    This is the response I received from the owners of Whole Dogz, when I attempted to file a complaint.

    Positive: Bailey's spot to meet her friends and brother to play; 3 hour packages; Close to Old Town Alexandria. Negatives: Bullying tactics after launching my first complaint by one of the owners happened over the span of a few months; unsolicited advice from owner that went against qualified vet directions after first complaint; Uses objective data like camera footage, but the organization does not have the skills to asses or mediate a situation using both subjective and objective data. Recommenation: Owner and staff training on professionalism and customer service; Subjective perspective: I have a great relationship with two other daycares who are close to home. Whole Dogz was not a good fit for me. I was trying to speak because the owner kept interrupting, I choked in my mask and pulled it down. I apologize for taking off my mask when I left the building. I was very upset with the treatment and the accusation of not memorizing a rule. I needed to be calm for my pups before I interacted again. They feel the energy. I will not be recommending or contacting this business again. *** NOTE: I stand by my review after Mary (the owner's comment). Please notice I questioned their skill-set and not their character, despite the false accusations. ***

    I was trying to find a good daycare for my dog, and I wanted this to work out but it just didn't. The website and email/messaging system are dysfunctional and difficult to engage with but the real problems came when I went to "tour" and separately for my pup's evaluation. The "tour" was basically nothing, as you're "not allowed" to see the areas where dogs are. But I was able to see the kennels for overnight boarding, which seemed standard, though we just stood by the entryway there so I didn't see much. The man who gave me the tour seemed very disinterested, and it felt like I was bothering him but I tried to stay hopeful. I booked a follow-up eval to bring my dog in, so the day came and we went in at our scheduled time, except there was no one to be found at the front. Like completely empty, and no one in ear shot or anything. I said "hello" as I don't see a bell or knocker, but no one came. We stood around for a few minutes, but then we heard some really loud howling going on. My dog starts freaking out, and then I just got a bad vibe, so we left. I understand places are busy and staff need to go into the other room for things at times, but if someone books a time to bring their puppy in for the first time (and I told the man this), you probably should try to do a better job of welcoming them and attending to them at their appointment time. I may give it another shot in the future, but it kind of put me off for the time being. As a follow up based on Mary's response here (attached), I'll just say that your tone and approach, Mary, is exactly what I would expect based on my experience with your business and thanks, but no thanks. As far as the tour upsetting the dogs, I understand, but it seems odd to not have at least an area/window/door through which one could view into the play area rather than only by the camera. Beyond that, though, my dog isn't a cup of coffee, and just because you have a storefront in the front of the facility doesn't mean your sole purpose is merchandise or that you should view people's fur babies as such. To clarify: I didn't wait in line, as there wasn't anyone around, even after waiting well past my scheduled appointment time. Not that I should have anyway if an appointment was made, but there probably should be someone at least listening for the front, from a safety perspective. The interface of your site and messaging is difficult to use and not user friendly; a suggestion would be to use actual email. Your enrollment form doesn't allow various response areas to be filled; a suggestion would be to fix this so people can provide the most accurate information about their dogs. I notice you didn't address the customer service issue I mentioned during the tour, which is fine, because it doesn't seem like customer service is a top priority, but maybe it should be. An by all means, leave your storefront unattended to keep prices low for other people using your services but maybe invest in a bell or knocker so people can alert your workers that they've arrived especially when they've worked to schedule an appointment at a specific time.

    Got here at 650pm to pick up food for my dog but they were closed. What are the updated hours?

    I am really sorry. I think staff thought all daycare dogs were gone but they shouldn’t have closed the doors until 7 pm.

It is apparent they love pets and ensuring their proper care. The reports I receive after each visit put my mind at ease, particularly since one of my kitties is wary of people she doesn't (and, at times, does) know. I also enjoy the photos. The app that APC uses is a user-friendly interface that allows you to handle virtually all business with APC, and the team sends reminders to confirm the scheduled visits a couple or more days prior. As others have commented, make no mistake about it: the services cost and sometimes, the sticker shock gets me, particularly considering the circumstances for the visit. There is a weekend charge, per day, per pet, and a holiday fee, per day, per pet whenever there is a holiday or it's APC's dedicated holiday season. While I expect to pay to have someone briefly interrupt their own holiday plans to handle the things with my kitties that I cannot, boy oh boy does it add up and quickly. A loyal customer discount or customer appreciation savings here and there would definitely be welcomed! That said, I know I can leave my pets in good, competent hands and that my home is secured, as well. They will tend to plants and pick up the mail, if you ask, and they do leave things orderly. I love the notes, the pictures, and the care they show my pets. I know they have been kind to my pets and that's the most important thing to me. I definitely recommend and will use again.

They were professional and provided timely responses to all of our questions. While we were out of town, they regularly sent us photos and updates so we knew Sami was well taken care of. And Leila was such a gracious host to share her home for a long weekend. Can't recommended them enough. So glad we found them. We'll definitely be using Leila Knows Best the next time we travel.

Her trainer tells me that she is very stubborn with extremely high energy. She is also rebellious and constantly pushing boundaries to see what she can get away with. And I adore her. Sansa was badly injured by her first groomer at age 14 weeks, and had to have emergency surgery, plus 6 weeks of heavy sedation so she could recover. As a result she is now anxious all the time. She is jumpy and scared and ready to bite the hand that wants to leash her-mine! I had left her with a dog sitter for a weekend in September and then reserved the same sitter for the first week of November. I think that the sitter was too polite to tell me that she didn't want to deal with my Cujo-style dog. She called about 12 hours before she was supposed to show up and backed out. I am glad she did because that lead me to Elodie and Moe-"Leila Knows Best", who are THE PERFECT dog sitters. They treated Sansa like she was their own. I know how disruptive she can be, yet they never complained. She was genuinely happy there. I had to extend my trip by two nights and they accommodated her without fussing, hemming or hawing. I received several updates for the 8 days that I was away. They took her to the waterfront to play, for several walks a day and even pulled out a crate for her to sleep in because that's what she is trained to do. I didn't have to lug her crate over. Their place is spotless. They have a beautiful pooch called Leila who seems calm and well trained. Sansa clearly enjoyed her stay with aunty Elodie and Uncle Moe! To Elodie and Moe-I cannot thank you enough! I hope you'll agree to take her again. (Not soon because as Moe said-she is a dog and a half). Lol She is in puppy kindergarten now and should be much easier next time!! If you want someone you can trust with your canine baby, look no further. .

Beth helped me feel so much better because she took the time to send me photos, tell me how he was doing, and talk with me while he was staying with her. After the first photo I immediately felt at ease and thankful we made the decision to leave our dog here. I really appreciate that Beth takes the time to do this and it really shows that she cares about animals and her job. I feel comforted to know that my dog has a safe place to go the next time his "parents" are away!

So we found Jon and Janelle through their website and decided to give them a try. They came over to meet our kitten, Calvin, and he warmed up to them immediately. They outlined their service and fees and everything turned out just as they had explained. It's a little nerve-racking giving your keys to someone you don't know to come in your home when you're not there, but Jon and Janelle were extremely friendly and made us feel at ease, plus it was nice knowing they would be the only ones that would be coming into our home and not an employee. Over the course of time while we lived in the area, they came and sat for our kitten at least 10 times. It was such a relief not to worry about the well being of your pet when you're away. They even give you updates after every visit letting you know if anything came up while you were gone, how your pet ate and behaved, etc. Their prices are the best around and they always had availability when we asked, even during Christmas and Thanksgiving! Overall Jon and Janelle run a great business and we were sad that we wouldn't be able to use them anymore after we moved out of the area. If you're looking for an affordable pet sitting service that is upfront, trustworthy, and really good with your pet, look no further!

From the moment you meet Megan, you can tell she is deeply passionate about the care of animals. She cares about their wellbeing just as much as the owner! She's not just a service provider, she's a godsend to our family and new pup! From field trips, long walks, south block pup cups...Megan has given our new pug amazing socialization and enrichment. He is thriving as a new city family dog and we have Megan to thank for most of that, continually looking out for him, updating us with photos and videos of his fun-filled days, and her extraordinary effort to adjust him to all different types of dogs and people!
