and call back but they did not. He ear infection is gone but now working on the scabs. read more

Beyond perfect! My toy poodle and corgi stayed here for three nights. They had such a great time. We were so impressed by the exceptional customer service. Making reservations is a breeze. The facilities are really nice and clean. The staff are extremely friendly. Both of my dogs got a room with a window. We visited and researched a lot of other dog boarding facilities in this area. We picked Hometown Bed & Biscuits because it is the best and their stay would feel like home. We love our furbabies to death and like with most dog parents selecting a boarding facility we take it very seriously. Picking this place was a great decision. Zoey had a great stay with Hometown Bed and Biscuits! It was our first time leaving her at a boarding home for an extended period (5 days) and we were worried how she would do. She is a 6 month old Cavapoo. When I dropped her off, the staff reassured me she was in good hands and Zoey ran off to play and didn't look back. When we picked her up, she was still her same happy and upbeat self. She was clean and I can tell she had a great time and didn't miss us too much lol. Really disappointed in a recent experience boarding our White German Shepherd Dog. We dropped Enzo off on a Saturday morning and picked him up on Monday afternoon. The drop off process was easy and they received him warmly and efficiently. The issue we had was when we picked him up. Dennis was manning the pickup that day and he brought Enzo out to us. We noted right away that Enzo was really dirty on his paws and legs - it's easy because he's white and we had given him a bath right before boarding him. I wasn't too worried at first because we hadn't been to Bed and Biscuits before, so we didn't know if maybe their "walking area" was a bit muddy. When we got Enzo outside and into our SUV I noticed he was yellowish on his bottom half, his fur was damp, and he smelled strongly of urine. So, not only did we have to go home and wash our dog, but I also had to clean and air-out my vehicle. I immediately called Dennis who expressed regret and then put us on hold while he checked the kennel where Enzo stayed. Dennis came back to say that he checked the kennel and the bedding was damp. He apologized and indicated that the kennel Lead called out sick. He offered to give Enzo a bath for free or give him a free bath the next time we boarded there. We had plans to board both our GSDs there for 17 days in November while we were out of the country, but I can't in good conscious trust my dogs to their care and will be cancelling after posting this review. Obviously this is a significant revenue that they'll be missing out on as a result of this unfortunate incident. I would give 1 star except for the fact that Dennis was genuinely apologetic and owned what happened. I won't be back, but I'm hopeful others will have a better experience with their fur babies. read more

Apparently, reservation deposits are non-refundable---except they never tell you this and it isn't documented anywhere! Months ago I booked 2 stays at this place for my pup, in August and October. They took 2 days' worth of fees to hold the reservation, which I was told would be applied to the bills. There was never any indication that this wasn't refundable, and this wasn't stated on any of the paperwork or on their website (I asked them to show me, got no response). Unfortunately, the Delta variant happened, and my trips started falling through. When my August trip got canceled, I called to cancel the reservation (with plenty of notice) and it was suggested that the deposit money be applied to his next stay. I agreed because I thought that made sense since I had already had additional plans to board him at that time. Again, it was never conveyed to be a policy, it was just communicated as an option for convenience. My October plans then fell through (sad!) and when I called to cancel (2 weeks' notice) they refused to refund the $95 in reservation fees. They stated that the money has to be applied for a future stay, but I don't have any future trips planned and also...it's $95! They wouldn't even agree to let me apply the money towards doggy daycare fees. Now I'm frustrated and it goes without saying I will never board my dog there. If they care this much about their customers, how much do they care for our pets? I don't have many options other than to complain, as Hometown has been firm that they will not refund my deposit. I was told that the owner would call me to discuss, but I haven't heard from them. Just want to warn other folks that if you book with this place to make sure your plans don't fall through because you'll never see that cash again! It was our first time here and when I called to schedule, I had a wonderful conversation with Bryan, he definitely made me feel at ease for which I am grateful, since we are new to the area. Our 7 year old lab was here for less than a total of 30 hours - when I picked him up and got into the car, all I could smell was dog pee. Our boy has not had an accident since he was 6 months old- he can hold it for a ridiculously long time, so really, there is no excuse. Being a reasonable person, I called today and mentioned I had some concerns regarding our dog's stay and would definitely like to give some constructive feedback because of how truly disappointed I was. I was extremely polite and the nice woman who answered the phone was sweet and apologetic and said she wanted me to talk to a manager. She said she would brief him on the situation so I would not have to repeat it and get him in the phone. Jessie answers the phone "how can I help you" so I politely explain the whole thing over again and my concerns regarding his bed was soaked when I picked him up and he had a very strong pee odor radiating off him. I explained I just wanted to give this constructive feedback as opposed to just leaving a negative review and not giving them an opportunity to hear it from me and maybe institute some changes within their business. Well, let's just say Jessie then proceeded to lecture me that it is not their fault if my dog rolls around outside in pee and that dogs don't always "smell fresh" when they are picked up, he said next time I should pay extra for a bath to be done before I pick him up. I then explained to Jessie that we are a military family, and I have had to board our dog numerous places from upscale boarding places all the way to wonderful people who have watched him in their home, and while he does not always come home smelling "fresh", he has never once smelled of urine before, and that I was just reaching out as a courtesy. I literally paid $140 for my dog to be there for less than 30 hours total; I do not have a warm fuzzy that he was well taken care of. Take your babies elsewhere! We have used their boarding services many times over the years but our last experience sticks in my head. Our dog was 13 yo and started on a new medication written by hometown vet. I called to check in on our dog and it was reported he had vomited but doing fine. He was not in fact doing fine and was in distress. I felt like the gentleman we spoke with was overwhelmed and that it was not staffed appropriately. Does not seem proper attention was given and they were just getting by. This was my impression as his symptoms were not really recognized. This was summer of 2022. I don't plan on ever returning here. read more

We take our dog Shiner here for doggy daycare almost every week day for the past year. The staff is so wonderful and accommodating. It feels like such a community that loves what they do and makes my family feel so welcome. Its refreshing to use a small business that is meeting the needs of their community. I took my fur baby there for a grooming and everyone was very friendly and loving to us upon arrival. Hailey (sorry if misspelled) was amazing. She took such great care of Wickett, that he made sure to make his rounds and say his goodbyes before leaving. That is always a great sign! My dog has been there twice and already I'm impressed! I researched four or five other dog daycares and I'm glad I decided to bring my 5-year-old Sophia here. It's also comforting to know that there is a veterinary practice right next door should the need ever arise. Everyone I met has been welcoming and provides great customer service. The facility is very nice and the staff is trained in dog behavior, which is so helpful, especially when I have questions. They're very good about updating me about Sophia's behavior; you can tell how much they understand and care about dogs. If I need to board her, I'll bring her there with no hesitation. read more

Great place to board but recommend you do not use the groomers. They are independent contractors and you can't seem to nail down pricing until after the job is done. My dog is about lab mix, about 55lbs and it cost $80 for a bath and nails. The dog was not brushed out or anything else. Not to long ago I could get a full grooming for less. A lady was in there when I was and got charged $155 for grooming a small German Shepard. Last time she was charged $80 and expected a similar price. Val! I have never written any sort of yelp review ever, but you have got to ask for Val, and I am writing this because she really, truly deserves it. I cannot speak highly enough about our groomer who has been with us through thick and thin. Our shih tzu, Aug, widely considered to be a problem child, has found a home with this professional. She has gone out of her way to accommodate our son and has always done an incredibly caring and cautious job. There have been times when this task has taken the bulk of the day because of his piranha attitude and she has unflinchingly exuded love and patience the entire time. We have had the pleasure of working with Val for literal decades and we have no plans of ever looking elsewhere. We love when Xena takes care of our dog because she is super sweet and you can tell she loves dogs. Our doggy gets generally anxious when we board him so he goes on a hunger strike lol. But Xena kept us abreast of his situation and was a quick thinker and suggested to give him a different food that we have used before to open up his appetite (and it worked!). We always pick him up from this place in good spirits (which has not been the case when we have boarded him at other places) so that's a good sign. We initially were just going to do a half day of doggy daycare a few days a week as a way to get our havashu puppy socialized. After their free evaluation (~10mins) to see how our dog interacted with a few of the dogs, they informed me he had some behavioral issues; such as my dog getting aggressive when other dogs got in his face. So, they explained to me about their training program that will help with his behavioral issues to fully integrate him into the doggy daycare and it will help with other behavioral issues he has at home as well. After 2 days of working with Rurik and Dallas I have noticed some improvements with his behavior. He is a lot calmer and doesn't bark as much or go nuts when he see's or hears me. Rurik and Dallas are both very knowledgeable and puts me at ease with any concerns that I have. This has been a great experience so far and I am very excited for our puppy to continue working with them. read more

We've been boarding our dogs at Hometown Bed and Biscuit for many years. It's one of the few places around that does caged boarding and will take my intact male. There are so many boarding places around that only do cage free and certainly there are dogs that don't do well in that setting. The folks at HB&B are very nice and our dogs are happy to go, which makes us feel less bad about leaving them behind. Bonus because my dogs don't come home smelling like a kennel. This place is a GODSEND for me. This was my retirement PCS, so we finally rescued a dog. I did not realize that a Catahoula requires the physical activity of three German Shepards, and that's tough around here! The whole team has been fantastic- polite, professional, and always willing to have a dialogue and work with me. More importantly, they are willing to really work with my dog, who can be stubborn as well as hyper. By talking with Sam and Dallas so that we are consistent in training between their place and ours, we've made a HUGE difference in his behavior at home as well. Best place ever to Board your furbabies!!! I've housed both my cat and dog there and feel so comfortable knowing that Dennis and his entire team take care of them as if they were their own!! The team takes special attention to both the physical needs (feeding, medications, cleanliness) as well the emotional care (petting, cuddling, play). I know my babies are well taken care of with staff who actually LOVE ANIMALS and understand that each animal has their own special personality and needs. Rurick has done an absolutely fantastic job socializing our dog. In just a few visits, my dog has shown major improvements and is now able to approach other people and dogs more comfortably than before. So, we have been going to hometown vet for years. Since they opened up bed n biscuits we decided to leave old towne pet resort (Alban Rd) and give it a try. Old towne's prices were high and they charged separately for everything (nail trim, teeth cleaning, etc). Bed n biscuits included everything in a flat price depending in the length of hair. I have two major issues; poor communication and inadequate management. In the Spring, My dog was to be groomed at 8am and had day care all day. We scheduled it this way and informed them the day of, too, that he was to have daycare before and after. Our poor dog never got daycare. On these days we let him stay until we get off of work (5pm). He was full of energy pinned up ALL day after his 8am grooming. Then, today, I pickup my pup to see he is not playing with the others. He was pinned up!!! Why?!?! Well, they said "he just finished being groomed". Well, not only were they lying to me, but the cost of the light trim went up in price. I typically pay $110 for a trim and daycare. If he is fluffy, and needs more work, it is about $125. Today my bill was $140 for a light trim (he didn't need much) with daycare, that he maybe got to have for two hours before his treatment at 10am. When I asked the price went up they said they hired a different groomer that has different fees and had I dropped him off at the scheduled time that I would have been Informed at that time about the change (the day of????). There was SO much wrong with the conversation, and they gave me every excuse as to why I didn't know the new fees. Anyway, this is not bout money (which they gave a 20% discount). I could care less about it bc I was still fuming over the fact that, AGAIN, my dog was not afforded play time that I requested/scheduled and paid for!!! So, twice, this place has mismanaged my pup who loves to play. I am done with Hometown B n B and will give my money to another business that knows what's going on and that can communicate, effectively. I am beyond disappointed to the point where I may leave Hometown vet, too. Just frustrated and disappointed. Don't get grooming here-they just don't get it! read more

I have been using Hometown for both veterinary and grooming services for my two schnauzers for about a year. My husband took our two Schnauzers in for full grooms two days ago. He informed the staff that we'd like our dogs to receive short schnauzer cuts. My husband noticed there were several people waiting in line with their dogs and he was told it would take a while because of the full schedule. Though not the optimal situation to leave your dogs there all day, we understand. I picked up my dogs around 4pm and was charged much more than the previous visits, but there was no reason given as to why my price was so much higher this time around. Seems like prices are made up on the fly. To make matters worse, my dogs now look nothing like schnauzers. They appear to have just been shaved all over, which is very disappointing and not what we requested at all. The grooms also appeared very choppy/patchy, which makes me think these were very rushed jobs. If there were reasons why the schnauzer cuts couldn't be accommodated, it would have been nice to know that or to have been addressed by the groomer. The employee Dennis (who is wonderful by the way) noted that one of my dogs snipped at the groomer, but I was not told which dog though he stated the groomer was fine and it didn't break the skin (again it would have been nice for the groomer to have come out and discussed with me). My dogs have never done that before which makes me believe they were being handled roughly. In the car on the way home, both of my dogs were in a very stressful state and I noticed one of my dogs could barely open one of his eyes. I called Dennis and inquired if something happened, we both thought maybe soap. Two days later,  I had to bring my dog to the vet where he was diagnosed with a corneal abrasion, which could have been caused by the groomer or my dog scratching. Either way my dog was injured in the care of the groomer, though they've taken no responsibility. When I called the grooming business and informed them of my dog's diagnosis,  they didn't really offer to do anything to assist other than note my unhappiness and said they would discuss with the groomer sometime next week because she was so overbooked this week. Lots of red flags. But ultimately, no one should have to pick up their dog from the groomer and take them to the vet for injuries. This last visit was very unlike our previous experiences at Hometown or any other groomer for that matter and, unfortunately, this will be the last time we take our pups here for grooming. read more

We have been working with Rurik to train our boxer/pitbull/other mix and have been very pleased with the progress we have made so far. Rurik has an intuitive sense of how to get dogs to listen and obey and he does a good job of explaining how we can get similar results, and pitfalls to avoid when we are working with our pooch. He is very flexible scheduling and very reasonably priced for someone who does home visits. read more

Our dog recently stayed at Bed & Biscuits for a few nights and we were all very pleased with the experience. The location is convenient, the facilities are very clean, the dog rooms are spacious, the prices are reasonable, and you can tell right away that the staff are true animal lovers and will do their best to care for your pets - not just leave them in solitude all day. We've been going to Hometown Vet Clinic for several years and I was glad to see Bed & Biscuits open up. I waited an hour to calm down before posting this. After looking at my dog, I'm still mad. Don't go to this mom and pop circus. The business doesn't appear to be clean, organized, or competent. Our Airedale looks like a drowned rat. We told them to groom her to the breed standard, and I think they just shaved her head-to-toe because they were just "squeezing her in" before closing. I even showed them pictures of what Airedales look like because I had a feeling just from walking in that they wouldn't be up to the task. They decided to blow me off, and it shows. They didn't even trim her nails which should be standard for a "full grooming." Also, they made me pre-pay which I thought was odd, but now I know why. Lucky for them because I would have refused payment if they hadn't already ran my card. Additionally, they said they called my wife to explain why our dog looks so atrocious, but they lied about the details of that discussion. Finally, the clerk was cutting up little white pills and stuffing them in ziploc bags when I went to pick our dog up. She told me she was cutting them up to keep them away from teenagers that work there at night ... so shady. read more
