Perhaps reconsidering your business model is in order so that those actually doing the work share in the money you are making from their additional efforts. Also, I urge you to confirm that the homes your sitters need to go to are habitable before the job - ensuring you don't put your employees in difficult situations (ie, bug infested homes). I used passionately pets to care for my two cats while I was out of town for a week. The day before I left, one of my cats got an infection and had to go on medicine. Thank goodness Passionately Pets was able to accommodate the last minute change. The sitter did not just run in, feed, and run out. She spent at least 30 minutes for each visit and made sure each cat was eating and got some pets. The cats were a little freaked out (likely because I haven't been out of town in over a year) and the sitter brought their meals to them in their hiding places. I received updates twice a day that included detailed notes and photos of the pets. it's very reassuring to know my cats were getting such great care. The app and website are really easy to navigate. It requires a lot of set up to get started (lots of online forms to fill out in the app)- but it all adds to the quality of the experience and the peace of mind that they will have everything covered with your beloved pet. All the walkers I've had have been outstanding and have taken the time to bond with my dog and have left substantive feedback after every walk. My last walker, in particular--Lauren--was stellar. We moved out of the area and no longer can work with Passionately Pets--but I honestly wish we could have taken Lauren with us! I was so, so nervous about leaving my kitty for a week. She is the light of my life, my emotional support companion, and I love her more than anything. Passionately Pets took such good care of her! Every time they come (I had them visit once a day but you can book for more than that too) they leave a detailed report including PHOTOS (!!!) of your friend. They do a sort of on-boarding visit where someone goes through everything with you, takes detailed notes about what your needs and wishes are, and makes sure everything is all set. They are super flexible, all their services and prices are super clear and easy to understand. And you can tell that their staff all really LOVE animals and care a lot about making sure they are healthy and happy. I became a customer of Passionately Pets in March after they were featured in the Zebra as a "best of Alexandria" for dog walking. Since then my pup has been a loyal customer, going on weekly walks! I appreciate that they are quick to inform if there is a substitute walker and how after every walk I receive a journal entry that features a blurb about where he walked as well as pictures for the walk. I have been using Passionately Pets for a year and a half and have been impressed with the services and communication since day one. Prior to the initial walk the owner came over for a consultation to familiarize herself with my dog, the house, and where everything is located. Seeing that I've been using the service for an extended period of time indicates I'm very satisfied, but I'd like to highlight a few things I've been most impressed with: - Punctual; shows up for the walk during the time window we agreed upon - Quick communication back and forth during business hours if I have questions, concerns, or if I need to make changes to my dog's walk schedule - My work schedule can change on a moment's notice and Passionately Pet's have been awesome in keeping track of the changes that I communicate to them when even I have a difficult time keeping my own schedule straight. In the entire year and a half there has never been any mistakes in their scheduling - On several occasions I've had emergencies or last minutes requests due to extenuating circumstances and Passionately Pets was able to accommodate - There has been only minor turnover in the scheduled walker throughout the time I've been using the service and I feel like the walker really enjoys his job I pay $15 per day for a 30 minute walk and I find that reasonable considering the amount of time spent with my pet as well as the walker's transportation to/from my location. I wish the overnight visits were either a little more affordable or would include a midday walk in the cost because otherwise it's difficult for me to budget the cost if I'm out of town for more than a day or two. But on the other hand the benefit is that the person staying overnight with my pet already knows my dog and my home so it makes preparing for a trip much easier when the sitter already knows what needs to be done. Overall I highly recommend Passionately Pets and I expect to be using their services well into the future. read more

I chose Passionately Pets at the recommendation of a friend, and it was one of the best decisions I've made. I have two dogs, one of whom is very anxious and just hates being boarded at a kennel - actually, she hates anything new. I was shocked that Jenna (the owner) walked in, and the nervous dog was not at all shy or anxious, she just walked right up to Jenna and got progressively more excited about Jenna as the interview went along (she asked all kinds of questions to make sure they were ready for any contingencies, and had a very thorough form so that they understood the dogs' needs). I can totally tell why Jenna got into this business, I think she must just emit some kind of super-pet-friendly pheremones! My dog has never liked someone that quickly and thoroughly. For roughly the same cost as kenneling (actually a little less), Passionately Pets came to the house and walked my two dogs three times a day and fed them twice, for a week. We got back from vacation and expected the dogs to be frantic with relief at our return, like they usually were... um no, not at all. They were a little bored - "Oh you again? Where's the cool lady?", which was pretty disconcerting. But a very good sign, that they had been taken care of very well, and they had obviously not been anxious in our absence. Passionately Pets left a note after each visit and brought up anything noteworthy that happened, so it was nice to get to thumb through and see what had happened while we were gone. There is a lot of peace of mind about knowing that someone responsible is holding down the fort while you're not there. Even better, there have been several times that I have asked for short-turnaround dog-walking (twice I got caught at work late, once had an unexpected trip come up) and they were happy to cover even with short lead time. Although I didn't use these services, I know that Passionately Pets also offers dog-walking while you're at work, and staying overnight in your absence if your dogs/cats need it (they also bring in mail, water plants, turn on/off lights, and such things to make the home look lived-in). Overall, I highly recommend Passionately Pets. Having them for trips is a huge relief, and knowing that in a bind I have back-up for my dogs is even better. read more

Passionately Pets was our daily dog walking company until I switched to a work-from-home arrangement and we no longer needed their services. If money was no object in our life I'd still use them to take our darling dog for midday walks even now that I can handle letting him in and out to do his business. When we picked Passionately Pets we didn't have a lot of choices; our pup had survived parvo and one other firm refused to do business with us, ever. Another wanted us to pay for special disposable surgical clothing for their walker to wear every time they came to our home, and would only start walks for us after another 6 weeks had passed. Jenna, on the other hand, worked with us to help care for our dog and take steps to make sure no other dogs were endangered. Facts about how long the virus hangs around after a dog recovers are poorly researched, so Jenna had our walker keep Casey within our yard for the first two months to insure he didn't spread any remaining disease. She assigned a walker who wasn't caring for any other young dogs so there was no potential they'd take the virus to a dog that hadn't had all its shots, and the walker made sure to wash up after putting Casey back in his crate but before they left. I saw all this for myself when I was working from home and we didn't cancel service for the day. Most above and beyond the call had to be how our first walker dealt with Casey's eating issues. For a long time after his recovery he was a poor eater. Since we had no other pets we'd simply put food down and he'd eat it when he was ready or needed it. Our initial walker, however, would sit down and play with him while hand-feeding him one bit of kibble at a time. We were amazed, and told her it wasn't necessary, but she wouldn't hear of it - this was the way to make sure he ate all his food, so that's what she'd do. We had a few more walkers during out time with Passionately Pets and whenever there was going to be a change, whether it was a one-off or an ongoing change, Jenna would email us to let us know ahead of time and offer us a chance to meet the new walker. It was more than I felt I needed but my wife always wanted to know who was coming to our home. Personally I had confidence in Jenna and knew she'd stand behind the service. They're who we always recommend when the subject of pet sitting comes up. read more

I strongly recommend you do not get involved with this company and it's owner, Jenna Gotch. They tack on as many extra charges as possible and are completely inflexible. Every interaction contains a "no" or an "extra charge" or another task for you to have to do to make their work lighter. I am relieved I sensed this was only going to get worse, so I got out before I really needed to count on them for anything and even trying to get out of it without an aggressive conversation and caustic immature petty attempts at extortion, was futile. It went on until I just had to stop trying to not be bullied by it all. My review: the worst dog walking company I have ever dealt with and I have had 5 dogs in 2 different cities and use walkers 5 days a week regularly. Not even 1 star but there wasn't an option for a negative number. You're better off with anywhere else. read more

Highly recommend! Lisa and Amy watched our three pets over the holiday and did a wonderful job. Lisa did the majority of the visits and sent pictures and detailed journal entries about what they did. They actively engaged with them and came up with fun games to play. Lisa and Amy were both very responsive when I asked them questions. I felt completely relaxed knowing my pets were in good hands. I am very happy to have found this service. I've been trying different ones for a while and although we only just signed up for daily walks for our fur-baby. I am impressed by the level of service we have received and the care the staff takes to ensure you start off on the right foot. Our senior Golden requires a little patience and it appears that the walker is a great match. Hopefully it stays this good. In response to the owner of Passionately Pets. Your response to my post is despicable and only makes a mourning pet owner relive all the cracks and negligence on the behalf of your service, that had Jake been given the chance to be cared for someone who actually cared he may still be alive. In the last bit of your response to my post, you said, "we hope to use this as a learning experience."!!!?? How about if your parent or pet died and the doctor came out and said, "well, your dearly loved and treasured family member is dead, but we're just going to use this as a learning experience." Who says that. I'm shaking, so upset. Never once have you sent your condolences, you called ONCE! and it was a very happy cheering message, knowing full well that I had to rush Jake to the ER in a panic upon returning home. Time and again in your 'notes' you have written that he did not eat, or moved from the bed, pulled away. All strange behavior, considering all the paper work I filled out. I did not receive one phone call, text or e-mail during that course of time when Jake's health was clearly deteriorating, or 'off' or whatever you want to call it. You're only answer has been, "well, I don't know your cat that well." Even when my emergency contact person lives 10 ft away. If you had any concern, which clearly you did because you said his behavior seemed unusual, you could of called me, called my emergency contact for a second pair of eyes. And you know full well that I texted you well over a week ago, that Jake had passed away and also sent pictures. Once, only three days later while this was going on did you send a text that Jake didn't seem well. And you never 'advised' me to take him to the emergency vet I called you in a panic knowing Jake's condition was critical, and not being from this area did you only then tell me my choices for 24 hour vet care. I think your response to my post, shows even more your inability to be a compassionate, responsible caretaker for peoples pets. You don't care about my grief or my loss, you only care about your business. Jake died of acute kidney failure, where hours and minutes can make a difference because it is a sudden onset. What I came home to, just three hours after you had been here, Jake couldn't even walk, or stand--which you somewhat indicate in your notes, "Jake isn't moving off the bed." "Jake isn't moving even when I wake him, his not interested in being touched." ,"Jake is on the floor, unresponsive," then you try to blame me when Elliott ate Jake's food, I wasn't here!!!! You never, asked me to come up with another solution because when I was home it didn't happen. YOU being here seeing that Jake wasn't eating should of tried to come up with another solution or at least contacted me to give me a chance to think for you. Nothing will bring Jake back, I'm heartbroken beyond measure and your insensitivity is so disgraceful, I hope others considering your service read through your words. Not to mention that the girl you claimed you fired after the 'sub par' visits, showed up at my doorstep yesterday, telling me you accused her of playing a hand in Jake's death, and had just fired her that day. She offered to pay some of Jakes vet bills, she felt terrible for her admitted neglect but heard nothing of Jake's passing. She seemed equally heartbroken and after reading 'your' notes, while Jake was under your care, she said she would of definitely reached out to the owner to get a second opinion on Jake's behavior. Since she was technically still your employee, you could of called her since, "you didn't know my pets," and asked if this was how Jake acted when she visited. So many gaps, so many mistakes, I will never forgive myself for giving you a second chance. read more

I've been using passionately pets for a little over a year and it started out fine the first couple visits, but has gone downhill. I've used them to take care of my cats when I'm gone. I recently requested them to watch my cats and gave three weeks notice. They let me know they were locating a sitter. After a week and half of not hearing a confirmation, I reached out again. They said they were waiting to hear back. Now one week out they say they have no one and to use another service. Finding another service isn't a quick process. You have to find someone who services your area, schedule a visit with them, get extra keys made AND hope that on a week's notice they have someone available. They didn't even provide other alternatives. This is the third time the company has messed up. We had them come one morning when we were returning late afternoon. The sitter showed up AFTER we got home and we still had to pay for this day. Another sitter gave my cats our dogs food the two days they watched them, so the cats didn't eat the entire time. In both of these cases there was no explanation as to the issue or an offer to refund the days in issue. They have also had manager turn over. The owners remain the same, but they have recently had two managers quit on them with what appeared to be no notice. I would look for a more reliable sitter. read more

They are completely different sizes ( a Corgi and German Shepherd) and their walker Daisy has never had any problems. We've been using Passionately Pets since 2011 and highly recommend their service. Never had an issue and they have always come through for us - even on last minute bookings. One of our favorite things about Passionately Pets are the notes from each visit. We always get home and spend a few minutes reading them - it's like getting a report card - and let's us know that someone really took the time to care for our critters while we were away. This past weekend was no exception and we wanted to thank Vanessa for such detailed notes on her visit. We really appreciated her thoughtfulness in particular around our dog Kiku who has had a lot to adjust to recently with the addition of a new dog Dutch and our 9 month old daughter. She can be fussy and not eat when we're gone and Vanessa noticed and crushed up some cookies into her bowl and made sure she ate while she was here. I started using Passionately Pets for mid-day walks about two months ago and have been extremely impressed. After looking at several different choices, I decided to try Passionately Pets because of the professional website and great reviews I had read, as well as their price point (I found it to be very similar to competing companies). I appreciated that I was able to meet my dog's regular walker (there have only been a couple of walks she has missed due to sickness or scheduled leave), as well as one of the managers, prior to the first walking so that my dog and I would feel comfortable. The intake forms were thorough, which allowed for me to provide as much information as possible to the walker, in case they needed it (for example, where I keep cleaning supplies in case my dog makes a mess). Passionately Pets provides both a paper and an electronic "Pet Care Journal" every walk, which allows for me to monitor how my dog is doing no matter where I am. Info included in the journal varies from if my dog went to the bathroom to if their water bowl was refilled. They have also recently started including photos with the online journal, which I love to get! Passionately Pets has a very user friendly online portal which allows for me to make notes to my walker, view my schedule, or update any of my dog's info, as needed. I highly recommend Passionately Pets to any pet parent in the Arlington area! read more

The good: Our regular walker had a family emergency come up, and we were able to book with Passionately Pets on short notice, which was really convenient. They left really nice notes every day about how the dogs were behaving. The bad: There's a fee for the meet and greet; I find this very reasonable, it takes time and gas to get out to our house. HOWEVER, if Im going to pay a meet and greet fee, I expect the person who comes out to the house to spend time meeting my dogs, going on a walk with us, or seeing where everything is. We paid money for someone to come meet our dogs and then spent the entire time doing paperwork, and it wasn't even the person who ended up walking our dogs. The ugly: They had our dogs mixed up. I have a 50# tan mutt, and a black great dane, they don't exactly look alike. This was extra frustrating given the meet and greet disaster. Fortunately for us, the biggest issue is our older dog got a longer walk and our puppy did not get as much exercise, but if medication or behavioral quirks were involved, this could have been a really dangerous situation. I would NOT recommend them, and we will not be using them again. read more

I have used Passionately Pets several times to take care of my cat while out of town for a week or so. I have never had a problem scheduling and they get back to me promptly. All of the cat sitters have been outstanding. They leave daily notes that I love to read when I get back in town. I can feel the genuine care that they have for my cat in the messages that they leave. They are very attentive to my instructions and tell me of any changes in my cat. I love, love, love Passionately Pets! I have a rescued Australian Shepherd who is a very high energy dog. I used Passionately Pets for a midday walk Mon-Fri while at work, and always came home to a note on the counter and a very happy pup! Jenna was always immediately responsive to any communication via email. She was also very flexible if I needed to cancel a walk, or needed to add a dinnertime walk when running late at work. I loved that the walkers took photos of the dogs during their visits and posted them to Facebook. I always looked forward to seeing Molly in Passionately Pets's albums; she ALWAYS looked so happy and that gave me such relief. I recently moved from the area to become a full-time student and I MISS PASSIONATELY PETS SOOO MUCH! I would definitely recommend their dog walking services to anybody in the area. We hired Passionately Pets to walk our 12 week old lab mix on days that I'm not able to come home to let her out myself. They are trustworthy, love animals, and provide great communication after each walk. Scheduling is done about a week in advance so I can't vouch for flexibility but I am quite satisfied so far.
