Be careful of this one. Will agree to watch your pet and cancel on you at the last minute leaving you thrashing to find a replacement two days before you have to leave the country. Not willing to try to find a win-win situation in a difficult position and will ignore you if you have a concern or question things in their contract. They are on the expensive side too....Good thing I found out early. This is not someone I'd want nor trust to watch my babies. I recommend looking elsewhere. I'll be sure to pass on to my military family because we don't need the added stress in an already stressful situation. Would give zero stars if it were an option. read more

I cannot recommend them enough. They are, hands down, the best dog walking service in eastern Fairfax Cty and Alexandria. The employees are polite, friendly and wonderful with my dog. My pup is EXHAUSTED at the end of his 30 minute walk--which is the whole point of it. They always follow the rules (which I can't say for other dog walking services.) They send me emails with a photo after the walk. I call them PROOF OF LIFE receipts. They crack me up every time and, you know...it's a boost when you're trapped at work and realize that you don't have to worry about your pet. They've never let me down and have helped me when I've been delayed back from a trip or work has unexpectedly sent me out of town. Each time we've scheduled a service, they have sent us an email showing when they would come every day, and send a short visit summary every day that they come, complete with picture. It puts us at ease knowing our sweet floofer has such excellent caretakers while we're away. Christy is always very prompt in responding to emails and approving service requests. The Unleashed Pet is awesome. They've taken care of our mini zoo on multiple occasions, and have always managed to fit us in, even last minute. The owner came by for the initial consultation and she is really down to earth and obviously loves animals. Oh, and we get email updates with pictures of the pets. Love it. A+++++ Update June 2014: Christy/Unleashed Pet has created great good will with us. For example, one of our pet visits only took 15 minutes (just letting dogs out into the backyard) so we were notified and refunded the remaining 15 minutes. Dog Lovers BEWARE! "The Unconsionable Proprietor" is more like it. I just moved to Alexandria from Richmond and looked online for someone to stay with my dog while I am out of town for the holidays. Christy charged a 50% deposit and we scheduled a meet and greet for yesterday. Christy came out alone so when I asked if she would be the one staying here, she said no. She said I didn't need to meet the person who would be staying here and in fact said multiple people would be coming by and it wouldn't really be possible to meet them all. (Would you be comfortable with this scenario?!!) I indicated I would not be comfortable with this and asked if I could get my deposit back. She agreed but wanted to try to work it out first. (As did I.) She left and contacted me later saying she could arrange for me to meet the 2 people who would be staying with my pet in my home, but I would have to pay $40 to meet them. (And by the way, this is on top of the $150/night she was already charging me.) I pointed out that this should be comp but offered to split it with her. She refused and then refused to refund my deposit. read more

We started using this service when we went on vacation to Mexico for a week. Each day we received photos of our dogs for their 30 minute walk and play sessions. After the trip we stopped for a while and started back up when traveling and work became an issue. Now we have our dogs walked four days a week and sometimes more frequent when we are on vacation or business travel. We have the ability to monitor our home remotely and it is amazing to know that we pay for 30 minutes and they are always there for 30 minutes. This means a lot to us! Just returned home from a honeymoon to a happy and healthy bunny. I emailed Christy with some pet-specific requests to see if they could accommodate, and Christy was very happy to hear me out. Everything worked seamlessly over the last week and I got updates everyday with pictures. I have a pet cam and could see that the workers were thorough and gentle with my little diva of a rabbit who makes quite the mess. Overall the service was a life-saver in terms of not having to transport/board my bunny somewhere, as well as not inconveniencing friends to stop by every day. These five-star reviews are for real! We've been using Christy and team since last fall after finding them on yelp, for as-needed (as opposed to daily) services. They help when my husband is out of town and pups are alone for a long day. They watched our senior cat several times while we were traveling, always taking care with her special diet. Christy runs her business so professionally and was very thorough in the orientation meeting with us, which is very reassuring. These guys are amazing! Christy is incredibly responsive and helpful. I met with Justin and I knew immediately that if the rest of the crew was only half as wonderful, Soda would be in good hands. Justin took the time to get to know my cat so there would not be any surprises during the visits. He made sure he knew not just the basics (where the food and water are) but the important details like whether Soda is an escape artist and where his hiding spots are. I had two visits scheduled--and I received an update after both visits! They even included a photo of my guy. I am incredibly impressed with that--Soda hides. They took the time to ensure that he was doing well. They could have easily just given him food and left. But no, they want eyes on the cat. Comforting! Completely disappointed. We used Unleashed just one time and all seemed to go well until we tried to book them again. Called Christy to have them again and she said she would "check the schedule". A couple days later, after no reply, I sent an email checking to see if all was good to go. I then got a perplexing email back saying that they would not offer service to us anymore because our home was dangerous and unsafe for her sitters?!? They were watching our cats, a rabbit, and birds. Not sure where the danger was?!? This made no sense whatsoever. After getting this message we immediately asked why our home was unsafe and dangerous but didn't get an answer back. As a matter of fact, after calling several times and emailing several times Christy never answered us back. Lastly, I sent an email explaining that I would have to leave a negative review if her business didn't back up such an accusation she still didn't contact us. Any business that can not follow through on all levels can not be trusted. I am just glad we didn't use them anymore because who knows what would happen next with these type of ethics. read more

After trying one of the bigger companies to care for my two cats while I was away, I was determined to find a new sitter that offered a more personalized service. Simply receiving a piece of paper with comments upon returning from my trip was not good enough for me. I wanted to know that my guys were ok on a daily basis. I did some research online and found the Unleashed Pet. They have a nice website that has all the information. I sent a request through the site and got an email from Christy right away. Unfortunately, it went to my junk inbox, and I did not know I had it until Christy followed up with a phone call. We set up the initial meeting (no fee) and did the key exchange a couple of weeks before our trip. A few days before we were supposed to leave, one of my cats got a urinary infection and ended up with a bunch of pills that had to be administered per schedule. He also was having accidents and not feeling well, which made me worry about us being away. I was even considering leaving him at the vets for a week. However, after talking to Christy, I felt better as she assured me she will check on my cat, make sure he used the bathroom and would give him the meds. While gone, my husband and I received daily updates from Christy with photos of our cats. One day the email did not come though, but Christy responded to me within an hour and sent photos. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, despite my cat getting sick for the first time at the last minute! I was able to enjoy my vacation without worrying about my cats, thanks to Christy! Also, the price is much lower that the bigger companies and there is no charge for additional pets! After a somewhat frustrating first experience, I decided to use The Unleashed Pet again to care for my pets for nine days while I was away on holiday in the U.K. The second time around was definitely better -- services were confirmed the day before I left, and I promptly received SPOTCheck reports with photos every evening. Everything was moving along just fine until we hit a speed bump with the weather, namely the major snowstorm that hit the DC area at the end of January. Fortunately, Christy was on top of it. She e-mailed me a couple days before the storm was due to arrive to let me know what was coming. Between us we arranged for my lovely neighbor to check in on my pets for a couple of the days when no one from Unleashed Pet could get through the snow, and Christy stayed in contact with my neighbor throughout. Christy and Justin also helped prepare my home for the storm (shut off an outside water pipe, opened doors to make sure heat circulated around plumbing). They went above and beyond to make sure that everything would be OK for my pets, and I very much appreciate the attention and effort.
