Be careful of this one. Will agree to watch your pet and cancel on you at the last minute leaving you thrashing to find a replacement two days before you have to leave the country. Not willing to try to find a win-win situation in a difficult position and will ignore you if you have a concern or question things in their contract. They are on the expensive side too....Good thing I found out early. This is not someone I'd want nor trust to watch my babies. I recommend looking elsewhere. I'll be sure to pass on to my military family because we don't need the added stress in an already stressful situation. Would give zero stars if it were an option. read more

I know it's always a bit unnerving having someone come in your house that you trust with your Fur Baby but I have to say The Unleashed Pet has been amazing!!! The owner and staff are all very professional and so organized and I appreciate that I have the same person each time. I love how the time with my dog is tracked and then emailed me when done - along with a cute write-up and always a fun photo of their time! I highly recommend them!!! read more

They are always there when I need them for dog sitting service. I have been using them for several years now. Always reliable and I feel comforted when I get those emails for every visit and most of those emails with a photo of my dog. Thank you for having outstanding service. read more

I cannot recommend them enough. They are, hands down, the best dog walking service in eastern Fairfax Cty and Alexandria. The employees are polite, friendly and wonderful with my dog. My pup is EXHAUSTED at the end of his 30 minute walk--which is the whole point of it. They always follow the rules (which I can't say for other dog walking services.) They send me emails with a photo after the walk. I call them PROOF OF LIFE receipts. They crack me up every time and, you know...it's a boost when you're trapped at work and realize that you don't have to worry about your pet. They've never let me down and have helped me when I've been delayed back from a trip or work has unexpectedly sent me out of town. These guys are the best--so much so my husband and I even considered getting another dog b/c we knew we had a great company to back us up. read more

The Unleashed Pet - Span...wanting a walk. - Pet Sitting Near Me - Alexandria, Virginia

Belle and I have hired Christy and her team when I've gone on extended weekend trips to visit family. I hate to leave Belle behind, but Unleashed Pet walking and overnight stay services have worked well for us over the years. Belle is now a senior dog and I find comfort in knowing someone will spend the night in her home where she feels safe. Christy and her team always check in with an email and photo while I'm away. Attached is one they sent me. Belle looks happy to be in her own backyard! read more

The Unleashed Pet - Belle while I am away! - Pet Sitting Near Me - Alexandria, Virginia

Christy and her employees are wonderful! They took such good care of our baby while we were gone - and they did it on short notice the first time which was so helpful. :) They came by 3 times a day and sent us emails with details on how our Yorkie was doing along with pictures after each visit. It gave us such peace of mind to know that Christy and her crew were visiting him and giving him love and ear "scritches". I recommend The Unleashed Pet for anyone who needs pet sitting services. read more

We have used this service several times since moving to this area and have always been very pleased with how well they care for our little furball (a cat). The first time we used them, Christy came over to our apartment to write down all the details of his care, where all our supplies were, and meet him herself. Each time we've scheduled a service, they have sent us an email showing when they would come every day, and send a short visit summary every day that they come, complete with picture. It puts us at ease knowing our sweet floofer has such excellent caretakers while we're away. Christy is always very prompt in responding to emails and approving service requests. We'll be happy to continue using them as long as we live in this area. read more

Christy and her team are so awesome and very professional. They go the extra mile to ensure your pets are safe, happy & healthy. I left my 2 cats for a week and was very pleased with the service. They are now my permanent goto since I just moved. Thank you so much!!! read more

The Unleashed Pet is awesome. They've taken care of our mini zoo on multiple occasions, and have always managed to fit us in, even last minute. The owner came by for the initial consultation and she is really down to earth and obviously loves animals. Oh, and we get email updates with pictures of the pets. Love it. A+++++ Update June 2014: Christy/Unleashed Pet has created great good will with us. For example, one of our pet visits only took 15 minutes (just letting dogs out into the backyard) so we were notified and refunded the remaining 15 minutes. We were unsure in the beginning if we needed an entire half hour for a "potty" visit. We are very pleased with Unleashed Pet's honesty. Also, whenever we email them, they respond very quickly, which I appreciate. I can't recommend them enough. read more

Dog Lovers BEWARE! "The Unconsionable Proprietor" is more like it. I just moved to Alexandria from Richmond and looked online for someone to stay with my dog while I am out of town for the holidays. Christy charged a 50% deposit and we scheduled a meet and greet for yesterday. Christy came out alone so when I asked if she would be the one staying here, she said no. She said I didn't need to meet the person who would be staying here and in fact said multiple people would be coming by and it wouldn't really be possible to meet them all. (Would you be comfortable with this scenario?!!) I indicated I would not be comfortable with this and asked if I could get my deposit back. She agreed but wanted to try to work it out first. (As did I.) She left and contacted me later saying she could arrange for me to meet the 2 people who would be staying with my pet in my home, but I would have to pay $40 to meet them. (And by the way, this is on top of the $150/night she was already charging me.) I pointed out that this should be comp but offered to split it with her. She refused and then refused to refund my deposit. read more

We have had a wonderful experience with the Unleashed Pet. They walk our three greyhounds (who are a handful) and are very reliable and communicative. We've also used them to pet-sit one of our greys who has a medical condition and they handled it no problem. It's such a relief having someone you can trust to take care of your pets! read more

We started using this service when we went on vacation to Mexico for a week. Each day we received photos of our dogs for their 30 minute walk and play sessions. After the trip we stopped for a while and started back up when traveling and work became an issue. Now we have our dogs walked four days a week and sometimes more frequent when we are on vacation or business travel. We have the ability to monitor our home remotely and it is amazing to know that we pay for 30 minutes and they are always there for 30 minutes. This means a lot to us! This is why we will continue to use Unleashed!! read more

Mixed results, depending on who came to visit. Communication could use a lot of improvement.

Just returned home from a honeymoon to a happy and healthy bunny. I emailed Christy with some pet-specific requests to see if they could accommodate, and Christy was very happy to hear me out. Everything worked seamlessly over the last week and I got updates everyday with pictures. I have a pet cam and could see that the workers were thorough and gentle with my little diva of a rabbit who makes quite the mess. Overall the service was a life-saver in terms of not having to transport/board my bunny somewhere, as well as not inconveniencing friends to stop by every day. We'll be calling upon their care-takers again in the future! Thanks Unleashed Pet!! read more

Even on fairly short notice The Unleashed Pet is usually able to help us out. My husband and I look forward to the pictures they send during every visit. My cat always seems happy and healthy when we return. We have never had an issue with a sitter and have been extremely grateful to have found this service. read more

These five-star reviews are for real! We've been using Christy and team since last fall after finding them on yelp, for as-needed (as opposed to daily) services. They help when my husband is out of town and pups are alone for a long day. They watched our senior cat several times while we were traveling, always taking care with her special diet. At least twice, I've requested a service last minute, knowing it was likely too late to be accommodated. Both times they were able to come through for us. We are so grateful to this team for caring for our crazy pets and will continue using them! read more

We've been using The Unleashed Pet for a few months now and have been very happy with their dog walking services. Christy runs her business so professionally and was very thorough in the orientation meeting with us, which is very reassuring. I really appreciate the walk updates with photos via email, especially after having experienced walkers forgetting our pup with previous services we've had. Roxie, our regular walker goes above and beyond. Olive being the mischievous pup she is got into some tar on a hot day and Roxie made sure she was cleaned up before she left her, which we really appreciated. On top of that they are always on time and I feel at ease that my dog is in great hands. read more

These guys are amazing! Christy is incredibly responsive and helpful. I met with Justin and I knew immediately that if the rest of the crew was only half as wonderful, Soda would be in good hands. Justin took the time to get to know my cat so there would not be any surprises during the visits. He made sure he knew not just the basics (where the food and water are) but the important details like whether Soda is an escape artist and where his hiding spots are. I had two visits scheduled--and I received an update after both visits! They even included a photo of my guy. I am incredibly impressed with that--Soda hides. They took the time to ensure that he was doing well. They could have easily just given him food and left. But no, they want eyes on the cat. Comforting! The bottom line--I was nervous leaving Soda in the hands of someone he doesn't know. For a 17 pound tomcat he's skittish around new people. Christy and her team put my mind at ease! read more

We have absolutely nothing negative to say about The Unleashed Pet. They've taken care of my kitty two times already, and she loves them! I love that they send an email every visit telling you what they did and pictures. I definitely recommend them if you're looking for a pet sitter that knows what they're doing and are very professional about it. read more

I am currently a customer with The Unleashed Pet. My dog, Eyck, is well taken care of and I get an email/picture daily letting me know if there were any issues and how Eyck was. My dog is not the easiest and they have been truly accommodating about his unique issues. It is truly a weight off of my shoulders knowing that my dog is well taken care of while I am at work. read more

They have taken great care of my pooch. I got daily midday updates with a picture which always improved my mood at work. Also they were able to let a friend into my apartment when I was out of town which was a lifesaver! Reasonably priced and always flexible with my schedule. read more

I can't say enough positive things about the Unleashed Pet. They take such excellent care of our Shiba Inu, Junaid. Shibas can be a handful, but Christy, Justin and Roxie are experts. I love that they send the SPOT check e-mails with details on the walk, including photos. The Unleashed Pet is also very reasonable with billing. I had a couple of instances when I had to cancel a scheduled walk on short notice, and because I had already paid for the walk, Christy credited it over to the following month. I really appreciate that honest business practice. The Unleashed Pet is truly "pawsome"! read more

Completely disappointed. We used Unleashed just one time and all seemed to go well until we tried to book them again. Called Christy to have them again and she said she would "check the schedule". A couple days later, after no reply, I sent an email checking to see if all was good to go. I then got a perplexing email back saying that they would not offer service to us anymore because our home was dangerous and unsafe for her sitters?!? They were watching our cats, a rabbit, and birds. Not sure where the danger was?!? This made no sense whatsoever. After getting this message we immediately asked why our home was unsafe and dangerous but didn't get an answer back. As a matter of fact, after calling several times and emailing several times Christy never answered us back. Lastly, I sent an email explaining that I would have to leave a negative review if her business didn't back up such an accusation she still didn't contact us. Any business that can not follow through on all levels can not be trusted. I am just glad we didn't use them anymore because who knows what would happen next with these type of ethics. read more

Christy and her team are fabulous. I trust them to give our two pups, a Boston Terrier and a Pug mix, the love and care they would give their own pets. It brightens my afternoons to receive the email describing how the pups were that day and to see pictures of them. They are honest and trustworthy. Christy let me know when she had to leave early one day on an emergency and credited me that day on the next month's bill. Christy also accomodated our last minute cancellation. I highly recommend this team for your dog walking and overnight sitting needs. read more

I engaged Christy to walk my beagle while I was out of the country and my dog was staying with a friend. Christy and Justin were totally awesome. I got pictures and email updates daily, which really put me at ease. I'll definitely ask for her help again in the future. read more

Unleashed Pet has walked my Eva Belle every weekday for more than a year now. They have done many a weekend including overnights, too. I am very pleased with their service and Eva Belle loves them (I have been home a number of times when Justin or Christy or Roxie visit). I trust them with my home and my furbaby and recommend Unleashed Pet to you! read more

We've been using The Unleashed Pet for nearly a year to take care of our two cats. Christy and her staff are professional and highly reliable. Once you're an established client, the web site is easy to navigate and schedule pet sitting times. In addition to taking good care of the animals, a well-appreciated standard feature is a short email and photo(s) for every visit to reassure us they're being looked after and are happy. Highly recommend The Unleashed Pet. read more

Christy and her team are the best. They are so reliable and professional - I get a photo every day of my happy pups when they visit them so I never have to worry if they were walked. My pups are have their own special needs and I've also used them for overnights and it's been great. Their rates are reasonable and I feel super comfortable leaving my two dogs in their hands - which says a lot as my dogs are my world! read more

The Unleashed Pet provides excellent and professional dog walking service at a competitive rate. The owner, Christy, has been walking foster dogs for us for a year now and has been incredibly flexible in accommodating our ever changing schedule and the varying needs of our foster dogs. The daily email and photo provides my husband and I a lot of peace of mind and is a unique offering. She and her colleagues really care about their furry customers. We would definitely recommend her to our friends. read more

After trying one of the bigger companies to care for my two cats while I was away, I was determined to find a new sitter that offered a more personalized service. Simply receiving a piece of paper with comments upon returning from my trip was not good enough for me. I wanted to know that my guys were ok on a daily basis. I did some research online and found the Unleashed Pet. They have a nice website that has all the information. I sent a request through the site and got an email from Christy right away. Unfortunately, it went to my junk inbox, and I did not know I had it until Christy followed up with a phone call. We set up the initial meeting (no fee) and did the key exchange a couple of weeks before our trip. A few days before we were supposed to leave, one of my cats got a urinary infection and ended up with a bunch of pills that had to be administered per schedule. He also was having accidents and not feeling well, which made me worry about us being away. I was even considering leaving him at the vets for a week. However, after talking to Christy, I felt better as she assured me she will check on my cat, make sure he used the bathroom and would give him the meds. While gone, my husband and I received daily updates from Christy with photos of our cats. One day the email did not come though, but Christy responded to me within an hour and sent photos. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, despite my cat getting sick for the first time at the last minute! I was able to enjoy my vacation without worrying about my cats, thanks to Christy! Also, the price is much lower that the bigger companies and there is no charge for additional pets! I will definitely use The Unleashed Pet in the future, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants their animals to receive more personalized care. read more

The Unleashed Pet has provided incredible care to our 3 dogs! They go out of their way to make sure that my fiancé and I feel that our dogs are safe, happy, and healthy. During our first consultation, Christy was extremely thorough. Her questions showed that she really knows how to care for dogs. Our walkers, Roxy, Justin, and Edith have also made us feel that our dogs were in good hands. We were so very appreciative of receiving such a sweet Valentine's Day gift from the company. They have also been more than accommodating with our senior dogs' health needs. Whether it's giving medications or carrying our dog up and down steps, they are happy to help. Everyday we get a photo of all three of our pets and a short summary of how their walk went and if there were any concerns. These updates put us at ease knowing that our dogs are doing well. We couldn't be happier and encourage anyone looking for a dog walker to check out The Unleashed Pet! read more

After a somewhat frustrating first experience, I decided to use The Unleashed Pet again to care for my pets for nine days while I was away on holiday in the U.K. The second time around was definitely better -- services were confirmed the day before I left, and I promptly received SPOTCheck reports with photos every evening. Everything was moving along just fine until we hit a speed bump with the weather, namely the major snowstorm that hit the DC area at the end of January. Fortunately, Christy was on top of it. She e-mailed me a couple days before the storm was due to arrive to let me know what was coming. Between us we arranged for my lovely neighbor to check in on my pets for a couple of the days when no one from Unleashed Pet could get through the snow, and Christy stayed in contact with my neighbor throughout. Christy and Justin also helped prepare my home for the storm (shut off an outside water pipe, opened doors to make sure heat circulated around plumbing). They went above and beyond to make sure that everything would be OK for my pets, and I very much appreciate the attention and effort. I definitely plan to use The Unleashed Pet again whenever I travel. read more
